Is boycott the answer?
You see IRL when we cannot get our voices heard after exhausting every possible avenue, a boycott is usually used as a last line of hope. So my post was to demonstrate that the community has tried alot, possibly every way to get a better communication from Anet with no sucess.
The bolded is untrue. It’s not that we aren’t being heard; they hear us. They’ve said so. Some of the information the present back to us in the twitch streams, in youtube interviews, and in magazine interviews shows that they do hear us. They have started interacting with us here again (finally), and they do touch on specific suggestions and call outs. They hear us. There really is no doubt there.
The issue is simply either
a) they (for policy reasons) cannot necessarily disclose information
or
b) are unable build the content fast enough
to appease us. A game, like a city, is not built over night. Many of the issues you listed, they have taken steps to address. There is content now that will kick your face in if you think you can just roll through it as a zerker. They have added courtyard to pvp as a trial (so to speak) for an annihilation mode in pvp. They have stated that they are working on / looking at other pvp modes. Gaile has dropped into the recent thread regarding conditions and stated that while she cannot give details, that is an issue they are looking at, and have been for some time. Just to give a few examples. if you take a step back and look objectively (which you really haven’t been doing because you’re displeased), you’ll see that.
In your own words you have nicely described how things are not addressed. No doubt they listen, no doubt they respond. The problem is they never give us answers (okay company policies), but they also never fix them(not enough time?) there are issues that have been “worked on” since beta. We are all aware that things take time, how about giving us updates on them. EG: guys the eta for issue A is 3 months, issue B is on testing phase, issue C we are not ready to discuss.
Almost everything that has been patched, changed, or fixed in game has been on someone’s list.
How so? Did someone ask for a bugged NPE? or for outfits rather than armors in the cash grabbing gem store? How about the gem converion? Sure they are changing back but that speaks volumes on their mind set/ direction. Im aware that my issues are not the same as yours, however what you call my issues have 100’s of threads on the topic so again all I want is a update with the new direction they are going.

To give them credit, as I stated before, some thing have been addressed. Is it perfect? Of course not. Is it the be all, end all solution? No. However, they aren’t sitting with their thumbs up their kitten either.
They used to give us some answers, but they were never good enough. In fact, a lot of people were downright curs to them. So the stopped talking to us. Now, they are talking to us again, but they have laid out the guidelines. They’ll interact, they’ll offer some thoughts, but the absolutely will not tell us what’s being developed until it’s ready to roll out, and considering how they were treated, how they are still treated, I consider that fair. It’s not like they don’t take some of the suggestions into consideration when they develop. Sure, sometimes they make some really interesting (read: stupid) mistakes, but you know what, as a human being so do I. I had a job interview the other day and for the love of everything holy I couldn’t explain the different between ‘double’ and ‘Double’ in java. Sometime so completely basic I should be able to explain it in my sleep. Sometimes, we’re just dumb. It’s just that simple.
In regards to not enough time, keep in mind what they have been doing. LS1 was a year long testing phase (they even admit to making us guinea pigs). They released in China, which took significant rework. They attempted to address the assorted complaints about lack of tutorial by porting over some of the things they changes for China. They’ve built us some new features, they’ve tried giving us some new content (which chunks of that content again address the zerker issue). They’ve working on laying groundwork for the base game and tweaking or fixing things as they went along. (Not to mention a lot of us are almost certain they are working on an expansion and just haven’t told us yet, because it’s not ready).
They aren’t a huge company, and as with all development, different things have different priorities, and different teams work at different paces. It’s just how it goes.
You’re displeased with their communication methods, I can understand that. I think a lot of us are. However, you’re making it sound like because “your” specific issues haven’t been address to “your” specific requirements, they aren’t doing their jobs, and frankly, that’s just blatantly untrue.
Almost everything that has been patched, changed, or fixed in game has been on someone’s list.

