I love it… One of my favorite games ever. :-)
Very well made and, as a MMORPG player, I gotta say it’s the best there is… I also love WoW, but if I had to choose one of the two I would pick GW2 :-P

But maybe it’s not the game for you… If so many people are having fun and you find it boring, maybe the problem is not in the game… There are many other games that you can enjoy.

We need new maps, new races and better world vs world

If your on the forums, do you not realize the new WvW features coming up? Seasons? Anet is doing an amazing job at bringing us NEW content every 2 weeks, plus still making major overhauls to already existing content.

Nobody cares about those. The match-ups are so unbalanced that the worlds with most numbers win so nobody really cares about it. There isn’t a real reason why you should care about a ppt score either.

Exactly. Much better than if he had said what about the game is boring, or some thoughts he had for improvement.

People don’t because fanbois will jump all over them.

The game for new players does suck, and after playing a year I can’t wait till WS comes out, even if it sucks at least it’s a new suck hehe

we need roles. yes, roles. and content to fit the roles.

roles like: soaker, buffer, debuffer, CC, ranged DPS, melee DPS, healer etc.
and before the anti trinity choir wakes up and start singing;
we were actually promised that every class can play what he want, not that all classes can play only DPS.

There are actual roles to play in World vs World whereas your holy trinity is completely useless:

Commander on Teamspeak 3/ Ventrilo/Raidcall: for coordination, and can be harsh at times… and I hope your commander isn’t https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tX6-gZw2tog LMAOOOOO
Mesmer: for invisibility and ambush
Guardian: Stability and boon provider
Hammer Warrior: Stunner
Thief: perfect dolyak slayer & good for scouting
Scouts: checking enemy fortifications
Guard tower: semi-afk and sitting on an arrow cart.
Trebuchet operator: the most boring role, sitting there for several hours trebbing a tower or a keep’s wall.
Havoc squads: 5-person squad capturing camps, killing Dolyaks, and could sometimes be very sneaky and take a tier 3 keep.
Dolyak escorts: not very rewarding but really good way of ensuring supplies make it to towers and keeps.

Fine fine… if some of you insist. Hopefully the developers listen to this very closely… So there is currently nothing on the market right now that has my interest. I find myself right now doing more hobbies outside of computers. I see myself going to the movies, reading books, exercising, hanging out with family etc… more often.

So that’s my current status of what I am doing. I just finished practicing for a marathon here in Miami sponsored by Publix and could not attend because I twisted my knee, bummer I know. Anyways I decided to log on to the game and try out my elementalist.

Surprised I saw the new “wallet,” feature and I received an experience scroll for a new character and a new mini pet since it was my birthday (thanks developers!!!) and was pretty happy about it.

Since the past year I have been logging in and out merely just running around skipping events and killing whatever I aggroed. So I, talking to myself, “well lets do the main story line quest.” At 55 the quest recommends 62… bummer. Anyways I tried it… death after death… I noticed I could pass it but what kept me from going back was the repair bills. A complete pain in the butt having to go repair. I really do not understand the concept or why developers insist on this barbaric tradition. It makes the experience less than favorable. Funny part my female elementalist runs back in her undies… pretty hilarious.

What ticks me off more is, you have to pay for teleporting? I don’t get it? Why? I know developers have to make money obviously. I have to say this game has made me literally hate f2p games. There is always something amiss regardless of how free they state the game is.

Anyways… let me continue my blah blah blah… So I went into pvp after being bored of running around doing the same thing over and over…. “New event near by,” Should really be, “Same event near by just different enemies.” Pvp well WvW, how the hell can you just find it enjoyable to just run around for minutes and not find anyone to kill or face off with? Sucks for you if your region has nothing seized… put on those Adidas shoes

So after trying that out I went to divinity and tried some crafting… OMG… really? A jute turns into brutes to flutes to crutes to putes…. I was over it the minute I realized I had to either buy the mats or farm them which if I farmed them I have to buy this and that so I can turn useless items into feasible materials. Farming in this game is not easy because you need something that turns into materials to drop.

