Very disappointing news for you guys
I’d like to clarify a few points.
Their definitive answer toward hard modes was the most disappointing thing to hear.
Well, we’ve known that for almost a year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy7CcwnfUdU&t=16m18s
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base.”
Pre-launch, Colin listed things that make MMOs bad. They are all now in GW2.
@Regina:
What are we working on right now? Feature Pack 2 (in ~two more weeks), Season 2 of the Living World (coming back this fall), the WvW Fall Tournament, and the World Tournament Series PvP global tournament are just some of the things we are currently working on that we can tell you about right now.
I’m trying to remain as polite as possible, but I really got the need to tear apart that comment.
The Second Feature Pack doesn’t even contain slightly the amount of changes that should have been there after a work process of 6 months, not to mention after 2 years.
Though Season 2 is a huge improvement in comparison to Season 1, it doesn’t even contain slightly the amount of new content that should have been there after months of work and 2 years after release.
The WvW Fall Tournament isn’t something new and didn’t require a lot of work to be restarted again. It doesn’t contain any changes to the current WvW system as well, it’s warmed up content.
The Would Tournament Series in sPvP may be something huge to be organized, but that’s not the job of the developers. Their job is to improve spvp, including balance, maps, modes, matchmaking and rewards. They didn’t do their job well. The competitive scene is nearly entirely gone, only very few viewers are still interested in gw2 pvp streams.
And since several interviews already stated that you are neither working on new dungeons, nor new skills, weapons, SAB or anything major besides LS 2, I’m seriously wondering what exactly you are working on at all. The time you need to release a new patch in comparison to it’s content just doesn’t work out.
GW2 was a game that started with huge innovations, thus being absolutly great and amazing. However, innovations always need adjustmens, reworks and fixing. None of this happened for 2 years now. To be absolutly frank: I’ve got the feeling that you don’t care about GW2 anymore, because you know that there is currently just no concurrence out there that can compete with what GW2 offers. However, what will happen when some real competition comes up?
Aw, what the hell, one last time:

Dear Regina,
I have already ran over 3000 paths since my Dungeon Master, I am looking foward to see a new dungeon, something fresh. I miss the days when we (me and my dungeon groups) had to spend time figuring out how to do a dungeon, I want to have that feeling again. You can even reutilize mechanics that are good, mix those with new ideas and create something different. Two years have passed and I believe that we deserve a complete new dungeon (Story + 3 Paths).
Cheers,
Lua

