I’m glad to see that they fixed the guesting issue with this last update. Hopefully this is the start of improvements to the system.

Can you tell me HOW this fix is going to stop the greedy people from other realms guesting themselves to yours and blocking YOUR realm from getting things done … like the 3 dragons which we are now often unable to get to as we get kicked to “Overflow” in those zones.

I’ve jokingly considered griefing people looking for bounties by feeding them false sightings. I haven’t done so mind you, but I wouldn’t be surprised if others are actually doing this.

Please note that due to restrictions placed on my account, I am only allowed 1 post per hour.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned but I’m gonna throw this in, and perhaps this will help the medium to small guilds.
Better rewards for helping guilds with their bounties (not just a Dynamic event reward of a silver xp ect) maybe a mini chest with a green or yellow or crafting mats
Alliances (with alliance chat options) so each guild gets rewarded for the bounties.
the guild with the actual bounty gets full rewards (2 guild badges rep chest, etc) the allied guild gets half so 1 per.
I know one of the bigger concerns was or is getting to the art of War level 5 – but would this be a solution for smaller and medium sized guilds?

The current method of griefing seems to be standing in the area of the bounty without attacking.

Despite being VERY upset that my guild isn’t large enough to unlock guild missions yet, I’d probably have to kick anybody in my guild if I found out they were doing this.

Ok, looking at the latest patch notes from 2 hours ago tells me: they just don’t learn and/or listen.

How so? Looks like some of the fixes I know were an issue on a technical level were put in.

. . . crap now I have to find the Ori and Ancient Wood nodes again.

Yeah, but no changes related to the pressing problem.

Which pressing problem? You’re saying things with authority but they’re just statements like “looks like I was right” and when someone says “about what?” you respond with “the problem” rather than really explaining yourself.

Please, explain!

So, 39 pages of concerns and one patch later….still nothing from ANet regarding small guilds. For what it’s worth, one week since F&F launch and my smallish guild with a handful of actives is at the half way point of unlocking the bounty missions. We started with an already unlocked A0W5, btw. After reading through so much of this thread, and the guilds who have given their feedback on the missions, I am not so sure that even when we unlock the missions that my little guild and its collection of unofficial Alliance guilds are going to want to do these missions.

It sounds like the timer is a huge issue, numbers are the name of the game, and griefing is rampant. Maybe they should have made the missions their own instances like dungeons, instead of out there in the big wide world.

shrug, and a big ol meh… I’ve lost interest.

I’d say don’t give up hope yet.

I’ll paraphrase Robert Hrouda (dungeon designer) from his thread in the dungeon section where he said that just because they {Anet] aren’t responding doesn’t mean they aren’t reading. When they respond it tends to shift the direction of conversation, and they’d rather let us talk and just watch where it goes.

I have a little bit of faith that Anet will walk back some of the egregious nature of this beast in future updates. They took a massive shift in the style of their events from Lost Shores to Wintersday after all. I wouldn’t expect it in the March update since that has been in the pipeline already for awhile, but I would expect to see adjustments come around in April/May.

Just take stock of your own goals and see if they align with this game. I was fairly angry at yet another time gated piece of ascended gear being introduced. After I calmed down I decided that I was in GW2 for the long haul anyway – I played GW1 for 7.5 years after all – so a month here or there wasn’t going to matter by year 3. The same with guild missions, I don’t need them “RIGHT NAOW!”, because hopefully I’ll have plenty of time to fiddle around with them in years to come.

On that note: any small-medium sized guilds on Ehmry Bay recruiting? I’ve been in a guild of 1 since my friends quit in September, and it’s rather lonely…. :P

Robert Hrouda is The Dev. If more of the ANet staff was as open as he is this thread would not exist. It’s not about right now it’s about the rift in the community… Also this is not like ascended gear, this time by the time they roll out a tweak everyone who is in a big guild would have like 100 guild commendations and that is a huge heads up for members of larger guilds which just kills every average guild as it is.

