Sorry for the blunt title, but I firmly believe that the writing is on the wall now. You could bury your head in the sand and reply asking for proof, you could deny all you want. The proof is readily available, everyone knew that the new guild mission patch would also be a terrible idea, but I guess most of us didn’t realize how bad it truly is.

Sorry in advance for the long and slightly complaining post, but I’m saying my peace now, long time player ~ 8 characters at level 80, 5 world 100% so just to be sure, I know what I’m talking about – Whether or not you guys choose to agree with me or not, it doesn’t matter now, I’m saying the game is really in serious danger. You’ve already lost hundreds of thousands of players, the game is a real mess right now and then you spring another bombshell that again, is going to affect another huge portion of players?

Guild Missions

Serious, who thought of the bright idea to make it Art of War 5 for the requirements? Seriously, fire that guy/girl right now – That immediately alienates PvE guilds who didn’t bother leveling up tree, not to mention smaller guilds and newer guilds who have a hard time gaining influence. Honestly, out of all the design decisions, this one is perhaps the worst – it is seriously going to cause alot of people to quit the game when it goes live, and the game is already hurting for players.

Also, not only does this content essentially lock out tons of players, it is also going to kill alot of smaller guilds. This type of content upgrades really screw over casual players and casual guilds, which is one of the major sources of players for GW2 – the very target audience.

Condition Damage/Class Balance

Like other posts on here, it is a serious issue that certain specs and classes will not work well together in a group, for a long time this issue has been more or less kept quiet like a dirty little secret, but these days it is becoming more and more problematic and really needs a solid answer and fix from the developers. No longer should the players be screwed over and limited to select builds and classes when grouping.

Class balance is so broken it isn’t even funny, and not even really worth posting about because everyone knows it ~ Warriors are so overpowered compared to broken mechanics compared to other classes, its just not even funny. Heck, I’m going to directly say it here ~ All the major problems Diablo III had, GW2 is almost following the same mistakes – poor upgrades, poor class balances (Mostly with Warriors too)

I think the problem here is simple, balancing the game on a PvP point of view – Screw the balance, it is time to separate the mechanics. Have PvE skillsets and PvP skillsets so each are balanced independently of each other.

Pre-Cursors/Mystic Clovers/Legendary

What about the scavenger hunts? How about making mystic clovers fairer to get without resorting to gambling? Everyone knows the RNG in Guild Wars 2 is really terrible, countless….countless posts complaining about it, and yet it still remains one of the great issues plaguing the game. Sure, people can spout entitlement until hell freezes over, it still doesn’t change the fact the system in place is terrible and is open to all sorts of abuse.

Dungeons/Fractals

They still have massive issues, many of which are really dumb like CoE path 3 – why haven’t you nerfed the evolved destroyer yet? Seriously takes um..30 minutes to kill it? What about Arah? I’ve personally done hardcore raids which took less time… You’ve got so many bad design ideas in many of these dungeons that really kill the enjoyment for many players, and thats just a tiny fraction of the problems. Look at fractal levels beyond 20+ which are so pug unfriendly….and don’t, please don’t say this game is aimed at the hardcore players when its not.

DR/TP

Why do we still have DR? You supposedly eliminated all the bots roaming around, so why is it still enabled? Look at the prices for materials, its rapidly becoming a joke – the prices of Ectos for instance? Look at the blantant price manipulation of pre-cursors on the TP – all these problems coupled with all the other issues are dragging this game down and honestly, unless your developers start pulling some magic tricks and regain player confidence in your company, be it anet or ncsoft…or whatever, your PR is at an all time low.

It is quite possible to list many other areas, issues and areas of complaints. But in all honesty, with the array of new MMos coming out this year including such titles as ESO, PSO2 and Archeage. Honestly, unless the developers really start to buckle down and provide good honest, and above all accessible patches to all players, all guilds and all player-types then this game will be dead in the coming months.

Quick note about the evolved destroyer: They did make it easier. If you’re still taking 30 minutes to kill it, I would wager that your group needs to “L2P.”

I personally have quit playing because of the sheer lack of being rewarded for my time playing.

