Hey there everyone!

So I’m here today to address the recipe for Immobulus. I personally feel as though the recipe has been overlooked given the availability of what is required to make it. Mainly, I am speaking of the Giant Eyes.

First off, the recipe goes a little something like this:

250 Giant Eyes
250 Piles of Crystalline Dust
30 Mystic Coins
1 Eldritch Scroll

While that seems to be a standard recipe, I feel as though it’s not on par with the other recipes that require Giant Eyes. If we look at Lidless Eye, that only requires 10 Giant Eyes, moving on to Melandru’s Gaze, which only requires 1. And last but not least, the Wall of the Mists, which only requires 30 Giant Eyes for such a great skin. So why is Immobulus way up there?

Speaking from experience, I recently purchased over 500 heavy moldy bags in an attempt to get a few Giant Eyes to make some progress. Out of all of those 500 bags, I did not get a single giant eye. Now we could chalk that up to bad RNG, etc. etc. but I feel like the drop rate is just too small for the recipe to be plausible.

What I would like to see happen, is for this recipe to be on par with the others if possible. Yes the skin for Immobulus is great, and does a nice effect, but I don’t believe that the effect is outweighed by the Wall of the Mists skin/effect, which as I said only requires 30 Giant Eyes.

Maybe I missed out on the Giant Eye epidemic, maybe a patch here or there killed their drop rate, I’m not sure.

I’m just a simple player that wants to get Immobulus in all it’s glory, but not spend as much time as a legendary takes to get it.

Thanks Anet for listening, hopefully,
Lord Celestial (Mesmer).

P.S. If there is a reason for this recipe being so high, then of course please let me know. I’m a very understanding player, and will put in the work to get it if necessary.

Yeah giant eyes apparently drop from large moldy bags, not heavy.

But the drop rate is ridiculously low. I simply put buy orders in for my giant eyes. My immobulus is still my favorite weapon, and worth it in the long run, to me.

Edit: people say that they drop from heavies, but the likelihood of that is very dismal.

And for fun I once asked a developer in game if he could promote my Lucky Charms of DOOM to Legendary status. He declined.

Some forge recipes are ridiculously expensive. I just created the Emerald Amulet (Soldier’s exotic amulet) and it was:

250 gold ingots
250 emerald orbs
250 crystalline dust
50 mystic coins

By BLTC prices, this was an 80 gold amulet that’s only exotic and no one can ever see. What did I pay for? Exotic level Soldier’s…..not attainable through normal play unless you are in one of two dungeons and the RNG gods are not only smiling but drunk as well.

250 giant eyes, however, would cost about 375 gold at today’s buy price….that’s insane. I can see why you went the route of the moldy bags.

I’ve played over 1300 hours and only had ONE dropped giant eye. I had never even heard of it so had to look it up on the wiki as to what it was used in. To be fair, I don’t spend much time in Orr due to abysmal drop rates in general, but I would say that even actually collecting (not buying) 50 of these would be on par with saving materials to craft a legendary. 250 is out to lunch.

Yeah, it’s kind of ridiculous. They need to either nerf the amount needed or increase the drop rate on the giant eyes. I would love to craft an Immobulus for my ele, but right now it’s impossible with these rates and I don’t have the gold to buy the eyes on the tp.

It is meant to be rare, yeah, although I think that Giant Eyes ARE ridiculously hard to get. Prices are only still reasonable because Lidless Eye, Immobulus and I forget what was the third item aren’t that popular as skins.

Personally, I’d like to see ANet make the following change:

Killing a Giant or Risen Giant will always give you a guaranteed Giant Eye, similar to how killing Veteran Karkas will always give you a Karka Shell. Given how rare Giants are in this game, I don’t think this would flood the market with too much supply.

As a player who made mjolnir recently the hardest (not exactly hard but expensive) was getting the 350 lodestones I needed for it. I completed mine in roughly a week and a half by buying and upgrading the cores (cheaper by roughly 40s~ per lodestone) and lots and lots of dungeons, world bosses, and a night or 2 grinding out the champ train.

