I just realized how rarely I do jumping puzzles these days. And I love jumping puzzles! Back when they were in the rotation for dailies I had an extra excuse to leave WvW or farming world bosses and go jump around for a bit. I feel that bringing jp dailies back into the rotation for the pve category would be a great thing. Right now I doubt that many new players are seeking out jumping puzzles as much as if there was occasionally a daily incentive.

Yes, I find I dont do nearly as many as I used to now

Tbh, Id be surprised if new players had even heard of them since the death of the Daily.

In case some people don’t realize it, there are private PvP rooms now set up just to get dailies done. They usually say Dailies, No Trolling or something like that. Even though I’m mostly a PvE player I often end up getting dailies there because its’ faster and cooperative.

Today 3 people let me kill them for my daily player kills, I capped a point and won on a guardian all in one game, without PvPing at all. Just saying.

For people like me who gets stressed in an unpleasant way by PvP, yes. It is fun. People are chatting and taking turns. It’s friendly, which is how I like to play. I especially don’t like being singled out as a poor PvP player (which I am and I’m unlikely ever to improve at my age, health and temperament)

So, today I ran in WvW after the dailies posted and got my AP after about 30-60 minutes of playing and thought to myself… gee, I sure wish I could slowly get my daily AP by eating away at the achievements with my usual play in PvE instead of having a disjointed play session of hopping around zones.

I should check those private PvP rooms sometime, Vayne, sounds like it is a lot more enjoyable than the PvP I did to get the back piece.

Jumping puzzles are too confusing for new players.

I know they are, I’ve recently helped 2 new players through the Lion’s Arch jump puzzles. One was level 40 the other was level 80 and neither of them even knew jump puzzles existed in the game despite the NPE ‘telling’ you about them. A daily jump puzzle every now and then would be nice since it would actually bring a new players attention to the fact they even exist. Not to mention, bring players back to an aspect of the game that is no generally left unexplored because the chest at the end just isn’t enough incentive to do them when you can get 20x the amount of stuff in Silverwastes in the same time frame.

PS, both of them thoroughly enjoyed the puzzles (including the troll’s end) while being frustrated at the same time. Sad that they didn’t have a daily to introduce them, the only reason why I did is because they couldn’t figure out how to get the Vista at the Shark’s Maw jump puzzle because they had no fore knowledge that you could find hidden places by jumping on things.

I know it has been said often, but I think it is about time to repeat it.

Today is Brisbane as a zone. I understand the intention behind the zone-bound event-collector daily, but they are so bad in their current form. If you send people to a zone for doing events, make sure they work and make sure they scale.

I did my dailies during breakfast time here in germany (shortly after 7 in the morning). There were 50ish players in the zone instance I was in and even on a staff mesmer I had a tough time tagging foes in events. There is a defense event near Mrot Boru, where the inquest attacks a golem lab in waves. I struggled to tag the event since even when laying my staff 5 aoe field the inquest mobs died so quickly that the field didn’t even tick once.

Please fix the events of those zones which host dailies. I cannot believe that there are still broken escort events, horribly scaled events, events that don’t even count… They must have been reported to you so often, you cannot be not aware of them.

I used to love the event dailies. I always did them in the past. With the new system I’ve been getting more and more unpleasured by them. The last couple of days the very thought of doing them with the other level 80s was so unpleasant that I’ve started skipping them and doing something else.

The only daily events I do nowadays are those in World Boss zones. Usually World Bosses have enough pre-events for the daily, and if not, since people are just waiting for the World Boss to spawn, other events are easier to find and do. Less competition for event participation.

For zones without a World Boss? Tough luck

There are some event chains that can let you finish a daily on their own and it’s good to wait for them instead of running around. For example, the event chain with the Bears in Wayfarer Foothills (the one that starts with dolyak meat and ends with a bear invasion) is a 100% chance to finish the daily without porting around the zone. Of course doing the daily this way is only possible with good knowledge of the zone events.

I looked over a friend’s shoulder today as he was doing the Brisban WLands events task. He was at the event where there are mobs coming from an Asura gate (yet another Asura experiment gone wrong, who knew). His and a few other characters were standing on the gate, attacking with their melee cleave abilities. Every once in a while a mob outline would appear, he’d get some XP, and the mob would disappear. Throughout the event, I saw no mob attacks at all. They didn’t last long enough.

