Got mine from the Mystic Forge. My friend got his from Twilight Arbor.

Averaging probably 5-6 hours a day since launch…never seen one precursor. :-(

Dusk – a couple of months ago – dropped off a level 6 raptor hatchling in Metrica – ~1000 hours played – no special gear or anything, I might have been using some kind of food, but probably not

That sucks so much. Played a lot, getting a precursor is still totally luck based, and I got one I don’t want – it’d be nice to have Twilight, but it’s not enough to make me complete the map lol – gave it to a friend

So according to this limited data, the best way to get a precursor is not to:

Have traveled the world in search of every poi, vista, creature and event
Defeated many a creature in a to-the-death encounter
Played over 4000 hours in the game, defeating every dungeon, fractal, and lord.
Crafted a plethora of weapon/armor/jewelery/food etc.

BUT to voluntarily sink 1000’s of gold into an the waiting arms of an imaginary creature.

YEP seems legendary to me…. and not even a bit anti-climatic /s.

The Energizer (for Mace)

Rodgort’s Flame. Bought it from the TP a month back or so when I saw it was only 80 gold.

Chaos Gun, from CM p3’s end boss. ~2.5k hours played.

Also Carcharius from the mystic toilet, throwing in exotic foci and shields from dungeon tokens.

All of these I got from a single mystic forge sitting using about 280 berserker’s pearl broadswords. Each cost about 4 gold each at the time totaling 1120 gold.
1.5k hours played.

Haven’t been able to get a single pre curser from the forge since.

Zap sold for 280 gold at that time and energizer for 90 gold.

Year and a half, about a week after I finished Frenzy….

I play the game since beta, never got a precursor drop.
Had to work hard to buy all the precursors I wanted

The Bard – first Karka event endchest, I got lucky and was not kicked. Sold for 7-8g back then, which I used to buy a set of Superior Soldier runes for my guardian… and put them on the Vigil Armor I was using back then, which is not even exotic and which cannot be salvaged. Great system, ANet!

The Bard – FOTM lvl 49 preFractured from a Veteran elemental in the Snowblind Fractal. Sold for ~100g.

Luckeeeeh meeeh…

Also bought Dawn from the TP for ~600g before the craze and crafted Sunrise.

I think I have the most expensive sunrise out there.

I think it’s safe to say the precursor drop rate is too low.
In my 3k+ hours never seen a precursor drop, either.

Bought my Howl really cheap in the first month. ~5g it was.
Bought my Rodgort’s Flame from a guildmember for ~10g.

If i didn’t got them so cheap i would not have a legendary. Such a waste of time.

1800 hours and 2 years in this game since launch. Played it about 5 or 6 hours a day. No legendary or precursor. Nah, I’m not angry at all. It is all about enjoying and playing the game.

I’ve got The Chosen & Storm from the mystic forge, broke even pretty much on those. I found The Collosus in WvW, a drop from vet Hylek (or whatever those frog ppl are called). And Dusk & Spark i bought from the TP.

3000+ hours played.

The Hunter – Sometime in early 2013, from a random ghost in AC Story. Sold it.

The Energizer – October 2013, from a random centaur in Harathi Hinterlands. Sold it.

And that’s why I don’t like skipping mobs. Think of all the potential Precursors you’re missing, people!

2.3k hours across 3 main characters. Varied gaming fields between WvW, Dungeons, Open World, Champ farm and Living Story.

Ah, I bought off Zap from my guildie for 350G a year back and crafted my Bolt with blood and sweat.

Dawn: TP. Mystic toilet doesn’t interest me.