So getting 250 giants eyes in a week is completely doable if there is supply there to do it.

There are more ways to obtain Charged Lodes than ever before. They added new sources since launch. The supply is healthy and the market active. Those recipes are easier to make than in the past, whereas Immobulus is only becoming more difficult.

Farm gold in the most optimal way (dungeons/champ farm) and buy the eyes from the TP. That’s how this game has been designed to be played.

At the time of writing, there are not enough Giant Eyes on the TP to craft a single Immobulus.

I wanted to craft Eye of Rodgort which requires the Lidless Eye (10 Giant Eyes are part of the creation) and a total of 500 T6 blood (250 for Lidless Eye, 250 more for the final product). I took my ranger out farming the highest level Basilisks (L64’s in Mount Maelstrom) for a week, and not one Giant Eye dropped. If the drop rate has been nerfed into the ground then I’d really want to question ‘why’?

Yeah giant eyes apparently drop from large moldy bags, not heavy.

Thankfully it’s because the skins created with Giant Eyes are not very popular.

Immobulus – “Sparkly hearts n’ stars wand”. Just like the Wintersday Princess Wand, most players eschew this weapon because of how “girly” it is. (I want one, but I’m in the minority, it would seem.)

Lidless Eye – “Creepy giant eye wand”. Good for a Necro, but not very appropriate for other Scepter wielding classes. The 250 Powerful Blood probably also discourages a lot of people.

Melandru’s Gaze – A rather plain looking staff skin, IMO. The relatively low price suggests this view is probably shared by most players.

Wall of the Mists – Most players I’ve seen don’t seem to want glowy pink/purple weapons unless they’re Mesmers (which can’t use Shields). The skin also shares the same base appearance as the Ghastly Shield, so players who like the look could just get that instead.

Lidless Eye is needed to craft Eye of Rodgort- which I admit is personal taste but I consider it the Necro Legendary.
I nearly killed myself crafting it because I had to have it- no buts.
500 t6 bloods was no fun I assure you.

As for pink wispy weapons- I have Vision of the Mists on my Mesmer- it is not the shield obviously so didn’t require any Giant Eyes.

Immobulus on the other hand is one of the best looking weapons in the game imo- I am hating myself already because I think I just might have to make it for my guardian if she actually makes it to 80- so far she is happy with the princess wand and she might just have to stay that way.
If only I can find a staff to match it- and no, don’t say Bifrost :P

I did too on my mesmer but it’s just a terrible weapon for much every class (except guardian due to lack of any other actual ranged weapon when range is required) it’s especially terrible on mesmer that it has no place in pve or pvp

Some recipes are just more expensive than others, the mystic forge weapons that are animated for the most part are always more expensive than the ones that aren’t animated (the exception being the blue flame dragon sword….I’m honestly surprised that it’s as cheap as it is)

Anyway, to those of you thinking about getting this scepter, it is very much worth it. It is my favorite weapon (I’ve made 2 of them) and perfect for my Asura. I received most of my giant eyes from buy orders, about 5 from large moldy bags, and about 50 from various guildies. So they’re out there, I think a lot of the supply might be that they’re collectible and not everyone knows that they have gotten on (because it gets deposited). Needless to say, though, they’re very very very rare.

I’d like to see the recipe get changed, though, to 100 or so (keep it rare but not so outrageous). I think the 250 is crazy based on the fact that most of the time there aren’t 250 on the market, let alone in someone’s bank

Y’all can stop arguing about whether or not Vol or I was rude (as I don’t care if anyone s on my side or not and since I was only responding to Vol and none of you). Anyway, I’ll just first preface this with, I know that RNG is RNG.

I opened 2000 heavy moldy bags. 0 giant eyes.
I opened 750 large moldy bags. 5 giant eyes.

This is where my information came from. But again, RNG is RNG. I just felt that my sample size was large enough to say what I did, and it apparently wasn’t.

Anyway, Immobulus rocks! Let’s talk about that.
