Sounds like we agree!

More or less. I just think the group that is really disenfranchised is probably smaller as a percentage of the playerbase than most people think.

I am sad the nearest thing we have of an Asian/Canthan theme are those new guild banners . They look like Sashimono .

Been Waiting for quite awhile for something like this. Was Suggested long ago ,but now we have something….close to it anyway. Thing of it is, I saw the picture, was like Neat. Read the discription lost interest in it. Too bad Anet couldn’t make to where we could craft the kitten things.

Only thing I’m looking forward to seeing if maybe Anet fixed Super Water Rune (Superior Rune of the Water).

Because it’s harder to fix stuff that’s not working than it is to program it in the first place. That’s where all the time is going.

From the programmers I know who work in the games industry, it’s usually more work to build a whole game than fix parts of it. Especially as few parts as I mentioned. Most MMOs fire half their team when they go live, which slows the production speed. they did not.

At any rate, no, I don’t see the current content coming out as fast as the game went together. My theory is that they ARE working on an expansion but they are saying they are not so that they don’t put their foot in their mouth again.

All this “these people are negative, these people are enjoying the game” are ways to simplify people into groups so you can point out the “bad people”. Most people Like the game, but dislike parts of it. I find it hard to believe that someone truly loves every single aspect of ANY game. I’m not going to pretend something is ok when it seems off.

The way the gem store works (money ? gems ?gold) really gives the impression of “pay-to-win”. Especially when you can only get a precursor through RNG or stupid amounts of gold.

=> pay to win, so much ! with this amount of money, the guy can buy a precursor or a legendary with exactly the same stats of a random exotic weapon !

don’t use expression you don’t understand. Pay To Win, rofl. Go Warhammer Online and you will saw a REAL pay-to-win.

I personally am still 100% loving Guild wars 2 even with my lvl 80 fully geared out and seeing updates like this really puts a smile on my face. I was just expecting some f/f retribution update but WOW guild banners, new guild missions, a new dungeon, custom arena’s, spectator mode and more WvW abilities. Anet is doing quite a fantastic job at keeping me into guild wars 2!

I’m not so impressed about the PvE stuff tho… It’s more or less: one new guild jumping puzzle (15 minutes of gameplay), bunch of new markers on the ground and temporary dungeon that lasts about 45 minutes. So it’s about an hour of gameplay there… One afternoon and I’m done.

But the sPvP gets really good stuff. I could finally check that out.

Okay, can someone who’s played guild missions past bounties tell me if they really need massive amounts of people to complete?
I’m getting more and more annoyed that all guild content is locked behind guild bounties which DO require more people than we have in our small guild.
Every month there’s an update to content we’re never likely to see thanks to guild bounties being impossible for us to complete.

I thought complaining was how things got fixed. I had several complaints about Guild Wars 1, just as I have several complaints about Guild Wars 2.

I dunno, i guess i was one of those “if they enjoy the game, they’re probably playing it and not on the internet complaining about it” types during GW1. I never really felt inclined or that i had the power to really change much. Even though i was huge into PvP, i never really felt like things were imbalanced because the effect of player skill and experience usually decided the outcome rather than culling, imbalanced classes, etc. Also, GW1 had a trinity-like system which had a lot more depth to it than GW2, so player skill seemed more apparent as each role relied on the last to be viable in a team composition. You don’t get that same type of efficacy here in my opinion. I liked what GW1 had to offer, but come to think of it i wasn’t always comparing it to what its’ predecessor did better.

I suspect they don’t.

The bounty can be done quite easily with around 10 people (one group per target on tier 1).

Trek can probably be done with less if you use Dulfy to find the points.

Rush will require more than bounty I would say, since they are quite long and require 15 completions (you can complete it several times with the same character, but you only have 30 minutes) and often requires some people escorting the runners.

The rest our guild haven’t unlocked yet so can’t say how many they would require.

Sadly as is, actually making things work would cause a whole lot of new options and builds to open up, which would require them to rework/balance a lot of classes and trait mechanics that are suddenly popularized.

