The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome
now… most of my choices are pvp related. and few pve choices are not only restricted to specific areas, but also there are times when I litteraly don’t have enough choices to begin with. like today. there are 4 pve options. rest are pvp. only 2 of them are solo casual friendly. one is high end crafting, which I cannot do yet (I’ve been leveling up my crafting slowly, but its nowhere near max. crafting system in GW2 is not casual friendly either) and the other is fractals. which is dedicated group kinda needed activity.
honestly? I’m seriously disliking new daily system. to the point of wondering if I should just move on again. I understand that it was supposed to make dailies friendlier? in my case it made them FAR less so then before. :/What’s this high end crafting you are talking about?
mythic forge. craft one mythic forge item. it might not be ascended crafting but its still more than I can currently do.
there was a great post on one of the previous pages. like that other person, i used to log in and while accomplishing daily and filling up my map, I would end up playing a lot longer then I may have planned. nowadays, I log in… get my log in reward… look at the daily track… and lose steam. I mean… I could still go and fill up the maps, but I enjoyed the multitasking feel of the dailies before.
Let me ask you straight up. Why do you think you can’t use the mystic forge? What do you think it stopping you?

Or buy 4 green sigils or runes on the TP (less than 1s) and throw those 4 into the forge to get another green or even a yellow and – with luck – you might even make a small profit.

You don’t need any crafting skills to use the mystic forge . Just take the next four pieces of blue equipment you loot (or four pebbles from your material storage) and drop them in the forge (on any character) and you are done.
Mystic forger really is one of the quickest, easiest and most-inclusive dailies there is once you realize how the forge works .
This ^^ Mystic Forge daily is one of the easiest dailies to do. You don’t have to craft an item (one of the big exotic ones) just toss 4 minor sigils or 4 random blue items and you will get it.
Sounds like some players just needed some hints and short-cuts for them dailies.
I don’t like the new dailies. I get to play for only an hour or 2 and not everyday. I am a trucker and have to use truck-stops WiFi. Not the best in the world I dc alot . So for the hour or two that I have I spend all of it on just the daily. Need to do logging where did the trees go that day why are there so few? I spend at least 1/2 hour looking for what ever needs to be done that day trees rocks or the plants.
I don’t like PvP or WvW too much bullying going up there. I don’t even have the title “Been there done That” because of mean rude players in those 2 zones. I can’t do bosses because of the WiFi problem at truckstops. Too many people in one area and I really dc ALOT. Besides the boss I might need may not show up for another 4 hours I AM NOT GOING TO DRIVE A 40 TON TRUCK TIRED!!!! I will go to bed first before waiting on a boss. Why do we have to do W V W or P V P? Why aren’t there more options? Why must I spend what time I have just on Daily? I don’t understand why the changes everyone one well a few people think are so great.
if you know the situation Moon.1496 is in i feel where he is coming from. i used to get penalized alot in pvp gw1 being long haul trucker. though now i can be home for weekends and dont have a laptop anymore i dont play most weekdays. it is a big hassle with wifi and understand Monn’s status. hang in there . your a real loyal player.
Another thing to point out from my perspective:
When i used to log in before and map open and do events, etc on a given map, I’d get my dailies done at the same time.
For the last few days I’ve been forcing myself to play the game some more (in the hopes of finding the things i loved about it again) and in the process of running the toon i wanted to play on the map i wanted to play on I either didn’t complete a single task for the daily or maybe one of them if it had something to do with the zone (Ascalon lumberer).
The key thing i want to point out here are these words: " in the process of running the toon i wanted to play on the map i wanted to play on".
Notice I didn’t say, “play a toon with access to the modes and maps Anet wanted me to go to”. I really don’t know what is so hard for some (and Anet) to understand about this simple fact. Even if i WANTED those AP, the fact still remains that I want to get them by playing the game in the manner I most enjoy, which is what i used to be able to do and cannot do more often than not after this change.

Why should the daily reward for completing the three avhievements be rewarded to players who passively go for them by playing in whatever manner they prefer? How’s it any different than just awarding the players by playing the game in whatever manner they prefer when they play at least 30 minutes or some other arbitrary amount of time?
How about they take the achievement that tracks your progress and create 3 tiers that each reward AP. Each tier requires you to complete any daily achievement. Tiers 1 and 2 reward 3 AP while tier 3 rewards 4 AP. Players can get partial rewards of AP without having to complete all three achievements.

That’d be lovely, actually. I had all of a half-hour to an hour last night, so I couldn’t be bothered to do dailies. I did the two easy-easy ones for the loot boxes (/shrug) and I didn’t mind not getting AP, but with the idea you laid out, I would have at least gotten 6.
Make it 2/2/6 or 1/1/8 for all I care, but partial credit would be more polite than the system we have currently.

