Has Guild Wars 2 been worth your $60.00?
Considering that I hadn’t even been following the game and just took a gamble based off the fact it was an mmo that I hoped would be different to the usual kind, then putting +300 hours into the game…
Yeah, I would say so.
Yes.
Even if I got bored enough to leave the game today or tomorrow, I’ve had plenty of value for the money I paid.
I don’t know about ingame currency/items buying (125 gems for one black lion key?), but then that’s not the topic.
you see, looks like most of you are mmorpg addicted players and u want the game to last forever. just don’t do that, play it, have fun, and move on. it’s a beautiful day outside lol
Absolutely yes. I love this game. I have been playing only my first charachter and it’s only about 30lvl but there’s absolutely so much things you can do. And after they fix all (or atleast most) bugs, it surely get’s only better.
Still reading this? You know there is something better to be done for sure. -.-’’
NO! its boring, and stupid. reaching max lvl in a few days its worst ideea ever
I am still stunned how much detail and quality is in this game and a game that has no recurring subscription simply leaves me in awe.
I dont ever rush to get to end levels and those that do will always suffer boredom. Thats your fault for your impatience.
Yes!
This is the best MMORPG design I’ve played. (I’ve played EQ / EQ2 / AO / DAOC / WOW / EVE & about a half dozen others)
It costs almost $60 to go to the movies (with company of course) when you include snacks and soda. That’s only 1.5 hours of entertainment.
I think $60, and no monthly subscription, has more than paid for itself.
Now, the additional $120 I’ve dumped in to the BLTP? That’s a different story.
No. No endgame. I play wow now and haven’t touch gw2 since launch.
No, it hasn’t. Unfortunately. What’s even worse, letting my expectations down hurts more than the $60 I’ve spent.
Well worth the 60 bucks. Love the game =)
Well, good news is probably 95% of people said yes, and most of the 5% that didn’t were complaining about end game… yet they spent 100’s of hours just to get there and probably enjoyed every minute.
Is this game perfect? Certainly not.
Best MMO ever? It’s high up there.
Will I keep playing it for months? I don’t know… probably.
Was it worth the $60? No doubt in my mind whatsoever.

At least if/when I stop playing for a while I can come back to it in a years time and not have to pay a sub to see if I like the changes.
Absolutely. I figure the average game costs 40-80 bucks. This is right in the middle and on those average games, I might spend a week or two on them, beat them then put them down and not look at them again. I’m going on my third week of GW2 and still going strong. I love the game and see a lot of replay value. So I figure, even if I quit tomorrow I’ve certainly already gotten my money’s worth.
ive spend 100 bucks on games that let me down. Gw2 hours n hours of fun. Worth the money, so much ive tossed 100 usd into the game and i intend to get all expansions when they come. Ofc i cant spend like that again, but was nice to help the devs that created this mmo that gives me hours of fun XD
People who complain they did not get their money´s worth with several lvl 80 characters should check their combined gametime on all characters and compare it to the gametime any current singleplayer game offers. Even if you think endgame totally sucks it seems weird to say you didn´t get your entertainment, why would anyone keep playing that many hours if that was true?
i said i didnt worth.. im wrong, ofc,it worth, but it doesnt worth the time to keep playing. 60 dollars its a small amount of money,we all spend alot more for alot less. i bought a mouse for this game with 100eu+. so im not complaining about money,im complaining about disapointment. ofc, maybe its not my tipe of mmprpg. to less action,no dungeon soloable,no dungeon for 2-3 lowlvl ppl. if u enjoy gw2 as it is,im really happy for u!
A couple hundred hours put into the game and still going. Definitely worth it for me.

But now game gets boring… hardly motivate log on. tryed level alt but… pah.
Best $60 spent!