Not sure that it is fair to question actual bugs in this context.
The NPE was implemented based on player feedback. Players have commented since that they like it.
Players have requested since before launch that the cash shop be focused on cosmetics.
There was even a player that commented that they liked the conversion change.
Players specifically asked for elements like the wardrobe.
Players asked for the ability to wear their non-armor/outfits in combat.
Cash grabbing gemstore ? You mean the cash shop that requires no actual cash expenditure and which contains nothing but optional/non-necessary for gameplay elements ? I have my own concerns with the current implementation of the game (and am refraining from buying gems with money or using the gold/gem conversion as a result) but the actual cash shop implementation in GW2 is one of the (if not the) most forgiving business models I have ever seen in an MMO.
Sure you want an update on your concerns. Concerns shared by others. But you are claiming that your gripe is that no one’s concerns are being addressed or have been addressed. I am not questioning your desire to have your concerns addressed. I am calling into question false statements about other people’s desires for the game.
Can I have your stuff? Need fifth legendary.

Ever heard of if have nothing worth saying.. nevermind. Gl with that 5th leg though!
I think the truth of the matter is, a lot of peoples’ complaints can be summed up as, “We haven’t had a big expansion to appease us and distract us from issues with the game.”
I mean, the problem with Living Story as the main selling point of content updates is that it’s just not big enough to capture the attention of players who are bored and burning out.
It’s like this: You ask people to explain why they’re bored, they’ll come up with a laundry list of reasons, some of which they may have thought up on the spot. You give bored people something to hold their attention and they’ll forget 90% of those reasons.
In other words, although the game has some issues and some of them are worth fixing, most people would probably forget the issues exist if they are preoccupied with other things. Don’t get wrong; some issues should be addressed (and already have been, or are being looked at) – COUGH TRAITS COUGH. But at a certain point, Anet needs to understand that “fixing” various design problems is a never-ending list.
There needs to be a balance between addressing existing concerns and providing people with hours of real, actual gameplay. And by hours, I don’t mean “an hour or two.”
The funny thing is, for all I know, they’ve already embraced this and are working on big content patches (maybe even an expansion). But their policy is so so closed off that it’s impossible to know. I mean, some games hint at things they’re working on, at least. We don’t even get that. It’s just, “We’re doing things in our offices that presumably having something to do with GW2.”
I’m a pretty understanding person, but at a certain point, I have to ask, “Why am I even here?” I don’t mean that in some dramatic, revolutionary way. It’s just… the answer to that question is inevitably “because GW2 offers some systems that no MMO on the market offers in quite the same way.” And yet, I’m constantly reminded of how Anet’s staff seems like it’s full of amazing, talented people who are being smashed into the ground instead of being allowed to fly.
Sometimes it feels like they’re operating within a police state. It’s not exactly a comforting impression to have of a game company’s staff.
People keep shouting about all these massive issues that have been here since release and is not fixed and yet I have never actually seen anyone that have said WHAT these issues are and HOW to fix them.
i’d recommend you read the pvp forum some time,
issue 1, exploiting your way to the winning team.
over a year ago anet decided to add team select and spectator which utterly ruined every match by allowing people on the losing team to abandon their team and join the winning side, resulting in constant 4v5s and 3v5s every match,
we have been screaming at Anet since and i’ve posted a fair few detailed suggestions, we haven’t heard a peep from Anet.
issue 2, SKYHAMMER,
everyone hates this map. there is a thread in the pvp forums, actually i wont call it a thread, i’ll call it Anet’s bin.
anyway, every time the pvpers band together and make a thread expressing our seething hatred for this horrible map, Anet junk it in to one merge-thread which they simply labled “skyhammer” it is currently at around 1,500 posts of loathing and hatred (and suggestions, mostly to remove the kitten thing!) and not a single red post yet.
i’m happy join this boycott until the fix the teamswap exploit.
which in all seriousness is so easy to fix. (but i won’t go in to detail here, read one of the hundreds of posts on it in the pvp forum.)

