I found some dead bots lying on the ground last night. Almost resed them just to kite a couple risen in to put them back down and damage them. Decided it wasn’t worth my effort. Reported them and ran off.

Guys, and gals, read my post here

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Loot-Drop-Rate-Bug/979694

Support say that reporting the issue using the ingame bug reporting system it is the best way to get the issue escalated. But we need everyone to report it, not just one or 2 of us. So play in your favorate loot areas, and when you think you got enough to show its not working properly report it. This system give alot more deatail than we can supply on the forums.

I am hoping support will help bring it to the attention of the developers as well as I stated that we had already been using the forums, as they suggested, with no response, and was concerned the right people were not seeing it.

I don’t really get this. How do I know it’s not working right? I didn’t keep data on what I was getting before the patch so I have no baseline to compare to. I just know I get rares/exotics rarely and from dumb sources, that champs and legendaries rarely leave a lootable corpse and that large event chests like temples/dragons give me all blues. I can’t really say that isn’t intentional or it’s a bug so what am I supposedly reporting?

All I know is that when I was leveling and gearing my main back in late september/early october I had no issue with buying/farming (mats and drops) him top notch gear (yes, rares and exotics for a lvl 60 toon) with a bit of budgeting.

Now with my alt who’s level 80 since a couple of weeks, I’m still carrying blues and greens that don’t really fit my desired spec. It’s tough out there lol.
Thankfully I am quite comfortable grinding dungeon tokens so I think that by late december I’ll be geared in rather nicely looking exotics.

But speaking from my own experience of playing GW2 the prices have kind of gone a bit insane recently.
It just feels to me that doing what I was doing back then to gear up isn’t suitable anymore

I am not a power trader, and I am not a farmer.
I am just a gamer. I do dungeons, I do the dragon bosses, I do events, I do WvWvW, i pretty much partake in most aspects of the game has to offer and intends me to play.

I am not throwing QQ trantrum, I am simply stating that what made sense a month back doesn’t make sense anymore.

I was gonna level another alt but I think I will hold onto that until I can start making some coin again.

Would be nice to see some sort of balance back in the game for the 80% majority of players who just want to play the game and grab some gear along the way.

If you are not aware of the reduction of loot quantity and quality, then don’t report, simple. This is for people who, like myself, are completely aware of it. You can use the same reporting system to report when champs dont drop anything since patch notes say they are guarenteed drops. The same reporting system can be used for magic find not actually improving drops but rather lowering drops and giving less “equipment” in favour of more fines/bags/salvagables.

There are any number of loot related issues you could report, but again if you are not aware of any, then dont report.

So here it is going on three weeks for this thread and the guy handling bots (which if you all recall was one of the reasons they started nerfing drops in the first place when they actually DID respond to us about this issue) is telling everyone what we already know, that the bots are on the run.

Well that’s great and all but what about the players? Do you have the players on the run as well? Because from my vantage point you definitely are doing a fine job of running us all off by not providing but 1 single play style in a game that’s supposed to be all about choices.

Way to go. Way to go with the communication with the players about this issue as well. We’ve been waiting for about a month now for someone anyone to come into this thread and tell us something anything about why and what’s going on with this.

I too doubt that the dec 14th update will make a difference.

Wanted to add this little tidbit. This guy is one of the guys who showed me the game via his videos and has been a great reviewer imo of all things GW2 since before and after launch. This video has some interesting views on DR.

HERE He talks alot about DR in the video he has another one about the trouble with DR on karma/loot and how it affects the community as a whole in his list somewhere but I couldn’t find it tonight.

It’s not bug guys it’s feature to stop bots!

It’s actually even more fun watching new people that join this game on chat wondering why is whole world contested (mostly orr) and they can’t find players except in lower end areas while everyone is in fractals not even for ascended gear but just for loot.

Well, bots don’t eat/sleep/spend their time better spent on something else and don’t get tired of farming. We players do. DR should simply go. I don’t care if some 10k bots are making money, while the rest of the millions are royally screwed by DR and loot issues.

I know your post is a rather sarcastic one aimed at Anet, but if this were their intention they are handling it in a worse manner possible.