It’s pretty bad when they leave certain things broken for so long that once they’re fixed, they’re treated as a ‘buff’ to that particular class. coughengineerclasshistorycough

Well, i’ve been playing GW2 since launch (made a 1month pause just when lost shores event popped up so fml), I really like this game, and I plan to stick with it for quite a few years to come but this update made me yawn just like all the other updates the last few months. The only update i actually liked and enjoyed is the ’’preview’’ option for the TP.

-New WvW abilities and banners, I could not care less about them. I like skilled based pvp which means 1v1 or 5v5 and stuff like that. 100vs100 just means 10fps and nobody matters (long story short, i really dissliked the idea of wvw even when it was announced a few years before release, so no new patches related to it exite me). The only WvW update that would make me interested in it is something to the lines of ’’we’re going to revamp wvw mechanichs so that they heavily favor 1man roaming instead of zergs’’.

-Spvp to me feels WAY too dissconnected from the rest of the game and i disslike it because of it. Spectator mode might increase my interest in it, but I doubt it.

-New story dungeon and that’s it… I’m probably gonna do it once, that’s gonna be like 40 minutes of content and then i’ll never go back. Also, as a cof farmer I’m not all that enthusiastic about MOAR FLAME LEGION! The gray and black themes with lava, fire and smoke stopped being interesting to me after the 300th cof run.

TL DR; when the update comes, i’ll do the story dungeon and then back to cof and orichalcum farming for a sunrise and bolt.

In so many ways, I have zero confidence in Anet, the new patch sounds something like ANOTHER temporary grind fest. FOTM = ascended grindfest, SAB = weapon skins grind fest, dungeon remakes = … wait isn’t it content that’s being recycled with sponge fest bosses and 30-1hour long worth of boredom with poor loot outcome? If you want extra PVP content, we need more weapon types and weapon skills for the races, and I assure you everyone will come back to try coming up with new combos. Not lame, shallow stuff like Flame and Frost story that comes and go within a day.

The thing about currency is somewhat wrong. If you can buy a specific item with two different types of currency, we have a dual currency system (i.e, imagine spending karma points on TP to buy things). Right now it’s more like you have only one type of currency to buy one kind of thing (Cof currency buys cof stuff).

Not really. Entitlement is when you expect something you didn’t pay for. HawkMeister feels he should be getting something for his money that he isn’t getting. So it’s not an entitlement mentality.

Well, the whiners in this thread have verified my observations that our species isn’t as intelligent as I once thought it was. Why banners over capes? Well, clipping issues come to mind. Working them in with backpack covers also comes to mind. But no… let’s ignore logic and whine about trivialities instead of looking at the positives.

Did anyone even bother looking at what was mentioned of the dungeon fights? Let’s see… “Each encounter within the dungeon itself is designed to teach players mechanics they haven’t encountered before, from jumping over ground attacks to using pushbacks to knock enemies out of protective auras, culminating in a final battle designed to test players’ proficiency with everything they’ve learnt.” Well look at that… it looks like they’re trying to shake up boss fights and introduce new mechanics to make the fights more interesting and actually require more player skills. Yeah, we should complain about that. How about other things… guild siege equipment? Excuse me while I salivate. Custom arenas? Oh yeah. Sure, there’s a cost to get one, reserving space on their servers for it. But you know what… if you make one people like odds are you won’t pay another dime as other players and/or guilds contribute time to it. This prevents people making thousands and thousands of arenas that sit there unused, wasting space and resources. More guild event stuff, always nice.

If I had anything to be concerned with it would be about how long the new dungeon will be around for. WvW eats most of my time after all. But you know what… all this new stuff and my wallet didn’t even notice.

I think ANet should release complaint forms in the gem store. 100 gems and you’re guaranteed your complaint will be read by a designated group or person. Maybe the number of complaints about certain issues could receive some sort of prioritization on the queue of “things to do” if they don’t go against the core and concept of the game.

Yeah, I can’t say I’m impressed. PvP stuff I don’t play, 1 Dungeon.. that’s kinda neat.. more expensive Gem stuff.