Why should the daily reward for completing the three avhievements be rewarded to players who passively go for them by playing in whatever manner they prefer?
Because that’s how it was before?
Because we kept saying that more choices should be given to people that play WvW or PvP exclusively so they didn’t have to also do PvE if they didn’t want to?
Because after all of that has been said over and over in the community that Anet decided to give fewer choices per mode that were easily attainable to make people play more modes that they don’t want to and its frustrating?

i actually quite like the new daily system, theres much less you HAVE to do to get the full ap amount so if you are busy you can at least not miss out on that and you are still insentivised to go for other daily achievements for the chest reward

Only PvE lost options while the others gained two. I suggested a solution that would allow players to play however they wanted. Players are no longer forced into an all or nothing scenario regarding AP which may be one of the root issues. Players can play how they normally would and then complete any achievements that they didn’t already do at the end of their play session. Completing just two achievements would award 6 AP which should be fairly close to the average people earned in the old system. On any give day, at least two achievements are relatively quick to complete (e.g. Crafting, forging, scavenging, vista).
This change would also amount into the least amount of work, in my opinion, for Anet as all they’re doing is modifying a single achievement by adding 3 tiers and then distributing the 10 AP amongst them.
The best thing about the old system was how flexible it was. You didn’t have to go out of your way to do something very specific, or worse, tied to a certain time of day. You could play along as you normally would and do events, gathering, rezzing, dodging … in any zone you want! It was great! I like the new log-in rewards, but I wished they’d keep the AP system as it is – even if it means I would get less AP than I do now!
Again, if you want to entice people to try out different game content, you have to add more rewards instead of removing the players’ options and/or forcing them!

This sums it up. Add to that the fact that the old dailies were friendlier for alts and new players. I mean, how do you expect someone who just started the game to go to higher level areas?
There are still rooms for improvement, they could make the new dailies fun like the old. But as of now: Old Dailies > New Dailies.

That’s true, as far as it goes.
I bought a new account and my highest char was level 3 when I checked the dailies.
One was Ascalon miner. Doable because my new level 3 Sylvari knew how to get to LA then to Ascalon and then where to go to get ore (the low level areas don’t have nodes).
The other 2 were impossible for her to do. One was daily master of ruins. This unlocks at level 18. The other was daily PvP reward winner. PvP unlocks at level 22. To get her 10 achieve points she is required to do content that is locked all the way to level 22.
If a new person sees these dailies and wants to do them to get the rewards and achieve points it’s completely impossible for them to do so and I imagine it’s frustrating to see that it can’t be done until level 22. The carrot is dangling too far out of reach.
What good are dailies that are literally impossible to do?

The content is available, though – the interface just doesn’t provide the buttons and you’re not told about the game modes … NPE is horrible …
The keyboard shortcuts, though, should work …
Hit “b” to get the WvW menu and you should be able to enter the borderlands this way
The PvP panel doesn’t have a default shortcut, I think. I set up Shift + B under options to get it.
By using those shortcuts you should be able to access WvW and PvP at level 2. Of course … nothing a really new user would be able to use/set up/comprehend …

I had forgotten about the key option for WvW and didn’t know (after 2 and 1/2 years of playing) that there was a PvP key option. So I logged in to check.
B, to get into WvW, did not work. Nothing happened when I hit it. I set up a key for PvP and tried it. Again nothing happened. When I mouse over the two icons, they say "this feature is locked until level 18 (WvW), level 22 (PvP).
So I made my way to the portals in LA to WvW. Those did work. Of course though, I was an upleveled with my earliest utility skill available at level 13 and no traits and no weapon swapping (level 15). I checked about the weapon swapping in WvW. I was unable to equip an alternate weapon set.
So even though theoretically I could do WvW (not likely but not impossible), PvP is out of reach and that makes the dailies literally undoable until at some unknown time when more options become available to a new char on a new account.

The point I wish to make here is not the details of what unlocks when or how long someone might play before these things unlock. What I’m pointing out is that a new person should not be presented with impossible choices as their part of the daily. If WvW or PvP is locked and unavailable, then that should not be an option.
It was bad enough to expect a brand new person to figure out how to get to a completely new starter zone clear on the other side of the map. Having choices that are unavailable is unacceptable. It is poorly designed.

