[Merged] Cultural Human T3 Not Exclusive
I am Charr and I use MEDIUM armour. Every time there is release of NEW armour I hope for something that is
Good looking
NOT clipping with the intire me
NOT Another coat that hides half of me under a tent
This time I gott ALL of this in one single armour!!!
When will there be one more good looking MEDIUM armour introduced – that will fit CHARR???
^This. If they think 800 gems and reverting the armor back to its original skin (the very first skin used) is enough compensation for this whole fiasco, they better think again. A debacle as big as this cannot be satiated by that alone. In fact, that’ll only introduce another outrage.
Then again, there are people who believe it serves us right. Look what someone answered me on another thread. Priceless really.
…The answer by the community to the release of the Flamekissed armour was almost unanimous – hence the response from ANet that must have happened. In-game chat, forum chat, reddit, literally everywhere the community objections were present.
If you then went on to craft new objects in order to match the new looks – let’s face it, it is your own mistake. The mistake on ANet’s part to release this skin was like a “bug” of the game that should not have happened in the first place. The gem refund is all that you deserve, really. If you start being reasonable, it is anything but priceless, really. Just think it over. You will arrive at the same conclusion.
So you actually believe that people who lost their previous skin (which can be expensive, T3 and gem store set I look at you) and will only be refunded gems is fair? I mean you really believe this? For a mistake on Anet’s part? Some people are losing money here, some are losing a lot of gold here and you find it normal? And you tell me to be reasonable? LOL sure.
This. Unfortunately, Arenanet is just following what the community asks for. It’s not the company’s problem, trying to please the customers, the problem is that the customers are… well, don’t get me started.
The real problem is a minor section of the community cried and now another section of the community is starting to find out about it but only after Anet sided with the prior.
How do you call that a minority? Have you actually been around forums and other sites? It’s safe to say this was a majority of the player base.

I said it once in this topic i think and i’ll say it again. Don’t assume players who use forums are the only one that didn’t like this crap. There are a lot of players in game, who don’t use forums or don’t post on it and they too didn’t like this armor bussines!
EDIT: A lot of players in gw2 are casuals and a lot of them don’t use forum, they don’t like forums in general (because let’s face it, a lot of gaming forums can be quite messy), or they just don’t care enough to go post on it if they don’t like something.
I’m no hardcore myself either, but i do read forums and i’ll take those few minutes to express my opinion if i like or don’t like something.
And to the poster you quote: Why they shouldn’t listen to playerbase? Even among some QQ topics, there are many topics and posts with absolutely lovely and acceptable ideas that players cam up with them and would improve game.
But if you think developers ignoring their players is good idea, then you should visit some other forums where games died because devs didn’t give a **** about anything but their own thing – earning as much money as possible. i’ll give you one example APB:Reloaded.

