Dueling was something they were open to and wanted to add to PvE.
Actual PvP however will never happen in PvE. It simply goes against one of their most basic design goals. They could add something like an arena, but it would most likely act like an activity rather than something in the world that you could accidently walk in to.
Actual PvP in PvE will only happen in PvP/E zones, aka WvW.

If it’s 100% mutual between all involved and no one can use it to disrupt my game I don’t see an issue with it. However this isn’t possible because you can’t load 2 different combat mechanics without totally lagging out the zone.

FFA PvP sucks, because all it does is create distrust. One of the great things about GW2 is people actually helping each other in combat.
That said, I would still like PvP events in the open world. Not that hard, Anet has done it before (Shatterer assault on Ashford during beta). Divide players into teams, let them duke it out. One side joins the pact, another joins the corrupted and they fight to capture points much like WvW for 30-45 minutes or something. Then the zone goes back to normal.

In wvw the pve element basically consist of rallybot guards and lords that cant stay alive longer than 30s vs a zerg. Saying wvw is pvpve is almost like saying Legacy of Foefire is PvPvE because of the lord and its minions…
Imagine if we had something like Aion. 2 player’s faction and 1 pve faction. Or you are doing Teq and another guild shows up to gank you.
I kinda miss open world pk and getting that ’’red’’ name where you are going to get caught by guards if you have killed too many people.

In every game I’ve ever played with 2 factions, one faction always seemed to dominate, even if it was different from server to server. Not to mention there’s plenty of small squirmishes in WvW if you don’t run with the zerg. It’s what you make of it.
What makes you think 2 faction PvP wouldn’t end up zerg v zerg in this game? Because I don’t see it.

If you want PvP action in PvE, go to WvW. This is the “open world PvP” mode in GW2.

I would support a separate server with true open world PVP (where you can attack anyone you want… regardless of whether they are in your faction or not). That way you know that whoever chooses to be on that server is OK with all the ganking and general bad blood that comes with the territory of open world PVP.
For those very same reasons however, I would never support incorporating PVP into current PVE established servers.

As a general rule no, but I could see implementing one of the new adventures that involved some type of corruption mechanic pitting players against each other temporarily (similar to the branded event from the BWEs).
No. In fact. NO. How many times do the people who want to overturn the whole design structure of GW2 and introduce open-world PvP have to be told this, anyway? Cooperation among players in PvE is one of the great hallmarks of this game, and one that distinguishes it from so many other MMO’s.
Even more to the point, open-world PvP is unneccessary, because there are already two formats in which players can compete against other players: WvW and PvP, and both of them get a lot of attention from the devs (in fact, there are any number of posts here in which players complain that ANet is focusing on WvW and PvP to the detriment of PvE, but that’s a whole different topic). Leave PvE alone as what it was designed to be.

You can technically already PvP in PvE: Costume Brawl.
… and that’s how they would implement PvP in PvE if they ever actually did it. You would have to “flag” yourself, you would get an alternate PvP health bar that would take any PvP boons/conditions and it would end as soon as either you were defeated, entered PvE combat or pressed an “exit” button.

as we all remember the part with the bandits in silverwastes, u take a buff and you apear hostile to players(they can atk you but you cant attack back) and also seen the same at PoI DEVs can make them selves hostile if they wish.
so my question is : would you like there to be some small arena/out post some place in middle of a PVE map, and wen you just step insdie you can fight other players.
in a nutshell would you like a PVP area inside a PVE zone
As a spectacle absolutely YES!
It would be cool to see some 1v1 or whatever in an arena in specific zones. I’d prefer it be confined like the cages were in the queens pavilion was. Maybe let players bet on the fights too. Could be pretty cool and I could see Gnashblade doing something like this anyway.
Maybe add an arena to new LA once it’s rebuilt. I think lore wise it would work for the expansion too.