erm ok jst a few to keep you amused.
zerk meta I havent used Zerker gear on my warrior in over a year
pvp lack of content I dont play much pvp, still plenty of AP to get there for me
condition in pve I simply dont play condi spec in pve
lack of challenging content enough challenging content in wvw/pvp every day
lack of rewarding content they continously add new reward schemes
gem conversion not a problem, more gold for my gems
precursor crafting i got my legendary long ago
zerg as the answer aka mindless and boring farming instead of fun content I spend less than 10% of my game time in a zerg
that would be a great start! No issues here.
“I have never tried to go to the other side of the river, so it’s not true that the bridge is crumbling”
Remember, remember, 15th of November
lol this is funny. You want to boycott a game where they already have your money and you don’t pay a monthly fee expecting that to somehow hurt them? They pay bills for servers, electricity and salaries, yet again they already have your money and you don’t pay a monthly fee. This is like when a kid holds their breath thinking that it hurts someone else.
If you don’t like how things are going don’t play, I haven’t played for several weeks now.
It never happened in other MMO’s that died out, so it wouldn’t in this one if it got to that point, every game will have issues, this game does as well, however It’s currently the best option out there and I won’t quit it till i find something better

LOL sounds like you die a lot on hammer. If your a hot join hero then yeah expect a lot of 4v5 and even in yoloq expect to run with a kid who Q.Q a lot and rage quit and leaves their team stranded. The new hammer update made the map “playable” so idk why you’d even bring it up. Leaderboards are know to be exploitable thats why people who really want to show they are PRO go to cash tournaments. PvP forums are just like general forums different people different groups but its not how your making out to be all doomsday prophets.
I have this theory that even if there was a universal list of problems that everyone agreed on (as one can consider one thing a problem and another not), and some how anet fixed everything on said list and using even the players suggestions, then I can garuntee the next day after that miraculous patch, ANOTHER LIST would pop up, and the cycle of complaints would begin anew, with ironically some being based on the players themselves own suggestions that may have not worked.
You can make lists, you can keep them however long you want and point fingers back at it to prove a point. But people need to understand that its NOT a flip of a switch to fix things (I will agree on being updated on the situation though and any progress). Eadly, it can take months to yeas. Changing the smallest thing in an mmo can have a ripple effect on many other systems of the game, and if one breaks, you may have to trash it and start over.
As for the whole “I don’t work for arenanet, why should I suggest fixes?” Fine, dont. I honestly don’t care. If I like a game, and want it yo succeed, I’ll help. If devs choose to ignore the advice, that’s fine. I may not be giving the correct advice cause I don’t truly know the situation, or the devs are dead set on their own paths and ignore everyone else.
Games are meant for entertainment and fun. If you are finding yourself angrier at the game, then vent in a constructive manner and explain. If it goes unresolved, then stop, take a break for awhile, check back later (that means yes, even not returning to forums, as you still aren’t letting the anger fade). After a month or more, if it hasn’t improved, then cut the cord. Stop torturing yourselves
There is no reason to boycott anything. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. Simple as that. The rest of us will still be thankful we can get this good of an mmo without a sub fee.
This is the exact ArenaNet attitude.
It’s the very same one that has been around since GW2 was released.
As a player you should be concerned about making your voice heard and devs. should take your opinion and thoughts into consideration. You do know this is a specially dedicated place to Discussing GW2….hence the name Discussion Forum.
There is no take it or leave it philosophy when you have a forum up for discussing stuff.

It helps if you actually read the forums. You seem to have a tendency to be completely oblivious to things people are talking about.

Yes, there are issues lordkrall. If people perceive them, then they exist for those persons.
Obviously from your posting history, you are not one of those persons.
I once had to break up a physical fight between two third grade boys, because one of them thought that everyone had to love Star Wars, and the other did not agree.
LOL sounds like you die a lot on hammer.
wrong, i don’t die there at all because i don’t play it, haven’t played it since my first match there and will never play it again.
and say “hot-join hero” all you like, there is no way i’m waiting 30 minutes for a Tpvp pop, and suckhammer is in Spvp (and anet refuse to remove it despite the unanimous call for it) so thats out, all thats left is the exploitable, teamswapping cess pool of hotjoin that Anet refuse to fix.
the pvp community is shrinking fast and for very good reasons,
if you pvped there is no way you’d be such a whiteknight.
but being a pve’er if something is exploitable it is fixed in a week, so happy days for you!
in pvp you shouldn’t hope to have a severe exploit fixed within a year.
i’ve pumped alot of cash into this game, but pvp is still the same handful of maps, single mode, and exploits go ignored, so nope, cash=content. neglect=neglect.

