Suggestion. Just as there are items that require tons of work in the game, in addition to the new wings item, create some super wings item that requires 500000 gems to purchase. For those of us who spend all their time grinding $$ in the real life And make its equivalent attainable in the game too, but maybe different color… At least then you won’t see every other person running with the new shiny item.
Actually they were part of a costume, spliced out and made into a back piece for crow enthusiasts who want to look like crows too. They probably have no relation to HoT whatsoever. I think they need to add a corn feed gem store item so I can feed all the crows that have been added to the game.

Feeding the crows is a heart-activity in the Norn starter map. Some of the shamans there should have this new back item added to them .

Ehi Gaile, is it possible to animate them a little bit more? Nothing big, just to make them move more. Right now when you run, especially on Charrs, they look static.
They look bad in the preview alone, too huge and disproportional. Hey they could be turned into mounts! All these players will be travelling through the sky while us usual folks won’t see them on the ground anymore – two birds with one stone. Wait..
I like them on my Sylvari, but not while running or fighting. They’re like most backpacks, in the way and bulky. My Sylvari will just have to tuck them in when she’s out in the wilds….
I think the wings are an all-time low for Anet. They’re way too massive and look ugly on 90% of the characters I saw wearing them yesterday. Please give us an option to disable seeing them on other characters.
When people say the wings are too big… compared to what? Even if 80% of your lift comes from pixie dust, wings are normally BIG compared to the critter that has them.

For me , they look like someone photoshopped wings on an character…without any knowledge of Photoshop whatsoever..XD
And why aren’t there white wings available? That would be great for the upcoming revenant profession..showing wether your are light or dark

I knew they where going to be bad but seeing them on everyone just makes them worse. They look like a card-bored cut outs they are so stiff and static. That and the clipping with them being so big.
IMO they lack polish, they where going to sell like hotcakes anyways so it does not matter. I normally like the art style of gw2 so i am a little disappointed
They made sense in CoH…cause you could like…actually fly.
In this game it’s a badly designed vanity item imho. There is no need for them outside the “look at me…I have something uber” mentality, the fact wings are always popular and yet they make zero sense. I’d vastly prefer back-pieces that actually have relevance in the world and mechanics given to the player. I’ll pass on these although I’m sure many will eat it up and stand around in hubs preening.
Cool wings, disappointed at the lack of color choices though. Color & texture, come on, some choices would at least make the crowd look a bit different. Reminds me of back when tempered spinal blades came out, everybody wore the same thing, boring. Until the color choices came in, that was when it became cool.

Well, as far as I know these wings belong to the Rayment of Lich “costume” – and they were originally black, so it makes sense for them to be black.
And since I already was kind of negative in this thread, I won’t say anything about the spinal blades ;)

Ya some of the stuff they’ve added to this game is ridiculous. Super sayian charr hair, neon colored hair, these wings and the list goes on. Makes me wonder if I’m still in Tyria anymore…
I have to agree with this one. I left that last game that had these wings, now I feel like I’m right back there. Everyone’s wearing them and frankly it looks ridiculous.
What exactly do they have to do with Tyria? Where’s the lore behind these?
It reminds me of a Korean game I used to play a few years ago. Desperate for cash game, they actually came up with all kinds of wing models and sizes, the thing was that the game didn’t really have a lore to talk about. That, and also, the fact that with those wings you could, you know, FLY.
I wonder about all the models of gliders that will show up in gemstore in HoT now.
