I have written too many posts, and bug reports to this have simply been ignored. Now that ascended amulets have been released as well, why is there still NO cleric’s/giver’s/apothecary’s/shaman’s/magi’s/rampager’s/carrion/Knight’s gear? Why advertise that you would release amulets for every single type of player yet fail to include even ONE of those item combos…this is getting ridiculous. Why am I being punished for wanting to make a support character? Were these item sets forgotten or completely abandoned? If they are the latter, then why do they still exist in the form of exotic/rare/masterwork armor pieces? What is the current plan with these missing armor sets, going forth?

It’s so silly…I’ve been doing fractals under the false pretense that they’d eventually add it. And, they STILL haven’t added it. My healing elementalist/engineer cannot even progress to higher levels of fractals because I didn’t have enough agony resistance to survive. I was stuck doing level 10 fractal dailies for so long…and for what now?

Because this game isn’t about Tank/Healer/DPS roles.
This game’s combat system is based on Damage/Control/Support.

Being a Support character isn’t encouraged exactly.
You’d only be gimping yourself if you only focus on 1 /3.

In GW2, You need to know how play with your team properly by dealing “Damage” while coordinating “Control” and Supporting each other in the party.

I play all 8 classes and I can tell you that you want to fully focus on knowing how to take advantage of your class and it’s capabilities for combat to be as useful as possible in your team.

An Elementalist who focuses on Water Attunment for support isnt useful compaired to an Elementalist who helps the team by coordinating “Control” and “Support” while contributing “Damage”.

Your playstyle is based on Weapons + Utility Choices with costumizable traits/stats but the combat system is still Damage/Control/Support.

Of course I focus on control, support, and damage. I don’t just stand in water attunement, I know exactly how to play my class. I chose to emphasize support by picking up Cleric’s Gear (mind you which exists and gives you Healing Power/Toughness/Power) but that doesn’t mean I just stand in water attunement. I switch to fire to blast fire fields for aoe might and do area damage, air for area swiftness/blind/control, and earth to immobolize and finish my combo fields. Player skill isn’t the problem here…it’s the fact that gear nomenclature that was previously added to exotics has suddenly gone missing.

And by your logic, why is it ok to focus only on damage with Power/Precision/Crit Damage? Aren’t they then gimping themselves out by focusing purely on damage as opposed to the other stats/roles/mechanics?

Holy cow! Relax dude.
I’m Not accusing you for that. I was only stating an example with an Elementalist.
I seen a lot of bad players, specially elementalist who stick with 1 attunment and do 1 thing, that always end up dying because of lack of Support or Control.

I only posted that as a reply to inform, because I don’t want people to get the wrong idea.

You can setup ur character’s stats/traits anyway you want. I just dont want people to be mis-informed and think that Healer/support roles apply in GW2.

But I do Agree with you that it’s important to have different stats available for the costumization part. But I don’t think it’s something you should be angry about since having stats on different areas is important to help you do better in Damage/Control/Support.

I feel like people who want to have healing gear are being shoehorned away from being able to play how we want to play because its easier to not include healing gear than it is to fix its viability.

Whats the point in me even doing my dailies if there is no way for me to progress? It seriously makes no sense when it could probably be created and added to the vendor in less than a-few hours. Same goes for the ascended rings. There are plenty of side grades for everyone but healing.

I’m just going to assume ArenaNet’s intention:
(This is my Guess and opinion)

It’s probably because they don’t want there to be a (Healer Role) and by adding more and powerful healing stats, it can create a start of the Holy Trinity that ArenaNet worked hard to break. That could cause a lot of problems as well since certain classes have other healing skills than others and it could exclude specific classes for another, thus, bringing back the old school (Need a healer) shouts.

Again, That’s my opinion and guess.

As a player who’s seen Kinkypotato (the OP) in action, I’d say he’s (or she) is one of the best players in the game at both sPvP and WvW. No other elementalist has impressed me more. His opinion on the subject, in addition to being perfectly backed up by extensive experience, skill and master of his class, is representative of most players using the clerics set (not just for support). Let’s face it, there’s been Ascended amulets for most stat sets, but none for the clerics set. All we ask is ArenaNet to at least justify as to why they have made this decision.

If it was Arenanet’s intention to not have a healing role at all, then they wouldn’t have introduced healing gear in the first place, nor would they have included entire trait lines dedicated to healing and utilities/elites to healing others. I know it’s an opinion and a guess, I’m just stating that it’s more an issue of them missing/being lazy to include it rather than a sway of intentions.

I seen many guardians die because they play it like a Tank Class from WoW.

But I play Guardian and I can say that It’s really a powerful class and doesn’t need that extra healing stat to be any better. I actually think Guardians are Over Powered in a lot of departments but that’s my opinion and experience since I play the class.