Despite my negative feedback, here’s what I want if you are willing to listen.
For fractals:
-Please fix the cliffside bug occurs when the person with hammer falls down and dies, the hammer disappears and the progression halts.
- Reduce the drop of ascended “armor” chest and increase the drop of ascended weapons/fractal weapons in 40~50. People who got up to 40~50s are already expected to create a full set of ascended armor, so we’d rather have ascended weapon skins of different color.
- For fractal weapons, please give us a way to buy them (10 pristine relics per weapon would be ideal, only available to people with 40~50 personal levels)
-Fractal armor would be awesome, but not in RNG form. Again 10 pristine fractal relics+ bolt of damask+ ingredients+ shards/vials/globs of crystallized mists per piece.
-The ascended rings should cost at least 50 silvers~1g for vendors to give fractal runners more incentive.
For dungeons
-From my experience coming from a guild of 100+roster, only 5~10 people would run path 1 2 3 Arah without trouble while 10~15 people could run it with a bit of help and rest simply tried and gave up.
-Increase the gold rewards for certain paths (Arah Path 4, Sorrow’s Embrace Path 2, Aetherblade path in Twilight Arbor)
-Also reward us for something more than tokens and gold. If you decided to not to increase the gold reward, then add more dungeon skins for us to spend our tokens on.
-Not gonna say precursor crafting, but at least guarantee us a rare/chance at exotic at finishing certain dungeons like Arah.
These aren’t any major changes in dungeons because I have no problems with current dungeons, but if you decided to switch up the rewards, give us more incentive to run dungeons other than for gold, and actually provide us with some meaningful response, then some of us will be happy with this change for a year
We got our dredge revamp from the CDI.
Stop. Think. Type.
It shouldn’t have taken a CDI to figure out that Dredge sucked. One playthrough of it with a pug past say fractal level 20 would have been enough (entire party wrote “NOOOO”). If they don’t have time for fractals in their spare time or at work, well, one visit to the forum would have been easy.
There’s no follow-up after they’ve pushed out something. It remains lackluster/bugged until they plan to revisit things.
Dungeon rewards haven’t been properly tweaked. SE P2 is so much longer than P1 and P3, but same reward. CoF P3 is not like P1 or P2. These are simple gold numbers we’re talking about.
I hope that the people controlling what to make don’t look at dungeons and think “Nobody’s playing this! Let’s not make more of it.” instead of finding out what the issues are.
Aw, what the hell, one last time:
AC: Fine
CM: Fine
TA: Fine, increase incentive for doing Aetherpath
…TA is not fine. Its missing a path. TAFU mysteriously disappeared at some point in the first season of LS.
…
Wasn’t that path removed because of LS or something? If so, perhaps consider putting TAFU in fractals.
But what I think Spoj was getting at is this:
Deleting content for the sake of the living story people is a slap in the face. It’s the same principle behind why the fractal reset was ridiculous. Add and construct, don’t delete and destroy. More choice, more content, more options.
I just want to say again: I enjoy this content and am willing to pay to support its development. I’m not willing to pay $10 for a gemstore armor or for gambling boxes. I’m not sure how you can monetize dungeons, (assuming that’s the real issue behind their lack of development,) but maybe think about that.
In the past they were packaged in with expansions, which is how they were monetized. Now, with the focus on LS, if you have no incentive to improve dungeons for lack of money/resources, maybe consider how that equation can be flipped around.
Honestly, as long as we’re seeing improvements in fractals, I’m okay with the number of dungeons we have. I’d love to see more, but I realize that time/resources are finite. That being said, there feels like a lot that still needs to be addressed from the fractal CDI that we had awhile back. #1 for me was the rewards.
The rewards in fractals feel tremendously underwhelming. I think it’s a crummy feeling to spend more time doing harder content and to see 1g50s and a bunch of currency (with hardly any value/uses) as a reward. It feels like a waste of time.
That being said, sometimes you do get something worthwhile, but this isn’t the most commonplace thing. Every time I finish a fractal, I feel like I’m rolling a die (did I get something awesome or did I get nothing again), but when I finish an Arah path I know I’m getting something back for the time I spent in that dungeon. I think gold rewards, alone, would be a significant boost the satisfaction that an individual would get from completing a fractal without making ascended weapons/armor or fractal skins drop like candy. It’d be nice because you’d be (at least) finishing the fractal knowing that your time spent wasn’t entirely for rolling a die that isn’t likely to give you something worthwhile.
So, adding consistency to the rewards or adding value to pristines/ordinary fractal relics would be a good first step, but the addition of fractals would be hugely beneficial as well.
I look forward to seeing more fractals and seeing more content in group, instanced PvE, and I hope to see a lot of expansion upon our current fractals.

I’m sorry but if you are going to hold a grudge and have 0 willingness to try and help fixing it, when we KNOW now they’re actually trying to listen (just Regina bringing up the bug thread which has long since been past the 10th page in this subforum is enough to convince me that they have at least gotten our message in a bottle), those of us willing to try don’t need you.

Sorry, but my hope is gone.
^
I see a lot of PR in there, as always, and more tasks to keep us occupied, as to make us think that they’re interested in making changes. I’ll let the deluded, optimistic people do it.
In the meantime, I’ll contemplate my intense disappointment…. I’ve been a loyalist of the gw franchise for over 8 years. My faith has been unfaltering ’til one year ago.
Owell.
I can still rerun the same, boring dungeons for a few months before I get completely burnt out. Just for the sake of friends.
We are two.
And if they at least bothered to fix the bugs that plague dungeons since like always, it would already be a slight step forward -.-

As ironic as it is, I’ve seen this post before too.
just make 100 new dungeons paths the guys complaining about the no new dungeon content will complain how hard it is and go back to do cof p1 and p2 and ac p1 and p3.
So much rage about no new stuff when most ppl raging haven’t fully enjoyed everything the game as to offer it’s just insane. I play since beta weekend 1 with no breaks and you know why? if i get bored doing something i just move on and do something different… if i actually don’t feel like doing anything i just roam and help ppl around offer myself to “initiation” party’s for fractals or dungeons it’s fun and i feel helpful, the rewards may be crap (obviously i don’t do the most gold/hour) but i get to meet new friendly and fun ppl while having fun enjoying the game isn’t that the game objective?
So the devs not working on anything new on the dungeons matter… big deal they are working on something… they don’t get payed to sit all day… so soon or later i will enjoy what they working on right now.

