REASONS YOU DON’T LIKE THE NEW PATCH

Hello guys…. this is a topic about what you didn’t like with the patch and proposed solutions. Just post your top 2 issues and a fix for it. Then we’l have many pages of feedback to the devs! Remember to avoid personal insults try your best to be construvtive. IL go ahead and post mine:

1. FEROCITY
With the new patch my thief is rendered useless. He is a D/D direct damage stealth thief. you know the kind: 3000 attack, 16 k hp and 120% critdmg (prepatch) now i am brought down to 228 % ferocity which is with old critical damage 78 % critdmg that effectively means 42 % less damage. This is alright in PvE but it renders WvW roaming direct damage builds useless.

solution:
There is one simply solution. add a 35 % critdamage buff in WvWvW.

FORCING PVE DOWN PVP’ERS THROATS
I really desire the new traits for my warrior alt and ele alt. i knew i didnt want to go around in pve and grab it so i went to the vendor to buy it. And there i saw it it required freaking 20 skillpoints… Therefore i have to go to PvE anyhow…

Solution:
Just simply remove skill point requirement and increase the gold cost slightly.

7800 hours ingame, and counting.

1. For me, the massive reduction to boon duration on runes. My guardian went from 60%, to a 33% over-night (near on half).

2. Ele’s still never got a boost to healing. When mines lost its health (about to die), there is very little I can do to put my health up.

3. A lot of the new traits are useless!

The only thing I don’t really like about the new patch is having to do stuff to unlock the new traits :P

Though I agree it’s logical to do it, I’m too lazy to bother…
I wish they were stuff I could do alone, at least.

Ferocity is the obvious nerf the feel they have to introduce.

Anet goal is to destroy build every sigle feature patch even if not necessary… They maybe think pushing players to play the way ANET wants is a good thing…

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

1. Super ugly dragon emote that doesn’t fit with any other emote. They should have put some effort in to make it look like GW1 dragon.

2. Fact that I have to change my weapons each time I switch between pvp and pve. And I do switch a lot, depending on my mood.

3. Hambow wars stronger than ever. 25 stacks of might constantly without any problem with rune of strength.

All but the new traits are unlocked on my low-level thief, probably since I used to PvP with him. I was really looking forward towards unlocking traits around Tyria =(
Perhaps I’m a minority. Though, I would really appreciate the option to be able to choose whether or not to get all these traits unlocked for free, or to have them locked + receiving gold equivalent to the cost of unlocking them at the Trainer =)

And to all those wining about losing critical damage: We all did, most of us play Zerker. We’re all dealing less damage. Hopefully the game gets less of a faceroll now.

1. New trait system, too simple and without any real options for customizing your character to your liking, leading to everyone using the same trait builds which was one of biggest downfalls in other games like this one.

1a. Solution to the new trait system, just bring back the old one where there were a lot more options and you could personalize your characters (by the way the old system was not over powered because it was available to all professions, if OP in comparison to NPCs or monsters it is extremely easily fixed in the monster attribute database).

2. Megaserver system, it does nothing for the players who actually want to play on low population servers to get acquainted with the game and not have other players ridiculing them for not knowing the game yet. Also the language barrier is a mega setback as it will lead to problems in-game as players will have a harder time team-working as the prerequisite for team-working is communication.

2a. Megaserver solution, increasing populations on any given map to overcome obstacles and events is great but the easiest way to implement the megaserver system would be to make it language specific especially here in Europe. Instead of world selection you have a language selection. For players who prefer low population servers the megaserver system could be implemented as a channel function and list the number of players on any given map so the players can freely choose whether they want a high population channel or low population channel leading to any specific map.

1. Sigil of bloodlust now losses it’s 25 kill streak when you swap to a different weapon. Uhm yes the sigil is on that weapon, but the REWARD for your hard work should stay until downed.

2. Nerfing the champ train in a starter area I can understand, but should have been replaced with an area something like the destroyed LA. If you want to be a part of that environment, go to that area. Remember when we had to go get 1200 citizens and the bad guys tried to stop use? Roll with something like that Anet, for those who want to lvl fast, gain a few coins, and keep the high lvls from getting bored.

Hmmm, even could add a full NPC randomly spawn zerker group that would even put the fear in the highest lvl. Now that would add to the excitement of a champ train.

1. Behemoth pre-event is impossible to do, the portals cannot be hit. (Bug)
2.They fixed the bug with Necro’s Blood is Power, now even if you don’t have a target, you will still bleed.
3. The boss schedule based on American time, worst timings in Europe.

