The fact that we can toggle anything should make people happy, and if Anet never added these shoes, none of this QQ would be here.
It’s a rare drop off something you can only run into with a mastery, think of it instead as a extra “prize” you might be able to get.
Imagine if they were account bound….. which easily could have been done.

And like others have mentioned, prices will fluctuate, and they depend on the community demand. If people will pay 1.5k gold, then great, doesn’t mean you have to.

This comment can only be written by someone who isn’t interested in this item.
If it was a pre – fine. But it’s only an exotic skin for a SINGLE armor-weight piece.
When nightfury was about 3000 Gold everybody screamed and shouted “omfg too expensive bla” and now – when it’s a niche item – it’s absolutely fine. Hypocritical.

You cannot be serious, about 4 of them were sold on the TP total..

I just wish they made the toggle a reality, this is really annoying. I was content with my ugly boots, but now that I know this item exists I cannot help but think about it while in game looking at my current kitten ugly boots.

Reading through this post I am really kind of surprised

I am hoping it something that people just haven’t discovered yet, and it isn’t some rare drop. Since I would love this on my Asura characters.

While I agree Anet should have ways to keep us playing, I find it extremely hard to believe that this is one of them as someone suggested earlier in the thread.

Anet “should” add a feature to hide your shoes, they “should” not make it a gem store purchase, they “should” not make it a rare drop.

I freely buy all kinds of things on the gem store every so often with real cash, so I feel that they could and should throw us a bone every now and then.

When a feature that has been asked for, and asked for is finally “answered” and this is their solution then it does in fact feel like they are trolling us.

ANET, hey don’t be Jerks just give us the hide feet feature please.

People have been asking for toggles for all pieces of armor since the beginning. They been slowly adding it in one piece at a time but stopped at shoes/chest. The whole reason the shoes were added was because it was widely requested constantly. But instead of adding a toggle it feels more like they added it in a way to spite everyone who’s constantly pestered them for it. “Fine! you can hide your shoes now, good luck getting it through. Now get out of my office!” :O Wanted it for my Heavy armor mostly since majority of the feet armor are huge boots.

Item in the gem store? People QQ it isnt obtainable via playing the game in some way or it’s locked behind said paywall.

Item added to the game obtainable by reasonable means or as a drop? People now QQ that it’s ‘rare’ and that it’s expensive.

People should be happy this item is obtainable for free, no cost involved – how so? By the creature(s) that drop said item. Treasure mushrooms.

If the drop rate is meant to be low, it’s gonna be low and only some people out there may get the drop thus depicting the costly prices on the TP atm for said item. This is normal.

Eventually, if people stop being lazy & actually go try for once there might be more of these in stock which would inevitably lower the cost. Supply and demand.

Either way, if there is one valid point people have made in this thread that I do agree with – it’s the fact that said item should’ve been made a BASELINE, toggle-able feature since launch. Yeah. Wow. Something so simple that other games already have implemented yet GW2 dropped the ball on. Yikes.

I will be productive and go around hunting treasure mushrooms whilst exploring & playing the content in hopes of getting said item along the way.

I really don’t think I’m lazy. I’ve sacrificed health and sanity farming these things for the past two weeks. I’ve spent two whole days now farming them in Auric Basin. (I even swapped back and forth between TD and AB for about three hours and then just kept farming Auric Basin because the Chak event was annoying me). I’ve used magic find boosters to get 440% and I have had zero luck so far.

The mushrooms are annoying, typically in enemy infested areas, have tons of health and are just typically extremely unrewarding besides the daily kill.

I don’t really know what else to say. I’m still not even convinced they drop from the treasure mushrooms. I’m actually starting to get really upset and frustrated that they made such a fairly frequently requested item so difficult to get — especially when there’s a toggle for other armor pieces. It’s not like Heart of Thorns has a ton of new armor anyways — why in the world make these cool niche boots so difficult to obtain?

And people don’t seem to understand that things like the mordrem saber are in super high demand and are obtained naturally through the Dragon Stand meta. Meanwhile, a niche and comparatively lower demanded item (the boots) is from treasure mushrooms, and few are going to want to waste their time killing these things as time goes on. Most people are killing these for their collection piece, and perhaps their daily rare. So, really, I only anticipate the price of these invisible shoes to go up at this rate.

Give them a mystic forge recipe or make them a super expensive vendor item. Maybe have some invisible frog vending them for 1,000 each of the new currencies +100 gold, or something.

