I see that’s a hot button issue with you Xehanort. Keep asking for a display option that’s only applicable to Rangers in PvE to be made a priority fix.

So far so good. I recently doubled my money by investing in an item that boosts move speed on siege golems(WvW tourney skyrocketed the price).

Wait…..WHAT!? I thought with the NPE patch they also made it to where boosts no longer affect golems. Or was that only for common boons like Swiftness?

I seem to remember reading in one of the patch notes that they removed a lot of effects on golems that you could get from using skills/traits before entering a golem.

I think the big one is Speed/Traveller runes.

And Candy Corn, though that’s less reliable.

Oh, I see. He’s saying that he made money on stuff like Speed/Traveler runes. That actually makes a lot of sense, because if they made it to where boons are removed when you enter golems then it means that Speed/Traveler runes would be one of the few methods left of increasing golem speed. Before, we would just exit the golem and stack a ton of Swiftness, then hop back in the golem. But, one of the patch notes said that you can’t do that anymore.

The problem is that in a game that’s supposed to be an action-adventure MMO with unique and dynamic combat, beautiful visuals and a potential for very rich lore the best rewards are obtained by playing the trading post.

This is why I recently started learning how to play the market. We will see how it goes. If it isn’t fun I will most likely quit the game, because no matter how good I get at the game I won’t be 1/10th as rewarded as the guys who master trading.

So far so good. I recently doubled my money by investing in an item that boosts move speed on siege golems(WvW tourney skyrocketed the price). That would have taken me many hours to do otherwise. With TP I did it with an hour of work and a week of waiting.

Exactly – it’s not even active gameplay.
Buy now – wait for spike – sell – rinse and repeat. I’m not saying it doesn’t take knowledge and ability to know what to get and when to sell and whatnot but honestly it’s mostly waiting.

I’ve been doing it for about a year now and while I don’t invest huge sums I usually make more money than I would by actually playing the game. Which is a problem.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

I tried sending Chris a message but his inbox was full again, so I’ll post it here:

I messaged you before about playing together and have held off leveling my new character, just in case (I tend to level up fast). If you’re stressed out and don’t want to play anymore it’s ok. It’s been good of you to try and talk with people in the thread even though it doesnt seem to be your job and I know a lot of people are upset.
Take care,
eye

Hi All,

Thanks for all your kind messages, I should be up and about tomorrow.

I have cleaned down my inbox now. So i will get your messages. Eye, Guhracie etc how about Thursday?

I have asked for someone to post an update on the Story Steps and we should be deploying more fixes to NPE soon thus allowing us to have a more meaningful discussion.

Thanks for all the updates and thoughts. And FYI I have been reading this forum and the CDI when i haven’t been asleep.

The Exotic Collection is only the exotics out of the Champ Bags making named exotics more expensive and therefore providing less means of forging a precursor because their cost now is prohibitive to do so.

Wait, what? That doesn’t make sense. In fact, since a lot of those named exotics are a sideeffect of precursor forging, the cost of making a precursor (after calculating gains from selling any more costly forge byproducts) should go down.

The named exotics like “Crystal Guardian”, “Bonetti’s Rapier”(The Champion Bag named exotics) etc. have gone up in price significantly for the most part because they are a part of the new collection system. Those used to be the cheapest named exotics because they were the most readily available. It’s not the case anymore.

So? How exactly this causes less means to forge precursors?

Actions, not words.

Thanks so much for letting us know, Chris. I imagine they got a massive workload and all that judging from the hotfixes I have downloaded each day since the Feature Patch came out, but I’d hope you could help in convincing them to make fixing the Personal Story issues top priority, at least in relation to the missing and bugged quests.

Hi Chris,

Some of us have been facing stuttering/spiking FPS issues since the Sept patch. Wonder if you could look into it and let us know if it’s something on your side that can be fixed? Or if it’s a graphics card compatibility thing? Unchecking Hi-Res Textures doesnt resolve it.

