Wheres New Content?? (State of the Game) [merged]
1- Anet dev put Living Story content into the Mystic Forge
2- …he cross his finger and hope for new content!
3- Nothing comes out of the Mystic forge besides the original game features, except they are now in Chinese
4- Dev ask another employee to make SAB part 3, fast!
5- Other employee says he’s too busy making a GvG game mode for GW3
6- Someone come up with a new skin for the gem store
replace 5-6 with:
5- someone makes a SAB finisher announcing #4 (new SAB chapter)
lol seems I was right… SAB it is.

*Anet more or less merged servers
*PvP and WvW content doesnt take as much efffort Im sure as PvE as players provide their own challenge
*No Zephyr Sanctum, SAB, Easter event or minor festival like content to bridge the gap to any substantial new PvE content even though there are supposedly teams working on all areas of the game
*No new PvE content apparently until the Chinese release
*No detail of how substantial an update although there were plenty blog posts and news articles in advance of the feature patch
My conclusion of state of the game is PvE priority is below WvW or sPvP or Anet are waiting to hit with a “huge” content update thinking that people who have moved on to other games will come flocking back because its ftp.
them due to those less than polite individuals out there and their offensive attitude.
Below WvW? Really? There has been 0 WvW updates for how long? Year?
EOTM is not wvw its Karma/Boss Training 24/7.
Last time we saw a new content at March 4! Two month ago!
Last time we saw a new content at March 4! Two month ago!
And it wasn’t that substantial. None of the Living Story is?
By the way what content updates are wanted for WvW? Its not like there are quests, and raids that need a story and a lot of construction to move the game along in there? The players move the WvW game along themselves.

its not really about them just adding something new, its about them adding something substantive. Most living story content has very little depth, and you are finished in like 15 minutes.
People are looking for the type of content you see in expansions like
new overarching storylines (that preferably arent bad)
new areas to explore(think new interacting DEs, and perhaps a questlike mechanic better than hearts)
new abilities/skills
new proffesions
content for high levels to push/use their refined charachters (i think a mission type system like GW1 might be a really good addition)
new dungeons.
basically expand and develop the game.
Basically, I wouldn’t have even thought they’d consider new permanent content with an expansion release. That’s because they’ve always said GW2 was horizontal and not vertical progression. But, they did provide new levels for Crafting Disciplines 400-500, so I’m not without hope that they’ll actually do more zones, and maybe even more character levels in the futures.

actually when the game came out they said they had tons of ideas for new content. They talked about new weapons in beta, they talked about continuing personal story, guild halls, new unexplored areas. They said they had teams working on these things even as the game released.
Also expansions can be horizontal content, and still be highly successful. Look at ffxi rise of the zilart, treasures of art urgan and wings of the goddess. The level cap was never raised. new areas, new jobs, new storylines, new recipes, new gears (that werent necesarrily more powerful, but filled different roles/abilities)
Unfortunately they are far too busy pouring development into the Chinese version of the game, aren’t you happy you’ve supported them through the gem store because lord knows I’m thrilled they chose to use the money that way! Sarcasm off, wallet closed!
So were coming on two weeks after feature patch
They spent four weeks building up to the Feature Pack. Another two isn’t going to kill you.
The last content was early February.

Early March, actually, if you don’t count Aftermath.

Patch Notes and Mission Statements: now available for only 500 GEMS !!
Yeah but it’s also the most changes the game has had at once since ascended came along. You can’t really compare the feature patch to living story updates with one or two feature changes.
Also I think a lot of the complaints are just about it being new and different. There were a lot of complaints when they changed dailies and added laurels too, everything from “we’re forced to grind dodging” to there being too many dailies to choose from.
But a few months later comments were largely positive, the main complaints were not having enough things to spend laurels on and later the fact that they skewed the leaderboards.
Make up your mind. Are the players “thrilled” or are they complaining because change is scary? It can’t be both.