Imo, this post states it all perfectly.
Don’t take the game so seriously where you can’t back away from it and these forums and just let your frustration cool. If you spend more time being frustrated than having fun in the game, then you need to take an extended break, and/or find a game that is more fun for you.
Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.

I must have missed the paycheck from ANet for the new job I’ve been assigned of improving the game. I mean, we all, as players, got hired for this new position, right? What other reason could there be for people trying to foist that responsibility on the players when it rightly should lay with the developers?
That being said a boycott isn’t the answer. Not unless it was a near universal player moratorium on buying gems. It’s far easier to just stop playing.

It’s funny that you mention it, cause I tried sPvP for the first time yesterday and I used hot-join.
Here’s the galling part: It took me like 10 minutes, including some forum searching, to even figure out to join a team. Hitting “join” and then being brought into spectator mode is one of the most confusing interface choices I’ve ever seen.
A couple times, I accidentally waited and picked a team after a match started because I clicked off the main screen where you choose without thinking and couldn’t figure out how to bring it back up.
I’m not new to MMOs either. I’ve been at it for at least half a decade now. I can’t imagine how confusing it must be for people who are new to video games. Kinda makes me wonder how many of those spectators aren’t just people who haven’t figured out you can choose a team.
Im to the point that im ready to stop gambling wars 2 and looking for a new game unless i see a positive future.
Thank You for your hard work, even though it is very hard to notice sometimes.
Ahem
It’s also worth pointing out that some people use claims of quitting the game as an attention-getting tactic, when in fact they are still quite active.

This is what intrigues me about people who ‘quit’, but yet stay in the forums active. Sure, maybe they quit in game, but they like being active in the forums to still point out flaws or denounce something whatnot.
But there’s the key. The quitters are still paying attention to the game, keeping the forums active (a dead game forum is scarier than one populate by complaints, then you know the game is in trouble if no one even talks).
Some quitters are simply waiting for anet to add something they like, then they’ll be back. Some may just wait for it to hit a higher popularity so they can slip back in and be part of it. Some may be here to denounce the game because they feel cheated in spending money and eventually not liking the game, justifying it as some kind of ‘revenge’ or ‘payback’.
But either way, its activity. They are still invested in the game despite saying I quit. And look at what happens. The NPE changes, the ‘quitters’ denounce and other players denounce, it gets attention on gaming websites. They get attention. The NPE, for good or bad, reached some of those who didn’t like it in the first place, and although its ‘bad press’ (depending who you ask), they may try it to see why its now ‘bad’ and realize to them its better.
When I quit WoW, I made sure to quit anything related to it. I even quit going to mmochampion until the urge to play WoW again was gone. And it worked. I no longer cared about patch notes or expansions, or anything. I don’t care about the rage people have that a class got super buffed or something. If anything, I am an outsider looking in, and reflecting back, I was shocked how I was just like that at some point.I kinda laugh at it now.
So here’s my advice quitters: if you want to truly quit, and not deal with gw2 ever again. Then stop. Stop everything. Don’t come to the forums, don’t read up on any news about gw2, don’t go to gw2guru. Go cold turkey. If you can’t, if you persist, then you are keeping the forums active and you are still showing signs of some willingness to come back. You haven’t truly quit, you are as active as ever.
you are as active as ever.
Agreed with all but this part.

OK, I’ll give you that, but to be fair, you quoted more than “as ever” which started the confusion :p
What do you hope to gain by boycotting? And what are you boycotting exactly? This confuses me greatly. I am not sure what you want to accomplish.