Nope. After the storyline, and on the way through it, the game was nothing more than repetition. Repeating the same event with a different color. The skills are few to none and offer very little variety. I have even written an entire thread on it. :P Well researched and everything for those of you who would whine at that comment. The game feels more solo than an Massively “Multi-player” game. The game lacks incentives. I bought collectors, and other than the cool charr and the tin, it wasn’t worth any of the price.
I’ll be spending my time with games that I feel have had more thought put into the overall survivability such as Tribes: Ascend, Planetside 2, and Mechwarriors Online.
I realize those aren’t MMOs, butttt (MMOs have turned to kitten.) Even Diablo 3 makes me /facepalm.
To anyone who enjoys the game, I hope you continue you enjoyment for many month/years to come. No sarcasm. If you need spare mats, I’m happy to give you what I have. Take care.
No. I had trouble motivating myself to bother logging in the second day of BWE3. My motivation still hasn’t improved. I haven’t logged in yet this weekend. Okay, I’ll log innow to check my ‘age’… 283 hours on my main. I think I’ve given it a fair shake. shrug
Why do you ask?
For some degree of comparison: If I was forced to play GW right now, it would be GW1, just to continue vanquishing/cartography.
(edited by Esoteric Rogue.7651)
Exactly. And, at least vanquishing in GW1 was enjoyable. The AI in GW2 are for the most part, exactly the same. No Minotaur or ettins to trap you in a mob. No angry griffons rushing your (healers) support characters. You can solo clear through just about everything with no skill needed.
I just wish I actually had internet earlier on, so that I could help contribute more, earlier on. I can’t even stand GW2 pvp. It’s the same thing over and over and over and over. I can STILL log into gw1 and get a different experience each time.
That’s pretty sad.
Let’s see. My top toon is level 50, I’ve only finished about 35% of the map and I’ve well over 100 hours of game play in. Yes, yes I have gotten my monies worth by far.
I figure once I get map completion done and all the instances ran a handful of times each, I’ll likely be done but for only $60 and so many hours of game play, I can hardly complain.
Plus, they are constantly fixing bugs.
My biggest complain though, is questing is still questing. I enjoy the dynamic events, the pvp is ok (sorry but I don’t play a mesmer, thief or guardian, so it isn’t great), WvW is decent and the dungeons are challenging. Questing though, well, its still the same thing as it has been for the past oh, 10 years.
Still a wonderful game and after playing this, I’m incapable of going back to my last MMO. Oh, I tried and just couldn’t stand it. So glad I didn’t buy the latest expansion.
Oh, and for the record, I went through D3 and it was a terrible experience when put next to the prior games. I was really frustrating with that mess of a game because it completely failed to live up to the name DIABLO!!!!! Mop is no better. Sorry Blizzard, its over. No way I’ll buy titan (whatever it is).
It was worth the $45 I spent on it about a week ago. Found it on sale. I am having fun except for the Brown Bear Bot Swarm I run into during some events.
I would have to say yes. I played from the betas, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself. However, I have a ranger at 80, and am really ambivalent about trying to equip to the nines and continue playing her. The endgame zones are not really fun. So am playing with my alts (have 5, with plans for a 6th alt). None of them are grabbing me – /sad face. Crafting is not really as satisfying as I thought it would be. Drops seem bad to me, and not just because of DR, I have always thought they were lacking May have to back away for a while and see if the old spark comes back. Really sad because I have been so extremely stoked about the game. I feel fickle. LOL!
Not all games are for everybody, but I seriously thought I would be playing GW2 for around 2 yrs – and that still may happen, just need to see how things pan out.
But for those who are still going strong, awesome! Go for it! Maybe I’ll get my mojo back
Edit: And I expected something a bit different from storylines. I was really looking forward to those, more from a lore/story standpoint than anything. They seem a bit .. difficult. I know, I know, L2P and all that. But still, some seem very difficult (Durmond Priory esp) and I’m not really encouraged about completing them. Partying up can help, but “personal story” seemed to indicate solo to me … I dunno.

Considering I have spent $60 on titles I didn’t like and I love this game, YES! This game is an insane value.
Has Guild Wars 2 been worth your "50€" (about 65 washingtons)?
yes - wouldn’t even regret if it would be the digital deluxe (75€), but it was sold out
my little bro even bought the collectors edition (150€)
fanboy...one single negative word about GW2 and he flames me to death
“Only the finest of potatoes in my zerkburgers.”
Absolutely. After waiting 5 years for this game, knowing that this would likely be my main MMO of choice I have not been disappointed. I don’t play 24/7 but I feel like there’s so much I haven’t seen yet. I’m going to play certain areas on certain characters so that there’s still land left for me to explore when I play my alts. I love switching between different professions because the leveling experience is different.
I’ve only just started participating in Dungeons and I’ve been having a great time learning how to adjust to this new battle system. It feels challenging and I’m happy that there’s a lot more I need to master.
They’ve been tweeking the Mesmer as well so it isn’t quite as lackluster as it was during the last two beta weekends.
The cities are epic, the landscapes are epic amd the few bosses that I have encountered are huge and terrifying! I’m barely half-way done leveling too!
There are times when I do get a bit tired of leveling through DE’s, but when that happens I’ll start crafting a bit till I can play the new personal story chapter. Generally compared to my other MMO experiences, leveling is certainly less of a chore, though not entirely seamless.
100% yes, GW2 is epic!
Anyone that has to ask themselves this question about any MMO (especially one as unique as this one) has serious entitlement issues and needs to stop corrupting the world with their big heads.
I think 250 hours so far is worth the 55€
The money i spent on it for myself, sure. I spent this much on other single player/co op games and put less hours in so totally worth it there. Worth the money i used to buy some of my friends the game? No, most of them quit within a few weeks (not for WoW). So happy for the enjoyment i got out of it…as an investment for an mmo. Not so much, will probably taper off for other games with better established and polished pvp and check back if this one ever cleans it up. Half of my friends are in the planetside 2 beta and having a ton of fun, good chance you’ll find me there.
No it’s not worth my money.
I don’t care if i gave me 50 hours of fun in it, this is a MMO it’s supposed to be fun for thousands.
I wish i could get my money back.