First of all you’re on a level 3 character. I was under the impression you only had to do one daily at level 3, but even if you didn’t, it takes minutes, literally minutes, to get to level 5 or 6 or 7. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half if you’re slow to get to level 15.
Doing dailies on someone’s first character on a new account isn’t going to be the priority for most people, or really anyone I can think of. They’re learning the game and leveling. They’ll have plenty of time to do dailies.
On your second character, your WvW and PvP will work when you have one character leveled high enough.

On my level 3 character I was required to do all 3 to get the 10 AP and the full daily rewards. Not one, 3. I did one and progressed the bar by one/third.
Whether or not the dailies are a priority is irrelevant. I am pointing out a design flaw. I should never be presented with impossible things to do as my options. If the game gives me dailies and suggests I do them, then they should be something I can do.
The point about a second character is irrelevant. I am talking about choices given to a new starting account.
What people don’t get is it’s not fun and the dailies feel forced.
ANet did say they didn’t want to force people into doing stuff they didn’t really want to do. Forced to wait 2 hours for Frozen Maw/SB/Claw or whatever. Forced to use a higher level character just to do a daily in Cursed Shore.
And yeah, I’ve already heard the “You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to” phrase. Please, this is just plain rude and goes to show you never think of how the other person feels. And it sounds condescending, it’s like people who say this are thinking “Shut up and just play the game you ^&^& whiners”. People who say this probably never thought that ANet wanted the game to be fun for people and they did mention that they don’t want people to be forced to do stuff. Yes, I could just pop on a main or a high level alt and do the dailies, the dailies forces me to do so, but for me it’s not fun anymore.
The old dailies weren’t forced. I liked it because while I was doing normal stuff, I knew I was getting dailies done. For example, “Shiverpeaks Events Completer”, what I’d do is choose a Shiverpeaks area which I haven’t fully explored and do events that I come across while getting waypoints, vistas, POI and hearts. It was great because I got to do my dailies which I wanted to do and also got to explore. The old dailies didn’t force you out of doing stuff you wanted to do in the game, the new one does. I don’t look at timers nor follow the world bosses. If a world boss happens to spawn when I’m in an area, or a guildmate messages in guild chat that a boss is about to spawn and I’m not busy, then I’ll kill that boss, get my rewards, then go on my merry way.
And there were far more options. I was actually content with just doing 5 and getting dailies done, I didn’t need to do the 10 dailies. I would be fine with the new dailies if they just gave more options, and options which alts can actually do.
Furthermore, for me the dailies are incentives for leveling alts. Leveling a character is more enjoyable if you actually play that character. You get the feel of how it works, how to use their skills, how to play them. Doing dailies for the writ then passing it on to the alt is boring IMHO. You can level that alt without ever playing it. Why don’t I do that then? It’s boring. Why not do dailies on a high level character, then play that alt after you’re done? I want that alt to get the exp while doing stuff. Events give exp, exploring gives exp, mining/harvesting gives exp, killing gives exp. I don’t want these exp on a character that doesn’t need it. I want it on that alt. And I don’t have the luxury of time to grind my alt just to level him. I’d prefer having a goal, which is the dailies, while leveling that alt.
And about the arguments where new players are just learning the game, what if that new player had someone to guide them. What if that vet player told that new player about the dailies? That new player wouldn’t be able to do it if one of them was something like Cursed Shore Events Completer. I doubt his vet friend could protect him that well to bring him to CS and actually be able to do events.

I don’t even look at the daily’s anymore I just take the bag of the day and go on. I used to like to do my daily’s, not any more, complete waste of time.

Agreed. If the dailies are presented as an option to do on the screen, they should be doable. The old system allowed that, the new does not in the specific circumstances Astral refers to. It’s not the end of the world, but it is a flaw.

Agreed. If the dailies are presented as an option to do on the screen, they should be doable. The old system allowed that, the new does not in the specific circumstances Astral refers to. It’s not the end of the world, but it is a flaw.
Perhaps it could be reworked a little so that the 3 achievements can be done without the restriction set by the NPE. A brand new players will not know about the other methods to gain access to these areas.
I like and dislike some of the things about this new daily system. I love the log in and get stuff thing. Haha, who doesn’t? But for the actual dailies, I really wish we had more pve choices. Keep it so that you get your 10 achievement points when you complete the daily (and don’t reward achievement points for each option of the daily so that achievement hunters aren’t getting burned out). But give us more options again. It makes me sad that we are back to much fewer options. Before I used to get the daily done naturally just playing the game.
Oh and please change the events daily option. Currently it’s limited to one map and then there are TONS of people running around that map. Just make it “do 4 events in Kryta/Ascalon/Maguuma” instead. That way it’s spread across a region and you don’t have a million people clogging up one zone.
The new dailies, overall, are great! Only two things need to be done:
A) dailies should scale to account level – so an account with a max level character of 20 should only get dailies that are possible to complete at that level.
B) There NEEDS to be a 4th category “Dungeons.” All fractal dailies should go in this category and new dailies that involve doing other dungeons, such as “complete a path in the Twilight Arbor” should be added to this category. Or you can finally make dungeons scale so we can solo or duo or trio or whatever them all – that I would actually prefer

