September Fix Patch
Temporary content is…..wait for it…. content.
They keyword you’re ignoring is in fact “content.” If it wasn’t content it wouldn’t be called “content.” Temporary or otherwise. Temporary simply describes the type of content it is. Ie – limited time. We also have recurring content. It’s still content, it just only returns during set periods – like Halloween or Wintersday. Then you have permanent content which is “always on” so to speak.
It’s all content. Stop saying it isn’t, just because it’s not your preferred type of content.
While it exists yes it is content. When it ceases to be contained within the container (the game in this instance) it no longer qualifies as the contents of that container.
Its a matter of verb tense. Is vs was. Something that is accessible within the live game is content. Something that is not accessible within the game is not, though if it was previously accessible then at that time it was content.
This has nothing to do with whether or not the content in question is my preferred type of content. Some of the content that has been removed was among my favorite. The fact that I liked it doesn’t change that it is no longer contained within the game.
It is still content, it’s just not accessible. Unless they actually delete the assets, it still exists.
But for arguments sake, we’ll just go with your thought line – that it’s only content while it is in the game and accessible. This still refutes the claims that Anet has not released or worked on “any content.” People ignore “temporary content” simply because it is not their cup of tea. Doesn’t magically make it “not content” though.
You’ve made mention that people are mislabeling you. Let me be the first to label you something you can’t escape when it comes to this argument, wrong. Just because it’s mentioned in the database doesn’t mean they’ve worked on it. For example, we can’t give cryptic credit for “working” on the new warlock class they recently released during the time the class wasn’t available simply because someone found a single file called warlock. That’s a logical fallacy. For example right now I’m sure that the code in GW2 has all kinds of mentions of things they haven’t touched since launch, files that have all kinds of unmentionables but until they are actually in the game and those files are complete they couldn’t possibly be considered content.
Oh and as to the statement you’ve made about temporary content still being content, it’s not when it’s gone, thus the complaints. When it’s gone it’s no longer in the game therefore it’s no longer content. so when people have made mention that there’s an expansions worth of content, there isn’t really just like there isn’t a full glass of water when you’ve emptied it.
And you know, I wouldn’t mind new professions or races. I wouldn’t mind new zones either. I have nothing against any of these things.
Any ones in particular? What was your favorite Guild Wars profession and/or combination of professions? What’s the closest thing to that in GW2? What’s your favorite class from any other game, and could something similar be incorporated into this game? What new zones would you like to see? Would you prefer to stay on the current in-game map, with all its currently unexplored areas, or revisit distant lands from the old game – or sail the unknown seas of Tyria to a land never before seen?
the answer is….
martial artist! (monk in other games)
Oh one thing, how could I have forgotten. That totally validates a completely baseless claim that they’ve done nothing for two years, and second claim that they’ve done nothing permanent.
/rollseyes
I made no such claims, and have in fact stated the exact opposite on multiple occasions.

Your entire post was just to attack someone for trying to explain something, and it’s even filled with subjective views on things. Just because you see it one way doesn’t mean others have to either.
Your mentioning of stuff in the data code that has not yet been released came from nowhere. What he mentions isn’t stuff in the code not released, but the temporary content that was taken out after the duration. These are most definitely content as they have a chance of coming back, like how they brought back the Crown Pavilion due to its apparent popularity amongst the events.
While what you say about temporary content can be true in the general sense, it still doesn’t mean Anet hasn’t released any content either. True, the LS season 1 and the events are temporary, but there are other contents that are permanent. These include Fractals of the Mists, new sPvP maps, Edge of the Mists, Southsun, and of course Dry Top. Could you really say you wouldn’t buy these as a set if they were being sold as an expansion rather than released freely individually?
Don’t mistake expansion level content and a whole new campaign.
You’ve made mention that people are mislabeling you. Let me be the first to label you something you can’t escape when it comes to this argument, wrong.
Unless you have magically changed the definition of what “content” actually is, I am not wrong. It is not about whether it is available right now or not, that is beyond the point. The fact of the matter is that those claiming that Anet has “worked on nothing” and “released no new content” is blatantly false.
Just because it’s mentioned in the database doesn’t mean they’ve worked on it. For example, we can’t give cryptic credit for “working” on the new warlock class they recently released during the time the class wasn’t available simply because someone found a single file called warlock. We weren’t discussing what exists in the data file but hasn’t been implemented. Now in regards to temporary content which has reached its expiration date, it is still content. It still exists. It’s just not available. In the right environment, with the right commands, it could be rebooted. That’s how automated holidays and events work.
Just because something is not available right now does not make it not content. By that logic, Lyssa is not content when her quest chain is not running.
I understand what they are complaining about. However, by their own logic, permanent static content that doesn’t see play is also “not content.” Which is also, blatantly false.
By the logic being set forth Wintersday is not content. Halloween is not content. Dragon Bash is not content. DE’s that are not active are not content. Empty maps are not content. That’s just laughable.

But that’s how the argument wants to be structured, so why not just bow out and let it be wrong? There’s no stopping it at this point. Let them figure it out on their own.
I’ve got other stuff to be doing anyway. Like deconstructing “Clash of Clans” to figure out just where it goes so terribly wrong.
I think the September ‘Feature Pack’ is awesome! It finally fixes and adjusts things that have been needed.
It is a shame & ANET should be embarrassed that this what they present to us for a 2 year anniversary…fixes, updates, balances and oh, a backpack!
I guess the rumors are true, we wont see any real content added to the game, or continuation of the crafting professions until ANET (NCSoft) see’s their quarterly profits dropping. If we are all happy and spending money on them, whey should they give us the good stuff before they need to?
I still have some hope that something interesting still has yet to be announced, but not holding my breath.
At the same time, i would like to thank ANET developers for doing a lot of hard work and making a great game. I’m sure there are certain restrictions on what you can deliver to the community, being held up by upper management.
Wintersday and Halloween are recurring seasonal thingees. “They’ll be back.” ~ the Termigolem. Living Story S1 temporary content? Not so much. Not only was it a bad idea, it was a sad and demoralizing waste of time and resources which could have been used to make the game grow in a constructive ‘Hey, now there’s even more stuff to swing a sword at than there was at launch!’ kind of way, with the added benefit that we here, today, would not still be contemplating the (no longer existent) navel of non-seasonal temporary content.

Some settling of contents may occur. Contents sold by weight, not volume.
Most of the items you listed off that aren’t in this update are because they are content. This is not a content update, this is a feature pack. Content updates usually, but not exclusively, take the forum of living world updates or festivals.
So these new low level weapons are a feature and not new content?

and of course, it’s new content no one asked for…………adding yet another “tier” of gear, with minor stat bumps too small to help someone level noticeably easier than the tier below it.
completely USELESS “feature”…..unnecessary developer “busy work”.
i rarely hear complaints of difficulty leveling…..but when there is, its because of the poorly implemented/designed trait system revamp deprives new players (w/o silver reserves) of useful traits, and stunts their stat growth far more than this new tier of gear can overcome.
honestly, so far the announced “features” have been incredibly underwhelming.

Well, there’s been a kind of artificial difficulty in leveling because of the new trait system getting you started on traits a lot late than it used to.
Think of the feature pack as they are trying to fix things that should have been fixed before the game was released. So that way by feature pack 28 and the Zhaitan fight finally being fix, we will be officially out of beta.