This is a very, very good point. I immediately stopped doing fractals when the novelty wore off. I could do AC 123/TA U+F/CoF 1+2/SE 1+3/Arah 1+2 in a few hours and make 21 gold, a gazillion greens/blues/mats, countless dungeon tokens, and a ton of levels if I was working on an alt.
A fractal PUG or two could take all night and I’d end up with, at best, 3g and an Ascended Ring that’s worth ~5s, since I can’t even salvage it for Dragonite/Bloodstone/Emphyreal mats.
If the rewards were more balanced for the time/effort required, I’d consider it, but otherwise it will always feel like a waste of time. This is one of the reasons my heart sank when the interview said, more or less, “only new fractals in the future.”
I don’t think I’ve even done the recycled fractals that were added in the last patch since it’s just not worth missing a dungeon tour for.

Making dungeons worthwhile in 3 easy steps
Step 1: Rewards: You know why no one plays most dungeons? Because their rewards are awful.
Step 2: Improve the AI
Yeah, I’m not certain as to how to respond to this.
1. Dungeons are incredibly rewarding. They offer the best (or most consistent) in terms of gold rewards that you could hope for in game.
2. Improve the AI? Easy? Really? So the second step in the “easy” fix to dungeons is just rework 100% of mob AI from the ground up? I’m sure that could be done during someone’s lunchbreak, because reworking all of the different mob types (think about how many mobs there are in dungeons for a minute) would be a crazy ridiculous amount of work.

What? These people are posting here exactly because they have exhausted the dungeon content for 2 years now and need something new, this isn’t the casual crowd that thinks AC p1 is challenging and Lupicus needs to be nerfed.

Gold rewards are unbalanced, and fractal rewards are RNG. That’s a pretty easy improvement right there. Despite what you said, I’ve been told that farming nets you more gold than a dungeon tour.
I agree AI takes more work.

Suggesting that someone should not suggest improvements to one game mode simply because others exist is irrelevant and widely misses the point. Also, those who participate in this dungeon forum, by and large, are not PHIW casuals discouraged by “tough” content. Just the opposite.

Seeing as how doing a casual dungeon tour nets 30+gold a day, and doing every tier of fractals per day would net less than 10g in terms of guaranteed rewards, I’d say that farming fractals is significantly less rewarding on a day to day basis. Again, you can argue that RNG will bridge this gap, but my point is that when RNG isn’t on your side it leaves a bad taste in your mouth and turns people off of doing that content at all.
I don’t think the AI needs to be prioritized in any capacity. It would take a crazy amount of manhours so that we can do exactly the same content that we do today, but with slightly different strategies.

I get where you’re coming from: there are other modes of play besides dungeons, just switch.
We do. We do world events to get dragonite. We do map completion to get Gifts of Exploration to craft Legendaries. We play WvW for karma and dragonite. Some of us PvP just to do something different.
But we enjoy dungeons. And after two years, we feel it’s reasonable to have expected some new content. They added Aetherpath. One path with much higher difficulty and a low reward. And to add injury to insult, they took away an existing path to put it in.
Somewhat off topic, there were some minor balancing problems in Twilight Arbor’s Forward/Up path. Why oh why was the path killed off, rather than simply reducing the number of adds at the Nightmare Tree? Does the new aetherpath run through old parts of TAFU? Would it be possible to restore it? It really was a fun path.
A new dungeon could easily be worked into the lore of the LS, and as Regina finally confirmed, it is a manpower issue. They have the same team that is responsible for designing dungeons balancing WvW and PvP, which is just an insane workload.
You guys need to expand. Bring back some of the old talent that designed dungeons the first time around, let them learn from their mistakes and try again. The glassdoor reviews seem to be right — management is clueless if they think that’s a reasonable division of labor.
This is an MMO, not a single player game. The key difference between the two is that a single player game is played for 30 hours, finished, and put aside. An MMO is played for 1000+ hours, and players are expected to put in a lot of effort to get to endgame and stay around to fund the game. New content is expected if we’re to stick around for that long. Otherwise, it comes across as a message that the game is not made for people that want to play for years, which is an odd decision for an MMO.
So yeah, it’s fair to expect new content.