Yeah, they’re supposed to be “fun” (if grinding is fun for you) for thousands and you’re supposed to pay 15 more dollars every month…
Considering I spent 150 euros on the CE, played a lot already with no end in sight, the music in my car, the art making my office pretty and the box functioning as lunch box … I would consider it money well spent.
Furthermore, considering I have a full time job, girlfriend, friends and training for triathlons, to me it is a good thing this game doesn’t require insane amounts of time for level or gear grind. I intend to get a legendary …. eventually, but until then I can have all the fun I want without feeling required to do anything in particular. My play time is limited, my pockets are deep. A.net caters to my style of play and I like that.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
For me it has been a strong yes, so many hours of gameplay and promise for more content down the line. Amazing value in my personal opinion, what do you guys think?
I have already like 420 hours of playing out of the game… that’s more than many single player games that cost as much if not more.
Definitely worth the money, specially since I still don’t see the end of the game yet.
A PvX guild for mature players with a life.
NO. And I actually put $80 into it.
At one point I felt like I was going to get more than my money’s worth, then the poorly implemented class nerfs, diminishing return issues, etc. made the game not fun and I’m feeling that I want much of my time back.
Heck the other day I was in Orr at a camp which regularly got sieged. I was eating so I would go out and auto-attack a bit and then return to a safe spot. I was till moving randomly, nothing like the stationary bots you see around.
All of a sudden my drops went to junk. Holy crap, is the system so stupid it can’t recognize the difference between a real bot and a player eating.
From what I’m reading on the forums, the “relaxation” of DR is still nerfing legitimate farmers.
Yes, easily worth every penny, including the extra £20/30 I have put into the gemshop.
I have had a level 80 for almost two weeks now, still not quiet full exotic, still have 50% of the world to explore, still working on maxing my crafting professions, feel like I have plenty more to do.
Yes.
I have many, many problems with the game, and it has let me down severely in some aspects. But there are other parts about it that are so important to me, they make up for the negatives and then some.
yes very much. im still enjoying too its my ’’alt’’ game and i have tons of stuff left to do.
Yes, it has. Thanks for asking.
To the OP…perhaps as a single-player cooperative rpg, but that is about it.
My biggest beef is combat mechanics.
What I dont like, and the reason why many mature mmo enthusiasts aren’t playing much longer is that combat and wvw is meaningless.
Specifically about individual player on player combat mechanics, the combat mechanics that are absolutely necessary for organic player-centric and involved game-play against opposing players is the skill-based and directional combat mechanics, like that found in the game “War of the Roses”.
It is a smart, refreshing, tactical, strategic, player cooperative & competitive AND rewarding mechanic of something that should be truly meaningful; player combat management. Directional attacks and defenses that force the player to actually be engaged in combat instead of passively involved after hitting a button.
Its’ combat mechanics, have combative encounter risks and rewards that are not found in any mmo, and which is one of the greatest faults of the mmo products that have been served-up in the last several years.
So after having had the opportunity to play some War of the Roses and reflect on the combat mechanics of GW2, I have this opinion that comparatively, the combat mechanics design of character combat in GW2 is absolutely horrible and unrewarding. Can be said with most other mmo’s, but as the new kid on the block game, the developers missed out on a huge opportunity in this regard.
So worth the $60 bucks here….perhaps….but not for longevity. I’d be substantially more captivated and engrossed in GW2 if player combat and player combat mechanics actually mattered, but it doesn’t.
Yes.
Message Body length must at least be 15 characters, so there you go.
The average movie costs a little over $8 for 90 minutes of Hollywood junk (to be polite).
So by the hour, that’s a little over $5.33
I have 395 hours played in GW2. If I’d gone to the movies, that would be $2106.67.
Instead I’ve paid $60, plus about the same again for bank and character slots.
Either movies are obscenely over-priced, or I’ve gotten way more than my money’s worth out of GW2.
Also in the city I live, I’d be lucky to find a movie as cheap as $8… That’s just the cost google claims is average.

Yes, yes, and more yes! I am smitten with the game.
I got my 60 bucks worth for a game.
Learned i only like 2 profs out of the whole game to play as the rest seems to gimicky and squishy. To top it off theres no skill tree. You’re given premade skills depending the weapon you use and some the profs dont even get weapon swap.
Traits imo is a terribel excuse for “skills” because they actualy dont offer much to the player that even uses them. Much rather recive points to spend into attributes as i see fit and not be forced to spend them as a whole into traits.
Skill slots are a joke imo..They should have named them buffs and not skills as the majority of them are complete junk. And the elites are worse lol.
Basicaly for the 60 bucks i paid to play this game, ive come to realize i dont like mmos. Just 1 big huge premade. They all seriously lack uniqueness when it comes to building your toon.
Definitely worth its price, even though it has various flaws – but what MMO hasn’t! I am still enjoying it a lot and got quite some things left on my to-do list. But I am an altoholic these days anyhow, and only got 2 classes to 80 so far. Lot’s to do still