I didn’t say everything was fixed. I was just saying that I’m glad that people from “foreign chapters” of guilds can now get rewards for participating in their guild’s mission (by guesting on their guild’s home server)! But missions are far far from fixed.

Well, by the time I managed to get to the guild event, the NPCs were dead. I managed to make the final NPC, who was bugged and essentially immune to damage, and we failed the missions and I received no chest.

I wouldn’t care so much, but I don’t like to miss out on gear like this. Guild Missions are organised content and I don’t like that. I like to log on guildwars and do what I want when I want; that’s why it trumped other games. Content like this is the opposite of fun and a step in the wrong direction, I think.

I know the laurels are there to compensate, and I’ll probably opt for that path for the earrings as I’m not in any rush to get them, but the aforementioned stuff is still pretty disappointing.

After organizing some guild bounties over the past couple weeks, here’s my main concern with them…

If people are having to pre-track the targets in order to reliably kill them, then it seems pointless to have them move at all. Either the pathing is intended to make you have to hunt them during the timer, rather than before it, or it just doesn’t really make much sense to have them moving at all. Tracking them ahead of time seems to be countering what looks like ArenaNet’s intention in having them move around in the first place.

Personally I think it would be a lot better if the targets didn’t ever move, and always spawned at the same location. Make the battles with them tougher to compensate if this would make guild bounties too easy. People generally don’t seem to enjoy tracking them down (at least in my guild they don’t), they just want to fight them. If most players in general feel similarly that it would be more fun for guild bounties to just focus on challenging fights rather than tracking, then please give people what they want on this one ArenaNet.

What if we let the cost to unlock guildmission’s stack with the amount of players in a guild so every member need to contribute?New guildmembers gonna have to pay there share of influence before they can join already unlocked mission’s. Also they can make it unexploiteble, members leaving guild and reinvite’s can be a problem with my example.

What do you think of it people?

Ok figured in the 39 pages im sure this has been discussed a few times lolz. Anyway my small guild is very happy with bounty hunters and unlocking the rest of the guild events. Has actually brought a few part time players back to playing more and really forced us to start doing events and dungeons together to bring in larger amounts of influence needed to unlock all the new content. Appreciate that Anet put a cap on merits so we all have a chance small or large at unlocking the events at the same pace.
Only issue we ran into is that we are only able to complete tier1 and even that w some difficulty which we love the challenge of it. Found out after completing it the 2nd time that we could only get 15 merits for the week from it. Not the 25 max unless we complete tier 3, which after trying tier 2 a few times gave up… Only thing we all wish would be changed is that merit max is still limited to 25 but smaller guilds who may only be able to complete tier 1 maybe 2 be able to do a couple times during the week to get the max 25 merits each week. So we can still stick at the same pace of unlocking guild events also. Other than that Guild Missions totally rock and am lookin forward to trying them all out!!

As a leader of a small guild of friends on Darkhaven, I find that the idea of the various guild missions is a fascinating idea that offers a lot of possibilities to it. Only change I’d have preferred is, as the warfare upgrades has been last on the list of things to do, is to have a choice on the type of guild missions for the initial one not requiring merits to unlock (ie. instead of bounties being the first one required, let the guild choose then expand from there).

One really easy change that would make them much more friendly to lower level guilds would be to allow us to do guild bounty level 1 multiple times a week and have each count toward the guild merit cap. That way, we could still meet the cap each week, even though it would take us longer than a large guild. As it is, we have to do at least one lvl 2 or 3, which are FAR less friendly to small guilds, or not cap merits for the week.

Other than that, my guild is loving the guild bounty missions.

