This is my story and just wondering if I would eligible for the chest although I technically don’t fulfill the requirement.
On the final day, I was all ready to go and had my PC booted up to attend the event which had started like 10 minutes ago. Before starting up the GW2 client, I saw my friend online on MSN. So I asked him about it since I assumed he was attending in the event.
He told me (more or less accurate): “Event is unplayable atm as it’s lagging like hell”.
After a small conversation, I changed my mind to attending it as it didn’t sound like fun from his experience, so I went to check a movie instead.
Just to find out the next day the reward the event gave, which was pretty massive, not to mention you actually had a chance to receive a precursor. So the thing is, if I knew there would’ve been such a massive reward for it (I assumed there wouldn’t, based on the Halloween events which I attended and they were merely an animation sequence). Then I wouldn’t have minded torturing myself through the massive lag and so on as the reward would’ve justified it by far.
Thank you for listening and I wouldn’t want to bother Customer Support unless you think it’s a justified reason.
Me personally i say no, the event was a 3 hour grindfest ( it was very fun ) although laggy, you decided to watch a film and do no work at all. So i dont think you deserve the awesome rewards. Just my opinion.
Thank you for the reply and opinion. But based on the posts I’ve been reading. Some didn’t even attend in it for longer than 1 minute due to being disconnected / leaving due to the unplayable state and they still got their rewards.
Yes i heard about that, my stepdad attended and looted and he got a chest too, ( of which i was very jealous lol ). The rewards are epic and i think they should be for those people who did stay with the event for 3 days ( or at least the final battle ). It was a way of ANET thanking the community for the support ( IMO ). You can still get the awesome exotic Karka shell accessory by saving up 1000 of the karka shells that drop from them, and that way at least you would feel like you earned the rewards.

I definitely didn’t take part in the final event because I was on a train during it. I might have logged into Lions Arch right at the end to check in on my guild then logged off. The only things I recall doing during the update weekend were exploring Lost Shores, failing a jump puzzle and that was that. I don’t recall doing any event due to how busy I was.
Info on the distribution here. We will help those who qualified who did not receive a chest will be assisted through Support tickets, although I believe at this point that number will be pretty small.
Can someone help me out with how a few guildies of mine received the karka chest mail, without even logging in that weekend? Whereas I played the opening event, did some of the second event, missed the finale…and get no mail?
Was there some glitch that sent chests out to random people? Was the script broken?
Did first act 1 & 2, couldnt attend the final act 3 cause my young kids needed me.
A big gratz to everyone who got a KarkaChest twice or more, big gratz at people who didnt do any stage at the event and got a KarkaChest in their mail.
People who attended with alts even more.
Life is that way, some got everything, some got nothing.
Deal with it and i hope the script hes done with it, for the sake of players i want
that the script is finished now so we can go on, satisfied or not.

Did not attend the final fase / No loot / No mail.
I attended, looted the chest and as far as I remember I just got the items directly.
I’ve got the shell and the bag, and got a couple of pieces of armor as well, but they all came straight from the chest rather than being inside another box and definately didn’t come from the mail system.

Mind you I attended on my level 11 Thief and got disconnected twice during the event. When I looted the chest I got pretty much nothing in terms of value, except the ancient karka shell and chest. I received a chest in the mail today and opened it with my level 80, receiving two exotics, two rares, and the karka stuff again, and I can confirm I’m happy even though I didn’t get a precursor.
My condolences to anyone who didn’t get a chest, you guys deserve it too.
I did the event with my Level 64 thief, due to the temporary level scaling. I wish they had been clear that the final chest would scale the loot down to the character level. I would have done the event with one of my level 80 characters. (I think I hit level 80 with the Thief about a week later. Scaling might make sense for a game with a steep leveling curve, but not here. Really sucks to hear that people getting the rewards via mail got level 80 exotics, even if they were lower level during the event)!!!
Attended the initial event on friday. Did not even log in saturday. Attempted to log in sunday for the final event, but couldnt get past the patcher. Logged in after the event was over for my server, and did not get into an overflow still running the event.
I recieved a mail with the Karka chest.
Very generous, but then I would have attended the event if the servers had been able to handle the loads and not stick me with the login screen. – Either way, happy they gave me the chest, unhappy with the overall event.
I’ve read the Anet posts but I still don’t really understand how the script could be so error-ridden. People received chests who never attended the event (nor even logged in) and then others received nada for attending.
Maybe I’m being too simplistic but I would have thought checks of
*Attended final event, however insignificant input was
*Event finished, chest appeared (I know this wasn’t checked at all or that something went wrong with it)
*Didn’t loot the chest
What went wrong exactly?

One thing i want to point out is that only if i know this event is character-wide one time but not account-wide. I have several alts and enough time to do this event more than 5 times.
And why are ppl looted still getting the chest?
This useless bar doesn’t make you awesome. However, stuff above does.
I was running to the final event just as it ended because i had just got home from work. I missed it, didn’t loot any chest, cleared the map, and left.
Recently i got an ancient karka chest, opened it, and made about 40 gold for free from the contents.
