As a work around, you could create a chat tab to switch to when you want silence, e.g. your storage guild’s chat if you have one. Whatever drove you away from the other chat tab may still be there when you go back, but it’s better than nothing.

That’s what I do.

I always wished there was a clear chat command. It’s annoying when a goldseller bot floods my screen and even though I block him I still have to wait a long time for the text to go away depending on how talkative people are.

i dont really have reason to scroll back through chat log unless i was afk so i just sneakily break something i was going to say down to a few lines of entering and it clears the log quick smart