It will be a neat story dungeon for about a month, then it will be erased. I’ve seen far too much time and talent virtually wasted on what amounts to very decent but temporary content. Honestly, I could have done without ALL of the holiday events and F&F just to have balanced professions and a working solution to the asymmetrical reward system.

The thing that gets me is that Anet said F&F is “An expansion’s worth of content” When there is no way to construe that as true. & they look like their gonna keep going with that over-promise, under-deliver: “culminates in a boss battle that will go down in Guild Wars 2 history”. Guys… STOP. It looks horrible when you say stuff like “expansions worth of content”. It’s not even close.

100% agree. By definition and by historical precedence in the gaming industry for the last two decades at least, an “expansion” is almost a sequel to the game itself. This means new professions, maps, permanent dungeons, across-the-board refinements and fixes, etc.

Agh.. & these currencies.. whaaaat?? Gold, Karma,Guild Merits, Laurels, AC,CM,CoF,.. agh WTFFFF.. Wasn’t the plan to have Karma be the thing that let us play what we want to buy what we want? I dunno.. I’m so inundated with currencies & mats it feels draining to dare having a goal.

They new currencies are additional time gates to keep us plugged in and give us a sense of progression. Reading between the lines, these new currencies imply that there really may not be a whole lot of real content planned for this game for a very long time.

So here’s my little conspiracy theory:

Your conspiracy theory shows you never played gw1, as is evident. I’ll prove that.

1) True or not, a great number of people feel that the game they got is not the one that was advertised/expected from a Guild Wars title. (mediocre sPvP, no GvG, gear grind, etc.)

At launch GW1 was a very shallow game pve-wise. Obby grind was the only form of endgame and entirely cash based. In comparison, making a legendary is a walk in the park.

2) True or not, they have a reputation now for not listening to the community if they don’t have to. Which is a shame considering how interactive they were with Guild Wars.

Loots scaling, diminishing returns, 3 heroes, aoe fleeing … come to mind. Those were measures in Guild Wars 1, over 6 years ago. It took years for loot scaling and aoe fleeing to be adressed, only to be replaced by nigh unfarmable hard mode.

Arena.net does not like gold grinding. Never did. That’s been pretty constant over the years.

3) True or not, they have a reputation for being slow with bug-fixing and heavy-handed with exploit-fixing. The general feeling, from the people I game with, is that every time something is fixed, something else gets broken.

Just go to the GW1 wiki and checked all the bugs, anomalies and broken missions that still exist after years. If you played GW1, you knew that.

4) With F&F, they’re getting a reputation for not delivering on promises of “an expansions’ worth of new content”. Rather, it’s a big yawn-fest, and a very, very, long, boring, drawn-out leadup to whatever conclusion we’re about to see.

The original batch of Winds of Change were boring copies of each other, and hyped for months. The marriage updates for Gwen and Keiran were rolled out very slowly and had barely any content. F&F trumps that.

5) The way the gem store works (money -> gems ->gold) really gives the impression of “pay-to-win”. Especially when you can only get a precursor through RNG or stupid amounts of gold.

Legendaries aren’t better than exotics, money can’t make you win. As such, pay-to-win does not exist in this game.

What does this mean? Whether they’re doing it all right or not, whether they have the best intentions or not, ANet is getting a mediocre to bad reputation. It’s amplified by how much of a fall it is from their good reputation from Guild Wars.

They’re doing what they’ve always done. You obviously didn’t play during prophecies, or any GW1 at all for that matter or you wouldn’t be saying these things.

People like me aren’t really willing to be as patient with ArenaNet as they were right after launch. Everything they do is going to be picked apart. And let’s face it, the only glowing moment they’ve had since launch is the SAB. It had it’s small group of detractors, but mostly people really like it. Which, in a healthy game, is how all new content releases should be.

With “all content releases”, do you imply that arena.net should produce as much content on a monthly basis as WoW does every 6 months? Don’t think that’s realistic. However adding up 6 GW2 updates goes far beyond whatever I ever got from WoW (given I don’t raid).

