[HELP] We don t want guild mission
We were just talking about the guild missions thing in our guild.
Even as a pure-PvE player, the thought of grinding Langmar Estate for a guild hall sounds worse than a gear treadmill, TBH. I really hope that they have some new missions on the way, the existing ones are incredibly uninteresting for long-term players. It’s hard to get people to even show up for them anymore.
Yeah, I really don’t get the draw of guild halls. I mean, I will look at one, go inside…walk around, perhaps once, then nada. I hate guild missions…hard to coordinate at times.
As a WvW player, I raid with my World! I couldn’t care less about someones guild tag. As it should be since again, it’s World vs World. So guild missions should have no baring, benefit, or requirement for WvW. Dev’s are making a muddied mess out of the meaning of WvW.
I love the idea of guild halls because of my days of guild wars 1, but the issue i have is in my guild we have about 5 members and were never on at the same time, i think it would be a major challenge for use to fight to get a hall and do the guild missions.
Biofreeze-Guardian
I have a feeling the influence vendors will start selling favor after the patch, so you can probably still save up gold to get the hall without doing a lot of missions.
Clearing the hall should also be scaled to the number of players in the instance, as they’ve done for other variable sized group content.
These are assumptions on my part, but they seem obvious enough that I’d be really surprised if they didn’t happen.
Who says they didn’t make some guild missions or thought about WvW?
They said playing as a pvpteam in pvp gives resources for your guild, etc. I assume there’ll be stuff for WvW too.

And I don’t like crafting, why do I have to craft to get ascended gear?
And I don’t like PvPing, why do I have to do it to get Glorious Armor?
And I don’t like grinding for gold, why do I have to do it to get a Legendary?
And I also don’t like talking to NPCs, why do I have to talk to NPCs to play the story?
And I also don’t like fighting, why do I have to fight to do pretty much anything?
And I don’t like making a character, why do I have to mke a character to play the game?
People forget that when guild missions were introduced, the game had hardly any content for large guilds, while it’s full of content for small guilds. Pretty much every event can be done by guilds of three or more; guild missions introduced content that (at first) required 10-20 members to work together. Now, of course, we’re very familiar with the tactics for the dozen or two missions and all but the challenges can be done by 5 or fewer people.
I’m not against including guild missions that are easier for tiny guilds. However, I think it’s better for guild content to be oriented towards 20+, 50+, and even 100+ member guilds.
The number of people who have to do guild missions is not the problem …. because i just want to do pvp or www . Why they force us to do that ?

Well, you tell me, how are they forcing you to do that? You’ll still be able to do PvP and WvW. You won’t be locked out of the game modes without having certain guild upgrades or anything.
Maybe you won’t be able to claim a tower in WvW, but someone else will and the tower’s bonuses will still be applied to you. Maybe you won’t wind up on a "guild leaderboard’ in PvP, but you’ll still be on the normal one. What exactly are you missing?
If your guild is not strong enough in numbers to maintain their territory, then it makes sense for them to be wanderers. You can join a populated guild if you want a guild hall.
Okay let me see if I understand this.
2 days ago, If you pre purchased HoT, it meant you could get a guild hall. Yet now I read you have to fight for one? If I have understood it right, wtf!!?
I think the issue that these folks have is one that others have in small guilds too – upgrades such as banners / permanent wvw upgrades will REQUIRE you to do guild missions as they are the only way to get the new currency.
You can no longer buy them with gold (as you can do with influence). it simply means that a smaller guild who CAN’T easily do missions like guild challange, guild puzzle, or guild rush will be a a huge disadvantage when it comes to getting resources to build.
I agree that making a guild wide requirement is important to keeping a larger pve centric guild intact, but the new guild changes really hurts the smaller guilds who are more PVP or WVW centric.

I’m confused, do you have to be in a guild with a guild hall to do WvW now? I’ve not seen that in any of the blog posts but I admit I haven’t been following the announcements very closely.
But if not why does this matter? If your guild only wants to do WvW then you can keep on doing that without worrying about what the requirements for a guild hall are.

Buying HoT grants you access to the content. You then get to play it to get the rewards.
You can’t simply buy a guild hall any more than you can buy a level 80 revenant, or being the guy/girl who killed Mordremoth. (Thankfully, because it’d be a pretty boring game if you purchased it and were then told you were done playing it.)

That said, it would be cool if there were something like “guild dailies” for earning favor. Where winning PvP matches on a guild team, running dungeons with a guild team, conquering ground in WvW, etc earned some favor.
Or maybe some of those things can be in the “guild mission” rotation alongside the things that are currently guild missions.

That would be nice, but the issue is the scale, guild mish need to scale up to the size of the guild / map, which would be around 100 players. PvP is just that, PvP, not guild mission worthy.
Its kind of a bang up job on it, but we don’t have GvG so its not something that we can do as a guild mission.
It would be nice if there were PVP or WVW options to earn favor. But Anet has said multiple times favor comes from 2 things, your leftover influence (at a low exchange / time gated rate) and guild missions.

