Did they really put an ad and a IRL date in an IG cinematic ? Will it stays after the date is passed ?

Just because they ‘MIGHT’ announce an expansion on the 24th doesn’t mean it will be ready any time soon. Maybe another 6 months, who knows…

If we compare it to GW1. GW1 only had 1 expansion and that was Eye of the North. The other game additions were not expansions, they were campaigns. Eye of the north didn’t add as much as the campaigns, so if Heart of Thorns is an expansion and unlocks entire Maguuma that is totally udnerstandable for an expasnion. I could see it being more than 5 zones at least but there will also be raids, new dungeons and other stuff.

You’re half-right. EotN was a true expansion for guild wars 1, yes. The other campaigns, were both, aka a standalone-expansion. They were fully functional as independent “games” yet they provided additional content for an existing game.

As for the rest, I’m going to say it now like I’ve done in the past, you people are only setting yourself up for failure or disappointment. Assume it’s only an announcement of the next LS season, or prep-work only for the next LS season, you wont be disappointed at the very least. If the hype is correct, and anet has been less than truthful about their staffing counts, and it is an expansion, then celebrate.

Well, looks like the trademark doesn’t need to be officially approved. It’s now part of the disclaimer shown beneath official releases, etc. ‘Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, etc. and all associated logos are trademarks or registered trademarks….’

I’m guessing it will add a raid, but if it uses current reward mechanics it will nosedive quickly like the 3 headed wurm. If they add a new tier of gear then there will be a lot of angry people that worked hard for ascended. If they increase level cap, same thing. If the raid rewards ascended then others will cry it’s a step towards raid or quit. ArenaNet are not that great with game systems/mechanics so I’m bracing myself for a train wreck.

Ok, I have to admit I’m hyped. If ANET can add some of these: new skills, new WvW map, guild halls, raid, zones, dungeons, etc, then I’m really REALLY hyped.

If it isnt an expansion I am going to lol at the hypetrain derailing and crashing into frostgorge.
If it is an xpac it probably wont be “done until it is done” which would mean 2016 or later probably.
The “new” Anet has a history of dissapointment and hype>substance.

New race? They can’t even get charr armor right, so that’s out of the question.

New class? Maybe, but I have my doubts considering nothing substantial about current classes has changed since launch.

New dungeons? They’ve already said they have no future plans for them, so that’s out also.

So….what does that leave? Maybe a handful of maps, and some LS like content bundled with some feature pack stuff maybe?

Honestly, unless this expansion is massive game changer, I’m sticking to FF14.

Granted it doesn’t help that I so god kitten tired of plants in GW2.

It has to be… What the content will be however is an entire mystery, until the 24th that is.

If this is indeed going to be an expansion, I pray the developers take the opportunity to bring back the voice actors who gave voice to our characters. The cut-scenes as currently constituted just don’t feel right.

I’m pretty excited for what is to come. Gw2 has some serious potential, lets hope the expansion will make gw2 great for me.

Two thngs made me believe this might be an expansion… The way it was announced. with a date TWO weeks before release date and in this patch, and the unique logo for that “patch”. No other patch have had a unique logo…

Of course it’s an expansion, they can’t come right out and say that prior to Pax, what the heck would they announce, it’s also why they used working like “new framework” and “beyond the living story”. They can’t say, come see us at Pax where we’ll announce our new expansion…..kind of defeats the whole purpose of renting a stage for 90 minutes lol!

So, what are the odds of getting Mursaat as a playable race?

Not to be the killer of joy in all this, but regardless of whatever Anet puts out at this point, the RP campaign between here and whatever they’ve been doing really won’t add up to a redemption for a lot of people. The most it can do right now is keep the boat from going under.

Things Anet still needs to learn to do:
- Stop making promises: SAB isn’t back, hasn’t been back, isn’t coming back.
- Stop lying. Refer to above, precursor crafting
- Stop being cheap: Copy-pasting every single piece of content already produced in some way
- Stop breaking things that work fine: Traits, Personal Story, the whole NPE
- Stop NOT communicating with the player base. Gaile’s great, but she must have a heart of some ungodly tough alien alloy because she’s literally being given the task of “Go swim in the feeding frenzy”. Anet’s communication looks something like this, *Screenshot a portal. Add text, “November 4” *.
- Refer to any of the above to see if this is resolved with an expansion. No? Okay, well… that’s going to continue to really pull down any long term profit besides the money an expansion brings.

