Would you buy an expansion?
Yes and No, I really want to have an expansion, but the money would be the problem, and I understand Anet needs more income from the game, I just want to fight Jormag, Kralkatorrik, The Destroyer(I think it is the Destoyers dragon name?).
I belive you are thinking of Primordius?
Yes I would. I love this game, and I have a job
Probably.
/15 bottles of beer on the wall.
Considering i am still playing and enjoying the game. Yes
I hope its free
Yes, I’d buy an expansion as of right now. Unless the game were to become excessively grindy or too blatant of a cash shop grab in the coming months, I would likely enjoy seeing something new in Tyria such as Cantha or Elona.
The only way I would play an expansion is if it was full blown F2P.
That’s before any of the several major fixes I think the game could use, or any new and exciting content an expansion deserves.
As long as it doesn’t raise the level-cap, I’d definitely buy any expansion, since I’m still having a blast 500 hours in. To be honest, it feels like the game is just starting to gain momentum and we haven’t seen the best of it yet.
I would in a heartbeat. No, it’s not perfect, but it’s still the only game I play in the few hours a week I can spare to game.
dunno.
On one hand the game was awesome, when it was born.
on the other his problem get worse and Patches makes the game more unfun to the point people started being scared of Patches/updates rathert than be thrilled.
Any new release comes out with massive complaints (and they are not baseless actually) because they seems to take away more things from the game instead of adding.
(all imho)
If they just give some proofs they learned how to manage this game i would buy expansions in a heartbeat…..(also buy gems).
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Yes. I love the world design, and the events, and would be all over an expansion that offered me vast new areas to explore.
Anything else included in the expansion would be gravy.
As long as the next area is in Cantha then yup.
Sure, we ( me and my wife ) will not. I don’t wanna pay for BugWars2’s expension.
I was happy to buy Guild Wars Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall and Eye of The North.
I am most certainly happy to buy any and all Guild Wars 2 expansions
Hell yea. .
The only thing i can go on its the exp for gw1. so if there anything like that with the amount of things that were added then i wouldn’t think twice..
Yes, in a heartbeat.
in the house…in a heartbeat
If it offered endgame that didnt involve mindless skins, yes.
If Im just gonna steamroll dungeons all day with my eyes closed, with no possbility to get a better tier of gear, than no. Lol.
GW2 is going to fail with its zero end game “everyones a winner” attitude. Its getting silly.
Possibly if its packed with overland pve content. Definately if its packed with overland pve content and they make lootdrops generous and relevant.

Exactly the kind of player thats going to kill this game lol.
Yes of course, why wouldn’t I? Its a good solid fun game, I’m loving exploring the world, as are all my friends. Why have you even posted the question, unless its some sort of veiled threat about how you wouldn’t. Well, I doubt they will worry too much, as the other 3 million players will.

And you are exactly the kind of player who will kill this community. Way to pee on another persons fun time.
If and only if the level cap remains at 80 I would buy any expansion without blinking. If the level cap raises, I will delete my C:\Guild Wars 2\
I’ve had it with games that destroy any old content with “expansions” which are more like “unspansions”. I’ve remade characters 2 times in WoW with TCB and WotlK. In Aion I didn’t even bother. I’m done with that. I expect a game to respect the time I’ve put in it, and raising levels does exactly the opposite.

They confirmed pre-launch that they will be increasing the Level Cap.

I will say. I quit playing for a while. I came back. I improved and progressed throughout the game. And i started enjoying it more as i geared to having some goals for myself. So to answer your question. I would gladly buy an expansion from a net.
Yes. I would buy an expansion or actually two of each kind. I bought two copies of this game and a second computer so both me and my daughter can play, which makes it the most expensive game ever in my home.
Still at this time the cost per played hour is somewhere around 70 cents just for me. It is going down daily as no new costs are added. I am too poor to buy gems, so those are acquired only in game with gold.

What the hell are you talking about? CAP inc somehow makes your character less viable? Good lord GW2 community QQ more.
On the contrary. GW1 community coming into GW2 expecting some basic principles to be adhered to. You know … level cap as a constant. It is not QQ, it is a personal choice that I don’t want to play games that destroy my character every once in a while.
Yes… Cap increase not only makes my character less viable, it actually makes all content. Not only that … a level cap increase actively destroys old characters and content which is why I’m against it. I don’t believe gaming companies have a right to reset character progress. You can disagree but this is my philosophy. A.net can disagree too and they’d lose me as a long time customer.

You’re assuming Anet is going to introduce Level Cap exactly as WoW does, or other MMOs.

I’d like to see what I’m going to get for my hubby’s hard-earned before I make a commitment, until that time I will hold my council and say – I really don’t know.
As an mmo this game is a total fail in my opinion. The fact that people like that Adam Smith and the team behind the gem store seem to think everything is hunky dory pisses me off immensely.
In short: No, I will not buy an expansion for a game called Trade Wars 2.
Dunno. Elder Srolls mmo has the potential to kill GW2. Lets wait and see.

