I really don’t see how being told you can’t do some content because your profession or gear is not good enough is going to make players happy. A filter that would block people based on their profession and gear, this isn’t a gear check game… Myself and Many players like it that way.

Couldn’t those meta elitist people you are talking about, form a guild or use their contacts list to form their parties? Or simply use the current features built in. Both options have their downsides, but a filter would be an immediate barrier to many. That’s why I just see it doing more harm then good. (especially if you start going to the gear check levels)

You see – I feel it would be better because with the filter in place if you don’t qualify you can’t even see the parties – so in a sense you don’t even know you’re not being allowed in those parties – you don’t even know they exist.

The alternative is joining and usually being insulted or simply being ridiculed or told off. Which is a lot worse than not seeing a party and thus not being able to join it.

It’s a case of – what you don’t know can’t hurt you.

Your argument of “those meta elitist players forming guilds and using contacts to make groups” can be turned around and I can say " can’t those non-meta play how you wants start making their own guilds and friends and not show up in meta runs anymore?"

The filter is an “immediate barrier” only if people know it is actively blocking something. But if you don’t perceive it as a barrier because you can’t even see the parties then you shouldn’t have a problem. You don’t even know if it is or is not blocking you – and having no way of knowing you can’t say for certain it is a barrier.

Before I should make my own filters maybe people should bother reading.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

I have a solution for those of you the want a class filter for LFG.

When GW2 first came out we didn’t have a LFG tool, because of this a website was created that worked as a LFG. I don’t remember the name of the website, but you would go there and find the group you wanted, whisper the party and get invited to the group. It worked rather well and could easily be adapted to what you are looking for.

You can name it GW2Elites.com or some such.

Bottom line is this will probably never be added to the game because it will divide the player base. What you do outside the game does not matter.

There is your solution. I’m sure you will complain that this solution requires an extra step and blah blah, woof woof, but if you really want this “feature”, there it is. I’m also sure you will say this discriminates the “elite” players, but if you don’t care about discriminating classes, why should I care about discriminating you?

Edit: Found the website http://gw2lfg.com/ Make and use something like that. Require some sort of registration and a listing of gear/stats/experience, so that people can be verified.

BOOM, done.

Why should people go to a website when the tool is already in the game and it only needs a bit of improvement? That website existed because of how poorly done was gw2 when it came out and it did not have a built-in lfg tool, which they corrected.

You are taking this discrimination thing way too far and it’s getting kittened. Nobody is bashing on casuals, in fact this would ensure that this sort of bashing does not take place in-game – this filter would actually help casuals not interact with people with different views than them and would remove a significant amount of drama. How is this concept so hard to wrap your heads around?!