Last night my guild attempted t2 bounty. We spread out and scouted every npc. We started the mission, all except the scouts with the 3 active bounties converged on the first one. No problem. As we converge on the second, our scout on #3 tells us another guild has showed up and is on him as well. We down our second target, and make haste to #3. At this point we have 8 mins left. Unfortunately, #3 is upscaled and/or the other guild is so “highly skilled” that we get there and the individual timer on #3 is down to 2 minutes and they have only done 10% damage to it. We burn #3 hard, get him down to about 25% but his timer runs out and he resets. We quickly fan out, find him again, and then our guild bounty timer runs out with him around 20%, we fail and finish him off anyhow. Probably just bad luck, probably not alot that can be done about it. Still, extremely frustrating. Having multiple guilds able to have the same bounty at the same time really did not make this a satisfying experience.

So my guild finally did one of these things and you know…it’s like 15 minutes of time with like an hour preparation. That’s it. And you can’t double in rewards, so you end up doing one a week.

I don’t really see a problem having a small guild like you always did, running with a big guild as a guild even for an hour or two, once a week, and that’s it, because that’s the rewards you can get.

The rest of the game is exactly the same.

As member of a reasonably large guild, we just tried to do a bounty with a group of 9.

We searched the entire map for the first of the bosses, and when we finally did find it, another guild beat it before we could get to it.

Guess I’d better use the cheap method of finding them first, then starting bounty like all the other losers out there…

My guild did there first guild missions yesterday. Here are our thoughts.

Spending all the time tracking down the npcs first before starting the mission, the guildies found tedious and boring, no fun whats so ever. Once we started the bounty, killing the bounties was great, we we killed the first person, we rushed to the next location, entire guild searching for the npc and we found and killed him with like 30 seconds left, it was great and everyone was so happy we just did it.

Suggestions: Give us 30 minutes per bounty to locate and kill each npc. So when you start a mission, the npc appears what ever map they are on and we all got to rush there find the person and kill it and then move on to the next one. Finding the npc before we start the mission no one enjoyed doing. if you had the npc only appear when the mission started, then everyone is looking for him at once rushing around frantic and enjoying the mission, instead finding an npc before we start and following him till everyone has found the npcs. So boring, repeat so boring and tedious.

And interface, guildwars 2 has never had the best interface, why isn’t there a descent interface for the missions. Would be great when we trigger a mission, everyone representing the guild, gets the timer and the npc we need to kill and what map they are on on the actual game screen not hidden away in the guilds tab that takes up your gamescreen so you can’t see stuff all on the map.

And finally, why do we have to earn all the merits to get the other guild mission, not everyone wants to do guild missions first, we want to try the puzzle missions and the others, but no we have to do guild missions first and at the moment and eventually and long time time from now we will be able to do the puzzles, etc, we have only done 3 bounty missions and feels like everyone one is quite sick of looking for the npcs before we start the missions.

And what a stupid place to put the first mission, at the end of art of war guild tree, i pity the small guilds who unlikely have any of that researched. Way to divide big guilds and small guild, the have nots and haves, arenanet very stupid decision . Sometimes i wonder if arenaet even think about what they are doing, they have this great idea but don’t think it through properly. Dividing a community is not smart in an mmo.

In the end great idea of the missions, very badly implemented and not very well thought out at all. Hopefully they are listening and reading this thread and they have ideas of how to fix the issues people are having with the missions.

Finally a nice little reply in the thread from an arenanet person would be nice and show that they respect our comments and are listening, even if they just say, “Thank you for your feedback, we are working on the guild missions to improve the experience of all players”. Any feedback would show that you do care about your player base, after all we are your customers, with out us you wouldn’t have an mmo.

Luckily for the small guild I’m in we all have multiple 85’s and maxed crafting and knew how to farm and run dungeons to make the gold to buy the influence. We are really lucky since they have nerfed all loot into the ground recently and you can’t farm mats anymore unless someone knows how to craft exotics with porous bones.

I see no way a new game player or small guild without players who have been playing since beta can afford the upgrades to run these.

I have zero interest in running them at this point and just waiting on a new game to come out so hopefully everyone in my guild can play something else.

It makes me really sad to see where this game is now because it’s so different from the game we started with.

Correction new players can buy gems to convert to gold for influence now. Interesting how that works now.