Every new MMO that comes out has the potential to kill this or that. Perhaps one day, it’ll actually happen. Probably not in my lifetime though.

Not a chance.
Anet proven to me that they dont value me or my time compared to others so they get bubkis.
When they learn to treat everyone equal value everyone and revisit their manifesto and prelaunch materials I may.
Until then FORGET IT

No it was people like YOU who killed this game Nov 15th.

Something like this.
Anyway to reply to OP, i dont know. i want to look the game development first, its to early to decide now.
If it remain sticky to the actual sistuation, probably i wont buy it.
It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill"
LOL
I don’t know. I had a great time leveling my first two accounts to 80 but PvE got boring after that. I think the story missions of the next expansion will suffer from the same problem. The selling point of a new expansion would be the new explorable areas due to the fantastic art design in GW2 as well as new skills for each class. If GW2 gets a huge WvW overhaul and the expansion unlocks new skills, then I’ll probably buy it.
Unless it offers something I really want to do or experience I highly doubt it.
In its current state I am constantly questioning if I am enjoying my time in game. :/ While there are plenty of things that I do like, there is more of a constant state of unknowing with bugs and things that have yet to be fixed since release. If they don’t fix it before another expansion, the chances of them ever fixing it is slim. And thats disappointing to me and quite a turn off.
Not to mention if they add more levels to the current game I’ll probably just give up after that entirely. Nothing against leveling, and 5 – 10 more levels isn’t a huge deal. But I enjoyed GW1 because I knew I could step away for a couple months, come back, and still be in the same place. So far in GW2 its kind of the same, except for ascended gear, which can be ignored if you really don’t want to bother getting it. If more levels are added I’ll probably just decide to place my time elsewhere is all. Getting older does that to you.
if i can buy it trough gold exchange to diamonds i would propably buy it, but i wouldnt pay real money for sure, this game dissappointed me huge
Only if dismissing returns is taken out of the game and they balance the classes.
Yes. I’d be lying if I said it depended on (x).
I’d be extremely happy if it turned out to be Cantha, too, though I don’t think they’ll follow the same order they did in GW1.
Very likely. Me and the gf will have the expansion.
Though I’m very anxious to know why certain threads are being conveniently necroed right before the update. And they all seem to be negative. Very curious.
But again, I’d buy the expansion.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
If it doesn’t make me do something I don’t want to do or require too much time to keep my gear at the top of the chain for all my alts, then maybe. But there has to be stuff added that is worth paying (and playing) for. And nonsense like not being able to get a freaking quiver without running fractals has to stop.
Including some Tacky Armor of Overcompensation for people that grind for hours so they can feel they’re better than other players is OK. But staple items that a wide variety of players would want should be acquirable through a variety of reasonable means.

Nope…. i lost trust and the believe about this company
Pretty much same here. I wouldnt buy an expansion purely on what Anet have shown to be terrible customer service/feedback
Same reason I dont buy gems now. I had intended to buy gems to support Anet (spending same as my sub would have cost) But now, even that has stopped. Until Anet change their ethics, I wont be spending any more money with them, expansion or not !
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
You bet I would.
I’ve really been enjoying GW2, is it perfect ? No. But it is a lot of fun.
Exactly how I fell about it. Actually, I’d buy 3.
Depends on the content, but most likely I would, without hesitation
I’d do it much more happily if the didn’t raise the lvl cap though.

Opposite for me, no lvl cap rise, no buy/play expansion

This.
My husband will also get an expansion even though he is heavily into BF3
It is a fun game for us to play together.
Sadly no :<. I used to be one of the most ardent fans (but then I took an arrow in the knee? actually, no) but now I feel so betrayed by the game’s horribly sluggish and unresponsive UI, half baked philosophy of class roles and overt casualness.
It’s a real deal breaker to me when a company refuses to tackle one of the worst issues (namely slooooooow UI) just because most people don’t even notice it (because they’re too slow themselves? I don’t know) hoping that everyone else will “deal with it”, instead making more worthless content such as Karka dynamic events.
They promised us a responsive game and I had a plethora of understanding on launch due to server issues, but not anymore as it is clear they simply don’t care. It’s bad production quality… Compare it to Tera for example. On top of that they simply locked my thread about it making it abundantly clear that my pleas are NOT heard.
This saddens me greatly because I really believed in ArenaNet.
Honestly wish folks would actually find some middle ground here, instead of near blindly attacking one another due to differing views.
@Thread:
NO….DEAR GOD NO!
Hell, I’d buy an expansion if it just consisted of awesome medium armor skins, so yes.