Hi,
We are a guild of 3 guys . We love WWW.
With Guild halls , we will have to do guild missions. So why we have to do puzzle jump and things like this , when in this game we just love killing people on the battlefield !
Why can t we play as we want .. ??
why can’t you? will your guild dissappear if you keep playing like you have up till now?

It won’t disappear, but they just won’t be able to build upgrades / get claim benefits. that’s the major problem with the new guild system – it doesn’t reward small guilds of 5 or less people.
Its a fundamental change, guilds stop functioning just because they don’t have enough people to maintain them. Where right now you can as a solo / small guild do almost anything a big guild can do, if you have the capital.

That’s not the issue OP is talking about though. This thread was about having viable ways to earn favor as a 3 person WvW guild.
Furthermore, this would be very important, because Guild Halls grant you upgrades and tools FOR WvW.
If you want to have huge scale 100-person Guild Missions, I think you would be better served making a separate suggestion thread for it. Massive guild missions is kind of a hijack discussions and having a separate thread would make it easier to concentrate on possible suggestions for large-scale guild content.
That said, I have no problem with massive guild missions, but I want to see stuff for small guilds too. The title of the post was “Missions for All” and I would like to see them stick to that as a promise.

Yes, I completely agree with you, I have a 2 man guild, and I’d like to see viable options to allow for favor building. but I think we should gain favor by doing things other than guild missions – which, as they are designed – don’t fit well with less than 7 people / can be much harder.
I’d welcome a rework of the guild missions to allow for smaller groups having a higher success rate, but the likelihood of such a change is not high. Thus suggesting a different way to earn favor would be nice – like getting 5 wins in tournament while your guild is named as the active team, or taking a keep / castle.

There is currently one type of guild mission that can be soloed, this is the guild trek so even a solo guild will have the chance to get some favour.

This is a nice thing, but it all depends on how many different missions you have to do and what amount of favor you get for each.

While I definitely agree on cross gamemode missions. Im not sure catering to really tiny guilds is a thing that would be healthy for the game. At least regarding the bigger goals for a guild anyway.
Plus. As always. There are ways around this problem either way. It just takes organisation. Then again that would require some effort.
Also 5 or 6 is the minimum possible for most missions. And with unlimited tries. It should be alot easier to find a way of succeeding. I wouldn’t say its super hard either if you know what to do.

Isn’t it possible that they’ll revamp guild missions so that small guilds can do them, too?
just play as you want and kill stuff on the battlefield as you said
What is the problem OP?
you can do guildtrek & guildrush with little amount of people too so you can easily get guildhalls with few people too i think
and you cant expect every bonus & upgrade you can get for guilds just by playing only 1 part of the game i guess
if you want it all you have to play it all

That would be a bit strange considering the fact that they mentioned the ability to buy influence as one of the problems with it.

You can?
Does anyone stop you from going out into WvW as a guild group and fighting? Think not.
If your guild is not strong enough in numbers to maintain their territory, then it makes sense for them to be wanderers. You can join a populated guild if you want a guild hall.
Maintain? Once you clear it, you’re done, it’s yours (watch the livestreams and other interviews). It’s not about taking it or keeping it for us. It’s about building it up with Favor, which at the moment is only granted through Guild Missions. My small Guild of 7-9 people can roll WvW Keeps, Fractals, Dungeons, PvP, etc. because we have around 4-5 on during our peak times, and we happen to be good, solid, long-time gamers. But Guild Missions, in their current form, are difficult for us to do with our numbers (Our Guild is nearly fully upgraded despite this fact, and not through Gold). To be frankly honest, we wouldn’t want to deal with the crap that comes from being in a large Guild with their various personality conflicts; we like our group of friends just fine. But, as I’ve stated elsewhere, Destiny’s Edge (Anet’s “Meta” example for a Guild) was, by recent lore, the greatest Guild in Tyria, and they were 5-6 at their peak. The new focus of Living Story is Tyrian Guilds replacing the Pact to protect the world. So my Guild and I can go fight Mordremoth and his minions for hours on end, we can fight and die in WvW for our Server (Go ET!), and we can climb the leaderboards of PvP with our Guild PvP Team, but because we can’t clear some random PvE Guild Mission that has nothing to do with any major content in the game we can’t upgrade a Guild Hall? Ok lol. Smaller Guilds should be afforded ways to earn Favor as well, and I am not saying that they can’t, because we just don’t know all the details yet.
TL;DR Which is why, due to the various posts on this matter, it would be nice for some clarification of what Anet meant by “Small Guilds”, potential scaling and minimum numbers required for capturing Guild Halls, more details on Favor and exactly how it is earned (as well as any alternate methods to Guild Missions) and how much it will take, or if they will be reworking Guild Missions to be more inclusive to small Guilds.

