Disconnected at the final phase! [Merged]
I got disconnected as well right at the end. I’m very disappointed that I missed out on the end portion, including the loot and exp. The one time event was a cool idea, but this is just a game and real life should be taken into account.
Is there some kind of compromise that can happen for any future one time events. Maybe have it repeat a few times, giving people the chance to participate or try again if a disconnect ruins the end of the event. What about if the event was available for a few days and once you completed it, it was no longer available to you.
The one time event was a neat idea, but I don’t think it worked out. I was excited to be a part of it, but incredibly let down when it fell apart at the end.
DC’ed at the end too with a crash. No chest or rewards for all that effort. Great.

Honestly I’m proud of myself for not nerd raging as much as the blood rushing to my temples tells me I should.
I too played the in the final event for over 2 hours to finally reach the end and help kill the Ancient Karka only to be disconnected as the final cinematic began. I immediately logged back in and discovered that there had been a chest which of course i was nto given access too. I love this game and loved GW as well for that matter but I am sorely disappointed in this event weekend. Seeing posts of the loot soem received from the chests irritates me even more. I feel all the time spent and efforts in these events this weekend were wasted. Too many bugs, crashes and lack of rewards. What could and should have been a fun adventure was tedious and a huge letdown. I had tons fo fun playing in the halloween events, the lost shores event is an epic fail as far as I am concerned.

Not even remotely the same issue as the people posting in this thread. Complaining about one event where you likely died due to inexperience (just going on an assumption, you probably stood on the death location of the Ancient Karka and fell into the middle of the lava) is a pretty poor basis for demanding a make up reward. But sure, blame the developers and judge the game with a skewed perception due to a player error. Staging this fight as a one-time event was obviously an awful decision, but no one can be blamed for you dying but yourself.
Don’t be like that. Most people here wouldn’t even have an issue if the despawn for the chest wasn’t so fast. You should get a chance to loot for participating, no matter how bad you did.
Also, there were spots even before the end where you could just randomly drop into the lava (I know, I did, and very nearly missed the chest because of it – I died just as the ancient karka was about to go down and arrived again just as the cutscene was finishing). It’s poor level design, not player error. Also, even if OP fell into the lava pool after ancient karka was defeated, allowing for an area where res’ing isn’t possible at the end of a one-time only event with a chest that despawns is bad level design also.
Problem would’ve been easily solved by having items mailed to players instead of in a chest.
It would be really nice if ANET decides to give those of us who got DC/stuck/lagged out/crashed/etc on the last moments of the event just the 20 slot bag.
But I doubt it will happen because there is very little that can be done to prove who was there or not.
I was on an overflow where we were killing a champion karka on the bridge, but the lag caused me to disconnect. By the time I came back, the event was over. I tried logging out to find an overflow where the event was still running, but every overflow I went to had already finished the event.
I just sent in a support ticket, though. Just be patient, everyone, and stop cursing and arguing with each other. It is not helping anyone.
I had constant DC issues this entire event, kept reconnecting to make it all the way to the end. I disconnected RIGHT AFTER the final cutscene. I could SEE the chest. I’ve never been so disappointed in an event in a major game such as this one.
I was booted a few minutes before the event and couldn’t participate despite repeated attempts to get in game. Net was working just fine, and could get to character select, just kept getting booted when I tried to log in. Stayed up all night to do the event, quite disappointed.
Had serious and consistent connection issues throught the event. Consderable problems with progression with NPCs not moving at all to escort them. Also crashing on the final boss and not being able to log back in all culminating in a serious upset at seeing what people did get as a reward. Frustration ensues due to my participation resulting in nothing.
Just managed to log back in, no reward waiting for me. 2.5 hrs of killing incredibly boring enemies and 10s worth of repair costs. Great event.
Got DC’d just before finishing event too.
I died in the lava pit and could not get resurrected/back to the chest within the window where it apparently DESPAWNS? Seriously… Why won’t the chest just stay up until I open it??
I am SO unbelievably livid.
This is so disappointing. Spent 3 hours battling this quest from the beginning only to be disconnected when the Ancient Karka was down to a sliver of life with no way to rejoin the quest again in the same server. And from this post it looks like a lot of people experienced the same problem. Did this not come up as a potential problem to avoid when you were testing this one time event?!
I also was disconnected and got no reward. The very fact that they give out such huge rewards for a one time event is shocking enough, but the fact that they don’t even reward the people who do manage to make it due to bugs is ridiculous.
Well, that was a waste of 3 hours and a fair bit of silver to repair my armour, and all I got out of it was crab meat.
They can do one time events, but doing massive server wide invovlement vents is a recipe to get this kind of things happen especially if it is a world boss. They should’ve made an instance like mad king but a one time only thing that you have to complete on the day. You get to experience cutscenes and everything and safeguard yourself from the lagfest and dcs. The concept was good, but reality of servers just destroys the idea.
Fort Aspenwood, I completed the bomb-squad, and then fought off waves of minions spawning around the ancient karka, I force closed the game client after it froze for over 3 min. This was about 90% through the minion killing event. When I came back I was too late, and the event was over. After this I moved into an overflow, on which the bomb event was glitched and the npc’s were frozen. I stayed for about 30 minutes, but lost hope in a fix and left. I feel even worse for them, because they didn’t even get a partial experience.
I got d\c off a Overflow server over halfway through the event. When I logged back in I assumed I would be back on the same Overflow server – I was wrong.
When I returned I was logged into a different Overflow server. Ok, the problem is…. the server that I was returned to was at best 1/4 of the way through.
I had to redo a decent chunk of the (slow) process and only rewarded once but… better than people that got nothing at all.
Multi-Boxing would have had it’s benefits in this one I guess.