Everyone is Heck Bent on only seeing their point of view. People like me that already had T3 got this new skin under false assumption we could keep it.. Now I like many are now going to be more afraid to make a purchase in game cause if people dont like that its on the gemstore we can have it easily taken away… For me the Gemstore has now lost all Credibility. Why buy from a place thats gonna swindle ya in the end…. Sike .. you thought you was buying what you looked at but NO we change stuff on ya… its how we conduct a great business with our loyal Customers. They dont see this kind of crap pushes people to gold sellers and such and underminds all they are trying to create
Hmmm
since it appears customer service is about to make totally bone-headed move that will certainly lose them customers, it might be a really good idea to get hold of reps like Regina and Gaile (are those the right ones?) right NOW before this nonsense occurs. Maybe there is still time to head it off at the pass and to find a sensible solution that isn’t totally stupid.
That assumes the new armor isn’t just a tweaked mesh that isn’t a 1:1 of HT3 or a whole new armor in the same skimpy, belly dancer style. Anet was boneheaded enough to start this whole mess but they likely saw how many bought it and will try to keep the new mesh as close as they can to not only keep people happy but also to keep selling the armor.
People keep thinking it will be pug fugly and not at all the same when there is no reason for a for profit company to do something like that.
If you read the threads, you’ll see that there is a push among supporters of taking the current armor away to replace it with something not only different than T3, but something worse as well.
Having given those people what they want, having shown no inclination to even consider what those that purchased and like the Flamekissed armor want, and having not said anything to the contrary, it isn’t really unreasonable for people who are having their armor replaced against their will to be expecting the worst.
Granted, they said new art, which doesn’t even necessarily require a different mesh, as it could just be the skin over the mesh that they’re talking about.
But that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t do something like cover more skin or have a mask or helm that covers face and/or hair, effectively ruining what makes it look so good on norn and sylvari now – the ability to see hair, skin color, eye color, glows and tattoos – which combined with the flames lets people create some fantastic looks. Taking away any of those things effectively makes the armor an unsuitable replacement for people who like it for those reasons regardless of how nice it otherwise is.
Simply changing the length and cut of the skirt preventing people from seeing the flaming and decorative boots as they run is a big downgrade.
Anet wouldn’t do that (I hope, I’ll assume they are at least that competent)
They intentionally used the mesh/texture with no alteration besides the flame effect and we called them out on it. They pulled an xbox and 180’d so hard it threw off the earth’s rotation a little.
Now they have three choices.
1. They can make a brand new armor, in a completely different style kitten ing off the people who spent money and risk lowering the revenue from the armor if everyone hates it.
2. They can put it on the next best armor, for female anyway, which is probably Winged with maybe a different helmet and shoulders from other sets to get it as close as possible.
3. Take the T3 mesh and tweak the metal parts so they have a different mesh. Maybe something more fire shaped rather than the abstract blobs it has now.
None will make everyone happy but everyone assumes they will do #1 when it’s the least sound idea economically and public relations-wise.
I’d say it’s a toss up between 2 and 3 with 3 possibly more likely since their post made it sound like we were angry that it looked too similar rather than it’s the same exact armor so they may just try to tweak it a bit in an attempt to please as many people as possible.

Before putting posts like this, stay informed. ANet, in their official response, stated that the support team will answer ALL the personal scenarios with regards to the acquistion of the skin. Instead of starting a mess, await the solution they propose to some personal cases. And yes, that’s part of being reasonable.

Yeah it’s all nice and all but some people in this very thread have contacted the customer support who said otherwise so who are we supposed to believe now? The one who we are supposed to contact and deal with to be compensated or a forum post explaining how they didn’t see the new armor looked so much like the T3 one because it wasn’t obvious enough for their art team? Bait and switch at its finest and yet there are still people who tell you things like it serves us right for buying it. Amazing really.
Hey Corpus Christi.2057!
Can I hire your massive community of exclusivity cry babies to get Anet to fix the ranger pet issues??
With your clout, Anet will delete the pet and have a new version up in no time …
Y’all just jelly because we QQ harder than you.
Gotta get used to the minorities, that’s ok!^^

Love my armor….and i would love to see solution just like many others that dont have me losing my old T3 and then losing my New T3 to some lame thrown together creation to just hurry and please people. Sometimes its best not do it if you can do it right. Please stop with the harm to ur beautiful piece of artwork Anet.. Fingers Crossed!!!!

That would be the optimal choice. Remains to be seen if Anet will do it or if it can even be done. When you transmuted it you copied over the skin data from the T3 with the flame kissed skin data so even a splitter won’t save you. It sounds like the kind of problem that would require direct staff intervention to fix. I’m sure if enough people make a similar case then anet will come up with something since T3 is significantly more expensive than the other armors in the game.

One post here ( part of it, can’t find the rest, sorry ):
The thing is, we can’t make it an either/or situation, and the devs feel that the best course is to change the armor. It would be nice to say “Change if you want” but that’s not feasible. So the Flamekissed Armor Skin will be reworked. And when it is, you guys are welcome to share your thoughts and to let Customer Support know what they can do for you. (No, “a new car and a couple of free pizzas” isn’t going to be on the table. )
I understand this is sort of a hot topic right now, but again, there’s nothing to lose by waiting for a look-see at the new armor set, and there may be something to gain! It’s certainly what I would do and I encourage you to think of doing the same.
And one post here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Flamekissed-Armor-Skin/first#post327522

