While I am glad that others will benefit from the minipet changes they are a negative for me. Pretty significantly so actually. It really is too bad that Anet cannot add something for those who wish it without destroying something that others prefer.

Please help me understand, what negative impact does it have?
1) If you have the mini, then you still have it (and in fact can choose to keep it out at all times, or leave it alone).
2) It removes the need to take up inventory space and click on it each map.
3) The pets can be used on multiple toons
4) If you already have an achievement for them, it isn’t like you are losing the achievement so no loss there
5) If you get a new mini, and only want to use it for a short time, then sell it then you can. You just keep it as an item in your inventory (like now) and don’t unlock it. Then when you get tired of it, you sell it.

So, please explain what I’m missing. We both read the same article (I’m assuming you read it of course). How does this have any negative impact?

This system takes away bank space for minipets. I gain no benefit from any of the of elements mentioned.

1) correct.
2) irrelevant (to me) again I am glad that others will benefit.
3) see #2
4) see #2
5) having to decide between taking up inventory space and general bank space is a negative compared to now (for me).

The only way it takes up bank space is if you want to both use the minis AND sell them later. And the only way it takes up significant space is if you want to do this with a lot of different minis at once. Because if you just want to use the mini, they don’t take up ANY inventory space or bank space, they go into the GUI. On the other hand, if you want to sell them, they also don’t take up space because they are in the Trading Post.

So, if I’m getting your frustration correctly, you will be inconvenienced because you have to choose whether or not to use the mini yourself or sell it as you can no longer do both, is that right? If so, keep in mind this is exactly how armor and weapons work in the game once you hit green quality or better (except the mini doesn’t take up any inventory space when you decide to bind it to your account and they remain account rather than soul bound).

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Wow. My mini Southsun Kasmeer is now 329.99 gold. Up from about 30 gold or so. O.o
Supply went from 60 to 2.

Wow. I bought that mini around June or July and payed 71 gold for it. I’m glad I have it now. No way am I ever selling it. I spent weeks trying to get it by saving crafting materials I gathered then selling them in the TP. It took longer to get the mini because I wound up buying exotic equipment and having to start over and over on the materials to sell.

Ha! I bought Teq for +9g 2 hours ago. Now is at 20g.

Better hurry and get all the minis now :P

Are people referring to Mini Tequatl the Sunless or a different mini Teq? I just bought one for under 7 gold 2 days ago for my collection I’m working on. I was poor and wound up with about 60 silver after buying it but I’m very glad I did now.

@Anet:
Please make the series 1 through 3 mini packs available in the gem shop permanently. I just started working on getting series one. I bought 4 series 1 packs the other day from the gem shop with real money and bought a bunch of the minis from the trading post.

Since these mini packs are not available at all times it means my collection expansion will stall because I won’t be able to afford to buy the minis in the TP.

I would like to see all other gem shop mini pets, armor/weapons skins, outfits, added to the gem shop permanently so I can buy them at my convenience instead of when you want me to. I missed my chance for the mini pig, mini jaguar cub, and mini jungle worms 3 pack (I bought gems for real money about a week after the worms weren’t available anymore). I have bought gems since then but haven’t seen these items make a return yet.

Heck, I spent a total of $150 on gems for the month of August, so I am willing to support the game. The problem is I end up not being able to buy gems when minis and/or armor skins are in the shop for a limited time and when I can buy gems it’s not available for who knows how long, if ever again.

There is one question I have and I can’t find if anyone else has asked it yet. Will there be a transmute charge to change to take out a mini you have unlocked in your wardrobe, in other words say you have one unlocked mini out and you want to change to a new one, is it free to do so, or will there a charge for it? Because if there is a charge then this will make me and a lot of people unhappy. I love the new system it makes running with minies more convenient, but if we are charged for each time we want to change out a mini for a different one that will not be fun!

Opinions are like ______ everyone has one I could
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens

Thank you in advance for making it so that mostly all (not incl. CE Rytlock and Hall of Monuments/Guild Wars Miniatures) are now freely tradable and without the idiotic Account Bound nonsense. That has to be what you announce tomorrow/today, right? Finally it will be a bit more like Guild Wars.

Cool beans Anet, now make them faster so they don’t trail half a mile down the road behind my character. If minions in FF14 can stay no more than ~meter from me there’s no reason minis can’t also.

I would actually bother buying them if they didn’t disappear over the horizon every time I try to run anywhere.

In my experience any time my mini gets too far behind it will suddenly teleport directly to my location. I’ve always liked that about this game.

If they would have done the sale after the announcement, people would be yelling “Anet so greedy” at the moment. Which they still will, but to a lesser extent.

Actually I think it would be the opposite. Having the sale before the announcement means some players may have purchased more than 1 copy of a mini from the gem shop so they don’t have to transfer it using their account bank. I’m surprised nobody has complained about it yet nor asked about the extras they actually purchased from the gem shop since we will soon only need 1 mini to unlock it on all characters. There should be a trade in or refund given to players with extra copies of account bound minis purchased from the gem shop (I’m referring to minis that can’t be sold or traded).

