My three main characters are:

Pistol/Pistol thief
Flamethrower engineer
Flame guardian

ALL THREE of those builds received major nerfs. Wow. Just wow.

I’ve lost any and all interest in continuing to play this game. I don’t want to put forth all the money/effort to completely rebuild ALL my characters with new armor and weapons and runes and sigils, and then learn new builds that I don’t want to play just because all the builds that I enjoyed got nerfed into the ground.

I have no idea why ArenaNet decided that nerfing a bunch of niche builds and decreasing playstyle diversity was a good thing,.

Why does shelter, the staple guardian heal, remain unaffected, while consume conditions, the Necro staple heal gets nerfed hard, without a reason, or without buffing the other heals?

Hello, dear developers.
I beg you to pay more attention to ranged weapons, especially that which is rarely used (that is not reason to forget about it, right?).
First, I want to note that the warrior’s rifle at the moment – the weakest ranged weapon of all existed in game. It is convenient, yes. But its DPS is negligible.
- One more +20% damage buff on Fierce Shot perhaps would correct the situation.
- Besides that Brutal Shot is not brutal at all. Maybe buff it too?

For the necromancer would be nice to think about the staff.
-Since you take away some of the bleeding from Mark of Blood, it may be worthwhile to add at least one bleeding on Nrecrotic Grasp?
- In addition, I want to note that it would be nice to lift the physical damage of Necrotic Grasp and Mark of Blood. Because at the moment necro’s staff can not fully perform the role of physical ranged weapon.

Do not ignore the complaints of thieves.
Dual pistols are really weak. They are good for the rapid destruction of targets in PvP, but after a few seconds of burst, they become quite dull.
- The problem would be corrected by simple DPS lift of Vital Shot AA, once again.
- In addition, the whining about ricochet removal is not groundless at all. This stuff is really important. I beg you to return it. Maybe even replace it by pierce on Unload?

So…10 pages…not going to read them all…but the lesson I think Anet is giving us based on the nerfs and damage done to necros is: “Don’t play a necro”. They totally messed up the skills “Consume Conditions” and “Spectral Walk” so much they are useless. And, to add insult to injury, some idiot thought it was a great idea to have that as a new Necro’s starting heal skill. Awesome job. On what magical planet does a heal skill make it so you’re totally squishy in a heated battle??

But in what way should a heal skill apply self-conditions? Do any other classes have this same issue? It’s a heal skill. One that will be used by new players, especially early on. So, most of these won’t have access to any of those skills that will mitigate the conditions.

Weapon skills appear pretty early. And at lower levels 10 vulnerability hardly will be able to have a strong effect on the thickest class in the game.
The only problem is in cooldown now. -33% trait will be available only on 51(?).

Perhaps. Just seems to be a change for change sake. Can’t fathom the rationale behind it. It’s not like it was overpowered or anything.

How did anyone think making Ranger Ambidexterity only apply to torch and dagger was a good idea? There was already very little reason to use offhand axe before, now you’re killing the cooldown reduction? One of the few good non-bow weapon CCs can no longer be justified taking over torch, dagger, or warhorn, and that’s not even considering the absurd cooldown of Whirling Defense. Zero axe-related traits. Well done.

But yes let’s increase the velocity of Longbow arrows by default because that needed a buff. Sigh.

Any word on ricochet for thieves? No one was complaining that P/P thieves were OP, please don’t nerf them.

Ricochet and Pistol Mastery. Both those traits are essential for making P/P thieves viable, especially in PvE. My gunslinger rocked the Silverwastes gunning down all those mordrem mobs. Ricochet also has really great synergy with Signet of Malice and Invigorating Precision, adding some much needed survivability given that you’re already sacrificing some mobility just by picking up dual pistols.

I worked really hard to make an effective, fun build for my main P/P thief. Seeing what’s going to happen to it after the patch is… just so depressing. REALLY kills my desire to play the game, especially ‘cause I’ve mained this gunslinger from the very beginning—it was my absolute favorite build.

For the Elementalist.