agreed, the only way today to get them done by just doing pve, we have to go into fractals.
What the hell Anet? -_-
TWO fractal related daily options for the pve section today? This is exactly the reason why we need more PVE options. Some of us do not like fractals/dungeons. Now for me, I sometimes do WvW so I supposed I can complete my daily doing that. But I greatly prefer to just do pve for dailies. And there are people who don’t do WvW, they are pretty much screwed and can’t do the daily today. Please stop taking away our choices.

I agree. Even if nothing else changes, a new player should not be presented with an optional task that s/he will not be able to do, even if it only affects her/him for a day or two.
Lets hear it for double fractals.
Ended up in WvW banding together with four other people that didn’t want to be there either to finish the dailies. We managed to chase an enemy off and then flee to waypoint once we reached out

I agree with everyone saying NO! to double fractals, Hopefully its a mishap in the coding of dailies and they fix it…SOON.

At that level, on a new account, they don’t suggest you do them. The flaw here is in your thinking. You’re trying to find a flaw where one doesn’t exist.
Is the daily thing on the right side of the screen viewable to lowbie characters/new accounts? I can’t remember and I also leveled before all this new leveling stuff occurred anyway. Because if it is viewable I’d say that’s a huge flaw and certainly not something s/he made up.

It’s not viewable on level 3. You have to go look for it.
must have misread mystic forge explanation before. What’s this high end crafting you are talking about?
mythic forge. craft one mythic forge item. it might not be ascended crafting but its still more than I can currently do.
You don’t have to craft an item (one of the big exotic ones) just toss 4 minor sigils or 4 random blue items and you will get it.
that said… today is one fractal.. and 4 fractals. as you can probably see, I’m not exactly a “leet” player. so soloing is out of the question. according to my friend and the only person I know that still plays GW2 – we can’t really 2 man it either.
I also happen to be that dreaded person that plays ranger with a longbow. I enjoy that playstyle the most, that playstyle was pat of the reason I bought the game in a first place. but it seems that playstyle is… frowned upon, to put it mildly. in other words… pugging seems to be out of the question as well. 4 pve options. 2 of which are mandatory set group rather then meet people in the wild team up without grouping up and then move on, something that I found to be very different and very attractive about GW2 initially.
I’m still not entirely sure who thought that limiting dailies to specific areas and giving so few pve options was a good idea.

I’m pretty sure that there was a big panel that popped up after I clicked on my wiggle chest, showing me which dailies are available for me to do, and that I clicked on the ones I wanted to show on the side of the screen. I’ll have to check tomorrow after reset, but if it’s there then they are definitely suggesting that I do them.
I’m pointing out a design flaw where an account is presented with impossible choices as its set of the dailies. Your rebuttal that the daily isn’t required or that they won’t want to do them or wont notice them, is completely beside the point that I’m making, is wrong if there is the daily choice panel, and is irrelevant either way.
I wanted do the daily on that account and was prevented from doing it because it was literally impossible. Other people have bought second accounts. If they want to do the dailies on them with their new char, they also are prevented. How is that not a design flaw?
An account, at any level, should never be presented with options for the daily that are impossible to do.

I refuse to do content I don’t like. Instead, I just log off and resent the fact that I’m denied completing my daily achievements just because I want to play where and how I wish to instead of the way ANet wants me to. I find myself doing that a lot more since the new daily achievements were implemented.
The other night we had low level, new players complaining in chat about all the level 80’s in the starter zone zerging all the events. I don’t blame them either. I remember disliking it when one or two would dominate an event, let alone a level 80 zerg where new players are lucky to get in a hit on a mob before it dies.
I used to love doing the daily achievements. It took longer, but we got them done while playing naturally, where and how we wanted to play. Now it feels like a chore. You either do them, or do without.
For those complaining about double fractal dailies today (yeah, I agree it stinks) – just queue up EOTM @ start time (starts every 4 hours, 2 or 3 minutes past the hour – example 10:03 am) and all you have to do for land claimer is, well, take a piece of land. Bridges, land in between bridges, control points, etc. If red, quickly move to the first control point with the masses (in between the first two bridges) – that counts. If green, ignore all the people climbing the tower and head to the right of the tower to the bridge (wait for the masses to arrive to be nice) – that counts. If blue… I forget what the first land claimer is – might take a bit longer than red or green maybe someone can help out and post what that is

