Not sure if its true or not, but if its in Official Wiki, I am considering it as a reliable source

So here they are:

People are hoping, ArenaNet is silent. All that’s visible on the horizon are more LS episodes.

That’s wishful thinking and speculation posted by other players. It’s as valid as if you were to announce a new class. We haven’t heard anything from ArenaNet about new classes being added.
Looks like you didn’t “brake” hard enough, else you wouldn’t be stuck here with the bunch of us. :p
Jokes aside: no not a lot of new things. You might enjoy the living story, but apart from that… more skins in gem store I guess.
Nothing if you play WvW unless you took a break over 14 months.

If you take your time to read them you will see they are just posts by players without anything to base them on. They are suggestions nothing confirmed by the devs
As for new things, it depends when you took your break, but we got a big PVP revamp, 2 new maps to play on with new map-wide mechanics, lots of new item stats, new achievements.
There is a lot to do that’s for sure
Yea I’m trying to figure out the new traits etc, thank you for making that clear for me!
I was wondering where my car brake went.

Vetted the statement…. made by CJ back in January ‘14. It is December ’14 now and we haven’t heard anything more regarding it.

So can I safely assume that they might be working on it? Or was it just a blunder in an interview to impress/engage viewers?
you can safely assume that taking a break of any extended period of time is almost 1 for 1 on taking a break from Diablo 2 at this day an age.
sure someone might come out with a UI Mod or some silly weapon skins and you might forget how your skills all worked
but no matter when you left and returned the game itself has not changed. its the same quests with the same results with the same rng with the same bloated loot tables with the same classes doing the same things with the same skills and the same builds since release….
as for new classes.
if the turn around on comments and semi-promises or notes on development direction is any indication you can probably take another break or two before they announce a new class or even alternative ways to get precursors.
Bar Brawl is also probably more likely to be announced (again) before a new profession..

In short, no, nothing really new except for Living Story, and since you hadn’t logged in to unlock those other parts of LS season 2, you’ll have to pay for them in the gemstore to unlock them. Enjoy.
Oh, and don’t re-roll any level 80s you have.

So Dry Top and Silverwastes, two new maps with way more to do on them than most of the regular maps is “nothing really new”?

have they been logging in periodically before this post to unlock them for free? If not, then no, its nothing really new unless they pay for them in the gemstore.
And no, whereas the content might seem expansive for someone playing them out for the first time in one fell swoop, once they are through it and “caught up” they will also then get to experience the really small/short content along with the rest of us provided they don’t go on another hiatus.
I can’t even remember the last time i logged into drytop and spent any real time in there.

You do know that you can acces both dry top and silverwastes without having to buy gems right? The only things you ahve to pay for are the story instances if you missed to log in during those 2 weeks.
So yea, silverwastes and dry top do count as something new
They are new. They’re also open world PvE maps that mainly feature zerging, farming, and achievement grinds.
Dunno what OP was looking for, but for those of us who are looking for something besides openworld farming/zerging (Say, dungeons, PvP*, WvW, etc), there’s not a whole lot of new stuff to do.
* I’m aware of the PvP update, but it didn’t have new things "to do".
You are absolutely right. Anyone can get to those maps. Except only people that have any reason to be out there (read: people that have downloaded or paid for the story related things) will really get anything out of them. i mean, they MIGHT be able to get more actual things from the Silverwastes maps, but they can get things from any map. its not like they count toward map completion and if they have no reason to go out there in the first place, then why bother?
