“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.
This game is a failure, of course the events are
That’s completely over-the-top. This game is great. The one-time event just had too many issues to ignore.
I believe I am allowed to think like that too, this game has to many issues to simply ignore. Seeing as that its your definition of failure applied to this event, I shall apply the same definition to the rest of the game. A failure.
It’s what I’ve come to expect, there’s bugs since day one still not fixed, why should the new content be any different?
The weekend was a terrible idea gone wrong. Add a great deal of content to a game with lists and lists of compiled bugs. Add it on a weekend when you introduce a free trial. Add it during peak server times and make it one time only events. Recipe for disaster.
I can’t even see the mobs until they’re right in front of me
i really want on that server :P
Spent 2 hours with the event only to have the client crash, and now i cant come back in. Such a waste, i really really hope i can get back in time for the reward.
The event only started 2 hours ago.
You have not been doing it for 4 hours.
I think Paul Ryan is playing this game!
Yeah….i think this shall be known as the death of these ‘epic one time events’. Rubberbanding for two whole minutes, cant rez people, cant hit abilities, dying when nothing is around me….yeah…
i fail to see this ‘fun’

Nah. You’re misreading what I said or twisting it. Either way, it’s over-the-top. Not worth discussing further.

This certainly didn’t help. In the future, ArenaNet needs to be more aware of server and client limitations.
I can’t even do anything. All my abilities have a +2 second delay…
I can’t even do anything. All my abilities have a +2 second delay…
2 seconds?? dood you’re lucky. it takes about 30 seconds for my clicks to take effect. this includes changing weapons and rezzing.
well it’s a good thing for Anent there is no monthly sub because if there was this game would be a ghost town!
|Playtested yes. Load tested… probably. Load tested enough? No.
Continued…
I couldn’t sleep again, not even with my Charrlie plushie at my side. So I’m not sure if today was a lucid dream or real. Arenanet coordinated everyone to the proper starting spots, and things felt like they were moving pretty good. Little lag, even though there were a ton of us eager players huddled together.
The event was split into two halves, and there was no wrong choice for which to do first. Unlike other games, where you zerg the thing and end it in 15 minutes, this was more slow-paced, but seamless.
We were escorting four NPCs into the hive, but they probably could’ve done this without us. Their AI was uncanny, like they were played by Arenanet staff. (Maybe they were?) And the kraka inside were engaging. Different from the first two days. We only had to fight each one, once, because of the solvent we had applied to our weapons still. And there was clever combos of moves used by the Veterans and Champions, that made it hard to predict what they would do next.
Sadly the event ended just under an hour, it was really fun though. But who wants to play something tedious for 2 and a half hours? Overall, I really am glad I made time for this event. My monthly is just about done, and I’m thinking on how to spend the karma.
Once again, thank you, Arenanet, for making such great content. I am so happy to be your #1 fan. <3
Two hours, 50s on repairs and waypointing and the drops were wonderful! I suddenly want to do this event again!
Thanks for the thread OP, I needed a good chuckle!
It’s a great game on the surface plagued by loads of little issues that really shouldn’t be there. A nice battle engine on the surface killed by a lack of group focused gameplay. Massive Pvp killed by draw in problems. Exploration that goes unrewarded. Everything actually goes unrewarded. Or minimally rewarded. Big world with far too many loading screens. There shouldn’t even be loading screens when you transport in the same map. A traits system that is bugged, depending on class. We’re talking traits completely not functioning or useless. Down leveling that doesn’t solve anything…who cares about going back to do lower lvl zones when the rewards are terrible. Mostly the reward structure is terrible which kills much of the Pve.
Yes, this event was a massive failure.
The final event was awesome…2 hours of intense fighting during a coreographed event…very good…the lag was ok, a lot of mobs we killed we couldnt see but the game kept running.
The rewards were much better than we are used to, so it was a success.
But all the other things that went badly during the weekend need to be addressed.
One more thing: its obvious for everyone that the loot in the new map is broken. People returned to Plinx event chain even with the longer respawn…this speaks for itself. I spent hours in the new map and only got nothing. At Orr I get a lot of loot.
Thanks and best regards,
Red