Edit: I see what you’re saying. If they made the announcement before the 2 year anniversary sale they might have sold even more minis that were available for a few days at a time. I’m still wondering about what they’ll do for players who may have purchased multiple copies of the same mini from the gem shop. (I only buy 1 copy because I’m not too lazy to use my account bank to transfer it)

There’s something charming about rangers.

Can’t say I’m a huge fan of this latest update, personally I would’ve preferred they tightened up the Equipment tab to reduce the unnecessary dead space and improve UI flow (something like this) and put miniatures and finishers in a new tab (or rename the current Finishers tab to Visuals and have Finishers, Toys, and Minis in it).

Oh well, that’s the direction they’re taking, can’t do anything but live with it.

^ This is essentially a rewording of what I said previously. The new system removes utility that existed previously and infringes upon my bank storage while providing me with zero benefit to offset the loss.

Again, I am glad for those who will see a net improvement. I just think that it is unfortunate that Anet could not provide a game improvement to some without taking something away from others.

All i’ve seen so far are “niche improvements”…as in “pet people get this…..skin people get that…x people get that”…and overall at the end of the day everyone will feel like they didn’t get enough for their wait.

Too little things offered for too long of a wait. They address niches problems of the community instead of addresing big problems that effect the majority of the community.

For me personally this feature patch doesn’t equal much…..i still don’t understand the massive marketing behind such small things that use already existing systems. Is this similar to “people with small di*** say they have big ones just to get over their complexity” thing? Seems very similar.

…eh anyway….back to playing other games.

To be honnest, I… I don’t really understand the problem. If you want to collect miniatures, or you think one of them is amazing and want to have it all the time then you just unlock it for your wardrobe. If you don’t like it, or just don’t care about minis… well you just sell it. Why would you keep dozens of minis if you don’t want them ? And all the actual account-bound minis from the LS or cash shop are… well… account-bound, so having them in the bank or in the wardrobe makes no diffrences… I don’t really see the big deal here ^^"

Concerning the achievements, I think we need a clarification : the old one constited in placing all the minis in the bank at least one time. Now the minis bank will be no more, so is theses achs still here ? And if yes, how to get them now ? If no, will you remove our APs for getting them ? And will you automatically grant people with the previous achs the new ones ? (which would be stupid imo, two achs for the same thing… :p )

To be honnest, I don’t care about the achievements (and I regret the era where people used to play video games for fun, and not for AP=( ), but I can see people are questioning about them, so maybe if I ask in a less “aggressive” way, you will answer

The only negative aspect is that you told us that is for veteran player. Even if I like that announcement, I’m kind of scary of what’s coming next lol

More minis should drop from mobs to get them some other way than the gem store/trading post.

Weren’t you complaining just the other day that the Mini Llama should have more ways of attaining it since you basically had no chance of ever getting one via the intended method (high-end PvP)?

It’s hardly high-end PvP. When I signed up for the tournament I’d never played a single match, I just needed to find 4 friends willing to be humiliated alongside me and sign us up. Then we got the minis because our first opponents didn’t show up.

Having said that there absolutely should be more ways to obtain the mini llama. They’ve made some progress by giving them away at conventions and to people watching streams but there should be something consistent. If they want to tie it to PvP still then a reward track would be perfect.

Alternatively the mini llama (and all minis actually) should be made tradeable. That way everyone has a way to get them. Some will be insanely expensive (like the mini panda in GW1 which went for about 1 million gold) but at least it’s an option.

(Oh, the HoM minis shouldn’t be tradeable because it’s possible to make infinite numbers of those for free.)

Agreed. I have all 3 but I don’t care about exclusivity, at least not enough to stop me supporting other people having the same opportunity to get them.

I thought they still dropped on Southsun, just incredibly rarely. If that’s not the case then they should be re-added to the loot table. Either for the Karka Queen or (with a lower drop rate) all enemies on Southsun as it was originally.

That’s largely because it was the newest (and therefore least common) before this announcement. When it first appeared on the TP it was something like 1000g then it gradually dropped to about 500g before this was announced.

The same happened with the mini Tequatl when that came out, and the Crimson Wurm Head. At first they were incredibly rare (literally 1 or 2 in-game at all) but as the supply rose the prices dropped. The same will happen to the Monkey King given time.

Yep. Most of my weapon (less so armor) skins in my wardrobe are from forging for precursors.

Low level blues and greens can also forge into karma items (depends on the level) which often have unique skins.

If minis get this… I sort of feel it would be a little broken. Because you literally can’t lose if you forge them and get them added to your wardrobe.

Yes, if you throw locked armor & weapons skins into the mystic forge, they unlock into your wardrobe. You effectively remove those four items you tossed in from the game/market and it unlocks just as if you salvaged or bound it to a character.

I’m hoping minis work the same way and I might get a few new minis unlocking them that way.