What happened with Earthen Blast in comparison to Sunspot (Earth 3 and Fire 3 On attunement swap)?

Sunspot gained an interesting buff while it used to deal an interesting amount of damage, it now gives 3 seconds of Fire Aura.
(In calculator: 464 damage; 5 targets; 180 radius Point Blank AoE)

Meanwhile, Earthen Blast remains untouched, no nice stuff attached to it. The cripple duration is still the same.
(In calculator, and same power: 189 damage; 3 targets; 240 radius PBAoE)

Why not give something nice to Earth when attuning? Would a Blast Finisher be too much? Or, a Dagger 2 cast (Ring of Earth). After all, a Fire Aura is pretty strong, it means they gain some stack of might, on top of some extra burning damage. Moreover, Sunspot and Earthen blast were near equivalents, but now, Earthen Blast seems to just have been forgotten.

Another forgotten Trait from the Elementalist.

Inscription. We have not been informed about the boons gained from casting a Glyph. Will it finally give 3 stacks of might when used on Fire Attunement instead of 1?

Look at the changes again pookie, as well as the clarifications. IIRC, Spectral WALK, the base “state” of the skill, cannot be activated in midair anymore. This was probably done more as a fix for abusing it’s ability to reset fall damage to 0. Spectral RECALL (what it shifts to after using spectral walk) remains untouched.

So, the use you have for it remains unchanged as the intent is probably to use spectral walk BEFORE you go off the edge.

Edited cause I found some more stuff that just kittenes me off.

Lets compare:

Contextual note of importance: Oh and btw, Vigor is receiving a completely unnecessary nerf from plus 100% endurance regeneration rate to plus 50% (if I understand that correctly). The new Thief Master Minor Acrobatics Trait Feline Grace: Gain 2 seconds of vigor upon successfully evading an attack. This effect has a a 1 second internal cooldown. Coupled that trait with the new Minor Grandmaster Acrobatics Trait Endless Stamina: The effects of vigor are enhanced by 50%. Not sure if that means +50% (i.e., plus 100%) or x1.5 (plus 75%) – either way it really doesn’t matter since 2 seconds of either only accessible on a successful evade blows hard.

vs.

Guardian Honor Minor Adept trait of Vigorus Precision: Gain 5 seconds of vigor when you deliver a critical hit. This effect has a 10 second internal cooldown. Plus the Guardian Honor Minor Grandmaster Trait Purity of Body: Your virtue of resolve passive effect also regenerates endurance by 15%.

OR

The old and new Ranger Minor Adept Trait "Natural Vigor: Increases your endurance regeneration by 20%.

So basically, a Guardian with the Honor Line or the Long/Bearbow Ranger with 1 adept minor trait can dodge as, if not more, often than a thief. And, apparently “rewarding skilled play” only means “rewarding skilled thief play.”

Any chance I could exchange the two fairly crappy Acrobatics master and grandmaster minor thief traits for the relatively decent Guardian Honor or Ranger adept minor traits? Serious question.

I fear they gave us a crappy version of Dagger Training instead since they conspicuously didn’t mention it. Do the math on that skill and you’ll see how bad it sucks compared to a plus 5% baseline. The poison -33% heal uptime isn’t even much given Lotus Strike is now 6 seconds of poison.

Its like they took most of the main builds for all classes, and threw them into the nerf pool ( granted some skills needed changed ) but some are beyond useless now, I wish when they did this sort of thing they would just remove it from the game full stop,

The timing of this update couldn’t be worse, they are nerfing peoples builds into the ground forcing them to play Anets way now, combined with the disaster that is currently going on over in the HOTs topic, its almost like they are going out of there way to cheese the playerbase off, all this at a time when some other big MMO’s are expanding there games also.

It’s their profanity filter being overaggressive. They’d clearly meant to type the words “mortar” and “damaging” there. I think the most common version is “that” and “its” being censored into “thakitten”, but it happens in all kinds of silly places – my personal favorite was the time someone referred to a recent Japanese nuclear reactor disaster, and the name was censored to “kittenushima”