What amazing game-play! How fun! If this were an aberration, that would be one thing, but it’s not. It’s the norm. MMO developers have managed to pull a lot of different reactions from me over the years, from amazement to wonder to surprise. The event daily tasks have pulled a new one, disgust.

I asked them what they were doing and they said events. I was like, huh? Events there? I had, for the first time since the game started, completely put the daily events out of my mind, like finally breaking a bad habit. And it felt good.

Strangely yes. It was fun for me to see the community coming together to overcome specific issues in a cooperative manner. That’s fun.

And I met some cool people there, so that was fun. But more than that, it was fast. With the old achievements, getting interrupts wasn’t fun for me, and neither was dodging, but I did them anyway to get them done.

I’m not sure achievements were particularly fun for me (except the jumping puzzle ones because I love jumping puzzles).

On the other hand, getting my entire daily in ten minutes gives me the rest of my playtime complete free.

Hm, the community also has to overcome issues e.g. introduced with megaservers (taxi ftw.) and it does so.

I can see that it is nice to see people working around a problem, but I’d like to see the issue finally fixed even more.

I think it is much more enjoyable to play a game in the first place than to fight a game in order to be able to play it.

Nobody complains in this thread that the game is too hard. It is too irritating. Difficulty doesn’t even enter the picture here. It’s just something that lessens the fun i still have in this game.

Actually several people complain that Living Story is too hard lol. That’s why it was nerfed several times. People also complained AC was too hard, so it was nerfed as well. People complain about everything hehe.

THIS!

Stop slotting those two together or get rid of one and indeed bring back the jumping daily.
Or add another boss, maybe in Orr.
The fractal daily is already high level only, but most people just don´t have the time for a whole kitten fractal run.
Or the will to put up with a pug in those things.

New daily system is great EXCEPT for spvp! Remove all spvp dailies that aren’t win x games or kill x players, getting people on your team who are playing classes they have no idea how to play or are double/triple capping a node just to complete a daily isn’t fun. There should NOT be PVP related dailies that encourage you to do things that DON’T help your team win.

I’m not sure what’s with all the complaints about the PVE dailies, please don’t listen to those people anet.

For example, the fractal daily is really good as you get another free pristine fractal relic for running it, that’s so rewarding! Yet when it’s the daily people seem like that daily doesn’t exist? The most rewarding dailies are the ones people seem to “hate” and “avoid”, makes no sense. Dailies barely give anything besides some AP, but the actually rewarding ones that take some effort to do are ignored, lol.

Even though (like many others) I’ve disliked the new dailies since day one, I’ve not said much about them until now. I wanted to give them a really good run b4 i gave my feedback on them. I must say, I hate them more than ever! Compared to the old system, they’re terrible. Some, rare days, they’re bearable, but most days they’re horrible.

Why is it that 90% of the time, the new dailies are in noob zones, it’s so boring i can barely bring myself to do them any more. Don’t get me wrong, i love the noob zones and used to go them occasionally, but now, it’s like every day, do shadow behemont, do frozen maw, do fire ele, do jungle wurm, do events in queensdale, do events in metrica province, do events in wayfarer foothills etc, etc, ad nauseaum. Really? Why? Who thought this would be good for the game?

Every time i’ve gone to these zones to do whatever the daily is, it’s an utter zergfest regardless of the time of day. I’ve been lvling some new chars and it’s impossible to get credit for events or event to hit anything. Millions of bearbow rangers, shoot everything from mile away and as a new char all u do is run around like a headless chook, hoping to hit something.. And as a melee? forget it! even ranged u don’t stand a chance. I ask again, why is it that 90% of daily content is in noob zones? not even in 2nd zones but the very first noob zones. It’s seriously mindless and kittened to be forcing lvl 80 chars to keep doing these noob zones over and over and over day in and day out.

The other thing that i absolutely hate about theses new dailies, is how we are forced to gather 4 nodes of wood, or 4 nodes of plants or 4 nodes ore etc. So me having 3 trees in my home instance for which i payed $10 of real money and which always only give me 3 hits at these nodes and never ever an extra one, i’m still forced to pay WP to go to some map just to get 1 log? I mean really? I have to assume this was done deliberately to force people to go foraging or w/ever, but was this aggravation of your playerbase really necessary?

