Well a lot of time has passed since GW1. They could just redesign it and leave a few ruins that the GW1 players could recognize, like they did with Lion’s Arch and several other places. LA they subsequently demolished completely, but the other ruins from GW1 era are still there.

At this point I think it might be prudent for anet to (brace for impact) not look back. I think it might be time for (evasive maneuvers) forging ahead into new, previously unknown lands where the past won’t (abandon ship) shanghai the future, so to speak.

Modern Tyria (the region) is vastly different from the Tyria we knew in the past. Climate, terrain, flora and fauna, the people. Does anyone think it won’t be the same with Cantha and Elona? Many of the things that made those places so desirable might not survive modernization. Other things, perhaps even things contrary to why so many of us want to revisit those lands, will be introduced. Now, it probably won’t matter to many among us if things are vastly different, but it just might to just as many who don’t want these old lands brought back in name only, but as recognizable places with recognizable features.

New lands will be just that: new! And thus, free as the kittenens from previously glorified great expectations. (Sorry, Charlie, your revered name is kittened.)

Anyway, please take note of the ‘I think’ and ‘might be’ portions of this post which are used to convey the post’s opinionary aspects, and carry on!

If you review this data they not only call for the expansion but say it will come in the 3rd quarter of 2015 which is key piece of information in all of this, why? Well if you go back to the trailer video and stop it at the frame where Marjory is looking at the worm stuck in jade there are inscriptions on the crates in new krytan which translates to “Oct31 live content” which to me fits exactly into the predictions with the stock company.
Now I know a lot of people argue this company has called for an expansion as far back as 2013 but I think that was more along the lines of them saying that they would be building an expansion. Also don’t kid yourself, if this company is making these claims and are way out of whack their reputation takes a massive hit and they wouldn’t risk that.
Don’t for a minute think that NCSoft stock success doesn’t take precedence over Anets want of secrecy because that’s not realistic, and this article is all about boosting stock value.

well tyria in gw2 was vastly different then tyria in gw1… bigger towns, bigger cities, it has jumping (deserves to be said), it has a vertical element to it etc.. I dont think i ever heard a single person saying any of those things made said zones worst. Sure if they do any of those regions they’ll have differences but the core of what resonates with people is likely the architecture, the feel, the lore and that core will remain the same.

Pretty sure October 31st would be 4th Quarter. Oct/Nov/Dec

It’s also likely fiscal year quarters, which would place 3rd somewhere around April-June, which actually makes more sense.

Some analysts have predictions as their job and therefore they usually based their speculation upon different indicators. ‘’none is going to call them out for not being right’’ is totally inaccurate because many will and these sources will lose credibility.

People invest money based upon simliar sources.
It is more than ‘’omg, I am a fanboi and I want an expansion’’ or the opposite.

Just watched this (was retweeted by GW2 twitter, though without the starting time)- http://youtu.be/GWftbufww3M?t=25m10s , and if they are correct, that the hall this panel is in is the biggest, then this must have some kind of really big announcement.
Or it could wind up being the next biggest disappointment.

It’s always possible that they took that stage because that was the only one open when they asked for a spot.

Please people, remember that it’s not ANet hyping it up this time. It’s the players. Go in with an open mind, but low expectations.

first , I seriously doubt that the only spot they could get that was available was at the main stage aka the place where most people are focusing on and everyone who is there would love to be on .

Secondly , if this is simply the announcement of S3 of living story which continues in the same fashion kitten or another feature pack ,why then is it not done via a YT video or an article as they have been doing now ?
Why do they feel the need to have the PRESIDENT OF ARENANET and Collin there to anounce it at PAX up on the Main stage for over 90 Minutes ?

Those are just stock analysts though. Its not unheard of for them to just make guesses when it comes to video games, especially when your dealing with a company that refuses to share information until the week before its release.

They also go on to base their revenue projections on the fact that the Guild Wars expansions sold almost as much as the original game, completely neglecting the fact that the two have completely different business models. The expansions were the primary ongoing source of revenue for Guild Wars. Microtransactions are the primary ongoing source of revenue for Guild Wars 2. That document is a prospectus put out by a brokerage firm. It is aimed at investors who have very little knowledge or interest in Guild Wars 2. Its goal is to retain investors, not to accurately inform. They didn’t “call for” an expansion, as you put it. They “expected” one. Given the flawed reasoning that accompanied their other expectations surrounding the expansion, I have very little confidence that they have any actual inside knowledge. Their thinking is just as wishful as yours and mine.

We’ll see come January 24th, I still think a company in Korea with interests and their finger on the pulse of local business has more than just random speculation to go on, at least more than we do being so far removed from that economy.

Depends if they have someone on the inside feeding them info or not. It’s not something you can count on. If they don’t, they have the same info we do.

As the thread where I first published the “OCT31ST LIVE CONTENTS” discovery, feel free to specify a legit date to which that text is referring to that has not already happened in the game. (No they would not have a “hint” about the halloween festival in this ep8 trailer as someone mentioned above, as that would “hint” to already discovered content, even if that text was forgotten left-over from the echoes of the past release which would be a sad). I think you understand that my point is that even if this is not the possible expansion date, it is a date in the future that anet thinks has such a significant value that it is hinted in the last trailer of the season.
Also the translation of KRALKATORRIK on another box doesn’t really lower the odds of large content related to the topic.

I am pretty sure they will announce that Ellen Kiel is getting kicked off the Council.

She had it a long time coming…

After a long campaign during Season 3 in the summer, Evon Gnashblade will take over and lead Tyria and the game in general to new heights in Q3 and 4 of this year.

Not that the Glint’s Lair in Guild Wars 2 is anything similar to Glint’s Lair in original Guild Wars.

The only similarity is that it was just made out of crystals, nothing more, nothing less. There is no worldmark or anything that existed in previous game that we would see in Guild Wars 2’s Glint’s Lair.

I don’t think the wardrobe turned out to be nothing. It changed the game for a lot of people. Maybe not you, but I’m convinced you want to play a different game then is on offer. Which is okay.

But it doesn’t make what has been added bad. And the “hype” for most of their new stuff is a blog post on their forums.
