Hi there! I’d like to share a recent idea, I’m sure others have come up with it before, but I’ll still post this, just in case. You can skip the context part to the solution which is located right below it if you’d like!

Context!:
So, I’m a player (Like many other players) that likes to cosplay characters that I love from others games, here in GW2, as for example, I have a character that I have outfitted to look like Link from The Legend of Zelda, which is a very popular target for cosplayers!
My problem is now, I was trying to find a hood that would look good on my little hero, but after a very short amount of time, I realised that there are no really good ones, either it’s a pointy wizards hat, or a Santa hat that (on that setup) made me look like a dork with a sock on his head or it was something else that just did not look good. I then decided to just run it without any hood, until I found the Arcane outfit in the gemstore. The hood on this outfit is really perfect for what I am going for, but sadly… Since it’s on an outfit, I can’t use it to finalize my cosplay.

Solution!:
I think that we should be able to transmute individual pieces of gear from outfits, onto our actual gear! This would allow for far more costumization options, and also more originality to players and their looks. I’d love to get feedback on this idea and to maybe build on it’s strength, and if you find anything bad about this idea, please post it on this forum, and maybe we can find a solution to it!

I hope you like this idea, and if you don’t, feel free to let me know why you wouldn’t like to have this implemented in the game!
Thanks for reading!

It has been suggested countless times before with no change, with Anet’s main reasoning being:

“Outfits give us a way to create highly stylized looks that aren’t constrained to armor slots or weight class. In addition to armor skins that are easier and cheaper to collect across characters and the account dye system we do believe the options across a players whole account are much more attractive now. You’ll see more outfits coming out this summer and additions to the game more often usable by your characters. We try not to allow too much ‘hoarder’ design where we just keep stacking more and more options on leaving lots of unsupported things hanging around. Yes, we do have to give up some of our current closet space and clothing to fit the new wardrobe in. Again, apologies for that.”

Source (Quite an old quote, so keep that in mind, their view may well have changed)

I could add some more to the discussion, but I recommend you read through the comments in all of the other countless threads on the topic:

I looked upon some of those, and one of their main reasonings where about the fact that outfits don’t have supported individual pieces, this isn’t actually 100% true, as you actually can remove the headpiece on some gear, and sometimes even the shoulders and gloves, via the “Do not show” tickbox. This suggests that the outfits that have those options actually do have some individual gearpieces. Why can’t we use those atleast?

Because they do not work the same as normal gear (As stated in many of the other outfits to armor topics)… Notice when you click the do not show tick box the location disappears, you do NOT see the armor that it was covering.

Yeah… I suppose that’s right… Gosh darn it.. I’d do anything to have that hood from the Arcane outfit though, thanks for the quick replies ^.^