Small guilds are just parties with a fancy name.
Wow, I can’t believe some of these complaints.
If you are too small for guild halls, then you are too small for guild halls. Deal with it.
You’ve lived thus far without guild halls, you will continue to live without guild halls.
Some have put the time into cultivating a healthy guild (120+ active members) and guild halls are perfect for that.
Not every guild needs to have a hall. No one expects a band of 3 buddies to own an entire territory anyway. You guys will be nomads. If you want to have a guild hall, then the 3 of you guys need to sit down and consider joining another guild or do some recruitment.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Seriously, I don’t know what they expect. Maybe Anet could implement smaller guild halls that a high-population guild would not enjoy/be able to use, but they offer less to do or something. It would be fun if they could get them, and maybe they can, but only if the 3 of them could clear the Mordrem. If they end up taking longer to upgrade their guild halls too, well, that’s to be expected; less people producing resources, less gets built.
We spend all our time in WWW. If we have to do something else outside of WWW , we will not fight for our server !
You don’t have to do anything outside of WvW if you choose not to, but you will (possibly) not be able to earn a Guild Hall. Not sure your approach is the best way to get what we know about the current means to earn a Guild Hall altered, however.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
I’m getting really tired of the " you must be ‘x’ size to be a ‘guild’ " mentality. It’s bullkitten. A guild consisting of a husband and wife is no less a guild than a guild of 500 people that don’t know jack kitten about 90% of their guildmates.
There is no reason why a guild of 2 cannot have a hall. They have to earn it the same way the bigger guilds earn theirs by fighting off the mordrem, fine. I’m perfectly ok with that. They’ll upgrade it distinctly slower because they are smaller. That’s perfectly fine too. As long as they are willing to work just as hard as a larger guild, there is no reason their size should be the barring factor.
I would be rather interested to know how long a couple of the above posters’ Large Guilds have been together. Ours has been together across 2 games over 6 years. I would say we epitomize the term “Guild” pretty well. If they didn’t want Small Guilds, there would be a limit to how many people it takes to form a Guild. Seeing as there was/is not, then yes, I do think that a small Guild deserves a Hall as well. We could recruit 200-300 if we chose to do so by mass recruiting, but then we might get saddled with elitist, entitled individuals who have kitten opinions (please see above), and we do not want that. Size does not make a Guild. Anyone can get lots of people together. That doesn’t mean they have staying power, community or common purpose. Bear in mind, I have met some very functional, close knit medium-large sized Guilds, but it usually takes a LOT to keep them running right, and none of us in our Guild need a second job as we are parents, husbands, wives etc with full schedules. By the way, we are the crowd that Guild Wars 2 is catered towards (please see GW2 Manifesto) in case the elitists hadn’t noticed lol.

Totally disagree. New Guild Missions are one of the major draws for me. Even f the content is completely dull, it draws in the majority of the guild and the company is always the highlight.
@OP: sorry that your 3 person guild isn’t well suited for this system…but I don’t know what you expected… Of course the devs aren’t going to balance around 3 person guilds. At that point, it would practically allow people to solo their bank guilds for a personal hall.
They shouldn’t cater to a couple of buddies that have a “guild”. That’s not really a guild its your party with tags. This is coming from a guy in a three person guild as well.
I think it would be awesome if we could get some form of response from Link Hughes on this. Just for some clarification.

HoT will include a solution for this for both guilds that are WvW, and PvP oriented that want to build and expand their Guild Halls and need the favor generated by guild missions. Same goes for guilds that have a mix of players interested in all three. More info down the road a bit on how this will work once we’ve got it a little more solid on our end.
Edited to add: Everyone will have to do the actual mission to capture the guild hall once per hall though no matter what. If your group online is too small, you’ll need to invite friends (or pay/beg/sing-songs-to-woo peeps in Lion’s Arch!) to come with you and help you claim the guild hall to own one. Or you could always grow your guild

Any indication on group size required for capture mission?

This doesn’t sound very promising, there is a reason why I have a small guild with only 5 people in it. I do hope I and the rest of my family are not going to be excluded in taking part in the guild hall capture.
Our guild is small and will be staying this way as the rest of my little family don’t play often enough to run an active guild. Please can you ease our minds regarding this?
Our is it a case of tiny guilds like mine will be alienated in guild hall capture?
Yeah, while I was looking forward to getting a guild hall, I’m pretty sure that if I buy HoT, that such a thing will not be within my reach.
Trying to build up and maintain members without forcing them to rep and play on my schedule is just too much. I like the idea of giving players a safe/fun place to go to play with one another and do fun things without requiring them to play my way or what have you, but if I wanted a guild hall I’d have to pretty much dictate that they a) do what I put forward to them and b) make them buy an expansion just to help get the guild hall in the first place.

While youre at it, make sure you also do something for those of who do enjoy guild missions and want something other than the ones weve done over and over (and over and over) for the past few years. It is time for new ones already.
Any indication on group size required for capture mission?

We’re still debating minimum size, you can see a lot of discussion down in the guild CDI thread that’s helping us inform some of those decisions.
And no – you don’t need people to be in your guild to help you capture it. Bring friendly guilds to help you out, ask nicely in Lion’s Arch, etc.
Yeah I was one of the people after Guild missions and during the CDI who campaigned for ensuring guild halls were easily accessible for all. Guild missions sadly locked so many of us out
If it scales from a normal party size upwards, that would prob help most guilds.
Good news that we can use ppl from outside of the guild, atlhough that takes it away from the guild’s accomplishment if more than twice the number of ppl aren’t guildies and will reinforce the need to ensure a small minimum size.