I know it’s “early” into the expansion, but I’m afraid the later it gets, the less they’ll consider making these more easily obtainable because “lots” of people will already have spent thousand*s* of gold for a single pair. If you did gems to gold to buy these shoes (assuming they’re even on the trading post — there’s typically not a single pair listed), it would cost a minimum of about $450 USD. Most other modern games offer a toggle of some sort for free — or the “invisible” skin is much more reasonable to obtain.

I just can’t see myself acquiring one pair any time soon, let alone all three, ever. So here I am, making a QQ post and asking that they reconsider the way these are acquired before going to sleep super late, empty handed, again.

I don’t mind earning these, but I was hoping that we were moving away from such a hardcore RNG-gate. Especially for such a highly requested feature, and doubly especially for an item where its siblings have a free toggle.

I don’t really understand your position, TBH.

On the one hand you say this:

Either way, if there is one valid point people have made in this thread that I do agree with – it’s the fact that said item should’ve been made a BASELINE, toggle-able feature since launch. Yeah. Wow. Something so simple that other games already have
implemented yet GW2 dropped the ball on. Yikes.

Which is perfectly reasonable and then on the other, you go on to accuse everyone of QQing (as if they’re all the same person, with strangely contradictory opinions), call people “lazy” and say they should be “happy” with Anet’s “solution” here.

If you, genuinely, think a toggle feet option should have been added, to begin with – which would neither have relied on a gemstore purchase, nor on a rare RNG-based ingame drop – surely the rest of your post is moot?

As, if that had been the case (whether from the beginning, or implemented more recently), neither of the other options would have been necessary.

So, no “QQ” from either side.

Can Anet pls fix the droprate?

Reasons for this:
- Only 6 drops got sold alltogether via TP at an average price of 1500 which is 4500 if you wanted all armor types
- It’s been three weeks since launch. Many already have stopped killing mushrooms as they have all collections complete – means supply will not rise! 2 weeks * 6 items is nothing.
- Compared to other items there is no justification for this low droprate / price
- the treasure mushroom events are boring as kitten and bugged (just slay, do nothing more, pets, clones do nothing on them) – i am not interested in doing this for months!
- It encourages being afk in dragon stand while waiting until the meta event gets finished.
- The feature of hiding boots was requested since launch and this new droprate can only be actually meant to troll players who requested it.

Don’t get me wrong, I want em too, and try to farm em every day, but whether or not I get em now or later doesn’t matter too much to me. (If I never get em as a drop, that’d suck, but such is my RNG luck)

At the moment, not every has stealth detection, and not everyone knows of the existence of these to even try farming em.

As far as toggles and whether or not it’s needed, I don’t have a great argument for it, but I also don’t feel the argument of “well we have these other toggles, and other games offer it” is great either.

I just think they’re too rare (if they’re even a drop from treasure mushrooms — I’m still not 100% convinced).

Most items’ prices have started to settle. We’re about halfway into the third week that Heart of Thorns has been out. Even the Mordrem Saber has fallen below 1,000g now for sell orders.

However, with these shoes, the sell orders are getting higher and higher. There’s not enough competition to keep the prices in check.

I really wish they would shed some light on this:

1) If the shoes even drop from treasure mushrooms. Just a yes they do, or no they don’t.

2) If they do drop from treasure mushrooms, is this low of a drop rate intended?

If they don’t drop from treasure mushrooms, I think it’s probably safe that they can tell us now. The people getting rich off of people paying crazy amounts for these have had their fun and we can start amending some of the misinformation about these, if that’s the case.

I think it’s suspicious that the prices keep going up incrementally as well. We know they initially sold for 1500, then 2000, and now there’s a pair for 2500. Also, we already know that one person that got a pair lied about not knowing where he got them. He then said where he supposedly got them from, but how are you supposed to trust someone that has already confessed to lying? Especially when they could be making thousands of gold a day off of these. /tinfoilhat

So, now based off maybe half a handful of reports that seem sketchy at best, we now “know” that these drop from treasure mushrooms. It’s now written in stone on Dulfy’s site and the official GW2 Wiki.

So while it does make sense that these would drop from treasure mushrooms, I have my doubts until someone provides a screenshot of it dropping from one (if not a video). I’ve regularly been farming these — sometimes much, much more than I should be. I’ve had zero luck and it seems to be a complete waste of time.

I seriously find it hard to believe that out of all the items in GW2, that invisible shoes were chosen to be the rarest drop in the game. Out of precursors, the new weapon skins, preserved honey goop and bat tonics, that INVISIBLE shoes, were chosen to be the rarest item in the game.