Rewards are consistently crappy, breeding a player base of loot cynics.

Blues from Jormag.

Why?

Why get blues AT ALL from a 70+ zone?

People can’t even level purely off drops. WHO DOES THAT?

Too much RNG, just too much. So I’m out.

I’ve gone back to WoW for the time being because even though the gameplay is arguably repetitive, at least when you set a goal for yourself you can reach it within a feasible amount of time. And along the way, waddy a know? I get rewards RELEVANT to my level.

I agree with your point on class balancing. My only regret in this game is not choosing a warrior. I honestly feel my loot drops have suffered because I have a necro CD build.

And yes, as Oreoz said, drops from bosses, such as Jormag, SUCK!!! I don’t even bother with names bosses anymore unless I’m doing it with a guild group or just happen to be in the area at the same time the event pops. And I also agree there is too much RNG and it’s too restrictive.

lol only a few troll replies? Thanks to the few good ones. I personally stopped doing events like Claw of Jormag along time ago, getting blues/greens and very rarely a yellow orb for your trouble is pretty pathetic.

Evolved Destroyer is still a pathetic and unnecessary long fight. It really prevents many pugs from even attempting it, because simply put ~ it just isn’t worth it. I’ve pretty much done most this game has to offer, If the current content patches are going to be done in such as a way that it really forces me to leave, at least I can say I achieved a fairly decent amount – but that being said ~ my faith in ncsoft and anet has taken a serious hit and I’m willing to be, many others faith has been shaken too.

Problem with loots from Jormag is less the quality of the items or the amount of the loot, but the fact that this kittenty system revolves all around vertical progression. It doesn’t matter whether you get a weapon with a nice skin or not, it’s all just about getting better stats / salvageables to craft one of the few “legendaries” or “rare skins” from the mystic toilet. And first ones you only get from a single dungeon while the second one is a pure combination of RNG + hardcore grinding.

sadly people will argue that that’s all optional which is true…but they also forget the other thing.

“Ok fine guess I’ll quit then since maxing out your toon takes *15 minutes.”

*denotes exaggeration

Imagine if the majority of the player base thought that way?
It’ll probably become a reality once they realize that if they play the game their way instead of grinding fractals and dungeons they’ll get their legendary in like, 2 years. If we’re to base it on the current overly consistent crappy drops.

LoL ~ Last time I posted that for many casual players, the time frame for getting a legendary item is like 2 years…I got an infraction for it >.> With the Mod stating I was exaggerating, when really it isn’t.

Actually if anything the way the prices are heading – for most people, it’ll be their grandchildren who may end up with the legendary item =P j/k

I agree with everything except the destroyer boss in CoE p3. They already nerfed him by lowering his hp and increasing the time his shield is down. With a good group I kill the boss within 2 waves of attack. I don’t know what your group is doing, but everyone needs to be DPSing him when his shield is down.

DR is one of the major thing that’s literally stopping me from playing this game. I dungeon a lot, that’s my gameplay. I do them fast. And right now, I’m being forced to wait 2 hours from my first completion just so I can do more than 4 runs….otherwise I hit DR. Why can’t normal players (me) be allowed to run more than 4 dungeon paths in 2 hours?

Condition dmg is probely one of the top issues i have with this game, its such a huge part of many classes yet you feel so useless in way to many encounters.
Dragon events.
Taking down object’s
Burst parts like ice boss in fractal where the lava boost power dmg.
when more than one in your group is condition specced.
When mesmers use timewarp and you hit the cap instantly.

