my experiences thus far:
mostly great, the tool works well and the only issues I have had is with some of the players themselves.
I also liked the fact that ‘LFG System Abuse’ is now listed in the report feature as I have found instances of small guild groups doing a dungeon with random players, getting the last boss to 10% health, kicking all the non guilded group and advertising a post on the LFG tool selling the path to people. If Anet could find a way of keeping track of who you have grouped with then this would deter people doing this in the future.
Other than that I like it.
You have an implicit obligation to teach people. I’m not going to enforce that but you should be thankful that other people were not kittens like you when you first learned a dungeon.
I don’t know, it’s so ambiguous. But what stops the newbies from figuring the tactics by themselves, from forming newbie-only parties?
I may be old school, but isn’t it the proper way of learning dungeons? People that did dungeons in September 2012 (myself included) had no one to teach them, the builds nor party compositions were not optimal back then. Now the newbies have cookie-cutter builds, detailed guides and videos to help them. Dungeons in GW2 are easy compared to WoW/WoW clones – it all comes down to knowledge of game mechanics, class mechanics and some common sense.
Has the laziness and unwillingness to make any effort amongst GW2 masses gone so far that now the only way of learning new things is leeching them off from someone experienced?

What are you talking about Konrad?
You are NOT old-skool. Old-skool knows perfectly well that knew players are ALWAYS taught the dungeon by older players, except the very first handful of people into the game.
The dungeons are not easy compared to WoW, either’s that’s pure nonsense. They’re not harder, either, but unless you are totally awful at WoW, I mean mind-blowingly bad at it, there is no way they are easier. WoW dungeons are very, very easy, Konrad. Very.
I’ve been giving the LFG a workout over the last few days and so far so good.
My favorite unexpected use for it is World Events, I’ve both joined in and created listings for world bosses with excellent results. Even rolled a party straight into a TA run afterwards.
Parties form practically instantly, really highlights the strength of no trinity combat. Love that we have this ingame now.
Your comforting play comes at the cost of others not being able to play at all.
They wouldn’t play with me at all anyway because I don’t hesitate from kicking 60% of my party. So scrubbies will be angry and I will be angry. How’s fixing that not improving a comfort of play?
I learned as a kid that if all others are the problem, the solution can be found in fixing myself. If you feel the need to kick 60% of a group, _you_’re the problem, not those others.

Indeed, it makes people getting together even easier.

And that’s why we need filters. Filthy scums like me would play with each others and people I kick with each others. At least now you get to this point.
I’m not going to waste my precious time I could spend on cleansing zhaitan’s influence in orr to get those dragonite ores on people unable to think because they spent too much time on that cleansing.
You have an implicit obligation to teach people.
You are going to the other extreme end of this debate. Nobody owes teaching to anyone. Best you can ask for is that everyone works as a team.
Where “work as a team” doesn’t mean taking orders from the “experienced” guy who thinks his way is “best”, but rather figuring out ways to do something together. That way even if you wipe, you still have fun doing the dungeon, as opposed to merely being a sidekick to an elitist farming his gold.

Conversely, having someone who has never done a Fractal insist he melee’s the Lava Shaman is just frustrating.
Please… REMOVE REQUIREMENT OF EACH PARTY MEMBER BEING IN DUNGEON ZONE TO BE ABLE TO ENTER IT.
That’s all.

I understand that some dungeon runs can be frustrating.
However, no lfg tool will ever solve that. The filters people suggest don’t do that either, they are minimally effective.
The tool currently does exactly what it’s supposed to do. There is no “chance”, no “minimally effective” options. It works 100% for what it was made for.
So I’ve tried using the LFG tool a couple different times now, and every time I never see any groups posted. Like ever. It seems like I’m the only one using it. Is this a glitch or are very few people actually using it at all? Cuz if this is the level of participation we can expect out of the LFG tool, then I’d have to say it’s already a fail.
It doesn’t go far enough.
Needs a general category. I want to post for like Temple groups etc, the living world category doesn’t seem to be there for that but for like SAB and such. No one seems to use the LW category, maybe just make it a general category for everything else.
Joined one party today through LFG, it either got disbanded or I got kicked before we even entered the instance and then I got told that I’d joined too many parties

Maybe your past actions caught up with you.

Not really.
To give you an accurate example, I’ve spent my previous 2 years of MMO gaming in a WoW clone. Classic gear treadmill, holy trinity, new dungeon every 3-5 months. It took anywhere between 1-4 weeks of trial and error to figure the tactics. The competition amongst top guilds was so intense that none posted any guides until we had all of our members geared, which usually took 1-2 months. Well, even some trash pulls were more challenging than most of GW2 bosses..
So as you can see, sometimes players have to make some effort.

my past actions of what?
How are they scrubs? Do you know what scrub means? You used this word before, and you used it incorrectly.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=scrub
A scrub is a now generalized term used as a synonym for a “noob” or “newb,” which is someone who is bad at a video game or activity in general
Elitists are bad at the game, because such behaviour comes at the cost of fun, and frankly at the cost of the game being a game. Noob is in the eye of the beholder, so is scrub.
Furthermore, in my 2 decade experience as a videogamer, there’s a high correlation between people who insist on optimal but unfun strategies such as farming and speedclearing, and how bad they actually are at the game itself. That’s my personal experience though, the better you claim to are, the worse you actually are.
If you really need an optimal group composition to beat the content, chances are you can’t play your profession.
Don’t be silly, of course you can have fun in a game and be elite. They are not mutually exclusive. Being good at something doesn’t mean that doing it is inherently less fun. Do you think the people that were going for the fastest runs in the world of a dungeon weren’t having fun? I don’t know for sure, but I would think they were having fun while being elite. Many professional gamers say they still have fun playing their games… so unless you think they are all liars…
Some strategies require people to have certain gear as well. It’s not just they need to have XYZ gear and without it they are bad. They don’t need to use those strategies, but it’s how they choose to play the game because it works efficiently.
Others have more fun without having to explain every fight and then have the fight take longer. This doesn’t mean they are bad players either.
I have fun with both types myself. A nice smooth run can be just as much fun as one with people in greens. For me it’s mostly about who is there and what sillyness goes on in the party chat. That has nothing to do with elite/casual.

Elitist is not a person who insists on playing typical faceroll composition.
Hi all this tool get my nerves many times the annoying part of it is:
players are able to join without approvement from the group owener.
Problems with this – most of all players dont even read the LFG descriptions making harder for what we are looking.
2nd problem they join party and right away leave and when this happen at the 5th element our lfg dissapear and we have to put it up again, it gets my nerves too much time wasted to make a specific party.
Suggestions to avoid all of this.
Make the group owner able to select the players from a list of players interested to run specific dungeons.
Make a way of clicking on their names to check all their gear and traits so we can be sure of what we are picking up to our partys.
When you are looking for a group with specific gear and traits make a way of adding a waiting list with all specifications .
So regular runs and speedruns can be supported like the group owners expect.
Why did you necro a one month old thread with suggestions that have been given a million times already?
