This is the problem with “Free 2 Play” games… There is no real way to hold the company accountable.

Wanna know why wow survived as long as it has. Its cause it was P2P so basically any time the company did something to upset the player base… subs would drop money would stop coming in and they have to fix it.

Best example I can think of is when they alienated Warlock’s in the game by accidentally putting thought a update that erased warlock pet names. People where livid and Blizzard said we cant fix it… 2 weeks later thought it was fixed because subs started dropping.

But with Anet if they make a poor decesion Fractals/T3 Cultural rehash. The only backlash is people stop playing and save them money on bandwidth.

Saying that a company has the right to change, delete, add, or whatever their own Virtual Content is a far cry from saying it’s smart. Smart businesses don’t irritate their most dedicated customers.

and they can face the blowback. Throughout (recent, for sure) history there have been changes a company has had a right to make, which when deemed unfair to the user/customer, has received so much negative feedback the decision of the change was reversed.

There is a legitimate issue here, whether you are effected or not, whether you are willing to accept the actions or not.

TBH, I don’t have T3 armor, but if I did, I’d submit a ticket. They may laugh at 1 (they won’t because they are professionals and they have to understand how this makes their customer’s feel). They absolutely wouldn’t laugh at 10,000 people submitting tickets because they felt cheated.

120 gold is not enough, i bought the armor 1 year ago, according to the inflation, it should be 800 gold now!

I have argued this with a friend I don’t know how many times…. The TOS is a legal binding contract its true but on the same token a “JUDGE” one of those guys who decides whats legal and whats not. Has to deem it a legal contract in a court of law. Its completely possible for a “Legal” contract to be deemed non legal or inappropriate.

I am not a lawyer but its common since I would hope. Other wise companys could put in what ever they wanted and own everything u own.

Perhaps on the same day that companies desiring those players to continue spending money on their product(s) recognize that behavior, even if it is legal, which alienates the customer is not necessarily the best option for achieving their desire.

LOL!!! ANet, ANet, ANet. I feel bad for people who grind to get these T3 human light armor and needed to buy transmutation stones.

I’m half tempted to buy this armor set by buying gems with gold and put it on my human Necro. Partly to subvert the cash grab but at the expense of other people’s ire. It’s not like I will ever get the armor the hard way. Same reason why I will never have a legendary or ascended item. I just don’t care enough about this game to work that hard. But paying with virtual coin… why not?

I couldn’t care less about the price to be honest, it’s the principle. Cultural armor was/is meant to be exclusive to one race and one race only! Naming the “new” set “Flamekissed” doesn’t fool anyone; it’s still the same human T3 set, but it’s now available to all races.

That’s why I’m miffed.

It would have been fair had they released re-skins of all the other races’ T3 light armors. Heck, I’d love the idea of making my human male Ele wear the T3 sylvari armor for a more druid-like look. Or have him wear the asura T3 for a more modern look.

You mean like it did no good for people to ask for refunds on their unlimited harvesting tools when that was changed? Or how customer service ignores all of their tickets?

The way to hold Anet responsible is to stop supporting their game. Logging in, recommending/reviewing favorably, and shopping in the gem store all impact the game. If you think Anet doesn’t listen/help their customers, you are seriously impaired, or not paying attention.

I think selling the reskins is a terribly shabby and cheap treatment of the customers, but acting like they don’t do anything right is just wrong.

I want Zojjas armor. Don’t even rescale it. I will wear it as a bra and panties with a sweet Gauntlet and ridiculous ear coverings.

That said if they did make asura armors for humans at least it would take more work than pillaging the unique armors for humanoid races. Shame on Anet for taking something that signified a races unique background and giving it to everyone. Cause remember kids, when everyone’s special… no one is.

Throwing fire all over an ugly medium armor trenchcoat that I never liked and am very much sick of due to lack of variety and being banned from pants/shirts… isn’t going to make me like it nor spend any money on it. It’s obvious that they spent about half an hour on the medium and heavy sets, and only so they could keep up their trend of releasing gem store armors for all classes at the same time. It’s even more obvious that the light armor is a cash grab meant to sell by the truckload to non-human players who have admired our t3 armor since the beginning of the game (and for good reason), or poor humans who can’t afford the real thing (which is sadly now less impressive than the imposter).

The light is Human racial? In that case give my Sylvari Norn or Asura medium racial armor.

They want you to move from anger to acceptance faste… er… they want to consolidate feedback in one place to make it easier for the developers to see it.

The idea behind Cultural armor—that it’s exclusive to one race—has been done away with today. It’s frankly insulting in a game that values cosmetics and exclusivity as much as this one.

Let me preface by saying that I have the title “The Emperor,” those familiar with it know that this represents a large gold investment in cultural armor, all tiers and all races.

I LOVE that the the human T3 armor is available for other races now. I don’t care about nonsense like “Now my T3 armor has less prestige!” It was an armor set acquired entirely by gold, and it’s one of the most common in the game at the moment. There is zero prestige associated with it, it’s just there for your own visual pleasure.

Now you can get one of the most unique looking light sets in the game on any race! How is that bad? Where’s the problem?

My only problem now is that I’m obsessively focused on the possibility that more cultural sets will one day be available for other races, and I’m sure we’ll be getting no confirmation from the devs that this might happen, especially in light of this bewildering backlash.

Tell us if NCSoft is bullying you, so we can stay clear of their other products! loll

I’ve just come back to the game aswell, severely kitten ed off right now it’s unreal! Anet make good game, but a game like this where I buy gems to support them need to keep customers happy, and this…. well this is just the opposite, don’t think i’ll be buying anymore gems until Anet give us some answers for this absurd strategy

It’s obvious what’s going on, really.

They decided to add gemstore armor. They looked through existing armor, picked some of them out, both light, medium, and heavy, and worked on them some to add fire effects.

No one of that team knew that this was the Cultural armor for Humans and just continued with it.

And this is freakin lazy, really. Not even new armors.

And this is supposed to stand up against new coming MMOs?

It comes across as a cash grab, with little thought or effort. That is what a lot of people are upset about.

I wouldn’t mind if every cultural armor set had a differently skinned counterpart available to all races, actually I encourage this.
They’re the same models with different skins. Try looking at them as if they were of different brands, like a normal jacket and an Armani jacket.

Agree with the OP, this is rediculous.

By basically retouching human T3 and putting it up for sale, they have:

1) Insulted every player that worked hard to afford human T3 by making it available for gems

2) Insulted every player that worked hard to afford human T3 by making a just-slighty cooler looking version – that will cost them $10

3) Insulted every player that rolled a human just to have good looking cultural armor

Whats next, for 1600 gems we can buy other races elite skills? SNOW LEOPARD FOR EVERYONE!

Make good looking armors Anet, but keep exclusives exclusive. This was a terrible idea. I’ve been disappointed with class changes in every game (being mad about class balance is part of every game); but this is the first time i felt like a company spit on a players hard work and racial choices.

Yep, this is really just bringing to light anet attitudes towards the gem store and players that has been there all along. They want players to buy gems they will do anything to keep that revenue stream coming in. Can anyone doubt that a company that does this would not also change game mechanics so that people will buy more gems.

not everyone has as much gold as you… It IS a prestige object for a lot of players and if you saved your gold until you finally hit the 120g mark and now you get it for half the price with an extra effect, you’ll feel screwed over.
