Leveling blow out, why?
Clarify please, no idea what you are talking about.

“When a character levels up, they are fully healed, they gain full adrenaline and life force, and they launch and damage all nearby foes.”
[SPQR]
It helps rarely, and hurts most of the time.
It can disrupt control of Defiant stacks, spread out the mobs you just neatly gathered, and makes things more frustrating to the group. Unlike weapon/kit based knockbacks, you can’t really control this AoE toss.
Because, you know, you’re leveling up so… it’s EPIC! /blowout :P
Seriously now, is it really THAT annoying for you? ^^"
Now it ‘hurts’ Lab farmers actually, especially when they are focussing on moneydoors and the bosses.
Once Halloween’s over, you won’t hear anyone complain about the blow anymore.

it was indeed only helpful in the first few weeks of gw2 when i was so much noob i was happy about any cc of enemies that gave me a few seconds
until i noticed that i get much less dmg from enemies if i can just kill them quick enough when they are all on 1 spot
but basically after that first time i never found the blowout useful anymore (maybe 1 in 100 situations …)
not even if you are about to die it’s useful since you get the fullheal anyway
an AOE STUN of enemies instead would be cool!
if anet changed that i would be happy
(but this would still sometimes screw up your perfect use of CC on bosses because of Defiant… but still better than the blowout!)

I just don’t understand the complaint…..I have never, ever, in 17 level 80s, thought “OMG this needs to be removed”…ever….
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
My experiences in the Labyrinth demonstrate how much this is not a problem: every so often (certainly less than once per door) a knockback happens from someone leveling up. Someone says “no knockbacks please.” I explain about this. At least one person every time says something like, “I’ve been playing the game for 2 years (or have 8 level 80s, etc) and never noticed that.”
If so many people don’t even notice it, I doubt it’s that much of a problem.
It is new then. Stun would work better.
ofc its nothing severe ofc..
just a minor thing that could be changed

Many other games give you full health (and MP) upon level up. I think Diablo was the same although I haven’t played it in over 10 years. The blowout is likely something special that they wanted.
Huh. I’ve never noticed this even after leveling 9 chars to 80 and who knows how many levels past this on each.
I’ll have to stand next to a Moa next time to see it. Teach it a lesson.

I tried to explain this many times in the Labyrinth too … they are pushed back a little but the effect seem to be greatly exaggerated if you level up right on top of a stack of mobs. It also don’t work everytime so i can understand why some player never noticed this before.
This push back effect was abused in WvW with Tome of Knowledges , when downed you could use the tome to push back your opponent , refill your health and rez yourself. Today they cannot be used while in combat.

the way experience is distributed, its fairly unlikely you level up while fighting is why.
It has been a cool side effect a few times for me.

Did anyone else envision a John Smith at a party, yelling “level up”, then suddenly the roomful of people are knocked back by a huge gas cloud of doom?
Maybe I was the only one. It made me smile though so thanks for that John.
Devs: Trait Challenge Issued
I thought the effect was cool the first time I saw it and it has had its uses on occasion, but the problem is, everybody notices it during lab farming and not in a good way. Cause those doors are designed almost perfectly, so that some guy is going to level up while killing mobs and not be paying attention enough to create some distance before the blast goes off.
*No innuendo intended.

I’ll try using that excuse the next time I have gas…..
One of my favorite parts of the game is the Level up blast.
I remember fighting someone 1v1 in WvW when a poor spider came between us.
It died and I downed my opponent with my level up blast. Very memorable moment haha.
I can honestly say I don’t ever recall giving or getting hit by a level up blast.

this is what happen when John Smith level up LOL :
I know I wanted to start the same thread, so I would argue that the need in the launch is indeed very debatable.
We’re doing daily Lab runs with our guild and we prefer to keep it clean and fast: stack, melt down, gather loot, move to next objective. Rangers spamming their skills and knockbacking and selfish people opening doors before everyone comes or pulling Lich and causing a wipe or lying dead and not waypointing are annoying enough to spoil the fun of a friendly, but efficient farm with some TeamSpeak chit-chat. Level-up knockbacks are yet another thing which spoils the fun in these and similar events; people’s poor skills are one thing – after all, everyone’s been a newbie once! – but the level-up knockback is something which can be easily eliminated.
If so many people don’t even notice it, I doubt it’s that much of a problem.
“So many people” didn’t know how to dodge that they had to put in a dodge tutorial. “So many people” were using 14-14-14-14-14 trait builds and never used traits that they had to revamp the trait system. “So many people” found the game so confusing at first levels that they dumbed it down.
And I remember a guy with full map completion and a legendary who asked us “What’s a sharpening stone?” during Crown Pavilion. So… Sorry, but ignorance is not an argument.
Once Halloween’s over, you won’t hear anyone complain about the blow anymore.
Any other zergfest with people leveling their alts will be this way.

I’m not sure if going to the bathroom is considered “leveling up”. It’ll definitely clear out a room though.
It is new then. Stun would work better.
Even better, they should BOW DOWN in the glorious presence of the level up.
Makes it easier to cave their heads in afterward.

This has actually been a minor frustration for me for a long time. I frequently solo supply camps in WvW by pulling the NPCs together and killing them with AoE attacks. If there are supply dolyaks in the camp, they usually die quickly, rewarding me with a burst of experience from their events. This causes a level up every once in a while, launching the remaining enemies, and usually giving the scouts (with their annoying blind fields) a chance to heal.

Are u “level 80” yet?
I’ve been playing since launch and this the first I’ve heard of this feature.

Not sure how, when the game first launched you were knocked down on level ups instead…
Interesting, never noticed this till I watched for it. Always thought it was someone else doing a CC attack.
Don’t have a problem with it and think it’s kind of original in a way. Curious now if it happens at level up if over 80.
Peace.

Yes, it happens every time a lvl 80 character earns another skill point.
Personally I always liked the feature.

I believe it doesn’t happen in WvW. Or PvP either ofc (you can level there if your daily takes you up a level).
Ok, so the level up is pretty annyoing when soloing a camp but I have to grin every time when the yaks fly through the air, so lets keep it =)
Edit: Oh and I accidently answered a question: Yeah it happens in wvw.
I heard accounts of people levelling other people off of cliffs in WvW, never seen it happen myself though.
Pull my finger – I’ll demonstrate a level up.
I love it, keep it as it is, thanks. Yes took me a while to notice, but it gives levels ups, just a little better sence of epicness.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
This is a problem in wvw. Sucks when you’re in a clutch group skrim and BOOM knocked flying by level up, entire fight lost. It’s never bugged me in pve but it’s an oversight to keep it in wvw, or have it work against other players at least.
It can be pretty annoying during tightly-stacked group fights.