The problem there is though they might not play 20 hrs a week anymore they’re still posting 20 times a day…that’s where failure lies in.
Also, as many times as people keep asking for some kind of road map or updates/statuses on things A.net is working on, you will never get an answer because of their corporate policy…THEY WON’T/DON’T TALK ABOUT ANYTHING UNTIL IT IS READY FOR RELEASE…and right or wrong, that comes straight from the top, that is Mike O’Brien’s rule, and until he changes it you can scream at the top of your lungs, it won’t matter, they will not tell you/us anything.
what i came to ask is a game direction or plans so me as a consumer can plan and decide if spending my time with the game will be a good time investment.
I’ll simplify your dilemma for you. Do you enjoy playing Guild Wars 2 right now?
→ If yes, then spending your time with the game will be time well spent.
→ If no, then maybe you should try something else.
That’s it. If you like the game as it is now, then play it. If not, don’t. Maybe it’ll get (subjectively) better in the future, maybe it’ll get worse.
Your problem is you’re thinking of a game as a “time investment.” There is no ‘investment’ in playing the game… except in the game itself. Which is pointless unless you do actually like the game.

Indeed. If the game seems to have more importance than the reality of your existence, it is time to re-evaluate priorities.
Play for fun.
The gw2 community is way to split to ever make a boycott and if one does ever happen i expect the boycott to have the same outcome as the cod boycott they had awhile back
I think anet already knows their game is dead.
Leaving an already dead game?
That will show em!
The problem still remains that some people think that the entire community speaks with one voice. There are many who hate the zerker meta but there are many who love it as well. I think everyone can agree about the condition situation, but it’s probably not that easy to fix. What this post absolutely ignores is the number of things that have been fixed that never seem to get mentioned.

There’s such a long long list of bug fixes, this was all off the top of my head. If you can list 100 things not fixed, I can list 200 that have been. But no one pays attention to those.
And believe me it takes a lot longer to fix stuff than point it out.

One person boycotts because of too many armor/weapon skins in the gem store.
On person boycotts because they like the weapon skins in the gem store but don’t like the RNG Black Lion Chests.
One person boycotts because they don’t like Megaservers. The maps are too full.
One person boycotts because they left before Megaservers and the maps were empty.
One person boycotts until they put in expansions.
One person boycotts until they change back the NPE.
One person boycotts until they change the traits system.
One person boycotts until ANet gives them a roadmap.
It’s a bit much to think that ANet will respond to each and every person boycotting the game for whatever reason they are upset about.

this is true, logically boycott is only really effective when you have a clear goal that you can organize people around, and thus make a demand from a business. However, if you just have a bunch of people randomly mad without demands, you basically just lose customers, and lose money and your business suffers.
So i guess the first thing the OP would have to do theoretically, is get a large amount of people to figure out what would make them happy with the game, present it, and act on it. Pretty difficult task, and fairly unlikely.
However, as some have already said, they are losing customers who dont like x y or z. It may be unecessary to organize anything. I dont play much anymore, probably mostly because i have done most of what the game has to offer, and much of the new things dont entice me much. The endgame is grinding easy content for gold, which i dont find that entertaining. So im basically not gonna play often until they have something i want to play.
Funny thing, now that i think about it, someone who could actually organize a boycott, gather demands and give anet a list of what would make a large number of people come back to the game, would actually be highly beneficial to them.
However, thats no easy task