That is not correct. I bought a new account two days ago. I got the wiggly login chest and then a screen popped up showing me which dailies to do (the same as Astral Projections). Of course I knew how to get to Lion’s Arch and then to EotM and had fun there (after that you can use the shortcut even though I was still below the NPE level) but for a new player it may be confusing. That would not be so bad (after all finding out things is part of what I like in games), were it not that the NPE was introduced to lessen confusion.
I got a friend who just started and apparently you can’t do dailies until you’re level 11, and you have to do 3 to get the Daily Completionist done. Unfortunately you’re only presented with one PvE, one PvP and one WvW daily. Funny thing is, you can’t enter PvP until level 18 and you can’t enter WvW until level 22.

We-hell, that might work for some people who have a lot of free time available to wait for EoTM reset or to wait at spawn until the zerg beams home but it’s not for everyone. In addition to that EoTM Mobs are hard to solo – especially so the Kodan.
To get the land claimer you’re much easier off with regular WvW as the guards there can easily be killed by a level 2 with a ranged weapon.
Why should the daily reward for completing the three avhievements be rewarded to players who passively go for them by playing in whatever manner they prefer?
Because turning it into a chore results in less fun.

The daily login popup screen shows dailies for every levels. Daily UI information shows at level 11 (from what i remember). WvW access is restricted (unless you know how to circumvent it) till level 18, and PvP access is restricted till level 22.
You were saying?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Meh.
There’s twelve dailies. You need to do 3. Most of the dailies happen so far you barely notice you had a daily for that (Ruins, PvP kills, point captures, gathering, etc).
I have yet to see a day where I even remotely thought the daily was in any way an effort to get. Also, even then it’s not like the new dailies offer anything which depends on doing the meta every day (specifically).
Honestly, dailies is unfair for new players how it presently is and here is why: While Anet wants new players to buy the game and play, there are dailies, vistas, story, etc. However, due to their level they are limited from many things that are hanging in their faces and they don’t know why. Many assume they are broken and ask in chat until someone says they have to wait til a certain level. This leaves them feeling like “What? Why do I have to wait? It says it right there!” The way to fix this would be to have more than just 3 or 4 options for dailies in PvE since they cannot do WvW or PvP til a certain level (I believe it says for WvW it unlocks at lvl 18 and for PvP it unlocks at level 22 – hotkey is not accessible til then). However you can circumvent that by taking the portal to the Mysts in Lion’s Arch one you discover Lion’s Arch. Still, how many new players know that? I have come across new players who are quite frustrated with starting out as a new player in GW2 now. Back when I started 2 years ago it was not frustrated at all.
Idea: Perhaps different dailies for low levels? I know that if you have everyone able to do simple things that everyone would choose the simple. That is why I say just for the low levels. However, even mining, gathering, etc is limited as you don’t have the tools to do those until you get them at level 9 as a level reward or find someone to buy those from (which are not in the beginner areas).

If i need to switch area, i am going to notice. If i need to go PvP for the daily, i will definitely going to notice. If i get double fractals daily (like today… again), i’m kitten well going to notice that.
I have yet to see a day where I even remotely thought the daily was in any way an effort to get.
While i think that half the time. And on remaining days i think that, while not much of an effort, it was extremely irritating to get.

It is VERY noticeable for low level players.

Hrm, so it actually smoothly scales for lower players? That’s pretty nifty. Gets people to try out WvW, PvP and go to different zones in PvE. Exactly what it is intended to do, then.

Did you even read that low levels cannot do WvW or PvP? The dailies are designed for higher levels with no consideration to new players at all.
Why are you being defensive instead of listening/reading and looking at all the detail in the image attached?
In my image it CLEARLY shows that at most a new player is able to ONLY get 1/3 of the dailies … every day.
Suggested solution?
Simple! Add more options or have separate ones for players under level 22.
Notifications and icons for WvW and PvP will be displayed at levels 18 and 22. Players can access them before this time if they already know what to do (portals or hotkey)
New players do not know how to do that however they do see in achievements the dailies they cannot do. Even if someone walks them into WvW or PvP chances are high they will get ganked as skilled WvW & PvP players target players lower then 80 (they have a down arrow beside their level beside their name meaning they are lower than 80).
Thus the dailies for players under level 22 are extremely unrealistic unless they already have a higher level toon to switch to. With the weekend sale that just passed there are a lot of new players who are becoming frustrated. So instead of arguing, these things should be taken into consideration and rectified.
