…And played GW1
You are by de facto Ascalonian, and a direct descendant of the gw1 PC.
And if you don’t identify as such, you are Krytan-swamp-dweller-loving-Charr-snuggling-Mursaat-worshipping-wishy-washy-Mursaat-defying-White-Manteling-turncoat-Shining-Bladeing-piece-of-kitten.
Jaguar Kitten Lion kitten!
Also kitten Rurick. AM I seriously the only one who thought he sucked?!
I love my asura and sylvaria, humans look NOMRAL and boring
Glad I’m not a human then. I also didn’t play GW1 (yet). Can’t bring myself to…. so many humans. TOO MANY.
Eeeeh…
What?
You kinda do get to choose your heritage somewhere in the story (can’t remember when or where) but I think you can choose Canthan and Elonian too.
If anything you are Krytan by default as that is where you start and supposedly live.
Seems you dislike the humans… soo don’t play one?
Either way your post makes nearly no sense at all.
Actually every gw2 player would have to be descended from the refugees who went to kryta. As all the ascalonians who stayed are dead.
One day we shall reclaim our lands and drive the Charr back!
Ascalon Eternal!
Charr rules…. Just admit it.

Are you smoking Laurels?!!
All you get to pick is if you were really poor, middle poor, or a Noble(who still lives in the “poor” part of town).
I happen to like Humans. I just like some more than others.
My ritualist was Canthan. Suck it.

Ebonhawke disagrees.
Honestly, when I think of humanoids for my next class I always go through this throught process.
“Lets see, Norn have tattoos, actual muscles for females and spirits that actually do interact with them from time to time…………..Sylvari are the youngest race, have the rather interesting dream of dreams, the most beautiful characters when done well and they glow…………but humans have……………………………………………………………………Gods…….that do nothing now…….I guess…….no female muscle to speak of…..nothing that really stands out honestly…….”.
Thus I end up laughing at humans, and making a gorgeous sylvari thief that I have yet to see any human even come close to equaling visually.
On-topic: I didn’t like Rurick, but I’d take him any day over that worthless king of a father he had.

My human sailed in from about a year in Vvardenfel, settled in Tyria for a few, moved to Cyrodiil, went back to Tyria, left to spend a year just outside the Amarr homeworld, went back to Tyria AGAIN, dropped in on the Shire, stopped by Skyrim, and finally reappeared again in Tyria.
If I trace it back far enough, I think Commander Keen ends up being his great great great grandfather.
Technically, if you’re human in Tyria you are an alien.
O_O
…but I like your sentiment OP.
Are you smoking Laurels?!!
All you get to pick is if you were really poor, middle poor, or a Noble(who still lives in the “poor” part of town).
Pick the “sister killed by centaurs” option, and at one point they ask you where your family line is from. This lets the game set the correct look for the sister.
My main was Luskan. My elementalist is a noble, which makes her Krytan, not Ascalonian, since the Ascalonian nobility was wiped out before they ever got to Kryta.
Nothing abou the OP makes any sense. Charr > Humans in every meaningful way. Kitten Ascalon and the Ascalonians.

Logan Thackerey asked me where my line hails from. I chose Elona.
WTB Elin(TERA) race in GW2.
Would delete all my chars and re level up my elins
x3
In my personal made-up backstory my human character actually is descended from my GW1 characters. But all of them. Which makes her 40% Ascalonian, 30% Canthan and 30% Elonian. (Plus some extras I haven’t decided on, because 10 ancestors isn’t enough for all the generations needed.)
This gave me a bit of a dilemma when I got to the point in the Dead Sister storyline where Logan asks where your character and their sister are from (the only options are Krytan, Ascalonian, Elonian and Canthan) but in the end I picked Krytan on the basis that her family has lived there for ages. (Which fortunately got the right skin and hair colours for her sister to look like her.)
I have to say though that if it wasn’t for wanting a character descended from my GW1 characters I probably wouldn’t have made a human at all, I’d have gone for another sylvari because they’re so much more customisable.
Thus I end up laughing at humans, and making a gorgeous sylvari thief that I have yet to see any human even come close to equaling visually.
Now that is something highly subjective
I haven’t played Guild Wars 1, so I guess that doesn’t apply to me.

No, because we don’t want paedo-bait material here. Let the pervs play with their little undressed dolls over there.
Actually every gw2 player would have to be descended from the refugees who went to kryta. As all the ascalonians who stayed are dead.
Don’t know where you got this but it’s completely wrong. First of all Kryta was a colony of Elona. It was the only of the three human kingdoms on the continent of Tyria (not the world of Tyria) to survive the Charr invasion after the Searing. Orr fell, Ascalon fell, Kryta did not fall.
So the remaining humans in theory would be Ascalonian descendants and Krytan descends, not to mention Canthan and Elonans who got trapped here in the intervening years and never left.
There’s no evidence at all that humans in this game are direct descendents of Ascalonians and in fact, you’re given a choice in the human story line to pick where you’re descended from. Ascalon is only one of the choices.
Pre ascalon was the Best, charrs should Pay for this xD
Guild War 2 should be separate spin-off series from the guild wars series. It is so different, and the focus clearly is NOT in humans favour should be a sign of it. But the retconning of lore is the main thrust of it to market towards new players of the guild wars franchise. I mean, the change the Charr went into the current spot-light is very different and has put a lot of guild wars 1 players despise guild wars 2, as players went BACK to GW1 because Anets new product failed them.