You can buy a legendary from a gemstore.. Just pay for gems and trade.. I think that kind of commentary it isnt good for the whole mess we have here
Yes and if you say anything that even targets that said group in anyway anet will delete your post and give you warning so becareful what you say mods are watching this thread like crazy! things like QQers/Whiners may not be ok… someone may QQ or Whine about it! :-)
So true…. Its just a shame they couldn’t wait for the votes to get tallied in a game that houses millions when a mere handful sheds a tear.
Oh, let’s be honest there. Both groups are a tiny minority. Majority of players neither have a cultural set, nor bought (or intended to buy) Flamekissed version. If we’re going to be pedantic, most likely the majority of gw2 players don’t even play the game anymore (i’d be surprised if there’s more than a million of active accounts at the moment, and even there i’m being generous).
So, the case already concerns only “a minor section of the community”. And both sides are equally good at crying.
Also, voting would be useless. I honestly doubt that Anet has resources to introduce 14 more cultural reskins (20, if we consider the fact that female versions of charr and asura armor sets would need to be made from scratch. Even more when counting all those armor that would need to be redone for charr). Since they couldn’t introduce all cultural armor reskins to the gem shop, the only(1) sensible option was to remove the one already available.
While i’d really like them making alll culturals widely available, i just don’t see it happening, considering that they already have big problems in generating content.
(1) Well, they could also remove racial restrictions on culturals, but it would still require them to do charr versions of other armor, non-charr versions of charr armor, and female versions of charr/asura. That’s still a lot of work.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

i know right… buy gems, convert gems to gold, buy legendary… but do that with cultural t3 armor and …………..insta crucify!
Satisfied with this answer. Keep cultural armour cultural or don’t have cultural armour at all.

Because there is a gemstore legendary for 1/3 the gem2gold conversion price of a regular legendary?
Getting HT3 with gems2gold costs ~$35. That’s 3 times the cost of flamekissed which was the exact same armor with fire effects. They didn’t even alter the base texture in any meaningful way.
LOL sure.
Before putting posts like this, stay informed. ANet, in their official response, stated that the support team will answer ALL the personal scenarios with regards to the acquistion of the skin. Instead of starting a mess, await the solution they propose to some personal cases. And yes, that’s part of being reasonable.
Best regards
Yeah it’s all nice and all but some people in this very thread have contacted the customer support who said otherwise so who are we supposed to believe now? The one who we are supposed to contact and deal with to be compensated or a forum post explaining how they didn’t see the new armor looked so much like the T3 one because it wasn’t obvious enough for their art team? Bait and switch at its finest and yet there are still people who tell you things like it serves us right for buying it. Amazing really.
Just be patient. If you do not like their solution, they also stated they would consider new ideas for the solution of the problem. Just stay tuned.

Mabe another (Ooops We messed up) NPC like the one for gathering tools exchange, in the black lion that you can walk up with your unequiped armor and change it back to its previous state.. Like get my old T3 Back in exchange for my flameCloneT3. NPC changes armor back.. gives me my 800 gems back and we both are happy.. NPC has a job.. I have my old gear back… or can that be done ?
That would be the optimal choice. Remains to be seen if Anet will do it or if it can even be done. When you transmuted it you copied over the skin data from the T3 with the flame kissed skin data so even a splitter won’t save you. It sounds like the kind of problem that would require direct staff intervention to fix. I’m sure if enough people make a similar case then anet will come up with something since T3 is significantly more expensive than the other armors in the game.
I’m pretty sure, since it’s become such a great issue now, they will do their utmost to address all the cases people will present them with.

Not only people with the T3 set were upset. It was also a lot of people who own a cultural set, no matter the race or set. How does that sound like a minority to you?
I think some of you dont understant that the biggest problem here is not the simple set removing.. Guys like me payed a lot € and invested too much on account for Flamekiss. And now we dont know (we know) if anet will give
me 40€ and t6 mats that i sold to finish “project flame thing” on my account.
Im not crying because of the removal, im crying because i spend real Money, maybe my wife was right when she said i was stupid for spend money in a game and i said " look honey its worth, so beautiful" guess she was right
I think it’s good that they’re doing away with this welfare cultural. They can reintroduce the skin later as an upgrade to existing T3 in the mystic forge. A piece of T3, 250 flame legion charr carvings, 10 destroyer lodestones, 10 molten lodestones to upgrade it to the flame version seems reasonable.
we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable

Where do you get the fact that being a minority means you have no rights?
I find this idea quite uncivilized…
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Just like in the initial case, if there is enough people to voice their opinion, they will mostly likely asnwer you. Just keep trying.
But, to be honest with you, just like someone said above – this initial issue was so discussed I can’t really understand people who would buy it, not to mention changing the appearance of a 120 g-worthy armour? The cheaper method would be to craft the new one with the same stats/buy it from TP, the basic exotic skins/get it for dungeon tokens and then apply the gem skin? It wouldn’t even cost half the price of the original T3. Seriously, sometimes I’m just wondering what these peeps are doing…

This entire situation is an outrage. Both the creation and release, and the proposed solution are extremely unprofessional. By so blatantly re-skinning — there is no way this is an oversight — a unique item, Arena Net degraded the value of the item, and in turn devalued the time of original consumers of T3 Human armor. The consumers work and time for a unique item was now wasted, destroyed by Arena Net’s decision. Any opportunities they missed to acquire this armor are now forever gone.
Arena Net saw the harm this caused, and responded, but their offered solution is far from correct. They offer an unknown remake of the skin to the consumers, or a refund on the purchase. This solution takes no account of the work or time any consumer spent to integrate the skin to his/her character. Without knowing what the updated version will be, any consumer’s resources spent to obtain this form of the skin are devalued; as they can only act in concerns to what they know, their current skin. All time is valuable, in more than a monetary sense. The other opportunities that were bypassed to work for the skin/gems/items to go with the skin and the investments (whether intellectual/monetary/etc.) are lost with this solution. This especially affects the uninformed consumers, who are still out there working to acquire items to go with the Flamekissed skin. All of the time they spend becomes nothing with the update of the skin. The refund option does not credit consumers for any time that has been wasted, only crediting the sole purchase.
In short, Arena Net is rectifying devaluation of one party by devaluing another party. They created a devaluation of human T3 consumers by removing the unique aspect of the armor, thus the work and time of many T3 consumers is devalued and lost. The solution they present, to revalue T3 users, creates a devaluation of the Flamekissed consumer, in a very similar way to the T3 party’s devaluation. Any work or time the Flamekissed consumers invested is now lost.
No company should, in any form, devalue its consumers. To correct this wrong, Arena Net needs realize the value of both parties of consumers. First, the skin must be removed from sale, and be reworked, to prevent the continued devaluation of T3 users. This has been done, and was a correct decision. Next, any consumer who purchased the Flamekissed skin needs to be allowed the option to keep the current version. This takes into account the work and time they spent to acquire it and adapt to it, thus respecting their invested time.
For those who purchased the T3 Human skin, their armor will remain slightly devalued, an unfortunate outcome of a poor decision made by Arena Net. No solution will completely rectify this wrong, but the current proposed solution only harms the entirety of another party. Arena Net needs to take responsibility concerning this substandard decision and their devaluation of one party, and not in-turn devalue another.
Extremely well said. Both parties have worked for the items – whether earning money in the real world, or earning gold in game – in addition to the time spent on obtaining the items and modifying their appearance, etc. They clearly underestimated the attachment some players have to the exclusivity of cultural armor, despite it belonging to the most played race in the game. Perhaps this would have led to updated armor sets from other cultural tiers? No less, Arenanet made the blunder and the players reacted.
By devaluing those who purchased the gemstore armor, Arenanet undermines the consumer confidence in those they depend on to financially support the game. By devaluing those who feel attached to the exclusivity of their T3 armor, they risk the satisfaction of a portion of their playerbase. There is no solution in this circumstance that will make everyone happy, and other games who have fallen into very similar blunders have made the move to allow the original to remain for those who purchased the original (like the flamekissed) set, and from that point on only offered the redesigned set for future purchases. This would be a better solution, as it doesn’t undermine consumer confidence, it doesn’t leave consumers who made additional purchases/investments in the lurch even with refunds, it pleases those who do not want modified reskins of a cultural tier set in the gemstore, and it prevents Arenanet from taking a loss with the ensuing refunds if their replacement set is not satisfactory.

