I don’t know how not having a chest for the time being equates to “misery”. I’m sure that the investigation process has the potential to yield useful info for later, similar situations. Let them do what they need to do without constant and continual harassment and complaints. These guys cannot get a break from a certain segment of the player base even when they are sincerely trying to correct a problem.

It’s too soon to do this. It may take a few days before they’re able to get the script to process for every server. You’ll have people saying no and then posting later to say yes. This kind of polling is fundamentally wonky anyway, so it’ll be double wonky!
Can’t find the thread back (probably merged) but a guy, after complaining at support, has shown the answer saying that everyone that had the glitch received it, and that the script is over.
EDIT: Just check the merging thread. Everyone who complains receives it.

Hi there;
At this time, we have finished delivering the rewards for the Lost Shores event to all accounts that qualified. This was done through a coding script for any account found to have qualified for the chest. If you have not received a chest then you most likely did not meet the requirements to have these items added to your account.
Now that said there does also appear to be some issues with the mail system. It seems mail boxes are getting stuck and not receiving new mails even when they are not full. So I would suggest clearing out everything in that mail box; after making sure to grab any items or money in there. That should allow more room for those pending mails to arrive. We have heard some cases where only deleting a few mails still didn’t allow the pending mails to arrive properly (for example some players may even show 1 out of 10 mails but still won’t get new ones). So I would again suggest making sure everything has been deleted in there, just to make sure there is nothing at all preventing the mails from being received.
As this was done through an automated process we have no way to manually award this chest. So if after you empty your mail the chest still doesn’t arrive, then your account was not found to have qualified for a restoration and I’m afraid you will not receive the chest.

Sure , some people that dont go to event get chest ok, and others that looted like 2 or 3 chest get another chest, and some people who only lot the normal chest, and not get the email, will complains as always cause these unfair.

Many people got more than chest, many others got none…want them to check every account and take the extra chests from people who got more than 1 and give 1 to people who got none?
The amount of time and effort is just not worth it. Just reward the players who got no chest with the script and move forward. The game needs all time and resources to move forward.

Honestly what I’m more pissed off at this point with is the fact that the official tally on people that I know is that there has been 8 people now who’ve gotten 2 chests. 3 who’ve gotten one. Of those 11, 7 of them were online and popped the chest at the event.
I however have still not gotten any. And I dc several times.

yes it does and this thread was created after the email and before the response from the thread mod and incase u didnt read the thread the mod posted in she is looking for players who didnt attend and still go the chest
Exactly….harm has been done and the script solution also failed. Better to give a chest to everyone who got none with the script than loosing more time and resources with this issue.

That’s not an official tally. An official tally would come from ANet and I doubt you will see one. The tally you are counting is of a bunch of nameless, faceless people on the internet who may have already gotten the chest and think posting they didn’t get it may score them another one. Or that couldn’t attend the event anyways but are making noise to just give it away all over again because they missed it for reasons other than technical issues.
Your tally is as credible as one id have if I were to walk down mainstreet and scream “Which transient did I not give a dollar to this month?”

If i remember correctly Trion with the first world event in Rift sent a reward to every active character, fluffy stuff, nice to have, kind of them to send, happy ending of the story.
a better way to end the missery would be for people to realize life isn’t always fair. Anet is trying their best. The chest really isn’t the most important thing in the world and we should all just move on.

My mailbox is always empty, because I delete new mails right after reading them.
Their best is just not good enough…
IMO just do a 4 month roll back, and start over.
Really the best thing to do would be to roll servers back to before the patch went live. Yes, deleting about a months worth of progress for everybody would be better then anything that came out of that update, it was the biggest mess I have ever seen.
As that isn’t going to happen then they should just do what the thread says and give the rest of the people the reward and move on and hopefully learn in the future that giving out anywhere up to 100s of gold of rewards while simultaneously denying that content to a large portion of your playerbase isn’t a good idea.

By that logic, why not just give a chest to everyone (or just not bother trying to get it to anyone who missed it)?
I mean, life isn’t fair, so why should Anet lose any sleep over making sure that only the players that attended get a chest (i.e. being fair)?
Personally I don’t think that some huge investigation over a chest is worth Anet spending tons of time and resources on.
There’s definitely a lot of lessons to be learned from that event.
I think the best lesson for right now is to learn to walk away and cut your losses. November was doomed, they just don’t have the chops to pull things like that off. Can’t even get the damage-control appease-the-masses gesture to work right.

If it’s relevant I did the previous two events with only the issues that were plaguing everyone (borked scavenger hunt NPCs, ect).
Attended/Got disconnected during ancient fight, no loot/Looted in Overflow/no mail. So technically, I should have gotten one mailed to me as well since I faught the ancient twice…but, I’d rather they sent that one to someone who couldn’t attend due to the Holiday season.

…and give a chest to whomever did not got one with your script today. Lets move forward and forget the last event. Your client base has reason, do not waste more time and resources checking who got what…just do it, send a chest by mail and stop this bad blood.

A company that wants to keep its costumers happy and avoids mistakes over mistakes because at the end of the day, 1 incompetent can jeopardize the jobs of all the others in the long run…
10 points for effort, 3 points for execution.
I tried hard to work through the lagfest first stage. Did the quests up to second stage till the 3vent bugged out. I thought I’d get back to it after work on monday. Got back hpme to find out the third event was completed, and I’d missed out on some Phat loot. Was a little miffed but hey, not the end of the world.
Then there was the whole d/c issue, Anet said theyld fix it and they have certaiy attempted to. Unfortunately they seem to have done as poor a job of fixing it ad they did of the event itself. When I saw on the forums that people who’d never participated in the evnt at all were getting a chest, I thought they’d taken the easy and smart route and just given everyone a chest. This would have enabled Anet to draw a line under the evnt and the community would have moved on.
Now unfortunately we have this debacle. Now we’ll have another month of hate whining on the forums.
TY for your hard work in trying to fix this issue Anet, but I believe you have failed and you now need to take a serious look and whatever monitoring and metric systems you have runnin in game. Moving Forward (ty Chris) I’d like to suggest you send a chest to everyone and move onto your Christmas event with fingers crossed that this waont happen again

At long as everyone gets at least one, it’s remotely fair.
I have to agree with the general sentiment; just make a list of all accounts, remove the people that actually received chests yesterday, and then give chests to the rest. Spending time trying to figure out the ins & outs of why the script didn’t hit all the right people is not time well spent at this point. Just give it to everyone and call it a day.

You didn’t answer my question. Do you work for a company? What kind of company do you work for? Does your company lay off workers when a small percentage of customers voice their displeasure? I wonder how a company like this manages to retain skilled, experienced workers, since they’ll be firing people all the time.

That´s how companies get rich and powerful.
What kind of customers does your company serve. Actual consumers? Or do you have other companies as major clients? How legitimate are the customer’s complaints? What is the complaint directed towards? If an actual error occured, which department should bear the responsibility? Was it a management error? Was it a technical issue? After all that, does a company fire an individual on just one example of incompetence? Multiple? Is the employee essential? Will firing that employee cause any problems with the development cycle? Is the employee’s skillset easily replaced?
There’s many many MANY questions companies have to consider when you lay off workers. If you really think firing people is something that simple, I really question whether you’ve worked in a professional company or not. And I really question whether you should be making statements like “Man, if this happened in any other company, heads will roll” because you just end up sounding silly.

i got the chest from my mail but i highly agree that they should’ve just sent it to everyone – to those who did it, to those who got disconnected, and to those who weren’t able to do it. the investigation is a waste of time.