As other people are saying, Living Story just doesn’t have the replay value dungeons have. You basically do it once for the story, then a few times to get the achievements. Development manpower should be focused on content that has stronger replay value, such as dungeons, WvW and SAB, NOT content that’s abandoned after being played for an hour or two.
For those who didn’t see, Chris just posted this about improving dungeon rewards:
“This is something we have discussed many times and that I would like us to do.”

I think even Anet was aware of the fact that a storyline is less replayable than other content because of how much they stressed the “branching” storyline. The idea was that you could play through it many times and have a very different experience instead of getting exactly the same story over and over. I don’t understand why anyone would prefer content that has zero re-playability over content that is enjoyable for weeks or months.

Quoted for truth. ANet is certainly giving us content and permanent content at that. It has been enjoyable content. But the replay value is incredibly low. The Living Story is not the right kind of content to keep people busy for longer periods, nor is it that great to play in groups (at least for me. I want to do story things at my own pace, listen to dialogue, read carefully, not be distracted by what people are saying on Mumble, etc.) This game desperately needs more intimate group content, for groups of 5-10 people… new dungeons, new fractals, something like Underworld, FoW, Urgoz, more Guild Missions.. things to bring people in guilds together more than one to two times, in my humble opinion.
I don’t think calling people immature for voicing their opinions is very mature (get it?).
No offense guys but ease up with the walls of text if you want them to bother reading what we have to say. Thinking about this realistically and considering how they’re all apparently so busy, do you really think they’re going to take the time to read all of our posts?

Add a random tileset for all dungeons, all monsters within, all skills of those monsters, and all strengths and weaknesses of those monsters. Make the map random, look at Warframe…it is decent but the dungeon is never really truly the same. prevent people from rerolling to an easier tileset within a time set.
stop trying to be an esport game so soon, you have years to develop this, dont pay for the less important things before you pay the NEEDED bills if you get what i mean.
Something that would help is if you could gather a thread for each dungeon (perhaps you’ve all already created one per dungeon?), and list out the major changes that you feel the dungeons would need to make them better, in concise bullet points. That way it’s easier for us to provide them to the development team.
Regina, shouldn’t you create those threads yourself and sticky them if you were honestly concerned about our feedback on the matter? Putting it in players hands will mean a very mismanaged and disorganized series of repeating threads if at all.
Also, aside from the imbalance with rewards to time for dungeons, I honestly think that what many of us were hoping for with dungeons was not changes to current ones but rather whole new paths or new dungeons on top of the ones that currently exist.
So, that’s one of the things that’s disappointing us.
I don’t think calling people immature for voicing their opinions is very mature (get it?).

Look. I like to think you and I never had problems before. But right now the posts I’m seeing make it extremely clear you need a little bit of a reality check. We are adults. We need to act like it.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
A lot of people are saying they want new dungeons, that what they don’t want to see is just revamps of old dungeons. But you need to be realistic. That just isn’t going to happen, not anywhere in the near future at any rate.
An entirely new dungeon would be a huge investment on Arenanet’s part at this point. Their focus for quite some time now has been on taking existing game assets and revitalizing and revamping them. That’s what you should expect for any development of dungeons.
Someone might say “But they’ve added new Fractals!” The reason they’re more open to new Fractals is that they’re shorter, they don’t require the art team to create 3 new armour sets (and instead existing Fractal loot tables can just be used) and they can incorporate them into Living Story. Multi-path, 5 man dungeons do not fit into that.
So let’s concentrate on what we can get done. Revamping the existing dungeon content is what Arenanet is open to (as evidenced by this thread) so let’s try and get that happening. CDIs are opening up again, so we should focus on getting dungeons into that discussion, and let the developers know which encounters and paths need changes, and how to improve reward systems.
I never said people can’t say what they want. People responded to my plea for constructiveness with childish and ridiculous entitlement. I am trying to do what the dev asks for. And I’m not going to let the stupid negativity make my efforts fail. Those of us willing to work toward a better game don’t need you.
Kindly, respectfully, sh.
I very much hope the ‘you’ you’re using is a general ‘you’ addressing the people you feel responded negatively to your earlier posts.. and not referring to me.. as if it’s the later.. that’s really out of line. Whilst I will not be participating in outlining anything for revamps (as I don’t think it’s needed and ANet has has loads of feedback in these forums for a long while now), I have still kept my posts respectful and am allowed to express my opinion.
“You” is very obviously referring to the out of line negative “too little too late” posters (many of whom I love as people but just can’t believe their immaturity right now).
I’m not being “that” negative…just being honest. I’ll suck it up and post something constructive soon…just getting all my thoughts together.