You are wrong at the very basis of your statement.
To begin with, the only representative part of the community is that which is active both in game and on the official forums. No one will force anyone to take active part. It is up to the interested parties to share their views, opinions and ideas. If the rest does not take part in the discussion on the official forums or in the game ( with whatever their motives may be ), then it is more than obvious they should not have anything to say with regards to some “minority crying”.
What is more, having in mind the above, it is a total mistake to say only a “minority cried”. The response was almost unanimous, and it is evidenced in the numerous topics, even the threads that included both sides of the argument were overwhelmed with the “dissatisfied” people. Hence, de facto, the majority “cried”, as you ironically stated.
Not to mention that ANet did admit that it was not the best idea to introduce a skin that is a “refined” version of a cultural armour, which in turned has been underlined on numerous occasions to be exclusive to appropriate races of Tyria. Therefore, it was, de facto, not a “cry” but a correct response on the overwhelming majority of the community.
To sum it up, you have no point here and posting such disrespectful and half-baked messages is wrong. Reconsider your behaviour before you ironically offend the majority that voices their opinions. Thanks.
There are a number of irregularities in the above post.
1) One need not be active on the forums in order to be a representative part of the community. Logging in to happily play, choosing to spend money on gems in order to purchase a new(ish) armor skin, and so on are all means of expressing an opinion on the game, its current state, and its direction.
2) The claim that the response was almost unanimous in opposition to the new skin is an assumption and so poorly supported by facts as to indicate a serious bias. If 100 people complained but 1000 bought the gem store armor and went back to playing the game then the majority of responses would be in favor of the new skin. Then again if 5,000 people saw the new skin an uninstalled and went on with their lives without posting their opinion on any game forums we would be back to the majority response being negative. We just do not know.
3) Game forums and the like tend to draw those with a gripe. People that are happy with the current direction of a game, the decisions of the developers, etc tend to remain in game playing. They express their opinion of the game by spending money on the game and/or spending time in it. As a result forums, particularly in general discussion sections, tend to be biased toward the negative. This does not mean that they represent a majority of the community unless the argument is that the player base is so very small that a few dozen (at most) individuals comprise more than 50%.
I think they should go further then just the T3, but that is what the maincomplain is about, right?
Well, to be honest. i do not know what the “flamekissed” armor should look like, aside from burning.
Simply because we have no background fort hat kind of armor. It just popped out of nowhere.
Aside from fire, this armor has no theme or i might even say purpose in the game, aside from getting money.
While i could say give us a riddler suite, but exchanging the questionmarks with dollar signs, i hope they will create at least a fitting “flaming” armor for the light armor faction.
While i would like to see the phoenix armor in flames, so that everyone seeing “Catching Fire” can have their Katniss going on, i think a more subdued simple design, which is breaking appart by the fire would actually look great.
For male:
- a t-shirt, with a vest, fire outlining the the latter.
- simple, embroided gloves, with burning chains hanging around
- simple pants, but with burning chains dangling down as belts
- Some nice fitting pair of boots
- NO MASK… but how about a refitted GW1/Elementalist starter, Fire enchantment flying around the head. Maybe a triplicate fire design, swirling around
(i think i channeled the ghostrider a bit here)
For female.. it is a bit harder… i have to think
Change the other two too. They are AWFUL. T3 was the nice one. Give them all UNIQUE looks. I was exited when I heard the name then to see it was a reskinned version of an armor I hate.
Just an opinion I guess but I feel like they all need more attention rather than just added flames.

I’ve been making this argument all night. Apparently it’s not just about the fact it’s a re-skin, but it’s about popularity too. Since the other two skins sets aren’t as popular, nobody’s got a complaint about them, even if they’re re-skins.

Yea – that’s the reason why they reskin the T3- cultural one. It’s indeed not fair but the other two armor sets are ugly as ****. They should be just unique armor or even better: A very very expensive colour for any armor.

Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
I have bought this new armor and I really like it on my norn. If you ask me. remodel all cultural sets an bring them in shop, we need more armor variety.
And if I’m not satisfied with new looks and I ask for a refund will my armor be changed to default skin (I had different skins transmuted before I applied this flamekissed skin) ?

reskin it to something like this
http://img90.xooimage.com/files/0/5/7/tissus-femme-3b7bf78.jpg
only with the flames and lava etcPlease, no. The T3/Flamekissed armor covers less skin, and has an interesting design. What you’ve linked is a modest dress. I mean no offense to your tastes, but it’s just not nearly as appealing. This game lacks skimpy armor, even for light armor classes – Masquerade is fine, but the skirt is huge. Feathered also has an unflattering silhouette in the skirt. The sylvari snapdragon set is gorg, but unavailable to other races (I would not be upset about that being reskinned in the TP either, and I have two sets each of snapdragon and orchid). The winged set has a lame hood, kitschy wings and the skirt seems too filmy. The conjurer set has those silly pants and bell sleeves. Other than that, the only light armor, skimpy option is the Phoenix set from the gemstore. Even then, it’s pretty modest. The Human T3 is the sexiest gear in the game, thus, they need to make something comparable without any of the aforementioned faux pas. (Maybe get a female design consultant? Ha!)
So.. Should I be upset over the TA Nightmare set looking too much like my T3 Sylvari cultural armor? And the TA light set looking too much like the T2 Sylvari cultural armor?
Maybe they could make an armor set from components taken from several different sets then? I have seen plenty of good mix and match armor.

This will be the best solution for everyone
There is a whole lot of misinterpretation in the above post:
1) By simple analogy, a representative part of the community that during the election for new President/government etc. is the one that actively takes part in the election, i.e. gives a vote. Your argument collapses since, if the one wants to voice their opinion with regards to some “actions”, he needs to act. Insufficient action would be that of passive acceptance, i.e. he bought the skin. The official website/forum is the place that is meant by the producers of the game to be the place where all the information regarding the game is published. Being in the game only does not guarantee you will learn everything concerning the game. A simple latin proverb describes the reasoning: ignorantia legis neminem excusat. It means: if you enter a game and are unaware of what happens within the body that describes the regulations of the game ( the website/forum where all the official updates are published, e.g. regarding the new armor , and you fail to comply therewith, you are breaking the law/rules.
2) Your mistake here flows from the first mistake that you made above, i.e. understanding the idea of active participation and following the official updates by the game producers. Another mistake is to deny the credibility of the only evidence we could use here. The evidence as given by the active participants of the community ( as explained above ) is the evidence one ought to not dub as “biased”. People who actually bother to voice their opinions on the official forums, and are heard, cannot be described as lacking credibility. Yes, they present their own opinions which it is difficult to measure ( the point you touch upon ), nevertheless, since they have been answered and admitted their relevance by the authorities ( ANet ), it is even more difficult to dub them irrelevant.
3) Look at 2) above. One point to be made here only. It is not only the people with “the gripe”. It is the people who want to take part in the game creation, bug-fixing, posting their ideas thereof etc. etc. Thus, it is wrong to assume that majority of them is biased towards the negative.
Nothing much, really. You simply misinterpreted most of what I have said.
This is the solution that sounds fair. I think it should be reposted to ANet for consideration.

Not a good solution because then we will still have a few players who will run around in sets that are only meant for humans. Also we will have more players whining because they can’t obtain it anymore while other people have it just because they where “lucky”.
Creating an ultra rare armor set only available to the few thousand who bought it before being pulled from the TP does not seem the most fair or solve the issue of human cultural being made available to other races for 1/3 the price.
ANet goofed. Flamekissed is getting nerf. It happens.
we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable
but balanced. For now, we do not expect it to see serious use.” – ANet
(Flame) + (Kissed) … now call me a nitpick but the name does suggest exactly what you guys get. At least the name is not misleading. I don’t know what’s the fuss about it. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it

Ok lets say they change looks for those who bought it. If I dont like it, I want my armor back in same state as it was on the day I applied your skin. I have even transmuted some norn cultural and other (already transmuted) armors. We will end up losing 50+ gold and some skins for supporting this game and purchasing in shop.