We are definately looking into these. I am very happy they are posted in the tech support section, makes it a lot easier to round up the info. Thanks!

Dear Mike O Brien and Developers

I played Guild Wars prophecies, Cantha, Elona and Eye of the North, each one was pre-order and I played for years afterwards in wait of Guild Wars 2. Over the course of development I have gotten to know a few of you. The moment CE was announced to release I ordered two copies. over the course I have multiple characters (level) It’s been close to a year since I last played GW2, I stopped for a number of reasons in the direction you took the game in which I wont go in to here I’ve posted a few times and so in a positive way and constructive criticism. Yet I see nothing has changed, or you have gone the reverse of your word when I check in from time to time. If you are really listening,

Bring me back to Guild Wars 2

So I’ve got a massive headache and nothing to do before eating, let’s give it a try, hoping that helps Chris a bit once he’s not sick anymore (and the other devs that have to answer some questions). I went back to page 28 ; I wanted to make his work a bit easier once he’s able to answer the questions, but while I was at it I went a bit further in case somebody joins the thread/want to see if his question has been answered and wants to check the recent answers. However my main goal was to ease up his work a bit, listing all the questions here would be kind of a pain after 32 pages*50 posts. :^)

I do not pretend it’s perfect, as I said I’m kind of sick and the massive walls of text that represents 5 pages (200 – 250 posts) are really hard to read for me already ; I tried to go through the multiple discussions going on at the same time between players and all, but it is very possible that I forgot some questions, put some that have already been answered once (in which case I think Chris will remember what he already answered anyways), put questions that can’t be answered for now or things like that. Really just trying to help so he doesn’t have to scroll through thousands of words for each post and don’t overlook some, but it is all up to my memory and my ability to scroll through the said pages and multiple quotes discussions, so I can only hope it’s not too faulty ; apologizes if I did it wrong. You can tell me on the forum or preferably by PM if I missed something, or if a link is wrong, etc., I’ll try to correct is as soon as possible, and even sooner if you can link me the right thing. Again, I can only hope I didn’t do too bad.

Chris

So did anything come of this discussion?

See, Chris… PVT Shout build is probably near the top of LEAST impacted Warrior builds, as a result of this adrenaline nerf.

Running around spamming Shouts and swinging a hammer, as you hurl yourself into Zergs, is still fine after this adrenal change. And as a PVT shout heal warrior, I’d tend to suspect you’re zerging it up quite a bit in WvW, because… well honestly, that’s all they’re really good at. PvP it’s a fairly meh build, Guards/Eles/Engies bunker better.

You’ll never “miss” with your earthshakers in a crowd of 15 people. And Soldier runes wipe condi’s fast as anything. You can even trait to gain almost a bar of adrenaline per shout.

So, try a roaming build or competitive PvP build.

See how the adrenaline loss-on-miss feels versus an experienced player who can reliably avoid your bursts 75% of the time.

See how that 75% miss ruins your condi-clearing from Cleansing Ire, leaving you up to your ears in condis. You’ll quickly understand why warriors feel LOCKED into Longbows combustive shot.

@Chris Whiteside

I suggest the dev team hold a weekly survey, done using a modified "rate your experience" window. (you know, the one used in Beta, and on your test server, yes I’ve been on your test server)

Rather than a simple "rate 1,2,3,4,5", have it modified to be a multiple choice selection.

For example, weekly, it would give players this popup (which should be re-openable if the player did not select an answer) that would provide 5 "hot topics" from the community, to gauge the views of in-game players by gathering a "vote".

Since we always get this speil about how the forums only represent a small fraction of the playerbase, then it only seems logical to expand the information gathering process to include the majority of the playerbase (people playing the game) rather than focusing purely on the internal/private testers.