Just the interaction between Pve and Pvp equipment.
Say you have 2 different builds 1 for Pve/Wvw and one for Pvp. It’s mainly about the weapon sets. I always have to re-equip, equip the different weapons i have for both pve and pvp. They shouldve made the weapons stay in the ‘pvp build’ button instead of it interacting to the wardrobe. I for one don’t want multiples of my legendaries being transmuted and accidentally deleting one from re-equiping it over and over.

I believe that’s not how the Megaserver System works.. Language is one of the variables the algorithms take into account, along with all the others, but it is indeed one of them, and I’ll say it’s probably one of the primary ones too. I don’t think you’ll have problems with languages overflowing.
Plus, if you want to find people of your specific language to do certain content, you can always use the newly added language filter in the lfg tool, it’s not just for dungeons.

I second the EU-Megaserver problems!
I don’t mind a lot of mixed languages because I speak english, german and a bit of french but I guess most of the playerbase doesn’t and so I could witness, within 5 minutes of being logged in at Rata Sum, germans complaining about french; frenchmen complaining about germans; english speaking people shouting “ENGLISH PLS” because they didn’t get a single word and a few spaniards chatting with themselves.
At least for the language/country specific servers we need the system to do a better sorting so people aren’t upset about that kind of foreign-bazaaresque atmosphere

It does not work this way. In a lot of maps mapchat currently is an unreadable mess.

This won’t work. Maybe US citizens cannot imagine how it is to life on a continent with +10 major languages, but I can tell you, that the overwhelming majority of my guildies bought this game because a localized version and language-specific servers are available. If that goes away, so will the players.

Well i was thinking about leaving and play teso…and after this creepy patch i decided to leave.
reasons:
1) pvp – oh rly you finally done what has to be done ages ago!
2) dyes,wardrobe etc – good but only for small time fun.
3) megaserver – now you cant kill karka if you late in 2 min. Because MASSIVE zerg of kitten talking ppl killing it in 2-4 mins.
4) Traits – well, i dont use new openable traits because its useless for me. And i dont see any changes only 25-became 4 etc.
I hope they will anounce a better content in one week. Because they need to take ppl back or keep em in game. After this patch a lot of ppl wanted to leave soon.

I was in Mists after patch and it was a total chaos with people talking in french, spanish and german all over the place.

PLEASE, PLEASE enforce a more strict separation between FR/DE/SPanish language servers and international servers else this will be a total fail.

PvP skins.. let me get this straight… Anet wants me to pay to use SKINS i already unlocked?? Those skins were PvP rewards, why do I need to pay to use something i EARNED in the last 2 years? What I don’t like about the new patch…phew…

Changing town clothes by making the new system have much less dye options than the previous one.

Anet saying they were gonna rebalance the runes, and yet keeping Rune of Speed the same.

I’m not sure why I keep getting on the hype train when Anet is so willing to show they don’t actually make an effort. The new Rune of Speed says it all.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

The UI’s design was never good, but with the new changes it’s taken several steps back.

The hero panel’s design is a random clusterkitten of UI concepts from absolutely everything — from non-mouse UIs, old graphical desktops, Web 2.0 and whatever, the hero panel has it all, everything used optimally in a relentless assault on the user’s patience.

Also, and that green on brown is not a very accessible choice of colors.

I only have three complaints about the patch.

#1: Town cloths were ruined, since they can no longer be dyed.
#2: The UI is cumbersome to fight with.
#3: Consecutive dungeon runs were nerfed hard. I used to do these to help out players, but now… ow my wallet.

Otherwise it is a decent patch.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

Hehe i didn’t even think about that. That’s a serious blow for PVPers. Something completely free converted into something you have to pay for to use.

Megaserver system, I believe that the developers foresaw the decline in populations all around after the changes to the trait systems and the rest of the changes I can see people complaining about and that is why they chose to make this megaserver system so it seems the player base has increased.

OR it was made because everyone was complaining about overflows, and underpopulated zones.. but lets go with your reasoning, as its far more dramatic and therefore must be right..

However it does nothing for the players who actually want to play on low population servers to get acquainted with the game

…. What? I play solo a lot, and don’t like to group much.. and I don’t even want that. And what happens once your ‘acquainted’ and start complaining that there’s no one to run events with? or that the world is empty?

and not have a bunch of other players running circles around them and ridiculing them for not knowing the game yet.

Wont happen… never… ever. There may be the odd example of a bad egg, but I reckon your chances of this happening are slim to absolutely nothing, certainly not a factor to change the entire server structure…

Also the language barrier is a mega setback as it will no doubt be the biggest blunder of all time for most Europeans don’t speak more than one language and the rivalry between the countries to this very day are still in effect leading to major problems in-game as players will have a much harder time team-working.