This. I was going to say something like this. I don;t feel any connection at all between GW and GW2.

I just wanna kill those filthy Charrs again.
That’s fine with me.

Not necessarily true OP.
If you roll human, and select “Dead Sister” as one of your race specific story options, during the ’Fall of Falcon Company" story component Thackery asks for your background. Of which you can choose – Krytan, Canthan, Elonian, or Ascalonian
“Yes. We’re both Krytan.
No, my sister and I trace our lineage to Elona.
Actually, we’re of Canthan descent.
Ascalonian, sir, and proud of it.”
Actually every gw2 player would have to be descended from the refugees who went to kryta. As all the ascalonians who stayed are dead.
There’s Ebonhawke (which is an ascalonian city). Separatist are a thing as well.
And back to OP, there were 3 possible human origin nationalities in GW1 (Ascalonian, Canthan and Istani), and even greater range of choices in gw2 (that adds Krytan, and is far less specific on the Canthan/Elonian region of origin, which allows the possibility of Kurzick, Luxon, Kournan and Vabbian lineage).

Mainly I just wanted an excuse to post her and knew someone would take the bait XD
I’m Canthan and always will be, European themed ethnicities are way too overused in every game.
I did make the mistake of starting my ele (and also main) in Ascalon only to have the game only done in the proper order timeline/game order wise. But I made a pvp only version of her to have it correct. So my charter looked Ascalonian rather than Canthan, but I told people this was because I had to do the games in order Prophesies→Factions→Nightfall→Eotn I wish I could do a makeover in GW 1 but it was cash only.
My GW2 character identifies as Canthan. I created my GW1 acct when Factions went live, creating by default a Canthan. He traveled to Elona and Tyria, but eventually settled back in Cantha (in the caverns on Shing Jea Isle). He fathered children, one of which would flee to Kryta during Cantha’s reunification. Of this 2nd generation (GW1 being 1st), one would eventually find its way to Elona and bring forth its own bloodline. As for the line directly related to my GW1 main (all-male children), everyone stays in Tyria up until my GW2 character’s birth. His parents are killed by the White Mantle is brought up in a foster family who happen to be nobles. Being a noble, he has access to much more literature, history, & resources than others, and is able to trace his heritage back to a powerful necromancer from Cantha.
Though the bloodline is diluted, Canthan features are very prominent on my character. He knows this. He also knows he’s inherited the same temper & sense of justice from his ancestor, which is why he’s chosen to become a necromancer. After witnessing the path his life has taken, he’s convinced he is his late ancestor, Sors Immani, reincarnate (much how some people have believed to be Napoleon Bonaparte or Ghengis Khan reincarnate).
If you roll a Human Character in GW2
Then that Human Character would likely stand up afterward and roll your GW2 Character.

While this was totally unrelated I actually went with Utu-Noranti Pralatongs way of saying it (Edit: Farscape). At least that’s my interpretation, I’m not sure if this is the official sub-title way of spelling it.

I logged into the forums specifically to respond to these. You see, have my respect. Commander Keen shall always hold a special place in my heart. As a child, I struggled through the hell that was MS DOS Code to play that game. I devoted a week to figuring it out.
Oh gods, Commander Keen! XD That brings back memories. Along with the classics like King’s Quest, Wolfenstein 3D and the SSI D&D games. Anybody else remember having to mess around with EMS to get enough memory to run some of those games?
My GW2 Human Mesmer is a descendant of my GW1 Ascalonian Warrior and Canthan Assassin, but her Canthan great-grandmother is the only Canthan in her ancestry, so she identifies as Ascalonian.

Nope. Because a Gw1 character can be Canthan or Elonian. Thus you entire point is false.
Also, Krytan’s at least had brains. Adelbern did not.
Rurik was far, far better then his father.
edit: Also I can make a GW2 human completely unrelated to any of my Gw1 characters. Infact, My prophecies characters (One was a monk as I recall, and a canthan native as well. Other was an ele), neither have a descendant in GW2 atm. My factions, Kurzick necromancer has descendants in GW2 though, as does my Istani warrior.

Ascalonian nobility was not wiped out.
See Duke Wade Samuelsson of Ebonhawke. And the various Lords and Ladies of Rurikton, Ascalon Settlement, and Ebonhawke.
I haven’t played Guild Wars 1, so I guess that doesn’t apply to me.
Ikr, I have no idea what he’s talking about. :P
I have a general idea about what he’s talking about. I researched a lot of the lore, so he’s pretty much just calling us traitors because the Charr we’re at war with humans in the first one whereas now they kind of get along.
