Would you buy an expansion?
Umm…. No. It’s not been announced so anyone trying to sell me the expansion is fraud.

Definetly. Apart from enjoying the initial release here, Anet have a great record with expansions from GW1, each being better than the last.
Really looking forward to seeing Elona and Cantha if they become part of future expansions as well
It depends on how much (of what i consider) fun content is added.
Nope…. i lost trust and the believe about this company
If Anet doesn’t change a lot of things before this, I will not buy it. Things like bugged classes, stupid raids, lack of 1vs1 PvP, lack of guild competition, lack of real fame, lack of good rewards in PvP and WvW areas, lack of sense in WvW and PvP for single player and guild both. I will never believe again of Anet advertising. And I bet this thread will be deleted
Yes I would, yep

heh, it probably will be deleted, but we can get some opinions in until then. I feel the same, they would have to change ALOT to get me to buy it.
-And if I did, that would be after waiting 2 months minumum for non-hype reviews.
Yes and No, I really want to have an expansion, but the money would be the problem, and I understand Anet needs more income from the game, I just want to fight Jormag, Kralkatorrik, The Destroyer(I think it is the Destoyers dragon name?).
I will say yes, as long it is more zones to explore and storylines, more levels would be fantastic as well.
Yeah…. probably too subtle for you… Tell me again why it makes any sense to talk about expansions now? I know you’re not trying to elicit reasonable discussion on the current state of the game, because we both know that it will simply hit the same chorus of complaints/cheers as every other state of the game discussion out there. I also am fairly certain that ANet has no plans on creating an expansion for a good long while, based on the state of the game interview that was posted a few weeks ago. They are currently focusing on giving free updates to the content. So, honestly, your question has little framework for a meaningful answer answer and useful discussion as far as I can tell.
All that said, right now I’m likely to buy an expansion… But who knows what state the game will be in by the time they get around to releasing that.

NatureBlade: The destroyer/fire Dragon is called Primordius.
I agree tho, I’m looking forward to thsoe dragons too. Kralkatorrik could be an epic fight given his size, if they get it right
I’d buy an expansion for sure. Right now I’m doing World Completion and have found several places that are set up as possible entrypoints into new areas. The City Gate in Ebonhawke that leads to Crystal Desert, and the unfinished Asura Gates in LA are just two examples.
I think you can tell a really deep game when you keep finding new content just running around the world. GW2 has that in buckets and I’ll happily keep supporting it when an expansion comes around.

Itinerant, no guild.
Yes, in a heartbeat.
Yes, I will buy all expansions A.net comes up with for a very simple reason, despite all the little mistakes made here and there it IS by far the best mmorpg of the last 5 years !
I just hope they actually take the time to flash out all the personal stories and NOT make such a blunder again with an end game Boss ! That Boss fight just plain sucks no other way to say it.
Yes, I will most likely buy it.
I suggest for them to bring out the expansion before those big hits like “Blade & Soul” and “ArcheAge” comes out in English. If those games grab players attention, players may get distracted away from GW2 and loses the momentum to buy the expansion.
The rumormill is that there WILL be a new expansion in 2013, due 3rd or 4th quarter and a expansion every year thereafter for at least 3-4 years…
I will buy any expansions that have more explorable free roaming open world areas, exactly like the areas you level 1 to 80 in. Also more stuff for WvW and PVP. At least 1 new character class.
I Won’t buy it if it is full of kitten dungeons, kitten fractuals, kitten sunshine cove and kitten Orr. If it is Anet can kitten, kitten off and I will spend my money with another software company on another game.
I do like GW2 and want a expansion to be good so I can buy it.
Nope, they lost me when they announced new gear would be added AFTER the game was released, despite their previous promises that this wouldn’t be the case. Their cash shop tactics are pretty sinister as well.
In fact, I wont be buying any game that profits NC Soft after this. Cash shops should be about value, not a scam.

I imagine that the rumormill has suggested this because this is the trending way that MMORPGs release expansions and not based off of any real data. Perhaps they’ll fall in line with that, but I’m not sure I buy it. They are still way too focused on significant regular monthly content updates.