I will go step by step.
Point 1: Guild Missions
Well the idea is to be in a guild i think you would get it by the name GUILD WARS. Life choose have a cost ALL of them. The fact is that they have come out and said that you could join up with these guild running these events with out being in the guild that started it. Yes you will not get much of a rewarded but you have put nothing into getting the event started. If any thing you are unable to deal with your own life chose and the cost of them.
Point 2: Condition Damage/Class Balance
You have made no point here other then saying that you find a class “OP” you did not even say any thing about condition dmg so i am at a lost why you even put this here i am sry but your argument is more sounding like rambling due to some rages about something or other.
Any way you do not want classes to be comply Balance that just part of the gaming community there a video that talks about it for the life of me i cant find it. But the very funny thing is that when this game came out ppl where calling all the classes too balanced until ppl found tricks and got to playing with the game for well over 3 months. Now the meta has changes and the balance are a bit slow to changes the meta back to something else but that how pvp games are. Look at LoL ppl cry bloody murder about heroes both buffing and nerffing its just the way pvp games are made and keep fresh.
Point 3: Pre-Cursors/Mystic Clovers/Legendary
Truly the RNG in this game is very forgiving there are a lot if not all other mmorpg where the RNG of getting one item to drop is on the lines of .1% or worst. We are talking about the end all be all weapons in the game they SHOULD be hard to get and take time to get as well. As things stand Legendary weapons are purely for skin “bragging rights” but if it was easy to get they would be a trash weapon for most ppl and would be transmuted in a hart beat. All of the idea of the weapon would be lost if EVERY one had it. Look at it this way when we work on something and get a reward for it the reward is grater because one has worked to get it. Like wise if one did not work for the reward the reward will have a diminished value to that person and others who see it. If you did not want to deal with all of this then you should not try for the weapons its just part of the price to get them (to think money is not every thing in GW2).
Point 4: Dungeons/Fractals
First i would like to point out that they have come out and said that dungeons where something they put in fast and did not have the time to make to there ideal of “good standers.” They are going back (in this update even) to make dungeons a better experience for a person to run.
As for high level Fractals the idea was to be a hard event to test your skills. That what they said as they where coming out with these. A random group of ppl should not be able to bash though hard events look at how much rage there was when ppl just zurged events to win its boring and only thoughts who are looking for a free ride tend to like them. If an event is hard you should have to talk to ppl work out a plan of attk think about how you can combo and watch for stack of Unshakable (not randomly stuns head smashing into key bores). That at the base of mmorpg working with other humans to get to a goal. Less then 20 or 20 you can get all the items you could want in fractal. Now as for the weapons see point 3 they are hard things to get and should stay such.
Point 5: DR/TP
DR is to push the game away from doing one event over and over. Its kind of nice to do different events and you know not grinding my way to victory. There more to playing games then being a human bot (in effect what happens when you farm the same things over and over you just happen to not be a pc) it just makes the game boring but players look for the lowest denominator when it comes to mmorpg so there is some need to reward thoughts players who try to make the game more then this. DR is part of this now i am not saying its the best thing ever but its a quick fix to having ppl burn out the TP (that you seems to hate as is sadly i cant tell if you mean things are over priced or under its a bit hard to work that out).

You seemed to have your point of view and i think your looking for a reasons to hate this game. I am not sure why could be something happen in game that pushed you out of the game or in real life. I think you will not find happiness in other mmorpg because every thing you hate about GW2 is in EVERY mmorpg and the other ones that are coming out will have the same thing its just part of mmorpg.
See you March 31
Simply put:
I do not agree with what your saying and i find that your not looking at things with clear vision.

I don’t understand why anyone wants a legendary. The only thing legendary about them is the grind involved.

Because this game offers you nothing else to do “after 80”?
Atm you can grind for Legendary (and I agree, for casual player it’s 2 years + and it is NOT an exaggeration).

For the OP: I don’t even play GW2 any more and I know the point about ANet “removing all the bots” is a bs. The bots now are invisible / teleporting between points of interest (chests, nodes etc), there are still hordes of them.

While the point of a single mentioned boss bh the OP might not be true, GW2 simply put has very poor, unimaginative, uninteresting dungeon mechanics.
I personally opted to play a game with loads of itemization (a mechanic I deeply hate), but one that offers entertaining dungeons and raids. I mean, kick kitten dungeons!

Jski… “Well the idea is to be in a guild i think you would get it by the name GUILD WARS.”
Please, I beg you, show me the real Guild Wars element in GW2.
PvP is one of the poorest aspects in this game and WvWvW is simply put a joke.
The whole idea behing guild quests was to give guilds something new to do and putting them on Art of War 5 completely ruins this premise.