It’s amazing they are obviously trying to keep this feature even tho they just admitted by the guy in charge of it that DR isn’t needed that their system of reporting and pattern recognition is working just fine, so why is it still in the game again?

my opinion on bots is this >
make gathering nodes random that would get rid of 99% gathering bots

from my boting experience in other games it worked like you downloaded map with marked nod spawns and your characters automatically visited those

if they are randomly generated respawning every few hours(to get rid of some stuck nodes in walls or so) on different place that would get rid of these …

for mindless killing bots I see 2 problems
1) AI in this game is so dumb that is just asking for botting with ranger/bear or heavy class you do not need dodge 99% mobs even wow in newer expansions got better AI

2)grouping …
yes there are too many npcs but apart from each other they should be in groups ..

that would fix players complaining about too much mobs in one place so they could move more freely
combined with AI that actually do something that would fix a lot …

(yes I botted lot everyone who did not on that game was fool because you had no chance to farm because veins were global and on every node you could see at least 15 bots farming it every time)

It’s to make sure we don’t mess up the economy brah :p

Joke aside, I got not idea.
Maybe it is something that is needed to avoid farmers controlling the economy, and not just the bots…
Maybe it is to make sure people don’t get their legendaries as fast as some people did in the first 3 months (afterall they stipulated it was supposed to be a long term goal).
Maybe it is a crucial part of the loot tables codes and can’t be just removed that easily.
Maybe it is in place because bots are still present and therefore it’s still needed.

I could go on and so any of us could as well. Right now it sucks to make coin in open world PVE, that’s for sure.
I hope it gets remedied soon. I don’t mind being patient a bit longer. Ipersonally can handle doing dungeons more than I used to, etc. But it sure is annoying as I enjoyed open world farming too.

Nobody likes feeling boxed in their playstyle while playing an MMO. As I said, hopefully it gets fixed soon and we will all have more options to make some coin.
That would be lovely.

I also haven’t found more than 1 green item after hours of open world exploring and my motivation for playing this game is almost gone. I don’t say this to be mean because up to this point I was really enjoying the over 600 hours I had put into this game. The “sell junk” button seems to make me more money than anything else I find for my time spent playing these days.

I mainly do open world because I am not often able to block off a large section of time where I can focus on a dungeon(2 small kids). So open world really works well for me, but not so much lately. I stopped playing diablo 3 because it was horribly unrewarding and monotonous. I was really happy at first when gw2 seemed so much different than d3. But these days I’d swear anet hired jay wilson or something because this game is as unrewarding to me as any I have ever played in 30 years. At least d3 tried to trick me into to thinking I would get something good by dropping tons of worthless rares, but with gw2 it’s like I’m lucky if I get a porous bone or a chunk of crab meat. Hey everyone have you heard about the new gw2 game??? It’s got crab meat! I can see them running to the stores now.

I talked to support and they explained to me how support doesn’t write the code and that I should express my feedback in the forums and thats the best way to be heard. And I told them I don’t want the form letter response which they replied

“Again I get that it can be less than ideal to simply post feedback on the forums without getting much in the way of a response from the developers. Unfortunately this is really the only way they take any kind of feedback right now, so it’s pretty much the best and only option for getting your feedback heard. That said not every suggestion will be implemented, it’s really up to them on what they choose to do and not do. However if if they do decide to change something it often can take quite a long time to implement as they have a lot of other stuff to work on ahead of anything new coming in.”

Between that response and the complete silence here from anet I don’t hold out much hope for this game. I think that if you can’t offer monthly content without altering the normal content of the game than you should stop offering monthly content. But if all this is intentional on your part than I feel truly sorry for you.

Man up and give the people who are responsible for you still having jobs a response.

Yeah, I think it is worth a try.

I was just thinking that with the patch they restarted the servers (or whatever, the dynamic events, which did not work before, are now all active and working.. at least these which I came by..).. could that alone have affected an improvement or did they change something additionally?
(That would be only interesting if other people notice improved loot ^^)

Vets should be minimum greens, champs should be minimum rares it’s really that simple if they want it to match the time people spend and the difficulty to the reward.

Call me optimistic, but it’s hard to believe this is not a bug. Seems to me the lack of loot goes against what they tried to achieve with the last patch (i.e. lvl 80 drops in 55+ zones and more/better loot from champions and veterans). My guess is that something went a bit wrong. They’re not saying because they don’t know what/how to fix it, or they know people will rage so they tread carefully.

That being said, I’m sure they have very good and detailed statistics over what stuff drops, where and when. They also know a lot of players are motivated by loot. If there’s no change in the next patch I guess my optimism was misplaced.

I know this is a little tin-foil hat but, I think the loot nerf is intentional and consistent with the philosophy of the game designers.

