Please make HoT mobs drop loot
I actually prefer a model where the reward comes as part of completing the event rather than killing the mob. It fits better with group play, encourages more diversity in events and discourages grinding.
Mobs have barely EVER dropped loot other than trash… except for the Scarlet Invasion LS event. That was pretty good loot back then. And that was only equalled by the 1st Queen Pavillion event… The 2nd one was terrible for loot.
If you’re not getting your bags so full in one round of Silverwastes that you have to spend 10 minutes or so sorting out all the loot, you’re not playing the same game I am. I barely open 5 bandit chests in a session there, I do bull escorts and fort defenses, the Breach, the Vinewrath (where I do open 4 or 5 chests), and one or two Nightmare Keys. I get so many blues and greens I’m hitting Agent of Entropy at least once a day, a good smattering of yellows, an occasional exotic, and a steady stream of T5 and T6 mats. I almost never have a boost to my Magic Find beyond my account bonus and built up luck (I’m somewhere mid 150’s % now).
As a bonus, the loot comes in the form of stackable bags, so I don’t get my inventory choked until I’m in a safe place to vendor, TP, and bank the results.
I like this model far more than having to loot mobs I kill. I mean, if I mortar fire down a distant champ in a Vinewrath lane, do I have to abandon my post on the mortar to run get the loot? No thanks.
I dont care who drops or doesnt drop what. I just want magic and gold find to actually matter, otherwise it’s pointless and should be scratched.
I been getting loot off everything in SW even in the fort defenses, just I can’t do enough damage to qualify for loot (which means no exp either) most times. LS personal story though, nothing drops loot of course.
Also I have upwards 600% MF with all my boosts. I might have to join a party to loot qualify.
Mobs in living story instances give no loot.
For some strange reason, they don’t trigger sigils like the Superior Sigils of Bloodlust that I have on my weapons either.
I actually kind of prefer the whole “no mob loot, rewards are the end/set intervals” thing.
Running around looting everything can frankly get annoying at times.
Not that I would want to see mob looting removed as a whole.
I am torn on this… I like the new system, but it sure is nice to get loot from the mobs you kill… But I think it may be better overall for the health of the game if loot is given as reward for doing events etc. However, it invalidates Magic Find, since atm it does not affect containers.
Please let Magic Find affect containers…

No, it’s not that it discourages “grinding” it discourages “farming”. Unless you think grinding = farming… inwhich case you’re wrong, but feel free to be wrong.

SW is a champ farm map. It’s just farming events for the shovels to get to the champ bags. It’s actually much much faster champ farm than any other one before it. I’ve gotten more champ bags in one hour there than I ever had at FG or QD for the same hour.

Yeah but there is plenty of good reasons not to chest farm. And many maps that dont. Also when i want to avoid champ farms i mean like the FGS one. Where people intentionally take forever to kill the ice shamans. That was not fun when i just wanted to run an alt through the LS. Had to wait 20 mins on that event because of all the farmers. Funny thing is they could have made more money just by doing SE p1/p3 champ farm and they wouldnt have bothered others.

I second this. Plus I really prefer how the no-loot mobs in the SW events make (many ) people concentrate on bringing their best combat-wise to the stage, instead of bringing whatever weapon-/trait-set tags the most mobs for biggest loot chance.
Sure, there’s still a bunch of guardians around mindlessly spamming staff #1 (old habbits die hard ), but I can bring my sword guardian and concentrate on bringing done the most dangerous mobs instead of waving around my staff just because staff auto attack gets by far a superior amount of loot out of the event (while my actual contribution to the event is much smaller at the same time).

Indeed. When I want to make coin I quickly clear dungeons. The only “farming” I do now is in SW on specific chest farm maps… although I do miss the Scarlet Invasion and 1st Queens Pavillion from time to time
I’m torn on this a little.
My biggest issue with the new loot drop system implemented in areas like SW is that they are mice killers.
They require so much double clicking to first open the bag of loot, then to salvage. The amount of clicks on my mouse has really grown.
If they would add some features to complement the new loot drop system it would be fantastic. Salvage all for one. Just some extra features that would slow down the amount of clicks and double clicking neccessary to do everything.
the new loot system is the only way to make players to play the way as intended. sure sometimes i miss the loot from mobs, but one journey to orr and the toxic chat about rota champ kills or successfull finished events reminds me why its the better way. its really sad anet have to use such tricks to make the players play the game as intended.