if it actually takes much longer to fix a bug than it does to find a bug, its highly unlikely you can show twice as many fixes as found.
I’m talking about once a bug is reported…it takes Anet more time to find the bug than it takes the original people to report the bug.
However, many bugs that are found are the same bugs. Hundreds of people might find a bug, but it only has to be fixed once. Which means that even though you can find bugs faster, that doesn’t mean over time Anet can’t fix more bugs than have been found.
Ahem
It’s also worth pointing out that some people use claims of quitting the game as an attention-getting tactic, when in fact they are still quite active.
Yeah I find this so funny to read, that they actually spent their time in checking if those so called quitting players are still active. Why don’t you, instead, make some interesting content huh Anet?
But there’s the key. The quitters are still paying attention to the game, keeping the forums active (a dead game forum is scarier than one populate by complaints, then you know the game is in trouble if no one even talks).
Some quitters are simply waiting for anet to add something they like, then they’ll be back. Some may just wait for it to hit a higher popularity so they can slip back in and be part of it. Some may be here to denounce the game because they feel cheated in spending money and eventually not liking the game, justifying it as some kind of ‘revenge’ or ‘payback’.
You said it right there. I’m one of those ‘quitters’. Haven’t played the game for 5-6 months now, but not because I hate this game or anything. This game has the potential to have it all, instead, imo and in the opinion of LOTS of other people, Anet is taking the road that has the most bullkitten on it. That’s why I often check the forums(not as much as I used to in the first 2 month I quit playing them game, my hope and my trust in Anet to make things right keeps becoming smaller and smaller), but I still check it when I have nothing to do at college or something.
As for this boycot? I did let my wallet speak for a very long time(haven’t bought a penny worth of gems from this greedy company), and now I’m just showing them 1 player that doesn’t spent time anymore in their game. That, plus communicating(Anet needs to work on their part of this too……sigh…) is the only thing you can really do.
If you aim is to get things better boycott is the last thing one should do. Even if a boycott is successful (think of the message you’d be sending if it fails!) what will you really achieve? if they decided not to action something they did so because of valid reasons making less money will not make those reasons any less valid all you’re going to get is at best they will not be able to hire more people to improve the game. At worst you’re going to get layoffs which will naturally damage the game.
One thing thats important to remember is an MMO is a game aimed at many different types of players. Its easy to say I dont like the zerker meta but can it really be fixed ? why makes zerker meta? Obviously the fact that DPS is the optimal thing to have. Why is DPS the optimal thing to have? because at the end of it all what we want to achieve is to Kill an enemy and DPS is the thing that does that really. So how can you remove DPS from being the Meta? by forcing some players to play other roles (like say making players unable to keep themselves alive without a healer or unable to stay alive without crowd control)
Oh look it requires bringing down one of the main pillars of this game which is also the reason why so many chose it no reliance on the trinity. There is also the question of how much such a change is really needed. I mean its not like you’re forced to go Zerker but if you introduce the trinity you or someone in your party will be forced into specific roles.
Classic case of the cure being worst then the ailment if you ask me.
Like Vayne said Arenanet have been listening and have been changing a lot of things requested from the community from day one when they introduce crafting from the bank to like a week ago when they reverted the gem exchange. They cannot action everything not just because they ignore feedback but because not every requested change is in the best interest of the game.

ehh oversplificication. The problem is not so much that you need to nerf dps, its that dps can do almost everything based on use of an ability as well as any other stat set, but the other stat sets get no boost to dps.
why would you need someone statted for support? dps guys might is just as good. Why would you need someone statted for defense, dps guys blocks, endure pain, etc is just as good.
Anyhow there are many discussions on the topic, with more in depth analysis and solutions that dont involve making every one die if they are all alone. Do people actually read these forums? not everything is great, but there is a wealth of analysis, and solutions to many of the games issues.
Hmm… I wonder how long it will be before players realize that suggestions are almost never really considered. Why do you think they did away with the ‘suggestions’ forum? They say it was because they got too many (they did, btw), but in the grand scheme of things, they don’t care. We the players have no idea what it takes in order to change the game so that it lines NEXON’s pockets with more money. The devs and NCSoft shareholders at NEXON do, and they decide what get’s made. So suggest and gripe away, NEXON wont have it.
Now, to list some other issues that have been around since before release:
-Warrior GS 5 skill RUSH run in place bug
-Warrior GS 5 skill RUSH run past enemy to hit air
-Warrior rifle burst skill KILL SHOT fails and shoots in a random direction away from target half the time
-Pristixx couldn’t be fixed, so they just swept it under the rug and left it dead.
-Elementalist staff fire skill 4 BURNING RETREAT rubberbands the player back to where they were randomly
-Running down a slope and taking 10 packets of falling damage with each step (slope walk death bug)
-Ranger LB skill 4 POINT BLANK SHOT randomly knocks down a target without moving them back (no stability on target)
-Target teleports back to where they were after getting knocked back by point blank shot, negating the effect entirely
Just to name a couple.
Why is it a problem that Ascended Rings can’t be slavaged? If they’re taking up inventory space, just merch them. That’s been possible since day 1 of Ascended gear.
To be fair its more of a rewards problem that snowballs into this. See you run a lvl50 frac with a pug, if you get lucky that will take about 1.5 hours. As reward? you get sometimes something decent, but 99% of the time a useless ring or nothing. now after a 1.5hr run ur left with one less inv space. Fair?
If you want to talk about fair, how about 1000’s of hours of wvw and maybe 2 ascended rings in all that time, both useless.
Ascended stuff should have been made tradeable, so you can profit by your runs and others who cannot do fractals or would rather not can obtain their rings etc in less than a few years.