No, it wasn’t very obvious (thanks for the condescenion.. :/), ie I felt the need to clarify. Thank you for doing so.
Disappointing to think that going forward the Fractals model is what they’re sticking too.
Doing the same content on X difficulties strikes me as lazy design.
What would dungeons look like in GW3 if they continue down this path? Dread to think.

Same. I got a ban for it.
Anyway nothing will be solved unless we make it crystal clear how displeased we are. So i dont agree with Lilith in censoring our posts. My only hope is that the sheer numbers of complaints on here and reddit will make anet seriously think about dedicating more resources to new content with high replayability value. Its encouraging to see a lot of posters ive never seen before in the dungeon forum supporting us.
But i also want to make it clear that even if this does encourage anet to change. Its going to be a while before we see a result. And I and many others probably wont be around for it. You cant expect us to stick around forever especially as we have now found at that you have nothing in the making right now.

In no way is that post anything like how a 4 year old would behave. It’s an adult expressing his/her opinion on how past events have taken place and the likelihood of the same actions/processes returning a different outcome. (edit: honestly it feels like you’re being a bit rude to some people here [maybe personal histories I don’t know about] and are potentially inflaming thing even more. So participate in what Regina wants and maybe just ignore the posts you feel that are unhelpful? Seems more constructive rather than bordering on insulting people.)

Guess so. When you feel like helping to try to make the game better, I know everyone working on the feedback threads would appreciate your input.
Bottom line is: I’m not giving up on the game I love. And I don’t think that if you have given up, words like I’ve been seeing arent all that helpful and are more damaging to the community as a whole. That’s all.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Also sadfais, I got an infraction for talking about Archeage on page 2 :<
Same. I got a ban for it.
Meanwhile, Nova doesn’t get punished at all. Obviously internet dating the forum moderator.

Same here. Every post said I got an infraction, but I think three of those served as a warning and the fourth one gave me the actual infraction point.
Something that would help is if you could gather a thread for each dungeon (perhaps you’ve all already created one per dungeon?), and list out the major changes that you feel the dungeons would need to make them better, in concise bullet points. That way it’s easier for us to provide them to the development team.
Every time there’s a public outcry about something, this is what Anet asks for. People are foolish enough to oblige. It cools them off because they think Anet is finally listening. And Anet gets away with doing nothing.
For example, see WvW forum: this has happened several times there already.

This is true, but there’s a fundamental alternative here.
1. Maintain hope and give Regina what she’s asking for.
2. Assume all is vain.
If you take option 2, why even bother posting here any more?
Is there a third path? Is there some way to get what you want WITHOUT helping Regina out?

Nevets… you’re much better at PR Than I. Thanks for speaking what I was fumbling with.

I’m sorry but Anet isn’t a sloth demon. They don’t sit there finding excuses to be lazy. You want Anet to listen? Treat them as if they’re humans with human limitations, capable of having stress, don’t like having their toes stepped on, or being yelled at and insulted, and actually provide constructive criticism (as per the standards listed in the sticky on the general discussion forum I do believe, and not some rude, self-esteem inflated kittenization of constructive criticism in which the devs are outright insulted).
Today was a definite wake up call for the group of people I play with. Literally have been using the phrase “GW2 is dead and buried” since too much is being done on living story while neglecting the entire rest of the game.
This community has long been overlooked and actively ignored. Bringing back TA F/UP would be a step in the right direction, as a gesture of goodwill.
