Good morning everyone!
My girlfriend and me have been farming the mushrooms in VB / AB / TD for weeks now every day and my gf finally got a boot box from a treasure mushroom in Auric Basin. It was included in the daily bouncy chest.
Skin 1/3 unlocked!

Congratulations! I’m doing at least 3 mushrooms a day since 3 weeks now and the 3 Mushrooms at Dragon’s Stand 1 or 2 times a week, but nothing. I have no really hope to gain all 3 chests, if the drope rate stays at this level. The price at the Trading company drops a bit, but still way to high.

Same, every day, the same mushrooms, and nothing. This drop rate it freaking ridiculous, and punishing for anyone not willing to spend over $200 to hide your boots! This REALLY needs to change because it is punishing players that genuinely want them and rewarding people who want them just to sell it for a ton of coin. These aren’t precursors and cost more than some Legendary weapons!

Yes you are right – we keep farming them every day even though we already got one drop. But as expected, supply on TP dropped into an abyss as most of the HoT players seem to have their (favorite?) collections finished.
I still call this armor skin by what it is: a troll by the devs!

Yeah, their (limited) availability on the TP dried up a long time ago.

This is a ridiculous situation really. OK, there wasn’t a huge demand for a visibility toggle, but the fact I can jump into nearly any other modern MMO and check a box if I want to hide armour pieces (or overlay them with non-armour pieces) and yet here I would be expected to fork over £40 for an expansion I don’t want then grind the same boss every day from here to eternity for a 1/10000 drop merely says to me that this is the biggest troll of them all.

I could say “Well played, Anet”, but I can’t bring myself to stoop to that level.

I finally gave up on it a few weeks ago. It’s literally impossible no matter how many times I kill it. I’ll just go back to prior wishing there was a hide shoe toggle (and hide toggle for everything else as well) and pretend the invisible shoes never existed. Maybe they actually don’t and it’s been some messed up photoshop gag and TP bug this whole time.

I still do it, sometimes just log in for a few minutes to kill Treasure Mushrooms in hopes of getting it. I want to beseech the devs to increased drop rate for the boot box or make it a toggle. This isn’t a weapon or item with crazy flames, leaves contrails, or has an amazing special effect, this is just going barefoot with a character while keeping the stats and runes. That’s all. You have more people interested in getting wings than doing this, and compared to other games that let you have a similar function, it’s mean spirited.

After reading through 6 pages of text, I fail to see why this had to be turned into a prestige item so rare and expensive as to be pretty much unobtainable.

Going by the logic of the game’s UI itself, this should be a checkbox, like other armour slots have, pure and simple.

Imagine having to pay 2300g for the ability to hide your guardian’s gloves , for example, then having to pay the same for your mesmer’s shoulder piece, only to find that it’s so rare, there isn’t even a single piece for sale.

This should be about having the ability to hide your foot slot armour piece, not turn it into an actual piece, with all the impracticalities that this brings.

…and then adding a drop rate this low.

It actually feels mean spirited in a way.

Not cool Anet, not cool.

Id have to agree with this. Its the same with alot of cool items like the various effect infusions. Making something grindy as hell and RNG doesnt make it prestige. Now if you place it behind, say, a collection, THAT would be cool.
I dont really care how tedious those collections might be, but it makes alot more sense than having to grind mushrooms between 1 (if you have godlike RNG) and 6 billion times.

true@tallybunny. Anet fixed a lot of the grindy things in the last patch but of course nobody thought about treasure mushrooms.
It’s a “devilish” circle:
- they are so rare that there are barely no drops
- prices rise into madness
- people don’t even bother to make offers on tp
- anet team thinks nobody is interested in this item

so we will probably never get a fix to it (i call this item-droprate “broken” because this is not the way achieving an item should work).

I don’t want to twist the knife into the wounds of you guys who still haven’t got any drop – I got one skin from my gf after farming the shrooms for 1 month. But since then not a single drop – and we want all of the skins so 1/6 unlocked…

It’s sad that nearly no players get the skins who really want to USE them in their wardrobe – most of the players use them to get rich – and that’s what attracts the traders, who are probably the ones who place the highest bids on TP. Stupid thing…

And every time, I’m looking at the Trading Company, I could puke. It’s like the very same people are seeling these items over and over again, so the rich get richer.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Way not cool.

The biggest problem about all this is… would Anet even be willing to change it at this point? And that’s what bothers me the most, because honestly it really should’ve just been a check box from the get go. This ultra rare RNG drop and making them an actual boot skin just doesn’t make any sense at all.

As some skins have been flipped on TP some people must have unlocked the skin in their wardrobes.

In a game that already has a solution for not wanting to see a gear slot (uncheck the “show” box), making the solution for not wanting to view shoes be “invisible shoes” is just crazy. All visible gear slots should simply have a show/hide checkbox.

I’m not against fun gear and fun ways to get it. This is just a very strange solution to people wanting bare feet.

I don’t think you fully understand the issue here.

I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ll reiterate. Had these RNG mushroom boot drops been something really spectacular like highly detailed, jungle-themed boots that made glowing mushroom caps sprout after every footstep, then that would be something worth implementing as a mushroom-hunting RNG drop.

BUT. This is literally just an invisible boot skin to hide your current footwear. This is something players have been requesting for a long time, and instead of applying it as a simple checkbox like helmet, shoulders, and gloves as everyone would’ve thought/appreciated, they’re tied to this nonsense. And because they are so rare and so sought after, there are little to none on the trading post. The few that are up for sale have been set to obscenely high prices (we’re talking thousands of gold per piece).

Personally, I don’t think being able to hide your boots should be tied to something such that “a very select few can get it.” And in case you haven’t been reading the forums, people have been working for it for many months now with no success. To me, it’s incredibly disheartening and quite honestly completely ridiculous that we should have to struggle for something that literally took nothing to design. There were no art assets used (save for the icon), no concept designs, no model work, no dye channel implementation, no special effects tied to the skin, etc. It’s nothing more than the “hide boots” checkbox players have wanted, only you’re at the mercy of nigh-impossible RNG, with the only other option being to shell out thousands of gold on the trading post if there are even any to purchase for your desired weight class.

I honestly cannot wrap my head around why this decision was made, when it made more sense in every way to give players the show/hide checkbox.

Ironically being a gamer too I have characters whose designs I sometimes redid because it would look perfectly unshod as well. I’ve on and off tracked Treasure Mushrooms, and find it insulting that it’s a virtual pair of $200 Adidas (which make this even more mean spirited because you’re LOSING your foot gear), often costing more than a legendary weapon. I’m very tempted to post a new tread because I’m very certain this one’s ignored. This is sad because we know Matthew Medina, who does some stellar design work, is also a barefooter.