I would say because people like Costumizing their characters and making their own balance and traits. You can’t have an RPG game without having something to costumize skills and such.

And you dont need a healer and a tank for the game to be an RPG either. Look at Fallout3 as an example.

Btw, is “Guesting” available from this Update? If so, I’ll love to show you some stuff in combat if possible.

It’s not all about Tank Build or DPS Build or Healer Build.

Traits can be mixed and matched to suit your own playstyle, the way you like it.
There are really no specifics to it. Armor/stats help you in department u lack since Traits give u some bonuses.

What ever build works for you, I recommend u stick with.
It’s not generic. But I believe there is a good reason for healing stats Not going any higher than what it is.

If they do, they have a lot of re-balancing to do as far as the damage and defense the enemies we fight do. As well as other classes to follow up with it.

They can Add it but hopefully not by much.

In WvW, guardians are probably best played as support with healing power. And no, if you want to be a dedicated supporter in WvW (and competent guardians don’t ignore the other mechanics of controlling and doing damage to downed foes), then you really do need that healing power. Everything from Empower, to Orb of Light, to regeneration scales directly off healing power. Healing is the one set that allows supporters to actually help their teammates…without this stat in the game, you’d have to buff all “heal other allies” traits/abilities to a state where they’re powerful enough without the healing stat and that would be way too much of a hassle considering most of the classes can play a healing oriented support role.

This game isnt designed for the Holy Trinity: Tank/healer/Dps roles.

ArenaNet literarly made it clear about that.
You can costumize ur character how you want to play.

However, The moment people start looking for Healers, is the moment you start excluding certain classes, bringing back the Holy Trinity is not the asnwer.

So its perfectly fine for them to buff damage outputs via power and crit damage but when we want to increase our ability to negate this effect its seen as unbalanced? If I recall, healing power still scales pretty terribly compared to all other stats.

Play the game for the way it’s ment to be played.
DO you have a Healer/support class in Call of Duty?

What if I want a gun that heals people? SO when someone gets shot, I can heal my team with my gun?

No… You. You are Not a healer in GW2 because that role doesnt transulate in GW2’s combat system.

Other games like WoW use the Tank/Healer/DPS roles which makes it 100% fine since that’s the core design of the game’s mechanics is to work with those 3 roles, But GW2 is designed with Damage/Control/Support in mind where all classes must use to Solo effectivly and coordinate with team effeciantly. It’s a new kind of combat system.

By adding a healer type class or stats that makes certain class valid for Healers, will destory the game design and that’s when people start asking for Healers Elementalist or Guardian healers/tanks…. No thanks -_-

For now, that’s what I’m doing as well but this is DEFINITELY NOT OK. The only build I WANT to play is a support build…not a damage or tanky build. The archetype that I enjoy in gaming the most is support so it all boils down to the fact that supporters are left behind in terms of gear progression. Call me crazy but that’s not exciting and is very depressing considering almost every single other archetype (even farmers with their magic find stat) have priority over support.

You are missing the point.

Are you even reading what you are typing? I’m asking this as a genuine question.

The holy trinity is still there, however not in a classic sense (classic meaning it is essential). ANet made it clear that you can play however you want and still be helpful to your team. We have dps builds, we have bunker builds, so why is it a crime to want to play as a healer? It is impossible to just stand there and heal (which I don’t think you quite grasp). The whole idea behind cleric gear is to maximize the healing you give yourself and allies. Its more of a survivability build than anything else, and one that takes finesse to pull off effectively too.

DO you have a Healer/support class in Call of Duty?

Hi, they offer cleric sets already for exos/rares but not ascended and there lies the problem. Your ‘arguements’ have no basis for this conversation at all so please stop trolling. Thanks!

@Dreamy, please, kindly stop assuming that we want to be healers just because we want healing power on our gear. That’s like assuming we want to be tanks just because there’s some toughness or vitality on our balanced/DPS gear. Or like assuming we want to be DPS just because there’s Power on our Cleric’s.

There is a difference between wanting to be support-oriented and wanting to pretend that this is WoW. Just like there’s a difference between reading and responding and repeating the same thing over and over.

@Kinky, indeed, it’s pretty depressing. I’ll be putting my ascended gear in the bank for the sake of fractals, but I’m going to have to buy up some more exotic rings when I log back in tonight just to try to keep up.

It’s pretty stupid that builds like ours are simply being thrown to the side in the “writer’s room,” per se. Really wish they’d just…do better, I guess.

You dont have to trash your entire build.

Traits can be mixed and matched to suit your own playstyle, the way you like it.