So, in short, if we’re getting an expansion… great. If they expect it resolves anything… I’m not sure it will. It will buys them time to save the game. That’s about it.

Let’s just say that companies don’t trademark names, logos, and other types of content on products that they don’t intend to be marketing separately and making money on. None of the living story releases have been trademarked or have had their own separate copyright information. Nor have they had a completely revamped Guild Wars 2 logo accompany them.

How this new content will take shape remains to be seen. But there’s no way it’s simply an announcement for season 3 of the living story. There’s a new subtitle, a new logo, and updated copyright information in the trailer:

This indicates a new product, not just a new chapter in an existing one. This is an expansion.

As Veteran GW2 players, I am at ease to finally see expansion. I couldnt stand more and more grinding one the same content for (almoust) 3 years.

By far, I enjoyed everything ANET made for us, but they finally realized endgame content and expansion is needed(after all this rage lol).

Anyway, I hope it won’t be expensive one

Sarcasm, I hope… but honestly I don’t mind the Sylvari angle if they can execute it well and vary it up, there has been a lot of references to humans too in S2, some that could be of great significance.

You are wrong, it is not more Trahearne, everything spells it to mean “More Necromancers with supernatural greatswords” So it won’t be the old cabbage but Marjory obviously that will take the role the player can not fill. The whole thing with Belinda screams setup for this. Rytlock will obviously also come back so maybe we’ll see these two butting heads or something.

To be honest Trahearne has sort of grown on me over the past year, it would be shame if he just died though at least let me kill him. But it is pretty sure Trahearne will not reprise his role in the same capacity as he did during personal story.

I’m actually quite disappointed, If this is indeed the “big background project” they’ve been working for two years.

I wouldn’t be, Colin accidentally blurted about the Jungle Dragon ages ago and Mordy gives them more creative freedom than any other known elder dragon bar “Bubble’s”. If anything it will show that they have always known where they are going with the franchise. Sure an entirely new continent would have been nice GW1 style but we are hardly done in Tyria yet.

The game is fine. Not everyone agrees with your assessment. Any expansion will probably keep a good percentage of the players if it’s good.

I wonder if “a new framework to grow an MMO universe” means we’ll be getting a tablet app expansion, and potentially be able to grow our characters via adventures in the app. Data will be transferred back and forth between platforms.

It would if it was distributed and/or launched in an unconventional way, such as being purchased with Gems (or Gold-to-Gems if you prefer) or even released free of charge and monetized through other Gem paid unlocks, such as new class/race (and the character slot unlocks they undoubtedly generate).

Sure it could be just an iPad card game like Hearthstone, but by reserving 90 minutes on the main stage for just that would cause a kittenstorm of epic proportions. Hopefully Anet is smarter than that.

I don’t know, I went through pretty much all of Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbits were pretty much the center of everything. The Dwarves were insular, the Elves were leaving, humanity had fallen, and only the hobbits could do what needed to be done.

Same thought. My money is on a boxed expansion unlocking things like skills, class, zones, and a compacted release of X story episodes over X weeks after the release date evolves the story and the zones as part of that story, then.

If I dare speculate after Mordy we should probably see either Kralk or Jormag, since Primordus deals with the Asura and the Tengu if memory serves. I wouldn’t mind a Charr focused story coming after this to be honest.

Let’s face it lot of the negativity about Sylvari related stories is due to Trahearne, but even then I wouldn’t call the personal story a sylvari story arch the only reason Trahearne is a sylvari in my eyes has to do with the convenient fact that he is/was immune to dragon corruption (and now we know why).

Other mmorpgs had sold expansions via in-game stores though. EQ, LoTRO come to mind.

I don’t think this is going to be an IPad card game. More likely it will be with animation and real movement. GW2 has been designed to only have 10 skill buttons. It can easily translate to an IPad action game.

ANet can offer the same content via gems in the PC version. This will take care of an uproar where people without tablets are locked out of these new packages.

Mini expansions sold at 200 gems per episode via both PC and tablet platform.

This may tie into why the new daily is requiring us to go to one zone for events… instead of all the available zones. Who knows?.. just random thoughts.