ANet have different teams, each team works on different content.
Anet have already stated in at least one post that a small team has been working on a expansion since the day the game was released.
They have also said GW2 has a module design, so new content is relatively easy to bolt on. We have already seen this with the 3 monthly events so far.
LoL.
Of course not.
Yes, as soon as I could.
Yes, when they release it.
Tarnished Coast
Next fall if it has a bunch of new cool stuff, yes.
Absolutely yes!
No, because it’ll be free come January/February ^^

hehe now wouldnt that be something. I can tell you one thing Anet will score loads and loads of browny points with the community if that ever happend

I kind of doubt it that they’ll get those brownie points. However it was stated in a recent promo for jan/february that there will be an expansions worth of content coming in those two months.

Depends on the timing and what’s been done to fix the game. Less than a year from initial game release… no. If the imbalances and bugs are still around… no. If things are fixed and they don’t try to push it out too soon… then defiantly yes.
So when this does happen I hope they take their sweet time on it to make it as high quality as possible. I don’t mind waiting. I do mind buggyness that makes it feel like it’s still in a beta phase.

Absolutely. I would word it, however, as had. Anet had a great record. GW2 is a new game. They already changed it for the worse with things like Necromancer making it a chase class. Also given the recent events in GW2, I would say, that the upcoming expansion however far in the future it is will be a disappointment. The launch for GW2 was a disappointment and Lost Shores was a disappointment.
I will not expect much for the expansion, but I feel even with a low expectation I will be disappointed. I will not be buying an expansion for GW2.
80 Necro, 80 Ranger, 80 Warrior, 80 Mesmer, 80 Engineer.
I would even though I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that ANet are including the expansions for free….
Not sure. Too many factors and too early to tell. I heard they are making a Skyrim mmorpg.
Without a doubt YES.
The game is so good.
Its not that I ‘would,’ I’m going to.
I wonder if they’ll do pre-purchase bonuses for xpac like they did with core game.
I wonder how many people will continue to play GW2 but will never buy xpac. Guesses?
and @x the animal, they will be adding ’expansion’s worth of content’ to the game over time for free. but they will also have official expansions that they will charge for, if i understand it all correctly.
its hard to remember we’re alive for the last time
Yeah I’d buy a GW1 expansion.
its hard to remember we’re alive for the last time
No,
This one needs fixing 1st.
Their getting close to my no buy list like Activision/ Blizzard.
Either way no biggy, I’ve a list of other things to spend my $$ on.
Only if it’s such a monumental change from vanilla GW2 that it acutally makes it fun.
why not if it keeps the level of the current content, and is not a pay-to-win trojan horse from nexon.
Probably not as I have no one to play this game with.
If the expansion has some gameplay tweaking, traits revamping and such then i’d be a yes as some of my friends might come back.
Not sure. Too many factors and too early to tell. I heard they are making a Skyrim mmorpg.
Yes! not Skyrim tho, TESO looking really good i’m excited! it’s going to have a similar wvwvw with 3 factions haha
When they fix the game I originally bought, then sure.
But we’ve got some serious work to do on the core game before we go talking about expansions.
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.
Absolutely. Got the money right here /pats pocket
Still a ton of story left in this one that I’m looking forward to first
Looks like they may be rolling out an expac end of 2013 according to that report by Daewoo – sounds like good timing to me.
It really depends what would be in it. If they made the game more challenging on the PvE side I might just be tempted.
Yep, I will buy any expansions for GW2 that ANet produces. I enjoy the game (I don’t think it’s perfect, but I have fun playing) and look forward to continuing to explore Tyria and defeating more Elder Dragons.

That’s good. I hope its all of the continents together.
Probably not. Too many times I’ve attempted to play the game the way I enjoy it and been thwarted.

Not if they don’t fix the economy, drop rates, remove the gear treadmill and give us a proper automated lfg tool.
If they fix all this, I’ll buy it.
If the game is in the state it’s in right now? Absolutely not. There’s no point in continuing to play when I cannot farm for goods with permaDR and broken mf, there’s no point in continuing when my class will most likely still have the same bugs it’s had since launch, and the map completion in a pvp zone plus the requirement to do fractals to do anything meaningful is not what I signed up for when I bought this game.
They need to return to their manifesto before I consider any expansions.
