Actually you did not throw me a bone or anything else. It is impossible to throw physical objects through written electronic communication. Are there any particular dictionaries you would like me to use to link the definitions of “throw” and “bone” for you?
I just figured since you could not extrapolate from Hjorje’s post when I assumed he used shareholders as a a metaphor for people who take figurative ownership in the game, you did not understand metaphor even though you could search for a definition. Certainly you couldn’t know that he may have just used a wrong word and were crass enough to point it out.
I was just playing by your rules and taking what you “advertised” about throwing bones literally. Because certainly, throwing bones cannot be interpreted in any other way than actually physically throwing a bone. Playing by your logic. Not mine.

Hjorje made a mistake and used the wrong term. he admitted it and corrected it. it was mature and very respectable, and i applaud him for that.
I find it entertaining and refreshing that the devs are willing to engage in the community and talk about what they are considering for the future. I don’t consider them promises, though it can get frustrating when teased features don’t come to pass (Shooting Gallery anyone?) It’s clear to me they intended to include this but just couldn’t get it done. It happens. It’s not like they sold the game based on this one feature.
If you really want the devs to clam up and hide behind the walls of Anet, then keep looking at every floated idea as a firm contract and bashing them when they don’t live up to their faux “promises.”

If they would not post anything that had the slightest risk to get delayed they would never be able to post anything at all.

Okay, so your suggestion is Anet doesn’t mention anything at all to anyone until they’re ready to ship..by which time it’s far too late to have feedback. The community can’t have it both ways. Either they want to be involved with the creation process, or they don’t.
If Anet waits until things are set in stone to annouce stuff, the fans get no time to react to it, and in that case they should just accept anything Anet does.
If the fans want to be involved, they need to understand creative process, iterative process and long distance scheduling of complex projects.
What Anet is saying is we didn’t make this deadline, not that it’s not going to happen. How many games have had delayed released dates, due to unforseen circumstances. Many.
Worse still, how many games (including this one in my opinion) have launched early, at least partly because of growing pressure from the playerbase.
People need to learn some patience. Stuff that comes out three months late isn’t stuff that isn’t coming.
How would these same people react if Anet rushed these things out and they didn’t work?

What, exactly, were we supposed to be giving feedback on? They didn’t give us anything to give feedback on so I don’t see it.

And it’s also amusing how you think anet listens to feedback unless something blows up in their faces like with cultural armor fiasco from a little while ago. And they certainly have listened to all the feedback they’ve been given on Scarlett.
They sure didn’t listen when last September (2012) when they told us they were working on the precursor scavenger hunt and they got thousands of posts talking about it and how much it was needed.
So I ask again what feedback we were supposed to be give? And don’t get me wrong I’m not saying they shouldn’t say anything. They did come through with some things on their list just not the important things most people wanted.
All I’m saying is if there was a risk something wasn’t gonna get done (and they knew there was a chance, hence the warning that nothing was concrete in the list) then they shouldn’t have mentioned it.

There have been times in the past when Anet has used suggestions from players before something was finished, because they had time to incorporate them.
They announce something which causes players to talk. Players talking is more grist for the mill. If Anet surprises us with something no one is ready for, then many will complain that they had no say. In reality they’ve had no chance to get used to or brace themselves for it. Very often the dialogue of the community helps drive development whether you believe it or not.
Anet said at one point that there would be no way to walk in this game. People complained and Anet put walk into the game. They couldn’t have complained if Anet hadn’t made a statement.
There are always things in any development project that aren’t going to change, but there are things that can.
If you don’t think Anet keeps their ear to the ground, you’re not paying attention. They won’t walk away from their core direction, but they will certainly incorporate ideas from the fan base. And they can’t do that if a dialogue isn’t opened in the first place.
-There will be new unlockable skills and traits.
-New legendary weapons.
-New types of legendary equipment (possibly a trinket).
-New precursor acquisition methods (I am aware that Arenanet later announced that this would be postponed)
Sort of. – ascended crafting seems like an acceptable suitable stop-gap until they can the legendary stuff in place.

-It will be possible to gain legendary weapon skins in sPvP.
-Additional rewards and growth will be added to the major competitive sPvP tournaments.
Sort of, in development. – it will be possible to share skins between the two modes and sPvP will yield gold/xp. You won’t be able to acquire the weapon in sPvP though (at least officially).

I understand what you are saying, but on the other hand, if they don’t announce anything until it is done or a for sure thing, they would get just as many people crying that they never say anything about what is happening with the future of the game.
I think it is a Catch 22 for them.