The longer you play, the slower the rewards. Early on rewards come very quickly. Weapon skills unlock extremely fast, leveling is slower but still fast.

Once you finishing leveling the rewards become a trickle. For example, obtaining rare dyes, getting exotics, ascended gear it more uncommon.

I feel like once you hit level 80 they are just milking you until you finally realize that the game is more disappointments and less win.

There are other factors, like increasing expectations which may factor into things. For example, at level 40 a green drop is great! At level 80 it’s a disappointment.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

Yeah i noticed that, it was apparantly considered flaming and disrespectful (that’s what the final closing thread post states). I don’t quite see how it was either of those things as it was a statement about a bug (the champion loot), an issue (the loot rate in the rest of the game) and a request for a red response (the link to here) – it certainly isn’t what i would call a rude post either (blunt perhaps, but not rude).

Anyways, the patch tomorrow will be a deciding factor for me, i haven’t really played at all in the past 2 weeks due to this issue and am close to giving up out right.

Unfortunately after all this time has passed, I just see this as an atempt to shuffle us off in another direction, trying to divert our attention toward another fishing expedition hoping against hope we will eventually get a bite (official response).

1) We opened this thread here in Anet’s official forum and have gotten not one reply.

2) We opened a thread in the Bug forum – it got moved to Technical issues. I mean, really?

3) We asked in the AMA – it was “dodged” until the last minute – No follow up was forthcoming but at least we knew THEY knew it was an issue, perceived or not.

4) We continued to post feedback in this thread, begging for some acknowledgement.

5) Another thread was opened in the Bug report forum.

And now.. now.. we are supposed to take it to ingame support? If the steps above didn’t get it the “right people”, especially the AMA, there is a serous disconnect going on somewhere.

I have high hopes the patch which brings us the Winter Event will have hidden in it somewhere, the fix for this loot nerf.

Perhaps one day, soon, a raven will deliver the news. A raven wearing the Anet sigil will say, “caaw! caaaaaaww!” Then the nearest person will grab the note attached to the raven and read what it says.

We figured out what was going on, fixed the issue, and currently the original intent included in past patch notes is now in-game “The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.”

;) Caaaaaww? <img src=“http://llwproductions.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/raven-close-up-right-at-camera-lens.jpg?w=208&h=208”/>
Soon afterward, there was much Champion slaying and a feast followed with much rejoicing.

You guys might get a few loot samples going and compare them to a sample after tomorrow. Hopefully whatever special drops and nodes appear won’t mess with the existing loot probabilities. Not that I wouldn’t put it past ANet to blame new drops for a decrease in regular ones. It could be possible, but it wasn’t the case during Halloween nor in GW1.

1. Write down your level and the MF on your gear
2. Clear your loot bags
3. Stay within a certain number of Areas(i.e. Abbey Ruins,Devast District,Windrock Maze – Plains of Ashford)
4. Spend up to 1 hour killing enemies in this area. If you fill your inventory faster, make a screenshot
5. Post SS here with information from step 1.

Personal experiences are all fine and carry some form of credibility, but they cannot replace raw data.

My main attraction to GW2 was the fact that I could choose my way of playing, which is world map, solo, at my own time. If that way of playing provides the proper proportion of valuable vs junk drops, I’m happy. The moment I feel I’m being forced to run dungeons, kill champions and farm-grind in order to get a fair share of reward, I’m out of here like a bad smell. Right now I’m getting a feeling of the latter, which I hope is wrong. I’m not in the game to make money, but to have fun MY way. So botters and high prices on TP annoy me far less than being forced to play a certain way in order to get rewards.

Exactly my point about farming as well.

You see they can’t use the excuse of bots because as they themselves have already admitted our reporting bots and their methods of detection are working so DR isn’t needed.

They can’t use the excuse of the economy anymore because as we all know from using the TP you can’t corner the market in this design, so farmers who are farming for gold for their own purposes will end up with a whole buncha mats they can’t sell for anything other then a tiny bit of copper in the end if they try.

They can’t use the excuse of making the game more enjoyable because by forcing people into the dungeons for the only few rewards people get in the first place they are essentially breaking their manifesto entirely by forcing people to play in only a single way.

So, what they should just go ahead and do? Restore the loot, remove DR because it’s obvious these systems aren’t there for bots, they aren’t there for the economy, and they aren’t there to help players have more fun, quite the opposite.

I have high hopes the patch which brings us the Winter Event will have hidden in it somewhere, the fix for this loot nerf.