Solution, return some of the old daily options. Make the events region based. For maxed characters have them do bosses in maps lvl 60+. combine the gathering like it was in the old dailies, ie gather 20 of whatever in whatever region. Add more than 4 choices per category and for god sake, stop forcing my lvl 80’s to noob zones, it’s insulting. Ur making me hate them and that’s a shame b/c as i said, i normally enjoy these zones.

The problem is that people don’t know the areas. Most just go into a zone and ask in map chat where events are instead of knowing exactly where they are likely to find events.

Then everybody flocks to the same wp, everybody is afraid of not being able to tag mobs so they just spam aoe like crazy thus actually making it hard to tag those mobs.

What you could do is, have an approximate idea where events take place and just do them yourself without the blob of automatons spamming aoe all over the place.

Or just don’t do them, it’s not like you need to do them after all.

My 2 cents :

Since the introduction of the new dailies, getting my 10 AP has never been so simple.

It’s simple really. I’m going to explain this to you in a few steps :

  1. Do the gathering event and/or the mystic forge one in PvE
  2. Go to a glory farm arena and do the daily capper or daily rank points or daily PvP reward
  3. Get to a borderland and either : kill 5 guards/kill a dolyak/cap a ruin

There you have, your dailies are completed in 7 min. Just make the effort to look outside of PvE for just 5 minutes and you’ll see how easy it is. It’s not had to kill a dolyak. Just get here when it’s not rush hour and you’ll be fine.

Technically the bolded part of your statement is limitation or barrier you have set yourself so VodCom was correct.

Also you don’t need to PvP. Dailies like Big Spender do not require any PvP at all. You log in to WvW walk to a vendor, spend 25 badges of honor (if you have over 500 achievement points then you have these badges), get your daily and log back out. The Vendors are all located in the safe zone where no enemy players can get you.

Not true! You dont know me.
I will not fight other players.
I bought a PVE game to fight monsters not humans.

anet wants me to PVP, WVW and esports (ha ha). Not with me.

In most of the WvW dailies, you don’t have to fight other players. If there mere possibility that you may be attacked is bad enough for you (not blaming you), fair enough. I’ll also admit it depends on what server you are on and what is the current matchup.

However, other than that:
Big Spender – no fighting at all and not even the risk of a fight
Master of Ruins – no fighting at all
Caravan Disruptor – kill 1 NPC
Land Claimer – kill 1 NPC
(I’m a PVE player and I always do these 4 ones)

Veteran Creature Slayer – Kill 1 Veteran NPC; there are 3 in each Borderland, and every one is close to some base waypoint
Mists Guard Killer – kill 5 NPCs

Camp Capturer, Tower Capturer, Keep Capturer – these in theory only require to kill NPC, however some may be difficult to solo and they bring bigger risk of being attacked by a player

Objective Defender, Invasion Defender – only these two require fighting another players (and I’m not even sure about the first one)

The problems you have with new dailies come from barriers, fears and limitations you are imposing yourself.

True, I don’t know you. However I’ve met tons of people in game who had the same reactions as you. They said they didn’t like PvP/WvW because the very concept of player killing other players is absurd to them. I introduced some of them to rankfarm and dolyak hunt and in the end they had a lot of fun.

I never said you have to fight players. I never fight players when I go in borderlands, I just kill guards and the dolyak then leave. Most people from other servers I met while killing veteran creatures in WvW were not interested in fighting. They came, got their kill and everyone left the borderland happy.

As for Rank farm, it’s not a fight, it’s a “I cast a big AOE then I suicide by jumping into a giant hole”. A match takes 5 minutes (and you can switch your brain off during the match), there’s good coin and a quick PvP daily at the end.

The only person that is suffering from the new dailies are the ones that do not want to try something new, which saddens me a lot.

Okay, I have to revise my comment about me not doing dailies.
I do them now nearly everyday, but still with a bit of grunt.

I now have a character in every region and go for some easy mat farming, while I get the rest with PvP and the occasionaly WvW.

In that regard I can say it got me into a greater variety of gamemodes.

That is patently not true. Don’t assume that everyone that dislikes pvp does that only because they didn’t play it yet. Quite often it’s the opposite – they dislike the game mode because they already know it all too well. I know it;s like that in my case, for example – the daylies show me nothing new, but they are showing me many things i strongly dislike.

Actions, not words.