It would look something similar to:

-------------------------------------------------------
PvP Survey
Vote for your top priority:

- New Maps (_)
- New Gamemodes (_)
- PvP Balance Focus (_)
- PvP rewards (_)
- Ladders and Seasons (_)
- Other (please provide information in
the CDI located in the sPvP forums)

Chris any comment on the group/dungeon stealing issue?

I have spoken to a friend at work and he is investigating. I expect I will have something to report on monday.

Chris

First, hope you’re feeling better.

I don’t mean to be a pest but any info on this? While it hasn’t happened to me personally it has happened to friends and it’s just sapped any desire to run dungeons for me, and well… that was the main thing I did in this game.

The WvW season is at least filling in as something for me to do though.

I do think there should be sort of a list of questions asked and their answer on those kind of threads, though, I mean like a first post edited when a new question pop, and maybe put the list on the website later on for those who don’t go in the forums so they can still be informed – that way there would be much less identical questions and less answers to give, and more players feel like ANet is listening, although it would be boring and perhaps hard to do at times.

Chap might reply to this. I play a warrior (PVT Shout Heal) and to be honest and quite happy with the changes. He knows more than I about balance however so i will bring it up with him tomorrow morning.

Hey what’s up man.

Before this change, it was the case that the Warrior Dogged/Cleansing specs were able to pretty much just spam their burst skills and remove condies. We had a lot of players (on forums and in person, talking to them at Gamescom) talking about how they wanted to have more play/skill to this, and they also wanted (if they were players who played AGAINST this type of Warrior) to have more counter-play.

This change means that Warriors need to be thinking ahead to their condition cleanse, as they will no longer be able to get them without risk. It also means that missing a burst skill can hurt the Warrior more than it did before, so even if you’re not running Cleansing, an opponent making you miss your burst skill can be a really big, really impactful moment in a fight.

This change means that some Warrior specs will need to shift/adjust, and you’ll need to do more “setting up” of your burst skill (to give it a higher chance to land) if you’re relying on Cleansing for condie clears.

This change means that some Warrior specs will need to shift/adjust, and you’ll need to do more “setting up” of your burst skill (to give it a higher chance to land) if you’re relying on Cleansing for condie clears.

But, this change does not promote build diversity(stronger build still strong, weaker builds got even weaker) and does not actually help warrior in any way other then handicap them even more for nothing (warrior does not have high skill ceiling, bringing up their skill floor does not make sense)

Before the patch, most of the burst skills are already easily avoidable, which means we already have difficult time landing our burst skills (earth shaker, evis, arcing, killshot, etc are all easily avoidable),
that’s why we WERE and still ARE forced to use longbow.
What happened if we missed our burst skill (other then longbow)?
we do not proc cleansing ire = less condition removal and less damage and skill goes on full cd
we already need to set up our bursts in order to do stuff. no offense, but those people who said warrior are spamming bursts and no punishments and keep cleansing conditions, are either noobs who can not dodge, or they meant longbow and hammer (huge aoe makes them spammable to proc cleansing ire, changing adrenaline is not the solution.), but again, longbow f1 is still spammable post patch, it only makes other burst skills even worse.(like the guy who complaint about killshot got even more useless because of this patch)

There are also adrenaline related traits and skills like healing sure and signet of fury that are affected by this change.

Also the new greatsword rush, it just never hits, ever.
personally, i really love the greatsword, i think it has potential to be tpvp viable, i would suggest giving it a boon removal ability, reduce the cast time of hundred blade and the f1 buff is nearly not enough imo.

And for axe 5, i personally believe that, no matter how much damage you give it, it will be useless, unless it’s insta kill like damage. it needs utility, like reflect.