What is that even?

Well… here are some random numbers…

If about 1000 players kill a mushroom every day (which is a very small number) and one single player of them gets a boot-box-drop (droprate 1:1000) and then 50% of them put them on TP would result in a new item every two days. But our supply rate is quite lower than this. With a droprate of 1:1000 a single player would have to farm mushrooms on average 333 days to get one single skin = 999 days to get all skins.

But I doubt that 1000 mushroom kills are enough for a day – probably there are much more kills of the mushrooms each day. Remember the TP covers EU and NA servers! So the droprate might be much lower – e.g. 1:2000 or even 1:5000 […] When it is such a low droprate a single player would have to farm mushrooms for years to get this skin. Even a droprate of 1:1000 disencourages me to go on with farming them everyday…

Sorry but even ghostly infusions drop more often. Every other item drops more often…

Honestly, if they really felt the need to directly cover the cost of implementing it, it probably would have been preferable to just put the toggle feet option on the gemstore, for 800 gems.

Would still have, probably, caused an uproar.

However, if this really is from the treasure mushrooms and if the droprate really is this low, then it would still have been a less bad option for many.

Sad thing is even though I want them the value is so high it’d be painful to not sell them and buy a legendary weapon instead. It shouldn’t be like this. Yep. I’m the one with the 2,001g buy order for a pair of boots. I just want it to be over with. I made about 1,000g since HoT launched and I’m just so (literally) sick and tired of farming for these things. I pretty much gave up last weekend.

So I put up an incredibly lucrative buy order (Monday) and still haven’t been sold a single pair of invisible boots.

I don’t necessarily mind paying such a crazy amount so I can stop worrying about these things. But throwing no amount of gold at these is going to make them drop more often or even make a pair available — especially as more players are doing other things in the game.

Matthew, John Smith, Colin Johanson, Gaile, ANYONE help, please!?

For those of us that want these, this obviously has to be wrong, does it not?

And before anyone says I’m crazy (I already know I am, but let me try to convince you otherwise):

I’ve been obsessing over finding these. And you can’t just stretch getting these out over time like you can a legendary, or whatever (unless they’re crafted — still not totally convinced they’re from treasure shrooms, but whatev).

Anywho, with none on the market, if you want a pair that means grinding these stupid treasure mushrooms day in and day out until you get a drop.

That wasn’t the case for me for, like, two weeks straight. So… Hurray! Freedom.

I hope for the sake of everyone else that wants these that they’re made more available. Assuming they’re a dropped item. Still not convinced. Good luck, invisible hunters.

Yea, I use the T2? sylvari cultural on female for light armor, with certain leggings you have invis shoes, but limited to race/sex. (luckily for me it’s the only char I want invis shoes on) Thought more of these boxes would’ve dropped by now as more people got stealth detect.

@Ninski: Looks awesome <3
Unfortunately not available and for me there’s no real difference between a “not obtainable item” and an item that costs between 1500 and 2000 gold xDD

Hoped that, too but no more drops… When I find the time I will collect some numbers to show how many of them got sold on TP.

Can anyone confirm if the box drops from the bouncy daily chest, or is it just an actual drop?

They came from daily bouncy chest. I can confirm that.

Anet really needs to stop trolling us, i know is such a stupid and ambigous term but is the only way to call this why make a simple toggle item such a rare drop?, a gold sink, a bad joke, i dont know it seems like both at this point to be honest.

Fix the drop rate at least is a bad joke already.

I’m still struggling to get ahold of my pair, too, but in the interim, I found a nice workaround! I thought I’d share, in case anyone else wants a substitute while they’re wrestling with the RNG.
YMMV, but the Twilight Arbor shoes for light armor only covers the top of your character’s foot. With the right leggings, it can look like you’re not wearing any shoes outside of the hero panel.

I counted the sales from the trading post using gw2tp.
Slippers:
min: 7
max: 14

Boots:
min: 4
max: 12

Stompers:
min: 9
max: 19

Totals:
min: 20
max: 45

HoT released about 7 weeks ago = 42 days ~ 0-1 drop / day

What I suspected is shown in the screenshot: Sales via Direct Order get placed more expensive a few hours later….

Luckily it seems that the prices now are too high for most of the players. I hope they will drop below 1.000 gold…

Edit: Can people pls stop buying cheaper shoes and put them for 2k into the TP? This sucks and is unfair to any other players… This way prices will never drop >.<

It’s like trying to find a virgin in a whorehouse….

That’s not difficult. You just have to stop looking at only the girls.
