Hello,
Everyone wants to glide in Tyria, so why not make it a mastery track unlock? I’m not sure of the technical challenges with making this happen, but I think it would be a great and rewarding track to add for character progression.

The original maps aren’t designed for gliding, adding it now would just invalidate vista’s, as well as some JP puzzles. Without adding anything to the game.

Why not make it with 100% world completion then? Specific areas might work too. I’d love to hang glide the cliffs over Wizard’s Fief.

They’ll probably add bring gliding to Central Tyria in the future, probably in the next xpac.

Thread after thread after thread asking for Pact Tyria gliding, explanation after explanation after explanation as to why it would require a full remake of every map from the ground up (equivalent work to building it in the first place, ergo years of work to end up with something almost exactly the same as we already have).
I’m starting to think this topic needs a merged thread the same way “Mounts” does.
It’s not as bad as Donari says, it would not require a full remake of the maps, but it would take some work. They would need to patch-up various areas so that you can’t get out of the map, it would invalidate some Vistas, but that’s not really a huge problem since you couldn’t even advance the tree unless you were significantly invested in the game, so. . . invalidate away, the person’s likely done them anyways.
JPs would be tricky. On the one hand, gliding wouldn’t completely trivialize them all, since it can only go down and most JPs are mostly up. It would just provide a safetynet to a lot of them. More problematic, however, are the ones where you travel down for all or most of it, and gliding would make these segments much easier. Perhaps they could implement the gliding situationally, either making it only work in some places, or only not work in some places. There would need to be a UI element to make clear which portions of the world you cannot glide in.