Again, I very much doubt its even a slight factor. Is it possible that your issues come from social anxiety, which is fine, but don’t confuse the problems. Rivalries between countries? The most I have ever seen from anyone that came close to a ‘country rivalry’ is UK not being happy about French servers early dominance of WvW due to French Canadians being able to dominate the map outside of primetime.. and even that was a friendly affair.. please think about what you say before posting? I have no issue playing with anyone from another country, or anyone who speaks another language, and have enjoyed dungeon runs where I was the only English speaker. Please enlighten me as to how sharing a virtual space with people from other countries or languages negatively impacts your experience with examples.

As for your proposed solution, I think you will find that one of the filter aspects that determines what map your on is language. At most, the proposed solution (if one is even needed and I don’t feel it is) is to improve that filter or increase its priority.

Megaserver really should have split the EU into three regions; French/German/English.

We still have guesting options, so people who want to play in either region for whatever, can.
But today we had people asking at karka “why is this English”?

This will suck quite a bit for people who want to speak their own language.

Anet, you were decent enough to have other languages to English, so why do you insist on combining us altogether?.

To reply to OP, the thing I hate. Traits unlocking at higher levels, meaning it’s even more important to get to lv80 so you can have everything unlocked.
and leveling will suck for most classes. I really dont understand why they felt the need to unlock traits at a later level.
The could have had them start at lv15(5 points) , while still changing the other things they wanted (like having to explore to get traits ).
Why anet, why leave them locked to 30??

Ferocity. Destroying power roaming builds in WvW for the sake of the PvE “meta” (which still isn’t going to change) is nonsensical and simple.

It’s as if ANet have been living under a rock and were completely unaware of how superior condition builds already were. Now it’s even worse.

3. I have 2 Mesmers- too scared to look at my other 80’s yet.
I have no desire to play my 5 under 80’s without traits

4. I play in EU- sooooo. Megaserver

5. Boss timers wtf?- I play in EU- will never see some bosses again- nevermind that I am not reducing my life to a GW2 schedule

6. my runes that I actually use- have now changed functionality to the point where they are useless to me
7. Event reward nerf- there goes playing in the openworld for fun

I haven’t been able to play much with the feature patch, only about 15 min or so before I had real life to attend to. But from the information they gave us, and what I noticed in those 15 minutes.

1. Bosses on schedule.
2. Megaservers (gathering nodes specifically)
3. Transmuted item names not showing the name you want, but rather the base item
4. UI is a bit clumsy

  • Ferocity: they hit more those Power builds that weren’t going fullberserk but still revolving on critical hits for a semi decent dps.
  • New Traits: 75% scrap.
  • No new Skills: 18 months of the same boring, useless meta.

They could arrange buttons to switch between equipment, wardrobe and dyes, and also add the freaking long-wished MINI SLOT! The list-tabbed menu sure is clumsy…

Also, I’ve lost a lot of skins I had in the past, there’s no retroactive functionality, I switched armors as the time passed and got to use quite a lot of skins (fractal weapons for example). Luckily for some odd reason I saved my Jade Staff and my gloves from Flame & Frost waay back then, so now I got 2 free skins (yeah, I spent a lot into BL Keys, I still shudder when I remember how much I put into to grab Fused Staff which I didn’t have enough luck anyways).

I don’t get why Aquatic Benevolence doesn’t apply to the caster, the main problem is staying alive, even stuffing points in water isn’t enough, and they simply nerfed boon duration to the ground to top it all.

3) megaserver – now you cant kill karka if you late in 2 min. Because MASSIVE zerg of kitten talking ppl killing it in 2-4 mins.

iirc, the megaserver hasn’t been implemented on Crab Island yet, just cities and starter zones.

Anet please explain why??

It had the wrong skin in PVE, the “new” skin is the one that was always in the PVP locker.

They said “low population zones”, which does not necessarily mean starter zones. How they exactly define that term though is not known.

I love the patch.. and appluad ANet on their work. But.. I don’t consider this a feature patch.

I understand that it takes a lot of resource to make these kind of changes, but that’s what the vast majority of it is.. changes, revisions of existing features, fixes, balancing, polishing… not new features.

I include megaserver in that statement, which I wholeheartedly support, but its a revision of server structure, not a new feature.

This isn’t a call for these items, but new features are things like player housing, new mechanics, different avenues of progression, mini games (like the numerous untouched games in cities that should be in already).

PvP reward tracks, I guess that’s a new system? New traits I suppose? Everything else is a revision of an existing system.. not new features.. in my opinion. I feel like I was expecting an expansion of stuff to do, but what I got was the same game with a new gloss of paint.

.. again, note that I love the patch, but a lot of this stuff should of come in between content patches, the term ‘new feature patch’ does not put this patch in the right context.