A few points on guild missions:

  • Small guilds (with members online, from 2 to 10 members) like mine have a problem of doing the tier guild bounty alone.
  • Some Guild Bounties are annoying to do with the current world event spawns and overflow servers. Since not everyone might get into the overflow server.
  • Tier 1 doesn’t seem repeatable for more merits. This is unfair to small guilds.
  • Really big guilds have no challenge for even the Tier 3 one.
  • While guilds could potentially work together, they can also potentially make it harder since the NPCs are shared.

Some solutions I think that have some potential

  • Tier 1 should be one boss with the current timer. And perhaps a lower reward
  • Make Guild Bounties scale in difficulty regarding the amount of people online and representing in a guild
  • UI needs to be massively improved for Guild Bounties. THe Guild Window itself
  • Show the location of the boss while halving the reward.
  • Ditch timers on bounties all together. Make a Bounty board within the guild window, Let people choose which bounty they want to run. Balance rewards.
  • Let Guild Leaders/officers control the bounty up while being in the right map, very much the same guild puzzles are set up already.
Explanation: Place a activation panel / bounty board in the map of Bounty X, Once activated by a guild officer, the boss X spawns in a random location in the map. (As opposed to tracking the boss before hand, sticking to him until someone activates the bounty and hope you get lucky.) The timer is dependant per target.

I run a guild of ~150 people and there are some serious problems with the way guild bounty missions are run. The only option to complete tier 2 and tier 3 within the 15 minute time limit is to scout out all 15 possible targets in advance, then have people keep them by waypoints to kill them with ease. I doubt this is the way you wanted these missions to be run. Even adding just 5 more minutes to the timer would help smaller guilds tremendously. It’s no fun trying to run around the map and search for them legitly, especially since most targets’ paths take them around the whole zone. Making it so you need 15 people just to find these NPCs really limits the smaller guilds and it simply isn’t fun.

I’m from a small guild (overal 10 members online in peak hours) of casual players (which means that most have a regular degree of skill inside the game) and I’ve gotta say for all of us: We’re struggling realy hard to make those Guild Bounties! We certanily do not want to join a big guild just to make them, we want to make them on our own, but even with 10 players (and usualy 2~3 players around) those Guild Bounties are hard to be done! I KNOW they’re supposed to be a challenge and stuff (indeed it was to make those 30k IP), but don’t you guys think it’s kind of out of scale? I see BIG guilds doing them with no problem, but I don’t see small ones doing it (like ours). After 3 attepts, long runs searching for the mob in the map (which is kind of cool in one hand, but kind of annoying in other hand) and lot’s of repairs made, guys are starting to get demoralized by it.

Bottom line: Please, take a look at the scaling of those events.

i think my issue with the philosophy of the guild bounty is that it doesn’t feel at all like what it’s supposed to be. the best path to success is to scout as many targets as you can BEFORE even clicking the bounty. this isn’t a bounty, this is minority report.

i would suggest a couple things, the first being a slightly longer timer, but with one or more of my other suggestions it might not be neccessary.

- give us three bounty targets but only have us kill two. as any one who’s done a few of these can imagine, some are hard to find (sotzz, anyone?). if you get one that’s tricky, you have a backup.
- add in some sort of “eyewitness” or “bounty contact” feature. so along the path of the NPC, there are other NPCs doing their business with an eyewitness icon. you have a brief chat with them and answer a few questions about the target you’re looking for (race, notable features, etc) and they say something along the lines of “yes! i just saw him go north along the road!” or “hmm, i haven’t seen her in a while, maybe try by the docks” depending on where along the path they are.
- lastly, have something (maybe the eyewitness dialogue) trigger a 1000m “trail” to be visible behind the target. so again, if you’re close, you can run quick and catch up. this would be much easier if the whole guild could see said trail, but that’s not necessary. either way, you’re constantly making progress, not just running a wide loop around the zone.

or, if none of those interest you, try more bounty targets with smaller paths. the hints as they are do nothing more than get you to a zone. they should be better than that with only a 15min timer.