Any chance the WvW forums can get some ANet love? We’re having issues with a few players creating a toxic environment in WvW, and there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it besides beg on the forums for some divine intervention. This has been an issue since at least the Spring Tournament, yet there’s been no communication between ANet and WvW players regarding this behavior.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Anet-s-stance-on-siege-trolls/first

Lack of communication and inaction on this issue have only made it worse, now players flaunt this behavior and even get paid to do it, knowing that ANet won’t do anything about it. Tarnished Coast has at least one player who did this all during the Spring WvW Tourney, was reported in droves, and yet here they are in the Fall Tourney, doing it all over again on the same account, because nobody did anything. It’s extremely discouraging.

I sincerely hope somebody sees this and we can get some sort of official stance / dialogue going. A lot of players take WvW seriously, and this is becoming a significant problem.

Thanks.

I know some are concerned about whether ArenaNet is communicating with you and listening and responding to your feedback. As you saw with yesterday’s announcement, we do. All of us at ArenaNet play the game with you, chat with you and read your forum posts, and work on the things that we think will most delight and entertain you.

We’ve set a clear policy in the past year: we don’t talk speculatively about future development. We don’t want to string you along. Creating fun is an uncertain business: sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t; sometimes we go back to the drawing board over and over before we get something right. If we make optimistic promises and then can’t deliver on them, everyone suffers. So when we attend a trade show or give an interview, we’re there to talk about what we’re getting ready to ship, not to speculate on what we might ship someday.

Don’t read that as meaning that we don’t want to talk with you about the longer-term roadmap. The intention of the CDI threads is to talk with you about the roadmap. We want to talk design philosophy with you and hear how you want to see the game evolve. When those discussions trigger development, we’ll work internally until we have something we’re proud of before we’ll announce it.

A lot of the questions I’ve seen posted this week are as simple as this: does ArenaNet have an agenda to never do something? That’s almost never the case, and if it is the case you deserve to know and we’ll make sure we get more clear. In general the simple truth is this: when we’re not currently working on something, it’s because we’re working on something else instead that we think is more important for the game and community.

Our developers post on these forums on a voluntary basis, and in addition to developers, we have a community team who can clarify and be the bridge between players and developers. They’re ready to engage you on these topics. And I know it’s hard for the community team to engage players across all the forums and sites where these questions are being discussed, so I’m going to support the team in consolidating and focusing as necessary, so that we can be clear to the community where you can go to get a response.

See you in-game,
Mike O’Brien

Personally I think the policy you’ve set in place is having repercussions that are hurting your game immensely. Mainly that when you shelter us from what you’re developing until its nearly released, you are sheltering yourselves from the criticism/assistance we could give you on its development.

What happens right now is that a big system/features is revamped/released and its not exactly pleasing to the community(like the new trait system in the april feature pack of the NPE in the september feature pack) and then its too late to make the big changes you need to the system because its nearing release for it. Then what follows is the community being stuck with the poorly designed system for months and months and months until its fixed again. Thats a very poor way to go about things imo.

Glad your feeling better there Chris, here is a topic for a glance over while your resting up.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Exotic-drop-rate-problem

This is one of my main problems with the game like everyone else that has commented in that thread and the never ending threads on the subject. being a gw1 vet and knowing what the system was back then for loot and rewards it would be nice to finally have a decent discussion about this part of the game and why the team decided to go on the uncle Scrooge wagon, lol, and if there is a chance that it is time to do something more positive , if possible, for the players and update the RNG, Loot Tables , drop rates or what ever it is that gives so much heart ache to everyone.

it would even fix the issue with the pre cursor hunt/crafting , if the drops were normal like back in GW1 days.

Anyways rest up and hope you recover quick

cheers Phabby

I must agree on some points with Simon here. I don’t think adrenaline changes were for the best and quite honestly a lot of burst skills always looked strange to me because of how ridiculously easy they were to dodge without necessarily offering much rewards – rifle, I’m talking about you. The old adrenaline decay was good; forgive my frankness it’s completely ridiculous to lose all the adrenaline when out of combat when there are some skills that rely on having them ready from the start, when you have so many traits and skills that scale on full adrenaline and when you litterally can’t stack enough adrenaline before the fight ends (aka every single player of open world PvE can’t use his class mechanic while not fighting vets)

Overall I don’t think there should “unusable tier” weapons in mode, unless there are more weapons to compensate or you could swap weapon skills between a few to adapt as it has already been suggested quite some times I believe. I also believe the game has a potential for a huge dynamic and fun perspective and should remain that way.