This game is not a failure, but some content of the last patch is a really wrong step

No it’s not.
One word: culling.
I had an AMAZING time Anet… I really did – it was smooth.. didnt have lag… there was a couple of mobs that spawned on top of us.. but it was expected
GREAT Job.. seriously.. you fixed the lag issue from Phase 1 and this phase 3 made me very happy and excited to see your next events
Well done Arenanet.
Finale was awesome. Great rewards (even though defeat reinforcements took kitten long and almost made me quit).
Will this be a repeatable event?
So much fun! The two-hour event chain felt more like a war than anything in the personal story or Orr ever did. and then the epic conclusion + great loot! AWESOME JOB ANET.
Great fun, was awesome seeing our zerg get wiped out a few times (no sarcasm, really. It should be difficult!) Good job Anet
Thank you Anet, had tons of fun
Good event, no lag no delay etc, nice reward.
Anyone saying otherwise is just a kid who cant be pleased.
I wouldnt be so sure. Or mean. They could repeat the event with less rewards and slightly easier.
Fun? You mean fun in getting disconnected? Or missing the event by one second? Yes, loads of fun. I had just sooooo much fun getting a repair bill that cost all my silver. About as much fun as getting my throat slashed.
fun? the whole thing was complete kitten, but the rewards were alright i guess.
but then what is point of this zone? there is really nothing there …
“I didn’t have this problem, so it isn’t a problem.”
I would hope it would be repeatable, to an extent. What world event would there be on the map later on?
the ancient karka event was a one time thing. the zone itself is here to stay (and the new dungeon too). it seems very plain now so there is a possibility for future events there maybe.
was worth it in the end
Congrats Anet, was heaps good! And thanks for the good end loot, always leaves a good feeling ha. Look forward to the next event already!
If you didn’t crash, sounds nice.
Well, If you guys were paying attention, You would notice that there is now a world event right under the “Lost Shores” Global Event box, Seems we probably will have another World Boss similar to Jormag, Shatterer, & Teq. I would imagine that the rewards will be lesser. But its something to look forward to.
If you actually got to join in. I’m not touching GW2 until the Wintersday stuff, I give up on it all.
Had I not been completely saturated in lag the entire time, the event would have been more fun, for the first 10 minutes. It became tedious after awhile. The design was awesome, but the execution was flawed. Condense the same event into an hour or so and it would have been great! I was pleased that the rewards were FINALLY something to get excited about. I honestly expected to open the chest and get a 12 slot bag and a green or two. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Only for the last 10 minutes of the event.
I had a lot of fun doing this event. I want to give my thanks to the game developers who came up with this. And a lot of great rewards at the end. Thank you thank you thank you so much!
Wife and I had fun no disconnects here, although a good amount of lag due to the amount of players but nice loot to cap it off. Thanks Anet!
Very nice, finally something out of the ordinary. I’m glad the fight was not easy, and the rewards were totally worth it.
I’d just like to highlight all the aspects of the event that worked as intended without crippling bugs or server-end disconnects and lag.
So let’s hear it for those things! Yay!
It was kitten. Period. ANet apparently forgot how to do good events. I wonder if the Dev’s from GW1 went somewhere and made a good game?
The only lesser rewards I can think of is NOTHING. You guys are in denial—- the rewards SUCKED. 2 and a half hours for a 20 slot bag and some rares and exotics that do not apply to my toon I was on? Get real. Glad it’s over and I hope it never comes back.
Glad to see that some people had a good time. Me however did not. Anyways, last QQ post I’ll make today, I’ma hit the sack. Hope I can log in game tomorrow <.<
I should add this, since it’s another positive comment: I did love the finale. Very nice event and great rewards. More of that, please!
“I had a problem, so everyone who didn’t shouldn’t be happy”
Um this event was so kitten that i think im gonna quit this game.
Crash or dc in middle, can’t rejoin, then every overflow that has it still active is full, and only open ones are the ones that are finished.
so ridiculously poorly implemented i’m in shock.