It just seems very improbable that they’ll make an attempt to fix it as there were people who disconnected before the Ancient Karka was defeated (as I did), after it was defeated, and everywhere in-between.
How exactly will they be able to distinguish who suffered the loss and who didn’t? That is, if they even try to, which I personally think they should; many people are left disappointed after all.
You’ve absolutely ruined the positive impression I had of this game.
After arriving on time, (what a great idea, to make an event for people to plan their lives around!), and wasting multiple hours in a snooze event (unbelievably boring — your game designers are just “Phoning it in” at this point), I was cheated out of the reward by your poor quality control.
Why didn’t you anticipate things like people getting disconnected? Or getting trapped in the game geometry? How hard would it be to actually test this stuff out?
My “FUN”: I used the thief skill ‘steal’ during the Sunday event, right at the end, on the trapped gas. Hit F1; oops; guess what now? TRAPPED in the geometry; I’m INSIDE the gas area; can’t run out. Trapped. I can’t even travel to a waypoint. It says I’m ‘in combat’. I logged to character select and back, hoping that would help; nope, it bounced me to another overflow. And it wouldn’t let me rejoin my party because it said that server was full, (and gave an error code.)

Well they were able to tell who did the halloween events so that they could get the items if they couldn’t so maybe they have an event log of each user.
Pretty much the same. The overflow I was on got to the second renforcement phase, I ended up crashing out, and logged onto an overflow that finished it. I tried oveflow bouncing to get back, but after the 5th try, gave up.
I love the game, but this is upsetting. I just hope Anet does something.
Happened to me as well. I think I just spent about 35 silver porting back and forth to different overflows trying to find the one I was in…. no luck. Oh well.
same thing happened to me and it has me pretty pissed off!
They should be able by seeing what parts of the chain have been completed. In addition to that are the crash reports. I definitely sent one after this last DC.
Agreed, 2.5 hours of dieing over and over again and repairing and running back. Just to get booted at the end, log back on and try to get back to the same server as my Fiance’ (we were grouped doing the event) and I get the error message that I couldn’t join her because the server was full. She recieved nothing, no trash drops, nothing. I got some trash drops but that’s about it.
Was disappointed with the Halloween event and now this. Not too sure how much more I am going to be playing GW2. There are alot more games out there.
they could send a few random exotics to the members that had this happen to them
I got stuck at a loading screen at the last few min of the fight. Was after i tried to res at the camp waypoint since i was unable to get ressed to to over whelming karka hatchlings, as i tried to respawn, the game was stuck at the loading screen, had to Alt+F4 to get out of the game, came back missed the event and reward.

