because ANet has been #1 in in-game April Fools jokes since 2005. Good kittening kitten. Make sure you guys go and take a look at some giants. Maybe see if you can get some screenies of some dragons.

Yes they are

I’ve not seen bosses though but since they are more environmental based creatures its possible they are not effected

but you never know

It doesn’t. Motion sickness is caused by a clash between what your eyes are seeing and what your inner ears are feeling with regards to motion. A bobblehead won’t cause this clash because your eyes see one spot of motion yet the overall is consistent with what your inner ears are feeling.

Basically it appears to be a made up story trying to get this little bit of fun taken away because he’s decided he doesn’t like it.

Last time I got motion sick from a game (it does happen) was a Medal of Honor type shooter maybe ten, fifteen years ago. I had to take Dramamine for a couple days until my brain learned to recognize the input properly and adapted. I’ve been fine since.

Are you saying that motion sickness can only occur in 1st person perspective? Wouldn’t it be possible that our brains are able to interpret motion in 3rd person in a similar fashion, although perhaps not as strongly? In that case, wobbling of your characters head would be a perfect example of a disagreement between the visual system and the vestibular system that you mention.

Either way, I’m pretty sure that people who are susceptible to motion sickness can become dizzy by simply looking at things that are spinning or wobbling (I know I can), even if it would not technically count as motion sickness.

For those people the answer is a simple one. Don’t play til the 2nd. It is only one day, you have 364 other days to play as you normally do.

Not saying you do not get motion sickness, after all, I do not know what you experience.

But I can tell you that if the motion sickness is that bad, you can either Log off for the day… Not Playing for a way will not kill you.

It just sounds to me as if a very vocal minority, want something taken away, simply because they dislike it. My attitude is, you get Normal play the rest of the year… you can spare one day for those of us, that like this sort of thing.

The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.

have you actually gone ingame or are you still just on character screen?
The reason I ask is because mine is back.

I logged out again and while they look normal in the character screen once you get in game they pop on again

I have actually gone into the game, everything was normal size.

Why are people so quick to complain? It’s not even for the whole day it seems, judging from the comments about it being gone when relogging. Glad I’m not a dev, having to take skritt like this when I want to do is give the players a bit of fun. If your little RP fantasy wkittentered for a moment there, just take it for what it is and restart the game.

Personally I find it both fabulous and hilarious, especially love that all the walking NPCs have that awkward “up-the-sky” look! Haha I think I had a minor stroke because of all the laughing, that kind of odd humor is right up my alley! Thanks Anet, you just made my day a fair bit brighter and happier!

oh sooo funny. really. it’s just annoying and you cannot trn it off. i really hate this ugly thing.
it would have been ok, if it was for a few minutes.
but like this i think my joy today has been destroyed. i really hate it.

Lighten up, it’s only one day. if it is that bad that your day was destroyed, just log off til the 2nd.

I simply don’t understand why people are getting so worked up over this.

Take a deep breath; it’s a joke in the spirit of April Fools and will come to pass shortly.

It’s a cool joke – I give them that, but a prank lasting one entire day sucks. Imagine your friend doing a prank on you continuously for the entire day. It transforms from funny to annoying, unless you’re a masochist or something.

It’s only a day.

This is a video game, not real life.

Well, some people have limited time to play so this argument really only affects people with so much time on their hands.

Again, it’s a cool prank. Only what’s cooler is that if they had an on-off switch for it.

Please don’t try to be a White Knight on ANet’s defense, I’m not saying they did a poor job – just saying it’s nice to have some options.

Flytrap? A white knight for Anet?

@op

this works for me, run the game with the command line “-nosound”

You shortcut should look something like “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -nosound"

here’s more info on how to do this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments

Let me personally thank you for this.

I can also affirm that this worked. Right now I’m seeing if it is a permanent disable, IE after you remove -nosound. If not, I’m going to try nomusic.

UPDATE: It would seem only -nosound disables the bobbleheads, and only when you have it in the shortcut.

I was at the TTS teq run just as this went live.

Yes his head is huge.

Yes it is hilarious.

People were laughing so hard I am surprised we actually completed the run.

(if you have a mini teq you can take it out and see a preview)

You are lucky, my toons still look like bobbleheads. Where is the off switch?

Don’t consider myself lucky, I want the bobblehead, I want to be a part of the fun. Anyways, sounds like just exiting the game completely, then starting the game again makes the bobblehead go away. Wish the same was true to turn it on though.

sounds like we’re both stuck where we don’t want to be. You want to turn it on and are unable to do so. I want to turn it off and am unable to do so.

btw, re-starting the game doesn’t turn it off for me just like it doesn’t turn it on for you.

seems like it really should have an on/off option from the devs.