“Life choose have a cost ALL of them.” I think you mean “life choices” and frankly put, if you’re talking about “life choices” when it comes to what kind of guild you are in an online game, maybe you should empty your bucket.

Your take on condition and balance: you yourself give absolutely no arguments either, hence your point is mute.
OP on the other hand at least mentioned some problems, like broken class mechanics (broken since beta, I may add). If you don’t understand the premise of condition builds problems, learn your game. Really, go read up on that.

RNG very forgiving… I’m not even going to go there.
I am however guessing that your main background in MMOs are other NCSoft games of korean making, like Lineage or Aion. While of course there are exceptions and personal tastes should not really be discussed as it leads nowhere, I suppose you should become aware (and NCSoft too, would be nice) that Western market for MMOs differs greatly from the Eastern one and Western players are not really fond of RNG that much. Read up the forums, I think there must be awhole separate graveyard thread for all the “Enough RNG” threads.

Dungeons/Fractals: “they have said” – words are cheap. They have said they are not making grindy games and look what they brought us. Also, “they are going back” for the past half a year to fix broken class mechanics or improve non-fractal dungeons and nothing there worked out, either.

Again, preferences are personal things but if you want to discuss it, have arguments.
OPs arguments are not the best in the world, but you really don’t have any good ones either.

Enjoy the game tho, glad you like it.
I waited for it for years to get a disappointment of the decade.

Thanks Cherrie, I’ve been gaming for a very long time myself ~ call me a Jaded veteran if you would but I learned along time ago that everybody who plays the game is entitled to his/her own opinion, whether or not you agree with them – its your own personal views.

I’ve been along time poster on the forums, vocally voicing concerns, raising issues – I may not be the most articulate of posters, I make spelling/grammer mistakes and sometimes even struggle to get the valid points across in my own words – but the main thing is, I want this game to survive, to grow and be a great game everyone can enjoy not just one type playerbase.

Since way before launch, the main target audience was always aimed at the casual players – hence the horizontal progression, and since then the game has been heading into a more hardcore direction, and that is one of the reasons why the game has been steadily losing players. The next patch again, really caters to the more hardcore player and hardcore guilds than anything else – I admit, Guild Wars needs to cater to bigger guilds, but not at the cost of everything else – also, it needs to cater just as much to the smaller guilds – everything needs to be in some sort of balance, right now the scales are being tipped violently.

Guild Missions

I somewhat agree.

“Fancy joining our guild? We haven’t got as many guild missions unlocked but we’re working on it.”

“Na, I’ll join that guild over there that’s got everything unlocked, because rewards.”

Legendary Process

The scavenger hunts are a work in progress. Personally, I’m glad their taking their time, and hopefully it won’t just be a case of ‘gather a tonne of mats and dump them in the forge.’

Now, Mystic Clovers. I don’t have too much of a problem with these, because you’re still getting something back in return. If the entire process of creating the legendary was a long and genuinely (not artificially) difficult journey, there’d be no reason to complain about these. As it stands though, I agree. The legendary weapons (or the process, to be exact) was quite a disappointment (in before ‘well, you don’t have to go for it’. No, I don’t, but mediocrity is a terrible fate).

DR/TP

Where have they said that they’ve eliminated all of the bots?

As for DR, I can’t say I’ve ever played enough to hit it.

That aside, I don’t really keep track of TP prices, so I won’t comment on this.

All of your hyperbole aside (game is going to be dead in a few months? Game is in serious danger? I think Anet has access to more figures than any of us, so none of us really know), you make one or two good points.

Off-topic: Your signature: They don’t need to stop it. They just need to reduce the entry level for the track.

This game isn’t in trouble and you don’t know how many people have stayed or left. My guild, at least, has grown. Saying something is true doesn’t make it true.

In fact, most of the OP is filled with opinion stated as fact, when in fact many who enjoy the game don’t agree with those opinions.