Try being a WoW player. 8 months without new content, and 8 more until their next expansion!
But someone will point out that a new player will be able to play that 8 month old content for the first time while here, our living history passes and a new player can only experience the after affects rather than participating in the events that led up to the current state of the world.
In the first case the amusement park keeps adding new rides on top of their existing while in the second the amusement park keeps replacing some of their rides.
RIP City of Heroes
I must agree, specially PvE / Dungeons need desperately new content, things are reaching one brick wall at endgame that can’t be only supported by PvP, PvE needs oxygen again.
Asura thing.
Learn to be patient and life will be so much more enjoyable.
I guess more than 1years and hafl to only get this “feature patch” that have finaly more con than pro excess a bit the “be patient”

Truth. Came back after a long break and not only is there no living story going on but all the old “content” is gone so guess it’s either back to the same ole same ole or take another break…

Of course you forgot to mention the 60+ months of content already added in past updates that wasn’t removed and deleted from the game.

“Working as intended”
OK. So on the one hand, the playerbase says “create new content we want it noaaaaaaaaawwwww!” and on the other hand the playerbase says “We don’t want new content! We first want you to rework and improve the old content before you move to any new content!”
So they implemented a TON of new features, did a ton of balance changes, completely modified their entire server infrastructure and shook the s/tPvP world upside down. They did this mostly as a result of, and I want to stress this, what they playerbase have ASKED them to do.
Right now, customer support is swamped in dealing with individualized requests for return requests for double or triple gemstore purchases – which they ALLOW and creates a ton of work. For their part, the devs are up till their ears in work reading all the feedback on the new wardrobe, balance changes, the change to their complete server infrastructure and the entirely new PvP reward track system which created a huge influx of players into PvP and, as a result, will have led to a ton of feedback and player reports (the old PvP community was slightly toxic).
The OP’s post steps over the bigger picture a bit too easily to my taste. I do not think it’s fair to complain at this point. If nothing has happened with the LS months from now, you can raise this issue again, but we all know there will be a ton of new content by then.
The ex-content people aren’t considering content required a lot of time from a team of people to develop. Just because it isn’t available anymore doesn’t mean Anet has been sitting around doing nothing. It was new content that was generated but is no longer available. It isn’t fair to say they haven’t added content just because it is no longer available. That was time and energy spent by the design team to implement. They still get credit for doing it.
It’s like someone making a wedding cake. They could have slaved all week to make that thing. After the wedding it is all gone and eaten. Would it make sense to tell that baker “dude, I don’t see any cake, you haven’t been doing anything!”
Anet has been doing a great job generating content. It just happens to not be permanent. Obviously a lot of people don’t like that.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
What content has gone away that people still want? The holiday stuff? The Marionette? The Toxic Knights?
Just curious.

Not the best example. I came back to GW2 after a couple years and nothing has really changed. A new WvW map where each team just zergs and tries to avoid the other teams, 1 new gear type and a single new high end dungeon.
Meanwhile looking back at re-installing WoW after two years I have 2 entire expansions worth of content and everyone talking about the next expansion’s content. Not to mention patch 6.0 which will completely change the game’s mechanics in a lot of ways. Actually it was talk about that patch that got me interested in that game again.
It was the April 15th patch that brought me back to GW2, but the game is exactly the same as I left it. It’s still zerg/stack/zerker with the same old class problems with the same areas of the game to play in.

