[suggestion] make spirit shards sellable
I’d be fine with this. Right now I’m sitting on top of so many spirit shards, and I have absolutely no use for them. I keep getting more, and yet I’m not sure where or how. I’d like to pawn most of them and be done with it.
Only problem I see with this suggestion is that spirit shards are a currency. In order to be tradeable, they’d have to be converted into items, which would take a lot of time and effort to do. Also, many players will awake to find their inventories full of stacks and stacks of shards out of nowhere.
make the mystic forge nps in LA sell mystic coins for shards. 2problems solved @ once
More uses for spirit shards please. I have over 4 thousand spirit shards. I get more each day and I have no interest in the available uses for them. I would like to either sell them or if that’s not feasible, to have more uses for them. One possible other use is for the Mystic Forge attendant to sell character boosts such as a speed boost, magic find, harvesting boost, PvP/WvW boosts, etc. Each boost lasting X amount of time.
ANet may give it to you.
Is there still value in them when making mystic forge stuff (example of 250 needed for the anomaly), to sell on tp, that use them heavily or is the cost down to just materials now?
I suspect you would find the market flooded by either spirit shards or any converted material bought with them. I mean look at resonating fragments. Sure they saturated the market by flooding us with acquisition of them but ya spirit shards are pretty worthless after a certain point and getting them is a passive effort for most.

Very nice link ty. Its crazy some of the things the community has assembled.
So sad to see the anomaly so poor on spirit shard profit ;-(
Yeah, that website is only so valuable. It assumes that trades will remain the same and that people are willing to buy the buy prices of the item. The reality is much different: People will undercut you constantly, and sometimes nobody will bother to buy the item. The worst trade I had made me lose 200 gold.
I can’t imagine ANet making these tradeable, after going through considerable trouble divorcing them from XP accumulation and keeping them account bound.
It would also be tricky to offer new things to spend them on: there are already a lot and some people find it among the most burdensome aspects of forging, because (unlike most of us posting here), they are short on spirit shards. On the other hand, anyone playing for over a year is likely to have more than they can spend, even taking into account the various promotion and mystic forge recipes available.
My preference is that there not be so many different types of mystic items bought with the shards. There’s no reason to have a 20-shard item and a 100-shard item — why not just have us use 5 of the 20-shard item? (especially since it’s incredibly easy to buy the number you want now).
Yea they should, I’ve got almost 6k spirit shards and they’re just piling up and collecting dust.
dang….. I’ve never got enough of spirit shards. 5000 hours of gameplay. Crafted so many legendaries to sell them. I wish I had collected a lot before the change from skill points
I’ve thought of another possible use besides temporary buffs or selling them. Use them to buy Summoning Stones for PvE content.
In Guild Wars 1 you could buy or craft summoning stones that gave you a temporary NPC ally to fight beside you, like the Fire Elemental powder but longer lasting. They can be inactive in WvW/PvP and dissapear whenever there’s enough people to turn off miniatures so people don’t use them in PvE zerg content. There’s been a number of times when I wouldn’t have minded a temporary NPC ally when playing.

Trading them will just crash the price unless there are more uses. Instead, I propose:
- A “mastery” setting that gives you spirit shards every time you fill the bar, so you can earn spirit shards more quickly, if you need to. (Obviously, this is a reference to when you got a skill point every time you filled the experience bar at 80.)
- More things that require them, for people who have too many.
At the very least they could make it so you can send them. Like being able to send money to other players, you could send the shards to a friend or guild member that might have use for them. They might even send something useful back to you.