HK raises a good point about player perception. The real question is whether they’re losing players faster than gaining them. I’m not seeing it. While there surely was a noticeable player recession in the month or two after the November loot nerf, that number seems to have recovered…this time with people who never experienced, hence have no memory of, the golden pre-November days. If anything, I’m seeing more people on now. That said, I’m also seeing more and more people complaining openly on world chat about extremely poor drops…especially at boss events. This begs the question of how long it’s sustainable like this? They’ve promised to improve drops in the February patch. Does this mean they’re started to see player recession again? Time will tell.

Guild Missions
Can’t comment on it as its not released yet.
Condition Damage/Class Balance
Yes I can agree that conditions feel pretty weak along with toughness. Why does my beefy warrior go down just as fast as the glass cannon warrior?
Pre-Cursors/Mystic Clovers/Legendary
The only “legendary” weapon in this game is Final Rest and thats only because it’ll be sold for a legendary price. The other “legendaries” are cool but not for the amount of grind need…. and even then the only one with any lore and coolness is Flameseeker Prophecies.
Dungeons/Fractals
YEA dungeons need a lot of reworking to be done! Look how long they took to fix CoF p2! Its fun now but other dungeons need to reworked/fixed asap.
DR/TP
Thats a simple one they want you to go to the BLTC and purchase gems to convert to gold! In dungeons its perfectly fine as is but in the open world its got to go. For a no grind game it makes no sense to have DR around since all its doing is forcing people to grind twice as hard….. All I want is Mjolnir and that seems impossible with the utter kitten drop rate charged cores/lodestones drop AND with DR in place…..

Essentially what you’re saying here is that you’re not looking for any sort of meaningful discussion you’re just looking to moan, to complain, to be a little girl (of course maybe you are a little girl, in which case replace girl with boy). Oh look your feelings got hurt and now unlike how a man deal with his problems (alcohol) you’ve decided to use the classic finger-in-ears-nananana-I-can’t-hear-you form of catharsis.

I know what I’m talking about

Practice makes perfect, but no matter how much I flap my wings I won’t be able to fly. By the same merit simply playing the game a lot doesn’t make you a expert on the game.

Whether or not you guys choose to agree with me or not, it doesn’t matter now

Yes because as we’ve already established you’re not listening.

I think the problem here is simple, balancing the game on a PvP point of view – Screw the balance, it is time to separate the mechanics. Have PvE skillsets and PvP skillsets so each are balanced independently of each other.

Technically the skills are separate, at this point they simply haven’t started fine tuning the balance yet so the PvE and PvP skills are still pretty homogeneous, but the ground work is there when they finally start tweaking. Several skills are already noticeable different.

lol only a few troll replies?

So those that disagree with you are trolls? I know the ego needs to defend itself but still…

It is quite possible to list many other areas, issues and areas of complaints. But in all honesty, with the array of new MMos coming out this year

I do believe another member of the forum said it best:

I’m sorry you don’t like the game. I hope you enjoy your next game more.

And probably said more amicably then I could.

I gave up long ago trying to farm high-end mats. You can farm the gold from low end mobs and buy them a lot faster. I’ve tried a number of times to farm destroyer cores/lodestones with both MF gear and without and have never had one drop. In fact, with about 600 hours in and map completion I’ve never had a core or lodestone of any kind drop…ever. Their RNG is too restrictive, even bugged perhaps, and as far as I’m concerned has broken critical game elements. It also does not seem to affect every class/profession equally having those with high burst damage seemingly having a much higher probability of getting good drops.

The gem store with it’s infinite money mill through converting gems to gold is causing terrible inflation in the TP, especially for high end items, and really needs to be reigned in. They can’t keep injecting new gold in to the in-game economy without putting those who do not want to use the gem store at a terrible disadvantage. It’s creating a divide of haves, who can/will buy gold through the gem store, and have-nots who are unable/unwilling to spend real money to get gold.

The idea is that you don’t get roving mobs of CD users. On something with a lot of heath I can maintain 12-14 stacks of bleeding. If you have 5 or 10 necros all doing the same thing, without a cap, you’re going to put even champions down very quickly. What I don’t understand is that while CD users have caps, there are no limitations on the amount of damage a group of warriors can cause. This is one of the largest reasons the classes are unbalanced. CD users have a cap on the amount of damage they can cause, 25 stacks total, to the point that groups of CD users will actually gimp each other, while melee classes are not subject to such restrictions.

