You didn’t answer my question. Do you work for a company? What kind of company do you work for? Does your company lay off workers when a small percentage of customers voice their displeasure? I wonder how a company like this manages to retain skilled, experienced workers, since they’ll be firing people all the time.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a company or a team or whatever. Sometimes you try things that just don’t go well. You can try to patch it and fix it, but sometimes it’s better to just admit defeat and get away from it. Whether it’s the Apple Newton, New Coke, or Waterworld…

Same with Lost Shores. Cut your losses and get out.

Tried to do the event with people who got on later in an overflow but the servers were taken down in the middle of it.

Tried like crazy but lagged so bad it was like watching a photograph every 3 to 4 seconds. No e-mail

Attended, was disconnected after about 90 minutes (before event was complete). Subsequently logged into an overflow server. About 2-2.5 hours later, overflow event completed. Looted chest. Did not receive mail.

(was on overflow … stuck in loading (respawn-fell thru floor in lava near boss) had to end process… couldn’t login for 30 minutes… when logged in … nothing/nobody there anymore on main or overflow)

Received in the mail but did not attend. I opened the chest but I don’t want to be banned for using the items.

I attended 5 or so. (on main. kept getting kicked after halfway done)
No chest on any until the last (finally was not kicked).
Switched to an alt, attended 3 more (kicked all 3 times).
Got the mail. (I assume it was for my alt that tried so hard, but never completed)
So… my main was rewarded from the event, and alt from the mail. It ‘worked’.

Another account (roommate playing alongside me).
1 character attended twice.
Looted chest the final time.
Switched to alt and attended 2-3 more times.
No chest for the alt.
No mail.
So main was rewarded with chest, and alt was not rewarded at all. It ‘failed’.

Can’t figure it out.

I can’t give a unbiased opinion of this fiasco, but i can say that i am deeply insulted.

It is a sad world when some people try their hardest to ammend a wrong, and others preach for their doom just because the solution was not perfect.

The reality is this. I don’t care if I get a freaking chest, I would just like to see ANet do SOMETHING broad spectrum rather then set up a script where clearly people are not getting treated equally. I don’t care if it’s fluff items or what. I bothers me to see people getting stuff who never even attended the event and people that wasted their time through hours of slogging through the lag fest only to get nothing, and still be screwed over by not getting anything in the end.

Further into that too, is the fact that nobody has stepped up and stated what the “qualifiers” for the new chest are. Official responses to tickets being opened on the matter of having dc and not receiving anything is “sorry, you just didn’t qualify.” What I don’t understand with this is how if someone “didn’t qualify” people that are getting chests and got to loot the chest at the event did qualify. Cause that makes total sense… I think that’s the biggest thing that needs to be addressed.

Yes they are trying to amend the wrong, but they’re creating more wrongs in the process. I applaud an effort, but clearly something is wrong here.

If people did not even log on during the event and are receiving the chests in the mail, how does “This was done through a coding script for any account found to have qualified for the chest” come into play?

I for one did not log on during the event (or that whole week actually). If I do happen to get the mail, cool. If not? Still cool in book.

I agree with the OP. Just give everyone a chest that didn’t get one, or if that’s impossible, just give EVERYONE another chest. Some people get three, that’s fine. People are more upset about not being able to participate/get the chest than other people getting them. Also, 3 chests to one chest is much less of an advantage than two chests to zero chests.

It’ll make people with jobs happy, it’ll make people who gave up after lag happy, it’ll make Australia happy (well, that might be an exaggeration).

You’re clearly working very hard to try and make this right, and it’s very much appreciated. I honestly think this is the best way to take the sting out of this and avoid further alienating the fanbase with real life commitments and who live in the wrong time zone.

What amazes me is how diligently they are analizing who did not received any chest to be awarded ONE when many people got SEVERAL chests (several chars at event day + mail today) or got a chest by mail without even participating in the event and in the Account Issues forum has already been acknowledgeded that people who got several chests have nothing to fear and can keep everything.

Why not giving a chest to whomever did not got 1 today by mail?

This is just my opinion but i think everyone will receive one, i just think they are sending them out in waves to keep the Trading post from tanking (as everyone will dump some exotics on it at once)..

As i said just my opinion, if not this is another messed up incident.

Exactly! I believe they are sincerely trying to correct the wrong but the fact is, as you say, that many people got several chests and they will keep them.

So, giving ONE to everyone is so simple and effective that I can not believe it is not been implemented yet, while much valuable time and resources are used to no avail.

Tried to attend (stuck in log-in screen/charater select for 2 hours) / no loot/no mail

I did not attend the final part of the event, but I got the mail yesterday.

I did participate during the first day of the event – there were lots of delays with various parts of the event bugging out – and based on that experience I chose to skip the rest of it. I did go to the new zone on the last day and ran along with a big crowd through some events there, but as I understand it that was not the ‘big’ event that awarded the chest.

All the items from the first day of the event were (and still are) in the inventories of the characters I played that day, so – could that be why I got the mail?

Anyway, I got the mail with the karka chest. No precursor, though. I got a couple of yellow items (rifle and light armor boots), a couple of exotic items (a focus and a short bow with a celtic sounding name), the 20-slot karka thingee, and a really nice accessory item.

So… thanks! And here’s hoping everyone who should have got the karka chest gets the karka chest.

Unfortunately that is not the case. Please read all Gaile Gray posts in “Karka Chest Distribution [merged]” in the Account Issues forum.

Today something went wrong again.

By giving it to everyone it would just create more problems tbh. The people who participated in the event and crashed still ended up getting only one chest after all these problems whilst the people who originally was able to loot the chest basically got another one which has the same loot table as the original.

- Since Anet heard and resolved this issue, I will return next week for the Winter Event. While it will be a few months before I start spending money on gems again (since I bought a whole slew of other games on my break from GW2), I am glad that Anet took care of this issue. My faith is now partially restored.