Would have been better with keeping the current collection tab on the bank for the ones you like to use for awhile and then store NOT in a bank slot AND attached to character screen. Then you have choice of convenience or keeping with possible resale (and not consuming bank slot). I am thinking the more seasonal ones.

I’ll probably just use my personal guild bank for storage I guess….

I think that’s totally a good option. Plus, now they will stack so it’s only 1 slot for up to 250. That’s epic.

Although I am not big into minipets, I think this change is a good one. Being able to summon whatever pet you want on whatever character seems an obvious change, especially for those who like to collect and switch it up.

The minipet market will unfortunately be crazy, but I wouldn’t be surprised if anet had plans to bring back set I and II and/or have a minipet sale and/or allow some of the old LS minis to be obtained through laurels (presumably account bound).

Questions (since a red post has shown up!):

1) Will we be given the chance to do something with our MANY queen Jennahs and priests of Balthazar? Roll 4 to 1 in the forge, with a chance for any rarity would still be fine for me. But trashing items is always a drag.

2) What will happen with the current mini achievement: will it go away, but those who have it retain the points? Will both the points and achievement go away? Or will the old achieve become the new, and those who had the old one get the new one?

This is most important to me (and many) who bought minis for the acheive and then sold. From tax, most take a loss to do this (not to mention putting tedious bid orders up for hundreds of minis), so hopefully we will not lose those points.

3) Will there be any way to obtain minis outside of the gemstore? It would be nice as something to add as a rare drop somewhere (maybe fotm, since it lacks in spicy rewards).

Thanks!!

Nice change overall… I rarely use minis because they always disappear on me. I would have preferred to keep the bank collection tab and have a mini slot like the outfit slot. I don’t like the idea of removing minis from the economy, nor do I like forcing us to choose between account bound or buying more bank tabs. Will we be seeing set 1 and 2 in the gem store again?

Beware what you wish for…..

I am taking a guess that one of the new collectible Achievements will be for having account bound minis.

So those who already have the mini set achieves will no doubt have to buy them all again just like the cultural armor. Goal posts changing again.

1. Price skyrocket on BLTC as we have seen in last 24 hours.
2. Money grab by ANET as they are the primary market for minis not the player base
3. Secondary market will be priced beyond most peoples reach.
4. Gold sink as having 150 odd minis in your skins is pretty kitten useless and will cost you a fortune.

All because people are too kitten lazy to store a mini in their inventory and click on it.
How many people really want to use the same mini on each of their toons where they have such a wide choice available to them.

Anet I hope you prove me wrong and that there are no achieves for having account bound minis and that those of us that bothered to collect them once do not have to do so again……

What the? Are you serious? The dev blog didn’t say anything about being charged in any way shape or form for anything to do with minis. Do you know how many players would be upset if we suddenly had to use transmutation charges to use a different mini? I have no idea either but I can guarantee you I’d uninstall the game.

Just because minis are being added to the wardrobe doesn’t mean they will function like changing your weapons and armor skins. They are being added there for convenience.

Sheesh. Anet is greedy but not stupid.

I’d like them to do away with transmutation charges all together. I refuse to ever buy any. What I’m left with is (1)Wait until I eventually have enough free charges from doing dailies, map exploration, monthlies, etc. (2)Be stuck with the same exact look for a long time. (3)Buy extra copies of the same exact same items to have each set with a different look that clutters up my inventory.

With so many weapon and armor skins this is evidence of their nickle-and-dime you to death greed. Heck I’d settle for tailor NPCs being added to various cities and charge us a few silver to change our weapon/armor skins. But whatever.

There’s something charming about rangers.

putting this here because it involves the hero panel interface
someone suggested having unlockable gathering tools.. i know it is arena net’s decision if they want singular characters to buy individual gathering tools.. but it would be interesting to apply appearances to your tools.. especially if we could make our fancy gem store gathering tools look like the regular ones you get at the merchants {if you want} ..anyway, i had a gather tool suggestion thread awhile ago

I’m a bit confused about this ‘stacking’ ability of mini-pets. Didn’t they already stack in your bank and inventory? I know those I have multiples of do. So, what exactly is the announcement referring to?

Totaly confused by the blog.

If anyone can answer, i’d have 3 questions:

1) can i equip minis from the collection without using inventory space?

2) can i use the same mini on different characters without buying more than 1?

3) will it stay equipped after i change map/istance/on Death ?

Thank you

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

1. Yes. You can now “equip” a miniature from your Wardrobe.

2. Yes. All miniatures can now be unlocked for your account. This destroys the mini, but it unlocks it in your Wardrobe and can subsequently be equipped by any character on your account.

3. Yes. Once equipped, the minipet will be automatically displayed whenever you enter a new map. It will continue to be displayed until you unequip it. Presumably it persists even through death.

No information on whether this means that all miniatures can now swim.

In order to make this easier, all minis of the same type now stack in inventory.

It’s from the Miniatures Blog. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/miniatures-and-finishers-in-your-account-wardrobe/
