I don’t sit on either side of the fence on this decision, but it does strike me as odd that the new gem store light armor skins are retouches on human T3 light and I could get them on a Norn if I wanted. The other 2 skins are not based on racial armor. Curious as to why this decision was made.

I think when a Norn wears it its a fiery version of their T3.

No, it shows up as the human t3. You can preview them all now in the mists.

this move was really one of the biggest mistakes what anet have done.and why the hell they pick up the ugliest skins for medium and heavy?medium always trenchcoat we have enough from these kitten trenchcoates!

The biggest disappointment i ever felt in this game. I can’t believe they went through with something like that.

Why would Anet do this? The cultural skins should be EXCLUSIVE to their specific race. I’m disappointed in this release. Might as well let me buy the cultural armor from other races. Charr, Asura and Norn heavy armor please!

Looks like the “new” armor set just has a glowing fire effect to it. These are just the low level karma sets and I think its ridiculous we are getting reskins already.

This must be a joke patch. The real patch must be coming tomorrow. Especially with how the new fractal is related to the person in the living story that everybody LOVES!

Throwing fire all over an ugly medium armor trenchcoat that I never liked and am very much sick of due to lack of variety and being banned from pants/shirts… isn’t going to make me like it nor spend any money on it. You almost had the right idea though, I’ve often felt like burning all the Trenchcoats myself, but into dust~ not as an effect merger.

Um, one question. Why does light armor get a skin for tier 3, and medium and heavy get karma armor? Lol…

Yeah this is getting old… I have been playing this game since beta and I have always supported A-net and tried to play devil’s advocate for decisions that may not have been popular.

TA path getting blinked out from existence. Sucks, but whatever… my fractal levels being reset to 30 and the leaderboard fiasco. Again, sucks, but I’ll live. Pretty much everything to do with Scarlet. Now we are selling old skins that include one that is supposed to be the end-all of human armor skins? Come on A-net… that is disappointing. I’m having a really hard time trying to stick up for these decisions anymore.

Edit: Just remembered the craziness with the last armor sets released as well. Groan…

It’s obvious that they spent about half an hour on the medium and heavy sets, and only so they could keep up their trend of releasing gem store armors for all classes at the same time. It’s even more obvious that the light armor is a cash grab meant to sell by the truckload to non-human players who have admired our t3 armor since the beginning of the game (and for good reason), or poor humans who can’t afford the real thing (which is sadly now less impressive than the imposter).

This is extremely extremely poor taste and frustrating it was bad enough they mucked with progression but now we know cultural sets are no longer exclusive.

Wow disappointment would be a understatement more like disgusted with the game period.

It’s pretty shocking that they have done this. Out of all the light skins, they choose cultural armor.

They didn’t do this with the medium nor heavy. Wonder why they chose the light set.

This is just appalling….

Because medium and heavy only exist to exist. Anet doesn’t expect anyone to buy them. They DO expect all the sylvari, norn, and poor people in the game to buy a formerly exclusive armor (and one of the best looking in the game) with added bells and whistles.

saved you a bunch of gold and you get particle effects on top of that. Sounds to me that’s a much better deal

I paid around 117 gold for that nice skin 2 months ago and now your getting it with flames (would suit super nice to my ele) for around 67gold if you exchange for gems?

I’d like to know as well. I don’t have a light armour human so I don’t specifically care but I do understand the outrage. I’d be very unhappy to see any cultural Norn armour treated this way. Of any tier.

So when does my male human Ele get to wear Snapdragon (tier 3 sylvari light armor) or Savant (tier 3 Asura light armor) at a discount with some tacked-on effects?

I’d like a refund on my human t3, I paid 100 gold for armor that is now reskinned into the gem store with particle effects and has lost all prestige and uniqueness that it previously held. I’d like a dev response as to whether I will receive my refund and should go ahead and submit the ticket, thanks.

I forecast revamped legendary skins in the store for 800 gems. Another 400 gems for legendary stats

I truly hope you do get a refund. I was working toward my tier 3 human cultural armor but quit when I was about 82% of the way there. If I had purchased some of the cultural armor pieces, and Anet came up with the same skin in the gem store, I’d be in a flaming rage right now.

The whole point of cultural armor was that it was supposed to be unique – locked to a certain race.
If you’re going to re-skin and sell it – you’re ruining the whole point – might as well give us all of it so we can mix and match at will. Since it’ll probably happen anyway.

It is really sad – Cultural armor felt like something unique and important – related to the choices you made ( mind you – one of the few elements of this nature in the game) and now I can see the start of a slope that will eventually ruin this.

I get it that a profit has to be made – I get it that you need to sell skins – but for the love of all that’s good and nice – just make some new ones OR even better – bring back some GW1 skins ( we all know there’s been a million threads about that).Put some effort into it don’t just reskin other armor – and cultural armor at that.

Or gold in the armor itself. Can you believe how stupid people that have recently bought that armor must feel? 120g down the drain.

My ticket has been submitted and I laid out my acceptable terms as me deleting my cultural armor and being refunded either 99 gold (I didn’t have the helm) or 800 gems to buy the new skins. One or the other. Will let you guys know whether or not I hear back.

More whining after a mostly pve patch, A bit surprised only 2 have popped up now, maybe there will be 5 or 6 complain posts tomorrow

When does the day come that players understand that game content is virtual and not their property. Any company can change, delete, add or whatever their own Virtual Content at any time of the day. Users agreed to that as they signed up for the game or purchased it…