In all honesty I could ask friends for mats etc… and level quickly through crafting and main storyline quest but I really feel the game is beautiful and with all that said I really do enjoy the main story line quests. But that is (as) far (as) I go (as) saying this game is fun… its not.

The saddest part is… this game is no better than the fiasco that Diablo 3 had. The difference was this game masked its boredom with eyecandy but in the end… it turned out to be the same as Diablo 3. Developers let us veterans down…

Oh and if I could, I would ask for my money back on the deluxe edition because it was stated as limited!!! So that ticks me off as well… now everyone can get it. A year ago it was offered for a limited time and now its just there. Well developers do get desperate… again that’s all I have to say.

Now please before you respond a few things to take into consideration. I don’t care who you are, where you’re from or how much you try to come up with a brilliant dissection of my post to try to full fill your egoism, I just won’t respond. So save yourself some time and post something morbidly funny or entertaining, that would probably… MAYBE… get my attention if you so seek it. Other than that I am out of biscuits to give out.

I really enjoy this game, I have so far 6 80’s. I have been playing since release. Given I am a casual player 32 yr old. The detail in graphics are stunning, the game play is better then anything I have tried before.

I know it is not perfect, but no monthly fees and we get all content.

Just my 2 cents.

This game is a bit too casual, most of the boss are easy with big enough number, you can get to lv 80 and get strong gears fairly easily, which is great for casual players but unable to satisfy hard core player. So far there are very few hard core content ( legendary weapons, super high level Frac, some dungeons like Arah, CoE ). So if you are the sort of player that spend 7-8 hours per day, u will naturally get bored rather quickly. But if you are the sort of player that play on weekend or 2-3 hours per day, you will never get bored of it because new casual content never stop coming out.

Those are skills and activities, not roles. That’s like saying in WoW a shaman is the “bloodlust provider” regardless of whether they are healing or DPSing. And if you still think you’re right, just consider how awful it is that your class roles are just 1 or 2 skills and the rest is completely irrelevant.

I don’t play very much anymore. When I do, it’s to go on sPvP on my thief and troll kill with zerker backstab build. I think the biggest factor in why I’m bored is because my achievements aren’t reflected on all my characters. I got world completion a few months ago. This is something that for me, personally, was very hard to do and was a very big achievement for myself due to lag, all solo experience, and really just immersing myself in my character’s progression. I even paid gems to transfer servers because WvW didn’t have colour rotation system in yet so I could get WvW POI and Vistas.

Then I made an alt and had a (deserving) shock that I started at level 1, had to repeat everything I did, and essentially grind my way to level 80 before I got to the good stuff. Dailies were always a grind, idk how people do them in 10 minutes, maybe I am just not as good as them as a player. Also when I used to play 4+ hours a day, dailies were like an extra bonus and it was nice to get. When I played 1-2 hours a day, I had to go out of my way to get crafting achievement, laurel vendor, etc. It is not hard but it is not fun either.

I am bored mostly because I am tired of getting that gold star back on my alts. I think the gold star means a lot as an achievement and should be toggle-able for all your characters since you put in the time and effort on one. Just like how some ppl use transmutation stone for legendaries.

You’re forgetting when a person invests into a game, they want to see that their time isn’t ultimately wasted, most of us are simply waiting for anet to make a good update that starts slowly saving the game. It’s an unrealistic dream, but the game is only a year old, WoW got its good turning point after 2 years. They just need to realize what is and what isn’t working.