TL:DR – ANet has (deservedly or not) developed a negative reputation in many aspects, leading people to be less patient and understanding with their content releases.

First content update in GW1 was after 6 months. In that timeframe we got 5 in GW2, each considerably larged than sorrow’s furnace. Now lets be realistic and not compare apples to oranges. The reputation of the team hasn’t changed because they didn’t change their way. You just weren’t there in prophecies. You don’t know what you’re comparing against.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto

To me it doesnt sound very impressive. This is probably because of my taste and which part of the game interests me. However, some things just seem very poor for a “major content update”. Earlier they said March+April would be the big patches in the F&F storyline. So onto my thinking.

Story dungeon: Is this the same type of hoax dungeon we had last patch? The ones that seemed cool when reading about them, but doing them got boring and pointless after the first go. “Daily account bound reward” turned out to be a tiny karma buff, at a time when karma is barely worth getting. And we were allowed to get 1 per day, wow.

WvW skills: More skill can sure be nice, but after the lag flopp after last patch my inspiration to PvP in this game declined. I have pretty much only farmed gold the last month and finaly tweaked the gear on my toons, lookwise and statwise. I also did a few name changes, but now that thats done, my need for gold is minimal, so farming gold another month isnt really an option.

sPvP+Spectator: Nothing that interests me one little bit, if I want smallscale PvP that is more open and epic, I’ll just play BF3 Rush games, it gives me a better PvP fix than sPvP could ever do. Plus it has real objectives and large maps.

Then there are the things that doesnt seem to get patched.

-Fractal content
-New Dungeons
-New 80 zones
-PvP ascended gear
-Crafted ascended gear
-Dungeon ascended gear
-More fractal ascended gear
-Removal of time gated progression
-Reinstatement of an alt friendly reward system (it used to be there)
-Achievment reward system. Laruels did seem to be part of this but now there is talk of yet another currency. And this all was supposed to go live during F&F. So far nothing, except pointless leaderboards.

and so on…

I love the game, but I’m wondering more and more each day why I log on. Then it hits me, dailies and guild missions. Thatd about all I do, log on do daily, log off and play something else, then log on if there are guild missions to get my comms. The time gated content and alt unfriendlyness that comes with it is what is driving me away slowly, more and more for every patch.

We should at least wait to see the dungeon before judging the dungeon. I have a feeling it won’t be like the two new instances.

Still doesnt really matter. It will probably be time gated anyways, 1 run/day/account or some other alt-unfriendly mindset. And another currency to buy the next ascended item in 2 months or something.

So instead of capes they give us those banners……..What……The…..kitten

Am not sure what the problem is there just like samurai banners so yes more intresting then capes

Lol, those aren’t Samurai banners, it’s just a teared up piece of cloth that’s connecting to sticks coming out of your armor. Samurai banners have a much larger piece of cloth attached to a wooden pole.

I feel like many are just celebrating the fact that there’s new content, and not really looking at the context of it. Personally, I wish they would release less content at a time, so it could have a larger impact on the game. Instead of trying to please everyone at the same time.

Yeah, too bad the new dungeon is more temporary bullkitten. I don’t see why it can’t jus stick around in the game like the other dungeons do. Who cares if the story is “finished?” Doesn’t mean we can’t keep going back to Arah.

i just gotta say that Guild kittenin Wars 2 is one of the best games i have ever BOUGHT (i do not buy all of them)

i rarely spend money on my games. and probably Guild Wars 2 was my biggest buy in my gaming history including MMOs, console games, pc games, card board games, sports etc etc (I am that cheap).

and so far I am very VERY VERY satisfied with the outputs they give, its really woth all my money’s worth.

Kudos to Anet

This game is crap. Is enough that you can’t play dungeons because it have many bugs, but also you get disconnect when you want to get into dungeon. Better they fix hundreds bug, than realize more bug in next patch. I can say again, I can’t play this crap until they don’t fix main bugs.

I almost never get disconnected in a dungeon. And all games have hundreds of bugs…at least all MMOs do.