This content needs a rework. Period. You should not have to abandon your current guild of friends, whom you have played with since GW, just so that you can be a nameless face in a huge guild to experience this. The Influence gain per event/dungeon is so minimal in relation to the influence cost to unlock these upgrades that it’s going to take months for some guilds unless they want to spend hard earned Gold on influence. By reading the posts here, once you abandon all the other upgrades in favour of unlocking the guild missions, you won’t be able to actually complete the content.

Just wanted to add my voice to the masses here. It really needs to be seen by ANET staff that there are a lot more unhappy people with how this content has been rolled out, than there are happy.

They don’t seem to care, small guilds are just irrelevant.

In WoW when guild perks came out it was horrible for small guilds too. If you were a big guild, you got those perks pretty much instantly but a small guild took months to get them so everyone ended up joining the bigger guilds leaving small communities to die.

No one even makes new guilds anymore in that game… unless they want to be recruiting a bunch of low level alts who will probably never be dedicated to the guild and don’t want any of the important perks.

It’s sad how oblivious ANet is, they’re making all the same mistakes many others have before them.

It’s taken waaaaaay too long for them to address this. And they still haven’t. I suspect this game has just hemorrhaged a quite a few players – just like how it did in November. To some degree because they keep making stupid mistakes like this content, but more so because they don’t seem to really listen or care what people think.

No facts to back any of that up – it’s just an impression I’m getting from how short my friends list and guild roster have become in the past week – and my own attitude.

I’m finding the motivation to log on hard to come by this past week. Never even did dailies for 3 days straight.

Yes this new content seems to be geared to BIG Guilds and Small Guilds can just live without the new content. Unfortunately many people like to play in small groups of 2 or 3 and still want to do the content since they PAID for the game.

One would think that Anet could have figured this out before they implemented the new content. But to be fair I don’t have any problem with having stuff for BIG Guilds to do but it would be nice if there was stuff SMALL Guilds could do too.

So apperntly Guild Trek dosnt give Comms… seriously whats up with that?

This needs to be addressed, I’d really like to know if this is true.

Anet said you could eventually get 1 ascended earring a week through guild commendations.

If it’s only 2 per mission and trek doesn’t count, how can you get 12 per week?

As a guild of 40, struggling to get the bosses done in time, we’ve pretty much decided that once we get the 30 merits required for the next unlock, we will * never ever ever do the bounties again.*

The short answer is that new content is not going to drive people away from the game. There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.

For myself I can state that this is NOT true. I’m on the brink of quitting the game over this. Not because I cannot enjoy the rest of the game anymore. But for the simple fact that we, as a community, have some valid concerns and they’re trivialized, if not ignored. If small guilds aren’t part of your focus group, and thus not worth making content for, then I’d say I’d rather not be part of your customer group anymore.

And you can’t deny that these bounties have some serious issues for smaller guilds. And frankly, up until now, I never thought we were a small guild. But beating 2 bounty bosses within 15 minutes tells us we’re too small to be worthy of Anet’s attention.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

Yes, it’s important to note this. Anthony’s comment was made pre-patch. I don’t know why it doesn’t line up with the reality of the situation now, but it was not an after-the-fact response.

It seems like ArenaNet thinks “small guild” means 25-50 actives/night or something, whereas to me that would be “medium” and small would be 5-25. I’ve wanted to build my guild to about 10-15 actives, but I get the feeling ArenaNet thinks we’re too small to cater to. Makes me very sad.

While working on a Guild Bounty this evening, we found ourselves blocked by overflow on Frostgorge map due to the Claw of Jormag world event. Only 2 members of our guild made it onto the server; everyone else was routed to overflow. We scrambled to redirect everyone to our second target because we’re a medium sized guild and do not have the numbers to kill both targets at once.

IMO, placing targets on World Event maps was a huge mistake, especially since guesting was opened up at the same time.