Which is why I tend to dislike skills like hundred blades. Greatsword has mobility and a bunch of damage and that’s always fun to play, but because most of it is bound on the #2 that makes it a bit too black and white. Hundred blades keep you in place (which I don’t think is fun, personnally) and thus make you vulnerable, because it takes a lot of time to get to the final strike. Now every strike before it is nerfed, which is pretty big. What does that mean ? That mean that, since final strike by the amount of damage that was taken from the other blades, it is nerfed as a whole and that increase the fact you’re playing with four skills when the other players react without even really making it more “skilled”; because the reward is not big enough you might as well not use it, and that’s not really normal when you have five skills. I mean that’s not really fun, in those cases. Greatsword is the most mobile weapon; I think the #2 should be in the continuity of this rather than contradict it by being the least mobile spell of the warrior. Which is why I would much rather prefer a spell that works best with it, without the 2hours long channelling; if keeping hundred blade is not an option, then what I think could be interesting would be to put a chain on the spell. 1/2/3/4 are swing attacks with short cooldown, between 1/2 and 1 seconds cast time, essentially dodging/missing two breaks the chain, then 5 is the rest of hundred blade swings, with the channelling being halved of course, including a powerful final strike. The numbers would need tweaking, obviously, maybe 4 takes a bit too long, maybe the damages would need a buff if the skills takes too much time to be set up, I don’t know and that also mainly depends on how much time you give for the chain to break, I’m just throwing out ideas. The answer to that would be easy with weapon skills you could swap, for exemple, too. Once more, the point behind that is making Greatsword a more viable PvP/WvW weapon, not one that worked in the very early stages of the game where you could lockdown players and oneshot them because they didn’t have stability or couldn’t break the stun from Bull’s Charge, and also make it funnier overall, more fitting to the dynamic playstyle.

2/2 dam character limit

The idea was to have a spell that could snipe off target at long range, yes ? Then I’d say making the cast much quicker in exchange for a much different way of calculating damages (scaling a lot with distance so there little to no point using it on a close target but make it more interesting for longshot perhaps), but I’m afraid the adrenaline decay might be killing this idea. So maybe the reverse, maybe a quickcast spell that works best while you’re close range but with much less range, whether it’s flat damages or bleed (and that works best with the way 99% of the rifles look too). Either way I don’t see the point of using it as of now, which is why I think it needs some tweaking.

I think it’s rather weird for those spells to exist. Burst skills should be promoted, you should never go “yeah, so I won’t use that one because I need to heal more overtime and increase my dmg by X% and my crit chances by X% and… wait what’s the point of ever using it, it’s not quite as rewarding.”. Instead if it would scale the other way around, it’d make things more interesting. You can’t avoid stacking adrenaline, it will come back, 100% sure, as long as you hit people. So you can start the fight with all the buffs from traits and all, slowly as the fight goes on they kind of go weaker, and you have to chose between using your burst skill without a full adrenaline stack to get them boons back to full force or wait until it’s fully stacked. Then finally you release it, bam, burst skill, boons come back, there we go, the players now want to use their spells rather than press 1 all the way.

I think overall weapons could have more synergy between themselves, some kits looks kind of weird, sometimes.

I also agree on axe 5 : useful for tagging mobs in PvE, not for much otherwise. Reflect is a good idea, otherwise perhaps making it stack vulnerability?

Those are just ideas, of course… but I honestly think you could consider reworking some spells a bit. I’m fairly sure the community will help you a lot with that if you ask them.