NOT A CHANCE!!!! So much money flowing so freely around Christmas, they’re counting on a ton of traffic to the gem store as people buy their way to good gear/crafting. If and that’s a big IF they plan to revert this, it won’t be until after the Christmas money-spending season. I’d say mid-January at the earliest, to give people time to spend cash-gifts and gift cards.

Call me a tin-foil hat kind of guy, but I’m telling you the whole thing was planned in order to make people desperate and spend money in the gem store over Christmas. Is it going to have that effect? Probably not for many reading these threads, but it’ll probably be a huge windfall for ArenaNet/NCSoft as a whole.

I’ll continue to play the game since I’m already in a good position with gear/gold, but I’ll not be building alts as it’s now too expensive and too much grinding for good gear. I am seriously considering jumping to ESO when it comes out next year. I’m hearing it will most likely be subscription based, which I don’t really care for, but at least with a subscription some of these dirty financial tricks and market tampering go away.

ArenaNet could fix so many problems if they returned drop rates to normal and/or took away the open market trading post to control cost. I’m fine with the drop rates the way they are if it’s a closed marketplace with the cost of items set reasonably and static (c’mon, last time I looked it was 510 gold for Dawn!!!!! That is NOT reasonable). This also fixes crafting and helps with gold bots by keeping the cost of crafting materials low and not worth botting. As it stands, the TP is essentially broken almost dead to me anyway since I RARELY get anything I can actually sell on there and hardly ever buy anything as I have all the gear I need and it’s too expensive to level an alt now. Everything else, including whites and junk, I sell to in-game vendors to help cover the cost of way point travel and repairs.

As i stated in the WvW forum briefly:
I think the reason for not getting a replie on that subject is that they are working on it….. plus it is getting closer to christmas (so suddenly it comes every year…. at the same time ;-) ).

At least i hope it is. Well i don´t have time to check the droprate in deepth, so if i play a bit and i don´t get something i go to WvW for an hour or just log off. I still keep searching the forums to see if it gets better, cause i took a break for a month and logged back into GW2 a couple of weeks ago, cause Arenanet told i could and have no disadvantages. Actually i thought about spending some money on that gemstore for some nice things (bankspace and transmutationstones), but with this situation i rather wait til the game goes back to where it once was => fun from the first minute i logged in.

So yes…… wallets closed til this issue is fixed.

even in Diablo3 you can have decent drops now after patch 1.05….but here Anet is doing the opposite…

Dang this is exactly what I’ve been saying since all this began.

Please please please look at D3 for a model of how to do it wrong – the D3 team finally figured it out and started to loosen their purse strings. But it’s far too late.

D3 has fun gameplay (as does GW2 imo) but even with the most fun gameplay, it’s ultimately time spent in a state of constant frustration. GW2 has gone down that exact same path – and it’s sad to see them doing it so shortly after the D3 fiasco.

I love GW2 and hope they fix this before everyone leaves.

Not a single answer.
They don’t care. Want gold? Go buy gems.

I will not spend real money on gems to convert them into gold. -.-
I would love to spend it on gems to buy things like costumes (how they worked in gw and not the town clothes!), certain miniatures (e.g. a quaggan, not random miniatures), a super special weapon or armor skin (which are unlocked after buy and can be used as many times as I want), ..
Right now there is not one thing which I would buy and I will never and under no circumstances buy gems for real money to buy me appropriate weapons or armors ingame.

If I cannot progress with my characters anymore without spending gems (= for real money, but also counts for gems made from ingame gold) for it, then it’s time to leave. I don’t want to feel forced to buy gems (especially not for things a player should receive for free in a sufficient and fair quantity ingame during playing the game).

It’s so simple.

I don’t know why they don’t want to have my real money.. I would LOVE to spend it.. but right now there is nothing appealing.
Quite the opposite I feel they are pushing me away.

I will be “buying” gems this wintersday, but unfortunatly I do not have the gold to do so. Whether deliberate or not this bug is forcing players to use real $$$ for gems for Wintersday simply because we have been unable to make the coin in game that we used to be able to make.

I am rushing around trying to harvest high end nodes in the hope I can get some coin to support some gem purchases.

I meant real money (and edited my post to clarify), but yeah.. you are right..
For me it doesn’t make any sense to convert ingame gold into gems either because it’s so expensive and would just eat up my whole ingame gold (I am around 6 gold I think..).. -.-
So I have to stay with the free goodies, they’ll give us. =)