The way ANet likes it FIXED

You can’t compare shooters to action RPGs. And even then, some shooters DO have healers in them (global agenda, firefall, borderlands 2)…the healing archetype works fine in this …your arguments are very contradictory considering the fact that they EXPLICITLY STATED multiple times that everyone can heal, everyone can damage, and everyone can tank. The role translates just fine in GW2…I have no idea where or how you’re even coming up with these arguments. While healing doesn’t necessarily constitute entirely what support is (giving protection, might, swiftness…etc), it plays an ESPECIALLY large role in it.

Then you need a Engineer with elixir-gun ^^

Is funny when people post things that they dont have any idea, the healing is alredy in the game, we are only begginb for the ascended version like the other items.

And support class is a true class in the game, the “trinity” of GW2 are control, damage and support, alredy told many times by arena.net.

1/ Call of Duty has nothing to do with this game, the fact you brought it up decreases the credibility of your argument.

2/ Try Google “Team Fortress 2”, or “Battlefield 3”

3/ I am a healer in terms of the gear that I choose to play in. Once again, a Guild Wars 2 healer is completely different to a World of Warcraft healer.

4/ Damage/Control/Support is a lackluster way of describing each class can perform Tank/Healer/DPS all in synergy. The trinity is still there, just creatively disguised.

5/ People who don’t know how to play their classes properly will start asking for healing guardians and elementalists.

The dungeons in this game are seriously a joke, there is no need for specific classes however that still shouldn’t mean I am not allowed to play in a style that I enjoy.

Well i can say that the only stats of new ascended items who work for me are the berseker one, no cleric, no knight, no valkyrie…..

Yes, a lot of play stiles arena.net…. great fail, i will stick with my exotic items, my only hope is that the lack of “classic” stats means that they are planning ascended items by crafting.

The whole thing is definitely pretty strange.

I mean it’s not really a big deal atm since you probably don’t want to wear ALL cleric’s gear, in every slot. So you just wear it in the non ascended slots.

Seems pretty strange they still haven’t added the pow/tough/heal combo though. It’s been asked for long enough and is also a relatively popular stat combo people use on exotics already. Wonder if it’s an intentional change of game direction.

It is a bad step in a game that already lacks in diverse builds. The only reason I can think that they would do something like this is that their internal testing shows that a full set if ‘insert missing set here’ Ascended gear would be to powerful in some setups. Or they are stretching out their ‘content’ by releasing them later making people who settled for something else do it all over again.

Yes you can build around it for now. But really why should I have to build around it? The idea was I could build the character I wanted, not here let me give you limited selections and see what you can do with that.

yeah , the ascended items are better in numbers, but they lack of diversitiy, i see a lot with Power, Precision, Crit Damage, and the only thing that change is the “jewel stats”.

It was a issue when they released the fractales update, but now they just repeat the same mistake, the lack of diversity is poor.

A answer by arena.net about this will be nice, they are planing stick in these stats and wait for craft ascended items ? , because i have 4 different build with 4 different armors in my guardian, and there are only 1 set of ascended items who work for me ( Magic Find ones ), right now i have 0 motivatin in get ascended items.

The thing is, I’ve been asking for them to include healing ascended gear since the very beginning when the fractals of the mist were first introduced (in the November patch). It’s been about two months and I have yet to hear anything from anyone on the subject matter! This is appalling.

Why noone talks about Rampager and Carrion gear, or even Knight gear (whose precision was raplaced by crit. damage?), there’s no Power+Condition damage ascended items what so ever. If they are totally neglecting these exotic equivalents, we need an explanation, why? Such a drastic change on gear stats demands an explanation, it would be totally unethical otherwise, even more so considering all that “we want players to have an identity with their builds” fluff talk they did when they decided to add a fee when respeccing traits.
No Power+Condition ascended gear means I’ll have to dump my build entirely. We just need to hear if we are ever going to get the missing sets in a future patch or what we have right now is what we will have for other ascended items later as well, Is that much to ask for?

What set is power + condition damage? Is that Carrion? I added that into the edit of the original post already, and I definitely agree…why is it being advertised that we can play how we want to play….yet new gear being released clearly doesn’t exemplify that statement.

That’s not the problem, the problem is they give you a certain set with certain stats and later they start introducing a new tier of gear completely neglecting your current tier of stats effectively giving a stat advantage to those that already had berserker sets or other sets that are now in ascended form.

By the way:

Rampager: Precision, Power, Condition
Carrion: Condition, Power, Vitality

Very popular, good and viable builds use these sets such as many Ranger (some trappers), Thief (Pistol/dagger) and Engineer builds and some Warrior ones to give some examples, and I’m pretty sure many other professions do a good use of these hybrid sets as well.
I’m baffled we haven’t seen an answer concerning this or even the community not being nearly as vocal as expected with this as it’s such a major change in known stats. Hey Anet employee, can I borrow TWO MINUTES of your time? yey?