Other than that, we’re having a great time strategizing and coming together as a team to complete the bounties.

Edit: We’re getting around 20 guild members participating in each Guild Bounty, although we have probably a dozen more on at the same time (but probably not representing). Some of the fights have been a struggle with these numbers, but we’ve been equally successful and unsuccessful in completing our bounties.

Our guild did the level 1 bounty this evening.

Our first target was Bookworm, which we killed no problem. Our next target was Tessa in Frostgorge Sound. With 10min on the clock left, we all ported to our targets location only to be moved in to the overflow map.

Because of this our guild didn’t get the reward for killing both targets. We also lose influence because we used influence to queue it up and we didn’t get the commendations. This is something that definitely needs to be fixed.

Logging in on this worthless forum just to rant out my 2cents with the new (broken) guild system. Did it once and definitely will never do it again because of how kitten it is.

1. Tracking is an absolutely no fun nightmare. If you’re going to have it in the map as an “interactive” element, then make it kittening interactive. Nobody in your dev team had the brains to add an actual “tracking” element, and instead we have guild members either running around like headless chicken or taking HOURS organizing and camping every single one of them before activating the mission. Does it really take that much brains to add something like, oh I dunno, existing NPCs in the map will give clues/hints depending on how close they are to the bounty or having footprints that vary in size depending on how recent the bounty passed by or the bounty dropping at least SOMETHING that gives a general clue as to where he is? Designer: “Tee hee hee people will have SOOOO much fun running around trying to look for that one guy with only 15 minutes with absolutely nothing to go on! OH the adrenaline rush will be amazing!” Trolled.

2. The most boring combat ever. I thought it couldn’t get ANY worse than the underwater fractal boss, but somehow these idiots pulled it off. Props to the creativity that must’ve been involved into making them this boring and unbelievably “unfun” to play. It’s a fight against time and you’re going to get downed/killed no matter how skilled you are. The sad thing is I predicted this even before my first attempt at the bounty missions by telling my guild mates: “go all zerker gear”. Don’t need control, don’t need support, and DEFINITELY don’t need any teamwork in combat. Just listen to any guild TS – While searching: WHERE IS HE? WP PLZ!!! While combat: insert nothing useful here. I listen to better teamwork in public TS channels for EB and the BLs.

And that basically covers the entire aspect of Guild Bounty. Search and Kill. Fail on both ends.

PS: Not sure if this has been already mentioned or not because I never read this forum but I’ve seen a guy with 200+ guild commendations. So much for imposing more time-based restrictions on ascended gear, eh?

Some of the people in our small guild of family and friends were very excited about the new guild missions/bounties/puzzles/etc. That is, until they found out we can’t do them. Now those that want to do the guild missions and get the rewards are representing in other guilds most of the time.

I hope that something is put in for small guilds to achieve as a guild in the future along these lines. We need some love.

When we are all on at the same time, we will party up and play together but ….here is the worst part… the influence we used to accumulate when we grouped is now going to those large guilds they are representing. You know, the ones that don’t really need it. Our small guild that really needs the influence is crippled by that loss.

It’s a kitten conspiracy. Kittens gonna be kittens. All is vain!

Helping manage a what I would call ‘medium’ guild of a constant 10-20 online constantly, this content is a bit harsh. Being forced to run a logistics nightmare of coordinating 15 people every week with the prospect of maybe in 3 months we’ll be able to do jumping puzzles, which is the only guild content they wanted in the first place.

It was sad telling them that we had to research at least 3 time and content-locked events before we could even access the JP’s. A good handful of the guild lost all motivation to do anything beyond the first kill of tier 1 bounty because that’s where their rewards are, now that their jp’s were put out of reasonable reach.

Of course, we still have a scant few willing to finish the content for the greater good, but really… why do we have to deal with a system like this in which we have to carry other players at risk of them hopping to bigger guilds?

tl:dr – JP stuck behind excessive gating for no reason other than to extend content.