They reverted the gem exchange a week ago? My ui must be messed up because I still only have block exchange.
Im to the point that im ready to stop gambling wars 2 and looking for a new game unless i see a positive future.
Thank You for your hard work, even though it is very hard to notice sometimes.Ahem
I agree. The mindset reminds me of the Terry Pratchett line about how gods on the diskworld love atheists because their belief burns so bright.
Never heard of schadenfreude, have you.
P.S. Playing forum wars is actually far more entertaining than it has (ever) been to play the game itself, and it saves one all the frustration and headaches associated with the latter.
(edited by KarlaGrey.5903)
People keep shouting about all these massive issues that have been here since release and is not fixed and yet I have never actually seen anyone that have said WHAT these issues are and HOW to fix them.
Uhm, I did. At least on one particular main issue (megaservers). And I wasn’t even playing the game at the time.
I suggested that instead of the debacle of megaservers, that the devs create a system, possibly even similar to WvW, where we as players are encouraged to participtae in the dynamic events that are already in the game since launch. The more dynamic events that we complete in a particular zone, the more it contributes to a ‘world’ score for your server. The better your world score is, the greater reward or buffs you get(reward system to be determined). However, this forces players to look at the world map and see how we are doing. If Iron Marches needs help, zone in there. If Timberline Falls needs help next, zone in there. It encourages you to play in any and all zones, and not be funneled into one zone.
Playing with in a pocket of 5-10 people completing events in a zone simultaneously while other pockets of players are completing the rest of the events in the same zone, I feel, would add greater game experience than putting everyone into overflow into one zone and having 50 people mash the #1 key to take down champs.
So…while I may be notorious for being “loud” on these forums, I have offered up meaningful suggestions. Met with an acknowledgement by Chris Whiteside and, apparently, ultimately dismissed in favor of Megaservers. Since megaservers came out you have a new set of issues like completing the tequatl event with your friends or guild, guild missions, and unless you participate in WvW…why does a home server matter anymore? Things like that. Created more problems than solved I say.
People keep shouting about all these massive issues that have been here since release and is not fixed and yet I have never actually seen anyone that have said WHAT these issues are and HOW to fix them.
I had multiple suggestions for several other hot topics on these forums, as well as other folks.
For example: the ascended gear debacle. Do you think people just…cried? In those enormous threads there were suggestions. Ultimately Arenanet listened to some of them and made some improvements such as account wide ascended pieces I believe. Honestly, this is only half-satisfying since its a “duh” move. Its another example of arenanet putting something highly controversial into the game and knowing that it will spark huge rage, sitting back letting us rage, and then “fix” it and claim that they listen. They’ve down this countless times with every hot topic. So I am less than impressed, but thats another story.
So, again, you’re incorrect that folks don’t offer up suggestions. For ascended gear, we said we want it account bound. We said we wanted to acquire them in more than one way(has this been done yet? I honestly dont know). Etc, etc etc.
