June 23 Specialization Changes
because this change could go very poorly with players for awhile. advertising it as a good thing and it turning up bad is no good.
We can safely assume any update of any size the devs do because it is a “good thing” in their eyes so I have no idea what you mean.
Complete trait rework, a lot of UI changes, various currency reworks, skill/profession/stat changes, ascended armor/weapon recipes, condition changes PLUS new Lions Arch and who knows what else. Blog posts related to this update have sort of been mixed in with posts about stuff not coming out until Heart of Thorns (and in some cases it is unclear when certain things will be introduced), and it just seems odd it will include so many large changes but won’t be referred to as a Feature Pack like previously.

not really
many changes are because they feel they are necessary for the future of the game.
this is one of those things,
the primary reason for the change is to make a system that is more easily expandable for specializations, and to make it easier for them to balance.
on day one, most players, many of whom barely visit the forums, and dont really understand things till they see them themselves, will be faced with all their traits gone, many of them changed, a whole new system, its likely some may have to go out and get skill points.
in the long run, it may be usefull, but for awhile? i predict a lot of growing pains and uncomfortability.
for mant people change is not so good.
if im wrong im fine with that, but this is my prediction

All I asked was if the devs had a reason for not advertising it as a Feature Pack, with all last week being filled with blog posts about all of the changes. I wondered this simply because of the size and scope of the update and how they used that term in the past with updates of similar size and scope. It’s ultimately not an important distinction, I was only curious.
The reception of the update or anyones personal feelings towards it are irrelevant to this specific question.

you missed my point.
you only want to call something a feature if people are going to like it. Its bad marketing to do otherwise.

How about we stipulate that devs talking excitedly about this update and doing nearly ten hours of live streams about it, plus their general passion to create a game they want others to enjoy, means they have a good level of confidence in this update (regardless of player response after the fact).
Anyway, I’m quite excited for Tuesday. Aside for a few clearly wonky changes, I can’t wait to start trying out the new skills and spec system.

So… I was curious on the change for Necro’s Plague Elite.
As a condi Necro… I am confused by this. Adding a stack of bleed to yourself every 2 seconds is terrible. Considering the form has a 20 second duration, if you’re a Condi Necro specializing in bleed, including increased bleed durations, you will kill yourself long before 20 seconds have passed… Unless the damage from the bleed isn’t as ridiculous as I’m imagining it to be. Let’s not mention that you’ll likely be getting smacked while you’re doing this as well.
I feel like Plague Form is only useful in a condi build, unless you use it for blind spamming on different builds.
And yes… the change to Consume Conditions makes me sad.
On the plus, there are a few changes I am pleased about, like improved support role. I like being a team player.

The sheer ignorance displayed in the Necro changes is staggering.
Anet you should be deeply ashamed.
I feel very sorry for Necro mains who enjoy PVP.
Im not sure if someone said it before, but im not gonna read through 11 pages:
“Boon and Condition Conversion
…Skills which convert boons and conditions now randomly select from all boons and conditions on the target instead of taking the last applied.”
i dont get this change. people are crying for less rng and anet does the opposite. You basically remove skillplay from support-shout guards and necros (corrupt). before i could use burn to block an attack. now its rng if i romove the burn i just got or any other condi. Or i could remove the pindown from a player if i was quick enough before another condi hit him. now its total rng if he get the immob removed and survives or if he’s still immobed and dies..

Requesting the right value for Symbolic Avenger?
And if it is 10%, why???
@20% would be a good trait to use with mace/shield, since this weapon combination is lac-luster in mobility.
Well see, regarding consume condition:
Obviously necros are far too tanky and able to wreck people too easily with a heal that works best when you try to hold onto as many conditions as possible to maximize the heal you get. See this isn’t dangerous enough play for a necro so to make it more fair, they now get to clean the condi but ALSO have to deal with the additional condi after the fact in some other way while trying to also be viable in combat.
See, totes fair.
And TOTALLY sarcastic tone on my part in case you missed it.
This is a silly change Anet. Please don’t.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that necros and eles are going to get completely destroyed after this update with all the buffs to the other classes.
I feel class balance between medium and light armor will be in its worse state it has ever been.

I don’t think eles are going to be that bad post patch. They’ll be more or less the same. Necro will be so bad that they’ll get banned from hotjoin sPvP…

Yup with rangers and guard aplying vulnerability at range any one who tryes to get near will melt really fast after those jumpy dogdges.
Bunkers classes/builds are melting really fast in wvw if they try to pull trough.
Was excited for this and then found out, at least with my two chosen characters…nothings really changed at all. Same builds, same gear, same button presses, same same same. Guess I have to wait for HoT for that eh. /bored already