Finally I recalled the stopgap solution of a great princess who was told that the
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”

Solutions:

Buff the boons: Travel cost should be something like 25-50% and last a week for those kinds of prices, if the buff isn’t 25%+ its probably not worth the cost to the guild to have it researching over and over.

Rewards for repeating
Players should get a reward for redoing the mission even if its at a reduced rate, remember CM speed runs? I loved doing CM over and over since the reward was worth the effort, after they nerfed dungeons I haven’t run CM since, for the reward you get its not worth the time. The same should apply for guild missions, sure give them a chest that gives the commendations once a week but give the players who take part at least 25 silver and a rare for the follow up missions they take part in or anyone who already did the mission won’t bother a second time.

*Consider a mid week reset *
Hyping up content that currently isn’t worth playing more than once a week and gives barely more than a world event is pathetic, be reasonable. A mid week reset of say Wednesday is a must if you don’t add rewards for repeating the mission. This fixes the high merit cost problem and makes them more fun for everyone else do if they have already done them once a week.

New tiers
I want much harder missions, bounty needs at least 2 new tiers, completing a tier 5 bounty would give the guild 25 merits and 2 guild buffs such as cheaper waypoints and higher gold drops for a few days but would be much harder than the current bounties.
I’m thinking 30 minute timer, multiple task missions that involve a much larger boss on the scale of the shatterer in an instance where only guild and party members can join.

Tier 3 needs 20 or so players to finish, in guilds of 500 players that’s nothing, give the large guilds a challenge that requires more numbers and skill instead of these easy events we have now.

Mission UI
The current UI is terrible, we should be able to see the list of targets and the timer in the top right corner where dailies should be.

Anyway I wanted to get that off my chest, guild missions in theory sound great but have a lot of changes to go before I would consider them worth the time.

How pathetic, the anet mods decided to remove a post of mine which displayed the problems I found with guild missions. Censoring people who probably have tested games longer than your own team has is a great way to show you know what you’re doing… it is impossible for anyone to discuss one small set of points in a 40 page forum thread… common sense guys, if its a good post it should be allowed its own thread. Im sorry I told the truth and didn’t lie that guild missions had been handled perfectly but your jobs are on the line if you mess up guildwars 2 not mine.

Problems

The merit cost of guild missions is insane.
The time it takes for a guild no matter the size or how often they run missions to get enough merits for the next mission is at the fastest 3 weeks. Thats assuming the guild has all of the influence only upgrades already. That time is insane for such a easy and small part of the game.

Guild missions are designed for small guilds
I ran a trek and a bounty last night, we had over 80 guild members join us for it, we finished the trek in less than 9 minutes and the bounty in 11. Most of those 80 got a chest although a large group found that the bosses got killed so fast they couldn’t get their in time or didn’t do enough damage which means we have to run another mission, which usually ends with the same issue happening next time.
The missions are extremely simple and only last 15-20 minutes which is pretty much nothing for something that costs so much influence and time to get in the first place.

Its easy for someone to miss the reward
The bosses are far to easy to kill, not to mention the issues we have with overflows for these events and world bosses clashing with a guild mission it is far to easy for a member to miss out because of something he can’t control.

Treks give no rewards to participants
This is painful, Treks force guild members to warp around the world finding locations which spends a lot of silver when you have so many players trying to find all 20 locations. sure the guild gets 10 whole merits for their trouble but guild members get no benefit directly for taking part which isn’t fair or enjoyable.
They only give rewards once a week.
For something that was hyped up, to only give 1 reward once a week is pretty poor. you can get all of them done in an hour and then repeat them a week later since doing them again costs the player travel costs.

Merit boons and the other new upgrades are terrible
15% travel discount? thats nothing at all, since buying those upgrades means you get your next guild mission slower the merit cost of these items for what they give is rubbish.
5% gold boost? well I earn a few silver every so often, 5% is pretty much nothing for the amount of times money drops instead of items.