By reinforcement I hope that you’re talking about people being rewarded with loot for a certain type of behavior, because if the reward is enjoyment (which is precisely why I play this game among many others and am studying games design) then I’m sorry but anyone that has gaming as their hobby is stuck “in a skinner box”. Why? Because variety is a good thing, all people in the world can not share the same opinion and the same taste. You don’t like it. Fair enough. Some of us do. Hmm. I still can’t dodge in other MMOs. I still don’t have to raid non stop to have the highest gear. I am still not excluded from content just because I don’t have the said highest end gear.
Like I said, it’s fair enough if you don’t like it. You don’t have to be this bitter about it running around calling it the worst game ever. It’s obviously profitable enough for them to expand. Yeah Tera is my fall back to MMO. I have a few characters there and I enjoy different aspects of GW2 and different aspects of Tera. For example I like their crossair ability targetting (because it’s more skillful than auto target and button mash), I prefer dodging in GW2 because it’s easier, I love Tera’s BAMs and think that GW2 would benefit from Veterans and Champions having different abilities to regular mobs (now veterans and champions just hit harder, but there’s nothing unique to them), however I love GW2s downscaling and no trinity (you can beat dungeons in Tera without a tank and a healer, but it seems that people will always seek the easy way out if there’s one presented, therefore convincing people to just go full damage and be skilled at it is quite hard).
All and all I like how both of these games are different from each other and different from other games on the market. One can hate one or the other, I don’t blame people for having a different taste, but I do believe that variety is good.

ESO has dodging, TERA does, TSW does as well.

Raiding might be something, but you’re basically zerging champs to grab mats to get the current highest gear for hours at a time.
Running Fractals a while back to get all the Ascended items.

How long do you presume PUGs will be until they start asking you to ping all your Ascended gear before getting into the newest dungeon group?
They already did it with Beserkers, and to a certain extent, still do.

I never said I hated the game. My taste are different from yours.

Discussed Tera in the post above. I do like it.

I don’t think that we will get anything above ascended. For one thing it’s taking forever for them to even release the full tier. And even then I’m completely avoiding the tier. Just too costly to be worth it. And how do you know what I’m doing? Here I logged in to chat with my guildies, run a few dungeons, have some fun leveling yet another alt.

How long do you presume PUGs will be until they start asking you to ping all your Ascended gear before getting into the newest dungeon group?

Does it matter? There are elitist groups that do these kind of things and then there are groups that don’t. Not even once did I run CoF with a berserker warrior, even though that has been the most asked thing for months now.

I never said I hated the game. My taste are different from yours.
Nice try though.

400 days.
24 hours are in a day.
400 × 24 = 9, 600 hours available in 400 days
This player has 3,000 hours logged
9, 6000 ÷ 3,000 = 3.2 hours

Dividing 3, 000 by 400 gives you 7.5 but doesn’t add in the fact that each day contains 24 hrs.

3.2 doesn’t add up to 3,000. I’m missing something in my proration, true, but I’m not sure what.

Keep this simple. He has played 3000 Hours. If the game has been out for 400 days, and in that 400 days he played 3000 hours, you just divide 400 days into 3000 hours to see how many hours per day he had average. 3000 hours/400 days = 7.5 hours played per day. You do not need to take 24 hours in a day into consideration, because all you are looking for is how many hours played in a day. Out of the 24 hours in a day he played 7.5 hours of that 24 hours.

To be honest, not only did I think I get my moneys worth out of Guild Wars 2, but for a game that’s a little over a year old, there’s A LOT to do for only paying $60 dollars.

Really my biggest criticism is the story telling, it’s not bad, but it doesn’t have the same quality Warcraft does with how serious and interesting their story archs get. Guild Wars 2 tries to be serious, but kinda strays into humor, which works at times, but is sometimes distracting.

Still, coming from me who thought this game was really underwhelming at launch, I’m very pleased to say that I am extremely satisfied with the game, I just had to invest a little bit more into learning how everything works. I tried to play it like WoW instead of Guild Wars 2. Instead of focusing on merely capping a character to get to the stuff, it instead tries to provide you with a fun experience to share with friends, it does exactly that.

It’s more about the journey rather than the destination.