Be carefull… you are talking about real things in a forum populated by real fanboys believing in magics.
Not everyone will understand your post. the most will just read the first sentence to tell you “go back to wow and shout up”.
You are a braveheart for writing that in here
This game has had hardly any new permanent content for almost two years now. The devs lost their track, I guess, after the failure that living story turned out to be.
You would think it has to come soon. This is probably the longest we’ve gone without any info. They must be working on getting the feature pack ironed out before they build on top of it. Right?? I’m trying optimism for a change.
They are getting ready to release GW2 in probably the largest market in the world. I am sure big stuff will be coming in time. Learn to be patient and life will be so much more enjoyable.
So im the only one that would like a, “state of the game” update? I find it humourous that some think im asking for this monumental thing, lol
In other mmos people have to wait 6 months to a year before new content is being released. Here people freak out when they go 2 weeks without new content/features.
omg guys learn to ready this goes for everyone he didnt say give a date on the content just to have an article that tells him/us what is going on with the game and what anet is PLANNING TO DO not what they are actually doing that very freaking second maybe you all should take you own advice on patience and read before saying something

Yeah, this game is totally free.
It’s not like I had to pay $60.00 or anything like that in the first place to play it and I’m sure the Gem Store is solely there for charitable purposes.
Not to mention that those proceeds have been put into the China release. Thanks ANet!

Yeah, they’d have to update the scaling, I’d think.
But seriously, people who keep complaining about temporary content: what content have they released (that is not holiday content) do you want back so you can replay? I feel like the best content (Molten and Aetherblade dungeons) already made it to Fractals. I’m curious as to what else people want.

If you’re that starved for content, go play another game until Anet announces they’re releasing new content.
Good idea!
I know I’ve been playing Champions and looking forward to The Old Republic’s next update! You know what the new update will include? Personal housing and guild halls! Or rather flagships.
In all seriousness though, you do realize that this is honestly one of the worst things you can tell people on an MMO forum, right? At least terrible from the developer standpoint. Free after purchase or not, GW2 still starts to look bad if the server population dwindles because people decide “nuts to this, let’s play another game”.
That’s because you pay a subscription to WoW for updates, and you don’t to Anet.
Actually I did spent $50 on gems when I came back to GW2 a couple weeks ago. It really shouldn’t be a sub vs non-sub issue as money should be coming into the game. The gem store is their “sub” model.
GW1 was non-sub and had expansions. There was permanent, long term content in that game with new classes, new features, entire new areas of the game opening up and so on. Of course they lacked steady revenue which is why we have a gem store today. But the problem with GW2 is for people who played the game 2 years ago and left due to boredom/mechanics issues is there really any reason for them to come back today, stay around awhile and end up spending money in the gem store?

I want new areas period I didnt want any of the excuse me for this anet ‘junk’ they put in over the past year and a half I hated it all except maybe 1 or 2 things let me think wayyyyyyy back to shortly after release. Well the Queen’s Jubilee I enjoyed because it gave a challenge that I personally had fun with if I wanted to be alone and the zerg ball was rather fun too idk why but it was. other than that…….I honestly can’t think of anything I only did it for the ap before I just had enough of it and quit the game entirely until the Thursday before last. Many have already said it but I want to again compared to GW1 gw2 is falling extremely short in content. 4 months from now gw1 was releasing a third continent with factions already released giving many many more armor’s weapons elite missions missions explorable areas and skills among MANY MANY other things and I for a fact know that in the past year and a half anet has made more than they did in about 5 years with gw1 possibly even the life of gw1 and where it currently is. there are so many Micro transactions within the BLTP it’s dumb.

That’s true, but they’re not forcing anyone to buy gems on a regular basis. In fact, after buying some gems with real money, I decided never to again. I’m now buying gems with gold.
I agree that it would be nice to have new content, but I would be fine without it, with various tweaks here and there.

No. a lot of Big Guilds are dead.. players left and nobody likes the new incoming niubs
the entire game is dying… and that’s a fact not a “haters” statement
Those who come back, like me, just find their old guild abandoned, for each old big guilds, there’s now a small one made of the old players trying to enjoy a little the game…

anyone that played gw1 would not say that. We know that there is so much more in the World of Tyria (yes it is used for this continent too that we are on but I just call it Kryta) We have Cantha The ‘Jade’ Sea Encholavd Forest Vabbi The Desolation Kourna and Istan and I’m sure quite a few other places that I couldnt remember the names of atm.