Check your arrogance at the door. Unless you never died once during the zerg fest while actually participating, never relied on someone to revive you, never relied on someone else’s boons, etc., this is a rather stupid comment to make (and if you assert all of the above, you’re a big fat liar). Chest access did not depend on staying alive at the moment of the actual kill, nor was it based on performance during the 2.5 hour event. Whether someone disconnected or had the loading screen crash on them on the way back to the waypoint, the issue is with the chest despawning before they could receive what they earned with their hard-spent time. I was lucky that after about 20 logoff attempts, I found an overflow that finished slower than the others and was able to claim my just reward, but even that chest despawned three seconds after I looted it, leaving some of my party members SOL as they clamored to switch overflows. The chest should have persisted, relying simply on a participation check for access (to prevent people who didn’t participate from looting).
I had a freaking power out at the final phase! I could not get back in for like thirty minutes after it happened! And I got nothing out of this as well! I hope Arena Net gives us SOMETHING as a compensation! Because this is just infuriating, considering I was participating in the fight since it started!
I got DC and couldn’t reconnect. I’m in the same boat as everyone else.
I didn’t get disconnected but right before the very end I died and was rezzed near the top, as soon as I was rezzed, without even moving, I fell to a location that no one could get to to re-rez me. I waited a few minutes to see if anyone would be able to help, after the event was over I see everyone in chat discussing the items that they had received from the chest. I asked for help and no one would help so I way pointed and came back, looked around for the chest and saw it but as soon as I approached it, it disappeared. I was so close to getting the rewards I could almost taste it. Very disappointing that I didn’t make it after almost a 2 1/2 hour battle.
Yeah, dc’d in the first overflow after an 1hr and a half into the event. Once I got back into another overflow the event was miles back. Proceeded into another overflow that were at similar point to my original overflow. Then…after another hour dc’d nearing Ancient kill. When I get back into the next overflow event complete, no chest. Tried about 12times relogging hoping to find another overflow still working the kill….no go.
I’m all overflowed out.
So I work my way back to that karma vendor near scoundrels w/e poi and decide to sell the trash I had in my bags. Clicked on some crap when I started to dc again must have registered a double click because it sold my half stack of ori and then completely dc’d me before I was able to buyback.
Hurts in a way, I soooo wanted to break my mouse, but then I remember it’s only pixels. I can’t take these games seriously anymore.

I spent the whole weekend playing, and the whole massively-laggy, overly annoying, way-to-long event killing annoying Karkas and rezzing people, when, finally, we are killing him I d/c and take AGES to come back. What happens then? The karka is a pile or ash and I have no chest.
3 hours killing stuff, lagging like i’ve never lagged before. The most annoying thing i’ve EVER done in my life. And I get no rewards… This is annoying. Isn’t there anyway to be compensated? I know of countless people that d/ced, having to suck up all the “OMG LOOK AT MY LOOT […] HEUHEUHE” in /m… It’s unfair. Balantly unfair. Why should I suffer ’cause the servers were massively clogged?

DCed after serious issues of lag. What is most disheartening is that ANet points the finger back at the user with an error message sending the user to play with firewall settings while they run around trying to figure it out. How about sticking to your philosphy and BE RESPONSIBLE & SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE. I think ANet could put up a screen that simply says – Sorry, it’s our fault – we are working on it, instead of routing users round and round.

She was in our party, and she didn’t stand in the location of the karka, so don’t run your hole on stuff you know nothing about, she died coming down the ramp, some in are party went to rezz her and died also, we was rezzed in time to get the chest but she wasn’t, this is a timing issue of the chest not being up long enough too loot for those that had any issue as i see it, quit being a troll, no need for your ignorance!
repeat. Stupid idea of having it 1 time. Way too many people that want to do this won’t be able to due to real life. Multiple times over 24 hour period would be ideal. No excuses then.

Same thing happened to me. I got disconnected right when we were chasing the ancient Karka into the hive. When I finally got back on, the event was over.
Can someone at least tell me what happen at the end?

What really pissed me off was, I died, so I tried to respawn at a waypoint, but then the loading screen wouldn’t go away. I could hear the fighting, but I had no way to play. So I logged in again and got an overflow server where the final fight was finished, so the 2-3 hours I spent playing were essentially for nothing. I couldn’t get back to any overflow where the event was still happening.
As much as I love and will still play GW 2, this entire weekend has been a complete and utter disaster. It’s the worst experience I’ve ever had with any game, ever. But I’ll continue to play because I like the game.
Please, just don’t pull BS like this anymore in the future, Anet. Make sure you regression test everything so that it won’t end up like this again when it goes live, and that these one-time events are repeatable, maybe so that you can only loot the rewards once.
This was an utter failure. But life goes on.
Mine wasn’t final phase, but I had2 separate crashes. Both around the same point though. First was about half way through the reinforcements. Came back on in another overflow, did most of the demolition event again and then crashed once more when reinforcements were about 90% done. Now, every time I log in, I am sent to an overflow that already compeleted it. Fantastic.
I was booted and the wife was booted too!!! Im upset we didnt get any final rewards for our time. This should be run again for folks. I’m sorry but I usally never complain but this is sad.

Yes same here, two and a half hours spent and halfway through luring the Ancient Karka to the nest I freeze on a Waypoint screen (from resing myself) only to re-connect to a server that’s completed the event. No recognition for any portion of the event , just a repair bill. Incredibly disappointed.
I had posted on another thread that I think the game should remember which overflow we are on in case we do need to come back to finish an event, but I’ve been hearing that some couldn’t even log back in so that wouldn’t work