I have no idea what you are trying to say here as you answer your own question in your own post. On an individual basis condition damage builds have completely no SIGNIFICANT advantage damage-wise over direct damage builds. In fact it’s actually weaker by some margin, so the “5 or 10 necros all doing the same thing, without a cap,” would be doing exactly the same (or less!) damage as any 5 direct damage builds attacking the same mob.

I didn’t ask a question, but you make my point for me. :P ““5 or 10 necros all doing the same thing, without a cap,” would be doing exactly the same (or less!) damage as any 5 direct damage builds attacking the same mob.” Uncapped, 5 necros would be doing upwards of 75 stacks of bleeding instead of being capped at a combined 25, where it is now…big difference!!! Huge difference and illustrates just how underpowered CD builds are. Warriors can also cause bleeding, taking away from the limited 25 stacks, gimping CD build even more. By comparison direct damage from a CD build is very limited. Uncapped CD would be more fair, since groups of warriors are not subjected to any such limits for direct damage.

I almost stopped reading when you said it’s a “fact” that guild missions will be terrible. But I read the rest anyways.

A lot of the things you say are your opinion. The moment you start pushing it as the “truth” is when you start losing your credibility.

Guild Missions: That’s completely your opinion. I actually look forward to this even though my guild is a small guild of less than 7 people. Sure, it could kill small guilds that aren’t strongly knit, but for others, it gives them a LOT more things to do via guild. People have been asking for it too. If you prefer that guilds be merely a label and communication mean, then I have nothing to say. You’re whining about it before it even comes, and you even try to say it’ll hurt “casual” guilds and players when it’s actually your “casual” players who are in the large guilds… Small guilds tend to be more special and enclosed, not where your “casuals” are normally found.

Condition Damage/Class Balance: As far as “class” goes (should be called profession), it’s “okay”, but not perfect. It’s not horrible as you make it out to be and your input just sounds like whining lol. Yes, there’s an issue with condition damage, especially with the way bleeds stack when in group (this is due to server bandwidth/processing). It still comes out with you whining about warriors. All classes need adjustments and tweaks, and that takes time because each class has to be taken into consideration when tweaking one class.

Pre-Cursors/Mystic Clovers/Legendary: There’s already plans to make the process more interesting. They’re not going to make it “easier” because the point of a legendary is that it should be worth it. They can definitely make it more fun and interesting, maybe by adding quest lines, etc. BTW, your input for this was completely useless too. It sounds more like whining and that you didn’t put much thought into improving it.

Dungeons/Fractals: They have issues, but not massive. Some paths could be more interesting or fun. Fractals 20+…. what are you complaining about? My friends Pug those all the time, with the only requirement is having some agony resistance. Your words there are just showing how ignorant you are.

DR/TP: DR affects hardcore grinding, not your average “casuals” if that is what you’re trying for. Also, some really rare items are meant to be rare… How would you feel if everyone ran around with Twilight?… Not very “legendary” anymore I guess. Instead of RNG, it’d be nice if they could make a quest chain that takes about a month to complete (which is the time it takes to grind for the mats), but that would take a TON of development and I don’t see it logical to do that right now when there are other more important things to work on.

About ectos prices rising, it rose around 10s. It actually used to be around that price a while back before a ton of ectos got introduced into the TP and dropped the prices. As you know, most game economies will slowly rise prices of items that are desired. Ectos happens to be desired more than the supply due to more and more people reaching 80.

If you did any of your research, the GW2 population stabilized and is on the rise slowly. It’s definitely not going to just suddenly die in a few months, unless the world blows up or everyone turns into zombies by some virus.

Really? Then why are you still here on the forums of GW2?

Agreed!! However, were you playing before November? It was so much better then, when you could actually get good drops…consistently and bosses/dragons/dungeons actually dropped good stuff most of the time, not just once in a blue moon. These days the game is still awesome, but loot and profession balance are issues, the TP also has some inflation issues for many high-end items. The loot nerfs that happened in November, DR preventing farming and the gem store allowing excess money in to the marketplace is much to blame for that. While I agree the “game is perfect on so many levels.” it is not perfect on all levels.