Off topic, but I’m suddenly remembering last year’s Halloween and the rewards and… please tell me we won’t need bazillions of festive items to craft the recipe then just as much to craft it, or something like that, this time, right ? I mean there were even people doing the maths and showing it was impossible to collect it in less than several years, unless you buy off the TP, last year, I… didn’t really understand how it could come to that…

Dear Santa,

What about the decay when leaving combat?
Burst skills cant be used anymore in pve because you always start empty.. mobs are dead before having some adrenaline.

Cant we give it a +10 or +5 sec before its starts to decay?

My thought is that this change dramatically affects much more than cleansing ire, with adrenaline being the core mechanism unique to warriors (as documented & elaborated on other threads in the warrior forum). Also, counters already existed (i.e. evade, blind, block, etc.), whereas counters to such counters are harder to come by (if the warrior is not using a bow). Cleansing ire activation via burst skill also could not be exactly “spammed” in that burst skills already had a cooldown (with loss of adrenaline from misses & from ooc state in effect adding another sort of cooldown on top of this), although weapons swapping previously could of course allow back to back attempts at (different) burst skills.

Overall, if Cleansing ire specifically was targeted by this change (as opposed to adrenaline for other uses, burst skill related and otherwise), a more surgical and precise intervention, such as adding a “cooldown” to cleansing ire that only activates on “miss” of a burst skill) could be implemented instead of an across the board hit to adrenaline. As-is, my perception in playing my warrior is that the changes to adrenaline from multiple angles (& especially the new formula for drop in adrenaline out of combat) hit too hard, hit too many traits & utilities besides the burst skills themselves & apart from cleansing ire).

Personally, I’ve found GW2’s vision of the warrior as the most compelling class in the game from the initial hype over a year before release, through the beta weekends and through today, but the changes to adrenaline have hit to hard and too broadly such that the fun factor of the class is overwhelmed by its new limitations. Removal of cleansing ire entirely would be preferable to the overall adrenaline hits IMO; the warrior was much more fun to play before cleansing ire was added, than it is after the gutting of adrenaline systems. For me at least.

Thanks for consideration of this issue. Opinions may differ, and though many may have agitated for changes to cleansing ire, many also (judging from warrior forums, as well as input from my in-game circle) have had their game play dimished by the adrenaline changes (again, well beyond and independent of the cleansing ire trait itself).

Chap might reply to this. I play a warrior (PVT Shout Heal) and to be honest and quite happy with the changes. He knows more than I about balance however so i will bring it up with him tomorrow morning.

Sir, what about the point that conditions are out of control. ANET felt that direct damage was too strong but the exact opposite can be said about condition damage. Condition damage has been buffed, through runes, traits, and skills. More conditions have been added like torment.

Never mind that condi users can just run around and kite and drop bombs and this requires the least amount of skill and they have to give up the least amout of stats like Rabid can be super tanky and still deal alot of damage via conditions. While as direct damage users have basically 5 stats they need to max and not 3.

Shouldn’t anet be more worried about that if we want to justify nerfing warriors because like you said its too easy?

How about the fact that by making these changes to adrenaline anet nefed warriors in PVE so badly that they have now gone to only being needed for banners. And they were already far from Top DPS being out dpsed by guardians even.

I dont have a problem with the changes but many of us feel that ANET is trying to hold warriors to a standard higher than other classes while there profession mechanic is not higher than any other class.

I think before ANET decides to make such changes they should worry more about all of the other cheese in the game most of which is 100 times worst than this.

warrior and we’re the best class” Eugene

@ JonathanSharp

Saying: you’ll need to do more “setting up” of your burst skill (to give it a higher chance to land) if you’re relying on Cleansing for condie clears.

The problem with setting up a burst is that those skills suffer just like Rush does..(bulls/bolas)
So now i have to use a CC before landing a different CC to land a burst what could be a CC

And also CI is a must have for warrios in pvp.. the class is all build around CI at this point..
