Looking at the “amazing” year 2013, this doesn’t mean much. I’d rather see you guys promise less, but start to deliver.

I’d much rather they just didn’t use superlatives.

The game itself speaks louder than meaningless cheerleading.

Nah, they cancelled that. Would be too UP for Warriors.

Rangers are long dead, bro. Do like everyone else and make a warrior or guardian, classes that anet care about.

I’m thinking things like:

1 – Guild Halls
2 – Player Housing

3 – Some kind of clothing/skin locker (with all our old earned skins such as past holiday/LS events being there exactly like the AP chest skins)

4 – More opened maps
5 – More added to the PS with the dragons

Any or all of this stuff would make 2014 great for me. A lot of polish has been done to the game since launch and some annoying things have been done away with (example, holding right mouse to turn selecting enemies and such).

They have also done all of the backbone work to all of the holiday events as well as have practice with the living stories. So really if we think about it, 2014 SHOULD bring us some exciting things.

Well, you can’t blame people for taking declarations of awesomeness with a bit of scepticism. I’m the first to hope that they actually deliver this year, though, since 2013 was a bit underwhelming.

I’d say it’s the people who stick around the forums just to post snarky little comments about how the game sucks are the ones who bring the community down, alongside those who attack every little critisism.

I found it ironic that there were Wildstar adds displayed in the background on twitter.

Well surprise me mr developer. Expansion is the only way to make it an amazing year. And hell yes I would pay big bucks for it.

So my first question is who are these people?
Second is why they started the hype now?
In an ideal universe the hype should start very close to the actual release of information. Hopefully it is not a release a bit, wait 2 months release a dribble wait 2 months until people get frustrated and dissapointed that it was not what they where seeing in their heads.

Return of Zephyr Sanctum
Rehashed holidays
Cooking and JC to 500

The next Living Story will feature Scarlet’s twin sister Ruby…..

But gw2 has a lot of logical people behind it and a huge amount of potential.
Any indication of the potential being realised gets me excited.
Looking forward to it!

Big year brings to mind many thing…Expansion, actual obtainable legendaries and ascended gear for WvW players… New WvW maps… These are all pipe dreams.

I have all kinds of ideas and I’m having hard time because of all the “big updates” in 2013 which have essentially added a dead zone to the game…

Of course something big could go both ways, they could just drop WvW from the game considering the state of neglect it feels most of the time.

Atleast i surely hope that’s the case, as is currently i wouln’t think an extra class is going to be a ton of a success with how the current meta in PvP works not to mention that not everything in WvW is viable.

Ofcourse you can make everything work, but there’s only so much you can do against certain classes that are just better. After you hit the skillcap some classes will always end up excelling end of the day.

nothing is more exciting than a guild wars expansion whether it’s the first or second game….what could it be?

Yeah. I mostly stay here for my friends and RP now. I’ll believe the Devs have added something awesome to the game the day after it goes live (to give them time to hot-fix issues and bugs).

And if it’s a reward that’s awesome? I’ll avoid touching it, for fear that it’s going to be called an exploit and people will get banned for it.

Also, unless you fix all the Dynamics Events currently bugged or make a true profession balance, any new content (including a full-permanent expansion) will be pointless.

Same goes for you, don’t give Anet any ideas it’s ok to postpone new content again this year in favour of QoL and bug fixes to stuff that shouldn’t have been necessary in the first place…

As for the hype here, this was a Twitter chat between two of TTH guys as a humorous reply to DragonSeason saying Anet were on the ball again. That some random guy posts it on reddit and causes a landslide isn’t their fault, and LewisB previously also said the same about sitting on really exciting news back before the Tower of Nightmare… Like many others… And that got the hype machine rolling too… People should take it with a grain of salt and neither assume dragons, expansions etc. even though i’m famished for just that myself as well.

If anything, Anet could use this thread as a measure that the LS doesn’t come close to providing the same excitement as an expansion – of permanent content. The 2013 LS probably had a small expansion’s worth of content, the problem is that the majority of it is no longer in game…

This game is the fastest selling MMO of all time and has had rave reviews. You have wierd expectations.

I would take a GW1 expansion over a gw2 expansion. Hands down, any year.
There’s a reason that game lasted 7 years strong, and that reason wasn’t carried over to gw2.