There are some interesting points, but despite your play history, I think ArenaNet only knows what their player base _ truly_ consists of. If they play their cards right, their player base could still grow, usually by providing more or interesting content over time. Guild Missions is definitely one of these.

Since you like to bring to the plate your eight 80’s, I’d like to bring across my achievements: I know I have over 5300 achievement points (only 100 points from Agent of Entropy for the curious types, and none from sPvP since I honestly can’t stand that kind of PvP style), but I know this game isn’t perfect.

However, I still have stuff to do before I eventually put this game away. I still have yet to craft myself a legendary, obtain the T3 culture sets for any of my characters, and level an Asura and Charr to 80, for example.

Anyway, let’s get to the points brought up:

Guild Missions

So far, we know one specific detail about one kind of Guild Mission. Perhaps it wasn’t the best example to leak out to the public, but at least we know something. However, I would reserve further judgement until the patch gets released. Maybe other Guild Missions would require different levels in different trees to activate them. That part I’m willing to bet on. It would be kind of silly to lump all those missions into one tree if you were to ask me about it.

Condition Damage and Profession Balance

I’ll agree to an extent on this part. I play a profession that some claim to be the gimpiest of them all: an Engineer. Personally, I’d like to spend more time with a Flamethrower since that’s how I leveled, but unless I go Grenades in high-level Fractal groups, I’m more than likely “doing it wrong”!

As far as Condition Damage goes, it really needs to be reworked in a way so that it doesn’t feel quite restricting when placed with other members who also favor Condition Damage. I suppose the obvious thing here is to remove the 25-stack cap on Bleeds, but maybe there’s a more elegant solution to this.

As far as separating between PvE and PvP versions of abilities, they already do this somewhat. It’s just not as noticeable compared to GW1. I know in previous patches, the flight time for my Grenades were different between PvE and PvP (though I think they’re pretty much the same as of today).

Pre-Cursors / Mystic Clovers / Legendary

Symbolically speaking, a clover (more specifically, a 4-leaf clover) signified a certain amount of luck. It would make sense that there’s some RNG involved when obtaining such clovers. Personally, I stuck with the 1-clover recipe since I would be granted more chances in obtaining them instead of the 10-clover recipe, despite the odds of receiving clovers is roughly 1/3 for both recipes. I would say the 10-clover recipe is more or less for those “Go Big or Go Home!” types.

Honestly, I think clovers should be the only component that relies heavily on RNG, not the precursor. After all, it’s supposed to represent the Luck component when crafting the Legendary. For the precursor, I really would like to see how this Scavenger Hunt would turn out to be when it comes out. So far, I could only gauge it from the Black Moa Scavenger Hunt in GW1. If I had some fun with that in GW1, it might be interesting to see how Scavenger Hunts would work in GW2. When will we such thing implemented? Who knows!

Dungeons

I love running dungeons. I won’t lie about that. However, some of them are just a bit broken and prone to exploits to a certain extent, so getting into a pug that doesn’t like exploiting is quite rare.

If I remember right, AC will be undergoing some interesting changes in the next patch. More like Fractals? Not sure what that’s supposed to mean, but it would be nice to see if the bosses are a bit more interesting. Maybe you’ll actually be forced to use those cannons on the Ghost Eater. Who knows!

As far as the Evolved Destroyer goes, I have noticed that boss to be somewhat easier since the last major patch came out— well, it died faster the last time I killed it.

I suppose “AC 2.0” will be a good gauge on what the revamped versions of other dungeons will be like when future patches come around.

Diminishing Returns

Honestly, I could never understand this one in certain parts of the game. The closest thing I could relate this to was the formally-implement “Fatigue System” in FFXIV, which has long since been removed from that game.

I can see that it would discourage those from running the same easiest dungeon path over and over again. That part I can live with. I suppose that could be better than say a “raid lockout” in that you would have to wait a certain amount of time before starting over again. However, getting DR when my group is just “too good” in doing a large string of unique dungeon paths just doesn’t make sense to me.

When it comes to farming, there will be those who like to farm legitimately (as in: not botting) for the entire day. Maybe it’s just relaxing for them. I know I like to spend some quality time in Southsun Cove just killing Karka if I get bored with other things. I shouldn’t be penalized because I chose to dedicate a day of my life in Tyria engaging in the act of Karka Genocide.

Overall, certain parts of the game do need work— I’ll agree with that. I know I’ve been doing my part in reporting exploits in dungeons as I see them happen, because I honestly would not like to rely on using them to succeed in dungeon content; but I would reserve further judgement until I see results. How long should I wait? I don’t know— I know I’m very patient and I don’t plan on playing anything else for quite some time.

Those leaving: “This game is dead on it’s feet and/or dying”

Those staying: “This game is thriving and we’ve gained members in our guild even”

The difference? nothing, if you’re not enjoying the game and direction then leave and remember it next time A-Net develops a game and markets it, inform others that they might not get what they expect, Personally I will NEVER purchase ANYTHING that’s published by NCsoft, or has involvement from ANYONE who worked at or with NEXON. That’s just my “opinion” as a consumer. I don’t blame anyone for staying or enjoying this game however, and do enjoy posting on the forum albeit mostly cos it’s an interesting divide in the community which is amusing to a degree even if it’s baffling.

Your perception also is heavily reliant on the server your currently on – try guesting to a smaller server and you’ll see massive differences in player population. Also, if you’ve been logged in everyday since launch, you’ll have definitely noticed a massive decrease in player population – I’ve noticed it, and many others have too.

It seems your making out that you MUST play one way in this game. You have got to get out of the mind set that there is only one way to do things. The fact that your going with a group of random ppl (i guess you have no friends in this game but i hope that not true) will changes up how you run things. Side note:

Well yes, of course it’s based on my home server, Borlis Pass. I’ve logged in almost every day since August. Population out in the world used to be better then for sure. However, these days, I see many more people in Orr than I did back then, also there’s many more people loitering around Lion’s Arch now than then. Before XMas I rarely went in to overflow at LA. These days, I almost always go to overflow. I know a lot of people left after the November loot nerf and with how poorly the Lost Shores event was handled. Only 2 out of the 20 that were in my original guild were still playing after Xmas.

I’d actually like to guest to a low pop server and a high pop one just to do some comparisons, but It’s hard to tell what a low population server is, since population does not mean “active” population, unless you judge that from their WvW rank. For transfers, there’s nothing there listed as anything other than High or Very High…at least the last time I looked a couple weeks ago.

I’d very much like to know where you found the info on the changes on AC – would love to see what it’s about ;o

Wasn’t surprised that there would be classes that overall performed better than others because I played gw1 where the discrimination also existed. Rest of the post I can’t agree with especially evolved destroyer taking 30mins…

It used to take 30 minutes, and I’m not talking about the classic setup of 4 zerker warriors and 1 mesmer. Try going into CoE path 3 with a pug made up of a Necromancer, Engineer, Ranger, Elementalist and Guardian.

How about going into Arah (path4) and take along a Necro, Engineer and Ranger as part of the group..=P

It seems your making out that you MUST play one way in this game. You have got to get out of the mind set that there is only one way to do things. The fact that your going with a group of random ppl (i guess you have no friends in this game but i hope that not true) will changes up how you run things. The class comp. will have nothing to do with it.

Side note:
I think its an interesting event going on here you have ppl who think they can only do events by doing it the “best looked at way.” In effect they are becoming elitist with out being able to in there view play in an elitists way. I think some one needs to try to make a master off this or at least wright up a good paper.

My attachment says it all – and that isn’t an isolated, that is very very common.

Your tag? tell us a lot more too. Some ppl are like that should you fault them for playing the way they want? Should YOU play that way too? This is not a localized server system you can run events with any one (mind you there is an EU / NA / and i am not sure if not another region lock) but if you cant find ppl to run events i think it maybe more on you then the other ppl playing the game.
